You probably hate noisy eaters, right? There is a very good reason why.

Misophonia, a disorder which means sufferers have a hatred of sounds such as eating, chewing, loud breathing or even repeated pen-clicking, was first named as a condition in 2001.

In an report published in the journal Current Biology, scientists said scans of misophobia sufferers found changes in brain activity when a 'trigger' sound was heard.

Brain imaging revealed that people with the condition have an abnormality in their emotional control mechanism which causes their brains to go into overdrive on hearing trigger sounds. The researchers also found that trigger sounds could evoke a heightened physiological response, with increased heart rate and sweating.

Americans Confused About Cancer Risks

Well when a new study comes out daily refuting the previous day’s study about what causes cancer, should there be any confusion as to why there is confusion to begin with!? Honestly, navigating through the realities of what and how to eat is difficult..

Studies about what cause cancer may actually cause cancer, according to a new study.

Sugar Is Definitely Toxic, a New Study Says

First meat and cancer.. Hot dogs and human DNA.. And. Now the sacred cow and holy grail of Halloween buckets across the world: Sugary candy..

From TIME:

But proving that the rise of the chronic diseases was actually linked to higher sugar consumption is a challenge. Dr. Robert Lustig, from the department of pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, who has made a name for himself publishing books and research addressing the question of sugar’s effects on the body, wanted clearer answers. Now, in a paper published Tuesday, he and his colleagues believe they have come up with the definitive evidence that sugar, as Lustig says, “is toxic.”

Of course this isn’t the first time sugar has made the don’t eat list.. Katie Couric gave us a sugar free challenge a year ago.

But this week the war on food, or at least food-lite, is evident..

Go veg.

Losing your head over a head transplant ..
Headline:

Russian man volunteers to undergo controversial 36-hour head transplant procedure

The story is causing concern. Fear. Anger.
But if you were Valery Spiridinov, wouldn't you want this to work, too?

TERRI SHIAVO TEN YEARS LATER

As wretched a this image is, it’s the artistic representation of what Terri Shiavo looked like as she lived her final moments on earth, deprived of food and water by a judge’s orders 10 years ago.

This is a delicate subject.. and still as divisive today as it was then. My position then and today was that her death was wrong..and that the only person who benefited from it was her ex-husband. I still believe I am right.. I also understand the vast amount of people who think differently than me. But regardless of what anyone thinks, the description (graphic, beware) of her final hours needs to be documented for history books. Lawyers at that time were not completely honest about her “beautiful” death ..

Her brother, Bobby Schindler, wrote:

And yet, Schiavo’s attorney falsely told the public during a press conference, just days before Terri’s death, that she looked “beautiful”. This is what they want you to believe, not the harsh truth about the madness of what we permit in the rooms of hospitals, nursing homes and hospices every single day across this country.
These are the hard facts my family and I will have to live with for the rest of my life: After almost two weeks without food or water, my sister’s lips were horribly cracked, to the point where they were blistering. Her skin became jaundice with areas that turned different shades of blue. Her skin became markedly dehydrated from the lack of water. Terri’s breathing became rapid and uncontrollable, as if she was outside sprinting. Her moaning, at times, was raucous, which indicated to us the insufferable pain she was experiencing. Terri’s face became skeletal, with blood pooling in her deeply sunken eyes and her teeth protruding forward. Even as I write this, I can never properly describe the nightmare of having to watch my sister have to die this way.
What will be forever seared in my memory is the look of utter horror on my sister’s face when my family visited her just after she died.

The full article is here..

I believed in 2005 that this was not a case of a ‘right to die’ patient despite that current thought that it was.... Instead I believed there to be ulterior motives to the man who was requesting her death. It may be unfair to be a judge of character .. and I know this post may find some people who disagree with me. Fair enough.

But fair game: The truth about her final moments on the planet.. During a full moon in Florida, March 31, 2005.

Monsanto Weedkiller Is "Probably Carcinogenic,"™ WHO Says

And as a result, MONSANTO is dismissing the new study linking one of its popular products to cancer..

Which is to be expected..There has been along controversy about this. Heck, there is still a controversy about Agent Orange—created of course by the same folks who now give us GMO food and products to kill the bugs that used to feast on growing plants..

While doing some searching for other peer reviewed science that may back up these most recent WHO findings, I found this article from 2013 appearing in the HUFFINGTON POST, lashing out at those who are critical of Monsanto based on ‘bad science.’   I wonder how much more ‘bad science’ has to happen before we listen.. before the butterflies stop dying.. before cancer rates start falling.. and before we eat good honest food again..

Coke as a sensible snack? Coca-Cola works with dietitians who suggest cola as snack

I just gulped a bit when I read this..

In the 1950s, doctors advertised smoking.
In the 2000teens, doctors will harp on the benefits of sugary drinks?

Sorry Coke, but THIS:

Now healthy eating is a mental disorder? POPSCI says: Striving For The Perfect Diet Is Making Us Sick

Call me a bit of a paranoid conspiracy theorist, but when I see articles critical of people who are attempting to get a little healthier and eat better, all I can think of is some sugar-selling CEO from ‘Name your GMO company’ giving talking points to clueless reporters just trying to get a clickbait article to go viral.

Now excuse me while I finish my sauteed kale over baked chicken..

Eat Like An Okinawan & Live Until You're 100

That headline is probably deceptive.. there are a multitude of reasons, along with heredity that compels a body to live to a ripe old age. But a few things that are doing right in Okinawa consist of these simple principles:

  1. Little added sugar

  2. Low fat..

  3. HIGH potassium

  4. Nutrients

  5. Fiber

So eat that way.
You may not live to 100, but you’ll feel better as you approach it .. that’s not medical advice, it’s just common sense..

BPA exposure linked to quick rise in blood pressure

I am not surprised that there is more medical evidence compounding the already clear dangers of BPA exposure in humans. And don’t forget: Every time you drink from a can or plastic bottle, you’re exposing your heart. When you drink a can of beer, you’re already upping your blood pressure. Add BPA to the mix and you’ve just created a cocktail of confusion for your body to attempt to digest.. Not a good circumstance at all.

Mother Nature Network goes on to write in the report,

For the study, which was published in the journal Hypertension, researchers recruited 60 older participants, most of whom had never had issues with high blood pressure (although some did.) They asked the participants to drink soy milk from either a can or a glass bottle on three separate occasions, spaced apart by several weeks. The researchers chose soy milk because it does not have any effect on blood pressure and it is also fairly neutral in terms of leaching BPA from can or bottle liners, according to The New York Times.

The research team from Seoul National University’s department of preventive medicine in Korea found that when the participants drank soy milk from a can, their urine levels of BPA rose almost instantly — and so did their blood pressure. But when the same people drank the same beverage from glass bottles, which don’t use BPA linings, their BPA levels and blood pressure remained unchanged.

The research did not look at how long BPA levels remained elevated, but the authors did raise the concern that even a short increase in blood pressure — repeated several times a day through BPA exposure in drinks and food containers — could have lasting effects on cardiovascular health.

That does make sense to me. Even short-duration elevations have dangers..

And for me, I am having an eye opening experience. My latest addiction has became cans of seltzer water.. Perhaps I need to rethink my options…

HOWEVER»There are two sides to every table of food. The Center for Accountability in Science is raising some alarms on the alarm bell raised in the alarming report on BPA.

They say the group studied—mostly women—was too small to conduct an accurate accounting to garner a conclusion.. even more, they said that there are gross overstatements in the report.

Should should I crack opened a third seltzer water today?

Or just drink down some bottled beer and chase it with coffee? Questions..questions..

Ebola terror at Gatwick as Sierra Leone flight passenger dies

MORE:

The woman, said to be 72, became ill on the gangway after she left a Gambia Bird jet with 128 passengers on board. She died in hospital.

Ebola has killed 256 people in Sierra Leone. A total of 826 have died in West Africa since the outbreak began in February. Tests are now being carried out to see if the woman had disease.

The plane was quarantined as officials desperately tried to trace everyone who had been in contact with the woman.

But before emotions get wild and assumptions get made: This is not yet ruled Ebola related. As a matter of fact, the MIRROR goes on to report—deep in the article—

The passenger was taken to hospital and sadly died.

“In line with standard procedures, tests are being undertaken to determine the cause of death.

“The patient’s symptoms suggest that Ebola is very unlikely but as a precaution this is one of the tests being undertaken.

It is a matter of time, of course, before cases pop up outside of Africa.. The world is too connected and close for that not to occur. It’s just the hope that health officials will calmly take matters into their responsible hands.. and that panic will not ensue.

Like today…when the vomiting 72-year-old led to a world crisis.
