You probably hate noisy eaters, right? There is a very good reason why.

Misophonia, a disorder which means sufferers have a hatred of sounds such as eating, chewing, loud breathing or even repeated pen-clicking, was first named as a condition in 2001.

In an report published in the journal Current Biology, scientists said scans of misophobia sufferers found changes in brain activity when a 'trigger' sound was heard.

Brain imaging revealed that people with the condition have an abnormality in their emotional control mechanism which causes their brains to go into overdrive on hearing trigger sounds. The researchers also found that trigger sounds could evoke a heightened physiological response, with increased heart rate and sweating.

No business like show business and no business

The White House Correspondents dinner, aka “the nerd prom,” may be in trouble. The New York Times reports that both Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, two Conde Nast publications, have pulled out of their annual parties. VF editor in chief Graydon Carter, no fan of Donald Trump, says he’s going fishing that weekend.

Then there’s the satirical Not the WHCD being planned by the very funny comedian Samantha Bee and sponsored by her network, which is owned by Turner Communications, part of Time Warner. When Bee announced this last week it sounded hilarious at least on paper. But it also depended on people of note coming to Washington.

Comedy is dead in the Trumpland...but who killed it? The people who hate Trump filled rage or Trump himself by being who he is?

Doesn't it seem like the entire world order of things has been turned on its head and ferociously shaken??

A lot of proper journalists have turned their noses at the dinner as inappropriate. Tom Brokaw has been very vocal about it. “I would watch on C-SPAN, and as I watched on C-SPAN, I would try to put myself, kind of, if you will, in the person of an interested citizen in Kansas City, or in Little Rock, or in Spokane, Wash., saying, ‘That’s the Washington press corps?’ I mean, there was more dignity at my daughter’s junior prom than there is [at] what I’m seeing on C-SPAN there,” he told Politico.
Of course, a lot of people point to the 2011 dinner, hosted by Seth Meyers, as the moment Trump decided to run for President. Meyers and President Obama were merciless to Trump, who did not take the ribbing well at all. Maybe this year it would be best to have a smaller, non roast dinner, with fewer celebrities and no mention of the current President.

There's no business like....well, no show business.

"Comedy" in the Trump era

There is no doubt that comedy, irony, and lampoonery is the soundest of principles to keep power in check.. Donald Trump deserves every bit of it as would any leader or public official who makes decisions that need to be held up to the light of day.
But that said...
There are some troubling things.

A SNL writer Tweeted this weekend that Barron Trump, the President's 10-year-old son, would be the first 'home school shooter.' He is not even home schooled by the way. And now just this:

A Comedy Central writer called Barron a "date rapist to be." It did not stop there.

Comedy Central writer Stephen Spinola is under fire for tweeting that President Trump’s 10-year-old son Barron Trump is a “date rapist to be”.
In a since deleted tweet, Spinola joked, “Barron Trump looks like a very handsome date-rapist-to-be.”
He followed it up with another tweet that said, “I don’t want my Mom to get raped, but if she does I hope it’s by Barron Trump – small pp would be painless & we’d win lots of money in court.”
After receiving a deluge of criticism, Spinola proceeded to complain about people on Twitter being abusive to him.

A little disgusting.
The same way it was when former President Obama's daughters were initially targeted by some members of the media .. the President at that time said his family was off limits. Trump needs to do the same -- but not sure if many will listen.

Right now is one of the nastiest times for the internet I can recall.. I recoil at my Facebook newsfeed.. I shield myself from Twitter.. I try to look away and find solace in the non-political. But these days so many things come back to politics.. Just about everything as a matter of fact.
Unification seems to far away. President Trump may be judged according to his policies and actions, however the initial criticism seems to be getting way too personal.. too cruel.. and to direct to his son Barron.

Barron is a 10-year-old. He is not fair game, it's not cool or proper to think he is. And yes, there will be a continuous flow of Tweets and media commentary destroying his life.. Nothing said in response will stop the rudeness or rottenness...

...decency in decay on the information superhighway...

According to Zombie's Facebook, the MPAA slapped his film with an NC-17 rating after he edited it twice

He wrote this on his Facebook page:

“Well, after two tries through the MPAA our rating on 31 remains NC-17. Maybe three is the charm to get an R rating. Why R you ask? Well, because your local theater will not show an NC-17. Even though you are a fucking adult … things much be censored for your enjoyment.”

It was rated NC-17 for some normal things like “sadistic graphic violence” and “some strong language,” but also for some weirder things like “bizarre sexuality.”

‘31′ promises to be sadistic and sick–I guarantee that even though Zombie is expressing indignation about it, he’s perfectly fine with the attention and the type of horror movie fans that will be out to see it.

How the Brits see the America zombie craze

Halloween is over.. Of course for those who read this website, you’ll know that the spirit of Halloween lasts all year regardless of the calendar..

In the light, I was perusing some British fishwrappers and discovered some interesting commentary from Donald Macinnes in the UK INDEPENDENT and some not so kind words about America’s craze with zombies–and how dislike of the British culture being so accepting of it..

From the article,

I first noticed the bloated US obsession with the 31st day of October many years ago, during one of my annual trips to visit my sister in Florida. I tended to travel there in late autumn, mainly because the climate is at its most tolerable then, with the late summer hurricanes having abated and the mosquitos taking a breather from all the raging sucking.

Every year, I got more and more amazed at the scale of the American approach to Halloween. Unlike in this country, where it took a distant back seat to fireworks fight, the Guy Fawkes-free calendar in the US meant Halloween was the be-all-and-end-all – certainly until the next holiday, Thanksgiving, trundled into view in late November.

It’s gets meaner. Really. Written as only a Brit could write,

And things didn’t end with ringing someone’s doorbell. Now kids get a handful of responsibly sourced tofu treats just for turning up, but we had to do something to earn our fun-size Mars bar – maybe sing a song or tell a joke. I would tend to have one joke ready that I would trot out at every door.

And while this incarnation of Halloween may not have swollen the coffers of Tesco or Aldi quite as much, at least we had our dignity. I’m joking, of course.

A big giant ouch.

Of course cruel or not cruel, it does not matter.

As a matter of fact, right now as I write this brief post, my personal Facebook feed is filled with my friends’ photos of their barhopping.. adorned with the most ghoulish of attire, sexualized in nature, they are gratifying themselves at a watering hole of their choice and carelessly drinking the night away. Their makeup is running but that’s the point: It’s the makeup of blood, zombies, and gore.

Yes, America is filled with the nightmares of Elm Streets around the world. But most of those pastimes of Halloween are borrowed. Let’s not forget where bobbing for apples comes from..where Samhain comes from..where all of the customs and traditions come from. Not America. We’re the melting pot. We get them from everywhere else.

Including you Britland.

So don’t let your tea run cold. And we can have our zombies.

After all England.. you have your problems, too.

Congo "child witches" exorcised

Congo “child witches” exorcised

These are headlines that can be straight from old times of ages gone by.  They are not, however. They are today. Now. Right now. The UK DAILY MAIL is running a big spread in their latest Britwrappers telling the hidden story of the ‘demons’ in the Congo children.. 50,000 at least who are ‘exorcised’ in a brutal way to ‘beat the devil’ from their human bodies. Nikki Fagge writes in more detail:…

FAKEBOOK USERS: Many admit making lives seem more exciting on socials

MORE FROM THE REPORT,

A survey by smartphone maker HTC found that more than three quarters of those asked (76%) said they judged their peers based on what they saw on their Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook profiles.

In order to make our own pages and lives appear more exciting, 6% also said they had borrowed items to include in the images in order to pass them off as their own and make others jealous.

More than half of those surveyed said they posted images of items and places purely to cause jealousy among friends and family.

Behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings said the trend was unsurprising given the rise of social media.

I think we have seen our friends, family, and maybe if you look in the mirror hard enough, yourself as well do this very thing..

Try you best to make things seem fine.. Seem okay..
But all the while, the darkness of sad and fear creep in. You don’t want to express the real you on FACEBOOK though.. people may not ‘like’ ..

This is a good video.. 100 years of Halloween costumes that women have worn.

Yes, the 1980s were scary because of the style.

But in my opinion, the 1925 edition of Halloween may be the creepiest and more frightening of all.. it was intended to be fun. But as time beats on, the look has become sinister and mentally disturbing..

I hate fish tanks, except this one

I hate fish tanks, except this one

I dislike the work and hardships that come with fish tanks. Not only the dead fish who wash up to the top, but the endless cleaning.. endless power eating.. endless work. But I would make a sacrifice, as would my wife and son, if we could get this amazing fish tank: The work they put into it was tough. So tough I wouldn’t do it. But I’d buy it.. The video here:…

Destitute and dumbed down

Destitute and dumbed down

At a time when the world should shine we seemingly have grown to be locked in darkness..    The loudest voices seem to say nothing, just a constant flow of drivel that amounts to a collection of uselessness.. The quietest in the crowds make a choice in the Internet age.. Dare to be different or dare to be square–the bankers and conglomerates that give us start ups and social networks have a…

The summer of Art Bell

Art Bell and Keith Rowland have made it official: There will be July fireworks in 2015 .. the talk show legend is going to go his own way.. A podcasting style as opposed to the terrestrial or even satellite radio he did previously. This time he is greeting the 21st century with open arms, working out private deals to play music, hoping that fans sign up in big numbers to help his return, and beaming himself to every smart phone that wants him.

The show will be called MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT.

Bell posted two messages on Facebook tonight:

Midnight in the Desert is on the way! It is official now, Starting in late July we will begin streaming a full show from Mon-Fri 9PM- 12AM P.T. It will come to you Worldwide on the Internet in 64Kbps Stereo on Tune In which has a free app available for download right now.
Keith and myself have come to a agreement and the main Studio gear has been ordered. There is a great deal of work ahead and all of you who are friends and fans will have to help out when the time comes by spreading the word far and wide.
Wanna Take a Ride?
Art Bell

And the next:

From Keith: The Final Results, Art Bell IS Coming Back!
POSTED ON APRIL 14, 2015 IN BUMPER MUSIC, RADIO SHOW | 1 VIEW | LEAVE A RESPONSE
After extensive analysis and elongated negotiations with several suiters, we have decided that we can go ahead on the planned launch of “Midnight in the Desert” in late July, using a business model that will allow us to manage the entire operation on our own.
As was hinted by Art via his Facebook feed, we thought about it, compared the numbers and decided we could pay for bandwidth, pay the commercial licensing fees, pay our own overhead and still be financially viable, assuming the following conditions:

1. We have a considerable number of fans subscribe to a membership service that allows you to access the archived shows anytime via the website for a reasonable $5 / month.
2. We can sell advertising to be played during the breaks during the show. Not a lot, but enough to help pay for the music licensing during the LIVE FREE stream.
3. We can successfully curb pirated posts of our content to the Internet.
We’ll be operating under a certain specific licensing model that will allow us to ramp up from a “small webcaster” status into a large broadcaster in the future. It is imperitive that we earn enough through subscribers and ads sales to pay the bandwidth costs and music licensing fees. We believe that we can ramp up successfully using the current models in place at this time.
However, this happens to be the year (2015) that music industry participants are negotiating the next 5 years (2016-2020) rates for music licensing on the Internet. It is a wide open arena, and some license models may not survive. But we believe that we can operate under the current 2015 model for 6 months, and eventually fit into a 2016 model that is still cost effective.
We hope to recoup all of our investments within the first 6 months, so we can better endure the cost increases that will inevitably happen in 2016. If the fans support us with memberships and the advertisers are satisfied, we should be good for a long while.
Keep watching here for the launch date announcement and further updates as we can pass along. We’ll let you know when it’s time to promote the show.
— Keith and Art

A copy of the text was also placed on ARTBELL.COM to inform readers there of the return..

I do have a few critical thoughts regarding this. While on one hand I am celebrating the return, there's a little part of the 20th century boy in me that will miss the radio aspect. There are only about 2 shows I still actually listen to on radio. I have accepted the podcast world. I love it, as a matter of fact.. I think Art will be best, only though, on live radio. I am happy he is giving a free live stream with downloadable content afterwards...

As for the pirates? I don't know if there will be an efficient way to stop them. Recently Art Bell has posted on BELLGAB asking for users there to become his deputies around the NET this summer, scouring the sites of the hinterlands of HTML for any and all pirate streams. And then threatening legal action. But that is plugging a leaky hole in a flooding dam.. it's not just that easy.

As for the six month window, that is going to be a risky gamble.
And there are some, even on the ART BELL website, who are shaky on the return. After the quick SIRIUS XM quit--when fans were left trying to return hundreds of dollars in merchandise to the satellite company after DARK MATTER suddenly ended after Halloween--some fans have expressed hesitation to sign up for a monthly fee in return to hear Bell.  The other side of that coin, however, presents a much different picture of the situation at Sirius. Coast to Coast AM quickly showed up on the INDIE station after Bell left. Along with that, there seemingly were other things happening behind the scenes that perhaps even Bell will address this summer on MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT..

I think I'll make a prediction: Those fans that are hesitant today will be signing up tomorrow. The talent that Bell has will be hard to pass up, especially when compared to the monotone moronfest that Coast to Coast AM has turned into over the past several years since Bell's 2010 final departure from the 'hot air' of that show.

Summer is set.
Barbecues.
Fourth of July fireworks.
As the long and hot summer nights fill the air with heat and murky humidity, Art Bell will once again be broadcasting from the high desert for the world to hear. This time in a new century style..

The hot air will remain on the terrestrial side.

Age vs propaganda

Let me first say, politics is a blood sport and I really have lost interest of the years. It amazes me that we teach our children not to bully each other, and laws are passed stopping them, but yet politicians have free reign to destroy each other and use NSA secrets or back alley Sallys to their advantage. The more dirt the better.. the more chances a politician can be destroyed in front of the media spotlight.. And then the other guy wins.

Midnight or bedtime?

Art Bell, back in his time, had a different take. He did politics for some time. But changing the format equaled a success that has been unparalleled by any in comparison.

Art Bell is coming back to radio. But will people back to him?

Car from JEEPERS CREEPERS now up for auction on eBay.. One way to tell you’re aging: The cars from movies you still think are sort of new but aren’t are up for auction on ebay..

Thursday, April 2, 2015

..…the location for the house, during shooting, I chose because it had a strange and unnecessary field that the houses of this particular community were built around. And we found – throughout production – that we had persistent and repeatable equipment field only on that strange plot of land. For instance, lights that could turn on anywhere else in the neighborhood would blow out the second you’d try to light them on this plot,” he added. “Also, I used a lot of aerial drone photography in the film, and the drone-pilots were never able to lock in the GPS signal in this field. We would have to move 10 feet away to launch the craft.

I was too afraid to find out what the land used to be. We filmed outside of Toronto, somewhere between Buffalo New York and Toronto, Ontario, in a town called Hamilton

POLTERGEIST REMAKE DIRECTOR GIL KENAN during a REDDIT AMA..

But forgive me for dumping some doubt on these paranormal tales..

First off, the original POLTERGEIST is known for creepy rumors and urban legends that surround the production—there are tales that the clown used in the original film actually had a moment where its seemingly tried strangling Oliver Robbins.. There’s also the creepy and tragic factor of Dominique Dunne and Heather O’Rourke passing away after completing production.. There are lots of other weird and strange rumored paranormal possibilities that you can read in depth there..

But as far as this new movie? I have a problem with the remake already. The trailer looks ridiculous. It looks forced.. I said a few months back that this may be a remake I am okay with. The more I contemplate it the less I’m okay, as a matter of fact, the more it’s just, in my humble opinion, a remake that will be chalked up as a blip on the radar of horror..

And these comments offered by Kenan are a little offensive. I think the filmmakers are trying to push a paranormal ‘reality’ to the film to give it some form of ghostly street cred—almost to overshadow the original film’s nostalgic and paranormal feel..

Nothing will beat the original POLTERGEIST. And quite frankly, there is nothing ‘haunted’ about where this new remake was shot.

But the scary thing is the possibility of a flop.. therefore Gil and company are trying to push some false narrative to employ your most fearful imaginations about this new movie.

I also read comments on several horror related message boards.. Most are chalking these Gil Kenan remarks up as fiction.. and BS..

People need to be careful when walking on the gravesite of past actors who may have truly been affected by a movie curse (though that is still a stretch, too, some would say) .. But even more, directors and movie makers need to be extremely cautious in over-hyping a movie that will most likely bust like a balloon loosing air.

Google 'makes people think they are smarter than they are'

Makes sense.. I call it Google muscles but I also contend that a search engine university would be a far better way of learning than the traditional university system. One day I’ll explain that theory further , especially if I get an investor ;)
