The political Razzies: Dinesh D’Souza robbed Ben Affleck of much deserved discredit

My opinion doesn't amount to more than a hill of rotted beans, but I think this year's Razzies Award pick for 'worst' film is the 'worst' pick they could have chosen.. It went political. The movie yielding the the banner of worst of 16: HILLARY'S AMERICA by Dinesh D’Souza..

The annual tongue-in-cheek Razzie awards, which serve as an antidote to Hollywood's Oscars ceremony, named Dinesh D'Souza's "Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party" as the worst film of 2016.  D'Souza, a conservative commentator and best-selling author, was named worst actor for narrating his documentary and worst director alongside Bruce Schooley. Worst actress went to the person who portrayed Clinton in the film.

I get that Hollywood is anti-Trump, pro Hillary.. I understand that this is their time to make statements.. But I am increasingly wary of how political EVERYTHING is .. Even the Razzies, the awards meant to poke fun and be sarcastic to Hollywood. Instead it's given Hollywood a vehicle to poke at Trump. Which is fine. Which is dandy. But it's also getting obnoxious. I just want to go through a day without seeing anything about Donald Trump, or politics.. Just one day. 24 hours.. A cycle of freedom and beauty! But it will never abound. Instead, it's everywhere.. it surrounds us.. it inhabits us.. it precludes us from sanity.

The Razzies gave BATMAN VS SUPERMAN four awards. If it wasn't for the political statement that was being made, Affleck's awful disasterpiece action film would have been the sound winner for worst movie in 2016. It would have been well deserved. BATMAN VS SUPERMAN featured an array of boredom coupled with a sickening and dazzling display of non-creativity. It was the worst movie of 2016.

The Empire Strikes Back! White House bans news outlets from briefing!!

This is how the front page of CNN looks at the hour.. major journalistic enterprises have been blocked from attending the White House briefing Friday afternoon..

THE THE NEW YORK TIMES REPORTS...

Journalists from The New York Times and two other news organizations were prohibited from attending a briefing by President Trump’s press secretary on Friday, a highly unusual breach of relations between the White House and its press corps.
Reporters from The Times, CNN and Politico were not allowed to enter the West Wing office of the press secretary, Sean M. Spicer, for the scheduled briefing. Aides to Mr. Spicer allowed in reporters from only a handpicked group of news organizations that, the White House said, had been previously confirmed to attend.

Organizations allowed in included Breitbart News, the One America News Network and The Washington Times, all with conservative leanings. Journalists from ABC, CBS, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Fox News also attended.

Reporters from Time magazine and The Associated Press, who were set to be allowed in to the briefing, chose not to attend in protest of the White House’s actions.
“Nothing like this has ever happened at the White House in our long history of covering multiple administrations of different parties,” Dean Baquet, the executive editor of The Times, said in a statement. “We strongly protest the exclusion of The New York Times and the other news organizations. Free media access to a transparent government is obviously of crucial national

The Bowling Green Mandela Effect!?

Kellyanne Conway, President Trump's advisor, got herself in a bit of a jam..

ABC news reported it this way yesterday:

Despite comments made by White House Senior Counselor Kellyanne Conway, there never was a massacre at the hands of Iraqi refugees in the city of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
In fact there never has been a terror attack of any kind in the city of 60,000, and local officials are now rushing to assure everyone their town is safe – and always has been.
“I bet it’s brand new information to people that President Obama had a six-month ban on the Iraqi refugee program after two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalized, and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green Massacre,” Conway said on MSNBC on Thursday night. “I mean most people don’t know that because it didn’t get covered.”
It didn’t get covered because it didn’t happen. There was no massacre.
It is true – as ABC News first reported in 2013 – that in 2009 two al-Qaeda terrorists from Iraq were found to be living as refugees in Bowling Green. In court, they later admitted that they had attacked U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
The arrest of the two men, who are now in prison, led to a six month drastic curtailment and overhaul of the Iraqi refugee program in 2011.
The entire saga played out in the small Kentucky town without bloodshed, much less a massacre.

And with that, a scandal developed.. a laugh line emerged. And another political football was thrown.

But I try to delve deeper than the static noise..
I saw an interesting theory online tonight regarding this event.. something worth passing on for your thoughtful intercession.

This is not a defense of Conway, nor any attempt at making sense of the Trump Administration thus far.. but it's being offered up because of my life of the Mandela Effect, the paranormal, and politics..

What if--WHAT IF!--Conway experienced a Mandela Effect? A time slip!? A moment where the past seems to be different from what you thought it was..?
A very public Mandela Effect, perhaps?

This is where politics may rear its head.. and quite possibly where you stand on Trump will have some play in what you think next.

But follow this.. just think..
From a REDDIT thread:

I know the press is (unfairly?) hammering Kellyanne Conway about this and everyone just assumes she made it up, but does anyone else remember an actual Bowling Green Massacre?
And I'm not talking about the arms smuggling scheme or whatever that all of the articles I've read seem to think she might have been talking about. I mean an actual, honest-to-goodness terrorist attack.
I definitely recall a bombing in Bowling Green that killed ... maybe a dozen people? I think it happened either at the end of the Bush administration or the first month of the Obama administration. I'm pretty sure it involved a suicide bomb being set off on a city bus. The way I remember it was a young muslim guy--he could have been in his late teens, possibly early twenties? (I'm ashamed to admit this, but I remember seeing his pictures on the news and thinking he was kind of cute.) He hid an IED inside a dufflebag or knapsack or something and I think he detonated it using an ipod or some kind of portable music player.
Later, they arrested a second, older muslim guy. I think he was responsible for building the bomb. They were definitely both Iraqi refugees, like Conway said.
So am I nuts, or did this happen? Everyone at work thinks I've lost it.
Yes this is a big stretch, and yes most likely many skeptical people will continue to be critical of the original post on REDDIT.

But ... for a late night with stars in the sky, such thought seems appropriate. After midnight, no holds are barred.. even political Mandela Effects that are felt far and wide..

No business like show business and no business

The White House Correspondents dinner, aka “the nerd prom,” may be in trouble. The New York Times reports that both Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, two Conde Nast publications, have pulled out of their annual parties. VF editor in chief Graydon Carter, no fan of Donald Trump, says he’s going fishing that weekend.

Then there’s the satirical Not the WHCD being planned by the very funny comedian Samantha Bee and sponsored by her network, which is owned by Turner Communications, part of Time Warner. When Bee announced this last week it sounded hilarious at least on paper. But it also depended on people of note coming to Washington.

Comedy is dead in the Trumpland...but who killed it? The people who hate Trump filled rage or Trump himself by being who he is?

Doesn't it seem like the entire world order of things has been turned on its head and ferociously shaken??

A lot of proper journalists have turned their noses at the dinner as inappropriate. Tom Brokaw has been very vocal about it. “I would watch on C-SPAN, and as I watched on C-SPAN, I would try to put myself, kind of, if you will, in the person of an interested citizen in Kansas City, or in Little Rock, or in Spokane, Wash., saying, ‘That’s the Washington press corps?’ I mean, there was more dignity at my daughter’s junior prom than there is [at] what I’m seeing on C-SPAN there,” he told Politico.
Of course, a lot of people point to the 2011 dinner, hosted by Seth Meyers, as the moment Trump decided to run for President. Meyers and President Obama were merciless to Trump, who did not take the ribbing well at all. Maybe this year it would be best to have a smaller, non roast dinner, with fewer celebrities and no mention of the current President.

There's no business like....well, no show business.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: BUSH APPOINTED JUDGE HALTS TRUMP TRAVEL BAN NATIONWIDE

This developing tonight..

A federal judge in Seattle issued a temporary nationwide restraining order Friday stopping President Trump's executive order banning citizens of seven countries from entering the United States.Judge James Robart, who was appointed by former President George Bush in 2003, ruled the executive order would be stopped nationwide, effective immediately.“The Constitution prevailed today,” Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson said in a statement after the ruling. “No one is above the law — not even the President.”"It's our president's duty to honor this ruling and I'll make sure he does," Ferguson added. The ruling, made at the request of Washington and Minnesota, is the broadest to date against Trump's executive order.

Confusion over the Trump executive disorder

Reporting from CNN

When President Donald Trump declared at the Pentagon Friday he was enacting strict new measures to prevent domestic terror attacks, there were few within his government who knew exactly what he meant.Administration officials weren't immediately sure which countries' citizens would be barred from entering the United States. The Department of Homeland Security was left making a legal analysis on the order after Trump signed it. A Border Patrol agent, confronted with arriving refugees, referred questions only to the President himself, according to court filings.Saturday night, a federal judge granted an emergency stay for citizens of the affected countries who had already arrived in the US and those who are in transit and hold valid visas, ruling they can legally enter the US.

And more..

It wasn't until Friday -- the day Trump signed the order banning travel from seven Muslim-majority countries for 90 days and suspending all refugee admission for 120 days -- that career homeland security staff were allowed to see the final details of the order, a person familiar with the matter said. The result was widespread confusion across the country on Saturday as airports struggled to adjust to the new directives. In New York, two Iraqi nationals sued the federal government after they were detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport, and 10 others were detained as well.

Another day in the life of the Trump presidency

If you check your favorite news service of choice as of late, you may be noticing a trend.. All Trump, all the time..
And the headlines? So often unkind..

This is a smattering of issues from today.. A screenshot first to capture a moment time:

From the NEW YORK TIMES  concerning the sudden (but expected) tension with the land down  under the United States:

Mr. Trump’s push to fulfill his campaign pledge and build a border wall brought to a head months of simmering tensions, culminating in a remarkable back-and-forth between the two leaders.By afternoon, Mr. Trump’s spokesman said the president would pay for the border wall by imposing a 20 percent tax on imports to the United States, which he said would raise billions of dollars. The sparring began Thursday morning when the president of Mexico announced on Twitter that he was canceling his meeting with Mr. Trump next week, rejecting the visit after the new American leader ordered the border wall between the two nations.Having called for dialogue in the face of Mr. Trump’s vows to build a wall during the American presidential campaign, President Enrique Peña Nieto ultimately bowed to public pressure in Mexico to respond more forcefully to his northern neighbor.

Concerning that threat of a 20% tax..
President Trump will call for a 20 percent tax on Mexican imports in the hopes of raising billions of dollars to help construct a controversial wall along the southern border of the United States — a move likely to ratchet up the tension between the two nations.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters on Thursday that the plan had been discussed with congressional Republican leaders and is part of a broader tax reform effort. Chief of Staff Reince Priebus told NBC News the 20 percent tax on Mexican imports is one of a "buffet of options", sentiments Spicer also echoed.

And on the DoomsDay Clock:
Moving the Clock 30 seconds, rather than a full minute or more, was a first as well, meant to reflect the fact that while Trump's words on the campaign trail raised the specter of a renewed arms race—Trump tweeted in December that the U.S. must "greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its sense regarding nukes"—it was too early to know exactly what he would do as President. "It is now only six or seven days of the Administration, and actions speak louder than words," said Krauss. "We want to send a message that things are not going in the right direction."

......and it hasn't even been a full week yet.
 Welcome to the new America..?

"Comedy" in the Trump era

There is no doubt that comedy, irony, and lampoonery is the soundest of principles to keep power in check.. Donald Trump deserves every bit of it as would any leader or public official who makes decisions that need to be held up to the light of day.
But that said...
There are some troubling things.

A SNL writer Tweeted this weekend that Barron Trump, the President's 10-year-old son, would be the first 'home school shooter.' He is not even home schooled by the way. And now just this:

A Comedy Central writer called Barron a "date rapist to be." It did not stop there.

Comedy Central writer Stephen Spinola is under fire for tweeting that President Trump’s 10-year-old son Barron Trump is a “date rapist to be”.
In a since deleted tweet, Spinola joked, “Barron Trump looks like a very handsome date-rapist-to-be.”
He followed it up with another tweet that said, “I don’t want my Mom to get raped, but if she does I hope it’s by Barron Trump – small pp would be painless & we’d win lots of money in court.”
After receiving a deluge of criticism, Spinola proceeded to complain about people on Twitter being abusive to him.

A little disgusting.
The same way it was when former President Obama's daughters were initially targeted by some members of the media .. the President at that time said his family was off limits. Trump needs to do the same -- but not sure if many will listen.

Right now is one of the nastiest times for the internet I can recall.. I recoil at my Facebook newsfeed.. I shield myself from Twitter.. I try to look away and find solace in the non-political. But these days so many things come back to politics.. Just about everything as a matter of fact.
Unification seems to far away. President Trump may be judged according to his policies and actions, however the initial criticism seems to be getting way too personal.. too cruel.. and to direct to his son Barron.

Barron is a 10-year-old. He is not fair game, it's not cool or proper to think he is. And yes, there will be a continuous flow of Tweets and media commentary destroying his life.. Nothing said in response will stop the rudeness or rottenness...

...decency in decay on the information superhighway...

The Mighty Trump Tweets again

IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING.. THE TWEETING WILL CONTINUE.. The president of the United States seems to have the professionals using the @POTUS account.. meanwhile the private Tweetstream continues unabashed.
If he fails or succeeds one thing is clear: This is going to be a transitional president, and for better or worse (depending on your political stance) a very historic figure..

Obama to impose new gun control curbs next week

This coming:

President Obama will meet with Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch on Monday to finalize a set of executive actions on guns that he will unveil next week, according to several individuals briefed on the matter.

White House officials declined to comment on Obama’s plans beyond releasing his weekly radio address on Friday, a day earlier than usual. But according to those familiar with the proposal, who asked for anonymity because it was not yet public, the president will expand new background-check requirements for buyers who purchase weapons from high-volume gun dealers.

Why was President Obama standing during his Oval Office address?

Lots of theories floating around online about his today.. Standing = power? The resolute commander in chief?

I thought the stage looked strange.. Obama looked tired. The curtains behind him crabby and dull.. And he seemed uncomfortable standing..
For me it didn’t work..

Wikileaks releases audiotapes allegedly showing fraud in Obama and Bush administrations -

From the UK TELEGRAPH:

Wikileaks released audiotapes on Monday purporting to reveal that appointees of the Bush and Obama administrations corruptly misappropriated funds intended to encourage the hiring of disabled people.

The tapes are intended to provide evidence that billions of dollars meant for disabled people went instead to defence contractors and other major corporations without large proportions of disabled employees.

The accusations centre on a government programme called AbilityOne, which awards about $3 billion annually in government contracts. Most of that money is distributed by SourceAmerica, a non-profit.

Age vs propaganda

Let me first say, politics is a blood sport and I really have lost interest of the years. It amazes me that we teach our children not to bully each other, and laws are passed stopping them, but yet politicians have free reign to destroy each other and use NSA secrets or back alley Sallys to their advantage. The more dirt the better.. the more chances a politician can be destroyed in front of the media spotlight.. And then the other guy wins.
