50 upcoming budget crises
The ‘day of rage’ in Wisconsin and why it matters to the United States.. will it be Egypt in America?
It would appear the crises over state budgets within the next several weeks and months will only intensify.. Most states within the seemingly fragile union are billions in the red.. The federal government also runs out of spending cash in March and unless a miracle occurs and Congress is able to pass a continuing resolution, there may very well be a federal shutdown of government within the United States—this at the same time states crumble under the weight of oppressive debt..
A little note for Coasties out there
There has been more than some questions lately over the state of the long running late night radio show Coast to Coast AM, originally hosted by Art Bell and now George Noory. Art Bell vanished from the site in late 2010, only to put back on again—but rumors are rampant after a strange ‘30’ webcam shot with ‘long live the hot air’ being said on the image that Art Bell posted.. Noory announced his contract has just been extended.. And now Art Bell has addressed the pirates at the Fantastic Forum, the website he has been a member of since the year 2000. In his post, he said he’s enjoying Manilla, his ABs are fine, and he misses the desert. Nothing at all mentioned of his child named Coast to Coast AM, but lots mentioned about how to find him on ham radio..

While the most recent solar flare had little impact on earth besides beautiful photos in some areas, the sunspot activity in 1158 has not stopped yet And now a new cluster of 1161-1162 has erupted..Here are ten ways in which Google runs the world..
Free as a bird...The butterfly effect, Homeland Security version
Angry birds is taking on a whole new meaning.. this one isn’t a game, instead it’s a very real spy drone—and a pocket size version of one at that.. It was developed by a firm for the Pentagon, and we are being told that it flies for minutes and will spy on ‘bad guys’.. However the definition of ‘bad guys’ can often be either broad, or defined by someone who doesn’t like you.. Eye spy with my eye.. a bird in the sky..
A week of surging emotions
..and now weekend anticipation for a child to arrive.
And you know the best proof that it hit me hard this week? I teared up watching a History Channel special this morning on how dinosaurs were obliterated from earth.

And I promise, this is the last dead dog Bailey post
But I am fiercely debating whether to remove her from my logo. Either way, a baby carriage or high chair will soon join it..
The mixture of nationalities leads to strange things
I’m half Irish. And I’m half Russian. I’ve often thought that the Russian side of me is why so often I’m paranoid, angry at the small things, and conspiratorial with the belief that people who don’t even know they are out to get me are actually out to get me..
It’s the Irish in me that tames me.. It makes me emotional, it connects me to the earth, and it leads me to the spiritual side of life.
The tension between both sides is often at play. . And no more than now, after the death of an uncle and the death of a family dog.
Now let me say, I have had very few occurrences of those ‘gotcha’ moments in life when a God is proven or when an ‘other’ world becomes apparent. As a matter of fact, the only time I can remember a human experience being other worldly was an impromptu memorial for a deceased niece named Grace.. the other memory is after a former dog named Newton passed away a few short years ago. I swear, on any one’s grave, that Newt walked passed my door only a few days after death. I, and a friend, saw him. Although the friend didn’t believe it, or ever talk about it again, even when prompted.
The other moment came tonight.. my dog Bailey was put to sleep last night after a severe final battle with cancer. Tonight, as Tara and I were getting baby clothes ready, we both heard the door open and feet walking by the baby’s room..
We both heard of, but Tara doesn’t want to talk about it.
Maybe it was a last visit from a dog before going to the other side.. wherever that other side is..
So do I believe in God? Do I believe in an after life? The Irish side of me weeps and cries and says yes. The Russian side doubts and worries and panics and says maybe.. At least I can so no side of me says no.
The chess match Middle East policy continues to perplex and confound..
This time Bahrain.. And some others too.
The chess match Middle East policy continues to perplex and confound..
There is also the chance that the mega flare will jam radios further and even GPS and other devices..
I’ll update as long as I can here.. Hopefully outages will not be severe.,
And a side not, not to brag, but if you read this site you’ll know I have been paying very close attention to this since the infancy of the solar flare, when it was just forming in the plasma hole of sunspot 1158..

In a revelation he says he has never told his wife or mother, Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown tells CBS's "60 Minutes" that he was sexually abused as a child several times by a camp counselor. Brown, who details the abuse in an upcoming memoir, tells CBS's Lesley Stahl in an interview set to air Sunday

It's been a long week so far..
It has been a pretty trying day.. my dog Bailey, after a few short years of life, was put down this evening.. It was a pretty rotten scene.. I feel absolutely terrible.. my head is pounding.. And life is .. strange. It begs the question of a post-earth existence.. What else is out there? If pets and humans once again coexist on the higher playing field of heaven.. do bad dogs go to hell? Is there a pet purgatory for animals that bit their owners.. but what if their owners were bad, too?? All of these questions, all with no answers.. All to be asked by people confused about their very essence.. All to be pondered by great minds, small minds, the mindless. Because it’s not just all great minds that think alike, but all minds in general.. We think alike because we are human. And since we are human we wonder.. What else is out there .. and what else is within..
Life
Unpredictable with twists.. Amazing with speed. And often sad with grief.. I believe Bailey the dog experienced them all today.
Goodnight world, wherever you are.

Death at a desk
Dying at the desk is given a whole new meaning in Los Angeles as an LA County employee died at her desk on Friday but no one noticed until the day after.. One police officer said that the last time someone say her alive was Friday morning.. no one asked her what she wanted for lunch? No one checked on her throughout the day? Not even her boss or a co-worker wished her a good weekend at day’s end? Foul play is not suspected in the 51-year-old’s tragic demise.. but headlines across the nation being read by many people in offices that wonder if they, like her, would be left for dead by those who work with them..
Watson kicked ass on Jeopardy tonight
And while geniuses may be in fear that computers are taking over, maybe the person most in fear should be Alex Trebek..? Are his days as a host numbered..? Are the days of humans numbered.. An interesting world we’re paving for ourselves, I suppose. A world that, I suppose also, will force humans to become inferior to .. what we created.
You know I knew I hate Valentine's Day for a reason
And now I have my reason: Lupercalia, when the men were men and the women were whipped.. And now, after muddying the waters as the Popes do so well, we celebrate Valentine’s Day, or at least did yesterday.. The NPR story I linked here a few minutes ago continues to fascinate me.. ..The notion of young Roman men picking female names out of a jar, and having relations for the duration..no flowers necessary in Roman times. No chocolates. No wining and dining.. instead it was the very act of procreation or nocreation that took place with immediate flare..
NPR reports, too,
Young women would actually line up for the men to hit them, Lenski says. They believed this would make them fertile.
…and now, after this brutal history of abuse of women and strange pagan rituals of what could best be described as rape, we celebrate a glorified marketing bonanza of food booze and cards. And the women that don’t get a card are told to be upset.. the men who have no one to give a card to are told they are losers. Maybe those should get together and start celebrating Lupercalia all over again, minus the nudity, whipping, gender abuse, and demoralization of humanity. But isn’t demoralization of humanity what Valentine’s Day is all about anyway..?
Should have linked this one yesterday
But interesting nonetheless: The dark origins of Valentine’s Day..

Late solar news flash:
The sun continues to be active tonight… and now an X2.2 level X-ray event was observed by the GOES 15 satellite around 9 p.m. ET tonight.
…solar flares abound.. Staring at the Sun — The Offspring
24 "news" networks
Anyone else frustrated!!? What a waste of time.. CNN, FOX NEWS, MSNBC.. all those hours a day and nothing to show for it.
A revolution in Egypt.. And more. Tunisia.. Now IRAN! …the Patriot Act passes tonight.. there are tremors at Mount St Helens.. there is a massive solar flare aimed right at earth.
And what do our noise networks give us?
Dick Morris on FOX NEWS…
Politics on MSNBC..
Snooze news on CNN..
Truly a shame. Such a grand amount of time devoted to mindless drivel.. So many minutes of the day wasted on news that doesn’t matter but just “stuff” like gossip, celebrity, and noise that poses as news.
As Dan Quayle said once, “What a waste it is to lose one’s mind or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is.”
Perhaps Dan was a prophet.
This was predicted: House passed the Patriot Act Renewal tonight with a simple majority
It didn’t happen last week. But everyone knew it would go through..
A strange scene took place in Harrisburg, PA today
About ‘200’ people convened outside of the Mayor’s office to tell Linda Thompson to quit.. She mouthed no.. and then someone threw a snowball at her window..
None of it was productive. None of it fixed any true problems in the capitol of Pennsylvania.. but it made for some strange images from the midday protest..
A strange scene took place in Harrisburg, PA today
Strange events part three
First the sunspot..then the quakes.. now a meteor over the MidAtlantic states giving me Valentine’s Day shakes..
Happy Valentine’s Day to all.. At least all who celebrate it.

Barbra Streisand had to have messed that up..
Who is Arcade Fire. And how did they beat Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Eminen?
Summing up a weekend
Obama’s change is bringing big cuts in Pell Grants over the next several years.. Egypt’s government toppled but is now being ruled by the military, and we are being told that’s best.. Lady Gaga showed up to the Grammy Awards in a large egg, and hatched.. Cee-Lo Green also seemingly hatched, but in his case in a tribute to Elton John.
And other than that, the dollar is collapsing, the Obama Administration doesn’t think the FBI needs much of any reason to search phone records, and budget deficits from the federal juggernaut all the way to state governments is set to slam into us like freight trains.
But on the lighter side, it’s going to get warm this week. Spring-like, in a way. That’s ok.
Yea.. Esperanza Spalding.. yea.. that came out of no where.
And now Ms. Spalding did her part in ending the Bieber Fever of terror
Cee-lo Green may be dressed better than Lady Gaga
Love the giant peacock outfit.. along with the F you muppets.
I moved on from Bieber fever to Bieber diarrhea
Although I think we’re seeing him go through puberty live on stage
If I would have written GRENADE
Sure Bruno Mars is famous and makes 1000% more than I do, but I think his song GRENADE would have been better if, at the end, he would have said he would even do ‘something’ (add your own word) ‘to David Spade for you’ ..
Second best of the night: Muse
And I forgot how much I liked the meaning of UPRISING until I heard it again
The egg is hatched: Gaga rocking out the Grammys
I have a feeling it will be the performance of the night.
Nifty camera work
And thank goodness for a delay.. otherwise a lot more people right now would be talking about how Christina Aguilera fell during the Grammys..
Eggland
Two random thoughts..
- One has to admit that it is most likely very hot in Lady Gaga’s egg
- Schools will be banning egg-entrances this May for high school proms.
So she's arriving in an egg..
What are we thinking on an outfit? Egg shells..? Feathers..? Perhaps green eggs? Maybe at this point, nothing. Because it’s only now “nothing” that will shock more than the somethings she’s been giving us
Guinness declares world record
E! broadcasting the largest collection of Lady Gaga impersonators ever. Really..? Never been to one of her concerts apparently..

Seeing a lot of JC PENNEY links on Google lately? The New York TIMES tells us why
How is JC PENNEY able to get its store site to come up on Google when a user does a search for practically anything? It’s actually quite fascinating.. David Segal of the TIMES reports:
If you own a Web site, for instance, about Chinese cooking, your site’s Google ranking will improve as other sites link to it. The more links to your site, especially those from other Chinese cooking-related sites, the higher your ranking. In a way, what Google is measuring is your site’s popularity by polling the best-informed online fans of Chinese cooking and counting their links to your site as votes of approval.
But even links that have nothing to do with Chinese cooking can bolster your profile if your site is barnacled with enough of them. And here’s where the strategy that aided Penney comes in. Someone paid to have thousands of links placed on hundreds of sites scattered around the Web, all of which lead directly to JCPenney.com.

Normally people wish they would be in a position high enough to be invited to the PLAYBOY mansion
But today they, and me, are quite happy to acknowledge our lowness of the pedestal of life.. For we do NOT have respiratory problems that about 100 guests of a weekend party now have..
Various sources update us:

Eggcelent Gaga
Supposedly tonight, Lady Gaga’s Grammy performance is going to somehow, someway, involve a giant egg. Perhaps she’ll wear ham for the occassion..
