I am having some youthful flashbacks to my childhood in Centralia. The best images of the town as it was as I was growing up actually come from a mediocre movie called MADE IN USA.
This is the town I was born and raised in.. and the ruins I grew up in..
It has been about a year and a month since I lost a friend to cancer. She was a brave soul who endured agony before she passed away.. She was young—at least I look at her that way since she graduated the same year as me from high school, and I’m not old, right?
It is somewhat weird that Facebook pages never die .. We can pass from this existence, but the words and ‘likes’ we had will remain so as long as Mark Zuckerberg and the NSA permit it..
My friend’s name was Lori.. I visited her Facebook page the other night and realized that people were still actively posting messages to her.. sending love .. actively asking for her to help them. Grieving never stops, perhaps.. And maybe with technology it is evolving. Does it help or hurt to be able to constantly go back to someone’s Facebook, or Twitter, or blog? After all, a visit to the page could make it seem like they’re still here, somewhere.
And maybe they are.
Alexander Graham Bell often visited seances. Some think his invention of the telephone was meant to help the deaf.. others wonder if Bell, like all of us, were searching for a way to speak to the dead and ponder an afterlife. The mystery of EVPs has been around for centuries.. are they recordings of ghostly apparitions, wandering the earth? Or are they just a recording of the endless loop of life—a recording of what we say that replays over and over again? We are told by paranormal ‘experts’ that Bell had those questions. He didn’t find an answer—but his invention led us to years of creepy stories of the dead calling their loved ones after they left the earth.
I wonder how long until we hear from people who claim that the dead updated their Facebook accounts.. I wonder how long until the dead do it—if the dead are powerful enough to do such things.. And that takes into consideration the fact that an afterlife would be existent. And if there was one, it would have to have a few dull moments that people would rather update a Facebook status as opposed to playing musical instruments with angelic figures…
I don’t say this in mocking. As a matter of fact, I am quite surprised that there are no movies or scary stories to tell in the dark regarding Facebook, or Twitter.
It is a little eerie to me to visit Lori’s Facebook page a year and some time later after she lost her battle to cancer.. The photos of her struggles remain.. her hometown remains, as though she’s still there. Her profile picture remains.. as though it’s still current. And the messages to her are continuous, as though she is still alive.
It’s the new way we deal with grief and pain. And there is nothing wrong with it. Any way we try to cope is healthy—it shows we are actively trying to get a hold on our emotions and become mentally stable with the tragedy that life can be..
Alexander Graham Bell was quoted once as saying this,
I have been thinking for some time of a machine or apparatus which could be operated by personalities who have passed on to another existence or sphere. I believe that if we are to make any real progress in psychic investigation, we must do it with scientific apparatus and in a scientific manner.
Maybe one day that apparatus will be Facebook….when a lost soul responds to friends who miss them. Just imagine that premise next time you post a message on a deceased friend’s wall…

Lots of news articles are touting the benefits of getting the flu shot. We are being told it’s not too late to get it now.
I don’t want to get in a debate about that, I have my opinions, I think it’s worth asking what else may be causing this.
I argue that there could be an overall lifestyle change which is helping disease and sickness spread. A lack of good food.. a lack of wholesome food—a population getting too poor to afford good medical care and GMO free meals..
Just my thoughts.

Rob Zombie is working on another horror movie that he compares to the DEVIL’S REJECTS.. apparently BROAD STREET BULLIES is second a side street in Zombie’s plans..
In an interview,Rob Zombie said that he was working on the hockey film but ‘something else’ popped up..
Interestingly, Zombie also says his movie he liked the least was HOUSE OF A 1000 CORPSES because it was a ‘mess.’ I agree with him.

Sometimes the news is bad.. Sometimes a miracle happen. Tears of joy finally escape my eyes tonight instead of yet another tragedy about a child..
Sebastian de la Cruz stopped breathing while his aunt Pamela Rauseo was driving in bumper to bumper Miami traffic.. She screamed for help as the baby went purple without air..
She frantically performed CPR on the baby.
And suddenly…she got help. NBC NEWS reports this:
The female good Samaritan who came to her aid was Lucila Godoy, who was driving with her own child when she spotted Rauseo in distress.
"I wasn’t thinking. I just got out of the car and saw the baby and heard her calling him Sebastian, which is my baby’s name, and I just freaked out," Godoy said.
"I couldn’t think. I was like, ‘Please don’t die on me.’"
Flagged down by the Miami Herald photographer who took the gripping photos, Sweetwater Police Officer Amauris Bastidas also rushed to help.
The three did CPR on Sebastian, who started breathing — and then suddenly stopped again. More rounds of chest compressions and rescue breathing followed until the baby started breathing on his own again.
"That’s when I broke down crying out of relief, knowing that he was OK," Rauseo said.

Rauseo said that she learned how to to CPR seven years ago but had forgotten the basics. Now she plans to take a refresher course to get certified.
"I would suggest that anyone with a baby or a baby in their family do so," she said.
I told my wife for several years now that this is something I want to learn. She already knows it. It’s time for me to act..

One message board comment on a ‘dark web’ site said this, with a photo of an unborn child: ”I have a new baby about to be added to the game.” I challenge you to read the USA TODAY article about this and still try to argue there is not evil in this world—children being damned before they are born to such conditions is wrong and dreadfully depressing..
Why do such horrible and disgusting things happen to children? Why do so many evil so called humans want to rob the goodness and innocence of childhood? There are so many things that come to mind when I looked at the photos. First off, the power of earth to take over what man creates.. but more importantly, the power of hate, which is able to destroy and bring to rubble vestiges of goodness and sport rivalry.

I made Mario look more like a crooked-faced Jay Leno than the plumbing superhero.. And that little blue star.. It was a botched yellow one.
One reason I dedicated 2014 to be the year of the daily doodle—the year I begin drawing again—was because of how long since I drew anything.

I knew I needed practice after not drawing in 10 years. I didn’t realize how bad I got until I saw my star.. Oh that’s a horrible star.
But Tara, it’s from the heart.
Regardless of political persuasion, this is just a bad idea. No one, really, logically has yet explained to me why it is needed.
I know what really is needed.. Twitter, Facebook, blogs, and other sources.. And a strong and fearless media .. one that doesn’t pay attention only to celebrity and bypass the real news.
Thankfully we have Twitter, Facebook, and blogs.

I read with some surprise the Wall Street JOURNAL editorial written this week by former Reagon speechwriter and conservative Peggy Noonan.. It’s titled “Our Decadent Elites.”
There may be many Peggy Noonan haters in my following crowd, but consider some of her salient points.. She starts her article like this:
America sees Washington as the capital of vacant, empty souls, chattering among the pillars. Suggesting this perception is valid is helpful in what way?
…she goes on to say this…
We’re at a funny point in our political culture. To have judgment is to be an elitist. To have dignity is to be yesterday. To have standards is to be a hypocrite—you won’t always meet standards even when they’re your own, so why have them?
…and she mentioned this:
And it is all about the behavior of our elites, our upper classes, which we define now in a practical sense as those who are successful, affluent and powerful. This group not only includes but is almost limited to our political class, Wall Street, and the media, from Hollywood to the news divisions.
They’re all kind of running America.
Some may raise eyebrows that Peggy Noonan is talking about the elites.. The wealthy.. the upper class. And doing so not in a favorable fashion.
It seems a sea change of sorts has taken place in this country. Maybe things have gotten so bad, so rich vs poor without a middle class to adsorb anything anymore, that even Peggy Noonan is decrying the unhealthy economic battle field that exists in this new, two Americas.
And the biggest shock, of sorts, is how she ends her editorial. Like this:
They’re making their videos, holding their parties and having a ball. OK. But imagine you’re a Citizen at Home just grinding through—trying to do it all, the job, the parenthood, the mowing the lawn and paying the taxes. No glamour, all responsibility and effort. And you see these little clips on the Net where the wealthy sing about how great taxpayer bailouts are and you feel like … they’re laughing at you.

It was a messy scene.. Valentine’s Day party for Ayden at school meant that mom and dad had to write out all the cards, put the candy in the bags, and desperately try to maneuver the lollipops into the designated holes on the Scooby Doo valentines.. All the while, food boiled and dishes were dirty.. and Ayden played SONIC THE HEDGE HOG on the iPad.
By 11pm it was done.. finished.. Ready.
Hope we didn’t forget any kids in the process..

I am beginning to believe that either gas drilling is substantially changing the layers below the crust of the earth, or the core of the earth has dramatically shifted and now the earth’s magnetic field is being affected.
There are, at this point, no other logical explanations that would make sense of two plus years of earth booms from all over this planet..
If there’d be a place where hauntings would happen and ghosts would float, it would be in the ravaged coast of Japan where so many lives were slept to sea without warning..

The UN report says that the crimes in North Korea has no parallel un the contemporary world. I fear they are wrong on that..
Perhaps the worst of the worst is Kim Jong UN forced mothers to drown their newborn children..

Of the information we know now: The man went to the 30-floor Charter House in Hong Kong.. police failed to convince him not to jump. JP says he was a junior level banker who played a role on several projects. Infowars has a wrap no the previous 6 suicides.. Anyone else besides me becoming very alarmed at this suicide rate lately? What else is happening that we don’t know..?
BUT…..do the dead bankers know something we don’t? Zero Hedge is reporting that George Soros is putting a ‘put’ on a big market crash..

A massive asteroid, the size of three football fields, is flying by earth today.
The asteroid is 2000 EM26. You can watch the Slooh webcast starting at 9pm EDT on February 17 2014 ...
It will be 2.1million miles away (pretty close in space terms, right?) The GUARDIAN reports this:
But it is defined as a potentially hazardous near-Earth object (NEO) large enough to cause significant damage in the event of an impact. Scientists estimate the asteroid, travelling at 27,000mph, is 270 metres (885ft) wide.
At its closest approach at 2am UK time, the rock will be 2.1m miles from Earth, or 8.8 lunar distances.
It is happening almost exactly a year after the Chelyabinsk, Russia, hit. (Remember that night? We were watching one asteroid ‘safely’ fly by earth as another one almost hit!!?)
At least we knew about this one.. it was discovered back in the glory days of the post Clinton 90s on March 5, 2000. And now here we are.. 14 years later.. the fly by is on. Let’s hope no ‘junk’ comes with it…

This Florida online paper perfectly sums up the horror that is drugs, particularly bath salts, in the once great coal region of Pennsylvania ..This is a great article, written from looking in from the outside. Dennis Maley, the author, grew up in Schuylkill County PA, or as residents term it the “skook” .. He penned this article about a trip back and a sad view of how bath salts and other hardcore drugs have destroyed the last remaining goodness that was the county.
A few points from Maley:
I grew up in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, or the Skook as it’s affectionately known. It is an area that has suffered through a long history of problems with pervasive drug addiction. In that way, it’s no different than a lot of small, economically-depressed places that have fared poorly in the post-industrial economy. The stories are the same, but for some reason, the drugs are often different, perhaps reflecting the particular brand of desperation most prevalent in any particular geographical region.
He goes on..
I’d been hearing the tales for a long time, but by that last trip home the scope had become unthinkable. One after another, I heard dozens of stories about the ranks of friends and acquaintances who’d jumped to the dark side and become a “salter.” It wasn’t just the usual suspects either. Smart people with good jobs and intact families saw their lives quickly circle the drain before nose-diving down the pipe and into oblivion.
I myself have known people, or known of people, who suddenly lost their way and changed their entire personality due to drugs.. It’s a horrible thing, too. The zombie look that the face gets is frightening..

Then there was the assortment of scabs and open cuts dotting her face. Her teeth looked like they’d begun rotting in place and her once-curvy body had thinned to the point that I might have missed her, had she been standing sideways rather than facing me straight on.
I have seen the people he is describing.. I have seen beautiful young and hopeful people become destroyed because they made a choice to do some hardcore horrid things.
While you see the coal region close up every day, looking at it from a new perspective always gives you a fresh look.. Reading an account from someone who left before the bath salt and meth fad began here is striking.. Everything that was is gone. Things that were stable are not..
As the Coal Speaker has followed for years, you never know where you’ll find a meth lab in the area.. The Coal Speaker has also began documenting what I feel will be the ultimate demise of the area: Closed malls, schools, hospitals, and hope. Deep down, beyond all the facts and headlines, there is something else happening.
When I was a high schooler at the now defunct Cardinal Brennan High School in the roaring 90s, life was fine. Kids did bush parties—late night beer fests in the middle of corn fields or in hideouts in the woods. That was the test of a teenager… beer. Miller or Coors.. toxic sure… but things changed.
These days drugs are rampant.. And if you think the cops are immune you’re pretty naive to how things work.
There seems to be a disconnect—county leaders don’t realize just how fast and how much the area changed.. They don’t get the immense change that happened. And most don’t realize how much bath salts, meth, and other hard core drugs are responsible. War has come to our towns.. The drug war. And sobriety is losing.
Don’t get me wrong. The drug was has failed. But let’s not forget how it was meant to fail—the CIA has been busy beavers..
I feel like I am digressing.
