A funny skit.. in a creepy kind of way..
“I have to say that seeing you in person is affecting me in a way I didn’t think it quite would.”
Speaking from the deep dark mines of the East, Coal Speaker sends a special thanks to the new followers this week, and all those who visited..
Hundreds of people and thousands of clicks from all across the planet earth — the United States for sure, Singapore had more.. The United Kingdom crowned the Coal Speaker.. And the Queen’s other land in Canada was at hand.. Ireland stopped by, Germany too, Switzerland and France, all the updates for you..
New Zealand checked in.
Australia took Yasi on the chin— but stopped by for a visit anyway..
Thank you to all. It’s humbling for someone in no man’s land to have a few clicks from all around the planet.
And as always keep reading, following.. Remember: You can Ask me anything
…Saturday nights hits again.
Hope it’s a pay week for you all out there.
Cat Stevens — Another Saturday Night
Not to be crude, but it’s literally so icy that while my dog Lady Bailey was .. making a movement.. she was also gliding down the yard at the same time.
I absolutely love this AD..
It’s been a long week. Peace..
Barbara Walters’ special tonight on ABC is quite thought provoking.. David Letterman, years ago, had Regis Philbin on his show where they spoke about a typical check up.. The day after, the entertainment world was shocked to learn of Letterman’s dramatic and necessary open heart surgery.. When Letterman came back, Robin Williams appeared as a doctor making light of Letterman’s surgery. Regis had his own open heart surgery in 2007.. Robin Williams in 2009.
While of course I am not at all simplifying the issue of claiming there is anything ‘contagious’ about open heart surgery, but the reason I bring it up is that these three influential people—not to mention President Bill Clinton, reporter Charlie Rose, and reporter Barbara Walters—would have all been potentially taken away from earth and placed into the next realm..
Were they are to have succumbed to their ultimate fate, there would be plenty of lessons left untaught..
The biggest names of our generation all had the same disease.. And amazingly they are all alive to tell us why we need to stay on guard for the same thing.
Just in time for the weekend, Men’s Healthis out with a full listing of the drunkest cities in the United States..
Did you make the cut?
More drinking needed?
Do the cities with the highest amounts of heart disease also coincide with the drunkest of all?
While I’d have to do more research on that, Men’s Health has the full list, but reprinted here is the top ten:
1.) Fresno, CA
2.) Reno, NV
3.) Billings, MT
4.) Riverside, CA
5.) Austin, TX
6.) St. Louis, MO
7.) San Antonio, TX
8.) Lubbock, TX
9.) Tucson, AZ
10.) Bakersfield, CA
NASA says no.. WE should still live after 2029—and 2036. That’s only under the scenario of us making it through 2012..
And if we make it through December, I believe we’ll be fine.
The Super Bowl days away, and now people are having trouble catching flights due to winter weather. I can’t imagine it is something the NFL would have dreamed would happen, even this time of year, in a Southern state. Perhaps Super Bowl 2012 will be moved to Mexico..(at least they have power, unlike parts of Texas including hospitals)… As a matter of fact, there have been more than a few angry voices talking about Texas having problems keeping power in—except for the location of this year’s Super Bowl..

That plus journalists are being threatened for simply showing what is occurring.. The world is watching — or at least trying to … Images on TV of Brian Williams from NBC News using a flashlight to light his own face to report the events of Egypt are simply surreal. We are watching this live on TV and the Internet. This is history. And as I’ve said before, living through history is never pleasant..
ABCNEWS REPORTER THREATENED WITH BEHEADING…
CBSNEWS Lara Logan, Crew Detained…
FOXNEWS reporter, cameraman beaten, hospitalized…
These nets, along with many others, facing threats in Egypt.. Things are seemingly escalating beyond control on the streets of rage.
Things are growing in insanity in Egypt.. While demonstrators shout ‘democracy now,’ other pro Mubarak forces march into Tahrir Square on camels, hellbent to injure or kill.. and all the while journalists are braving the streets, hiding cameras, and trying to show images of the revolution and devolution in Egypt..
To my followers, prospective followers, and readers from the globe: Stay just a little bit longer..
We’re almost in the deepest part of Thursday.. soon to make a quick change to Friday.
Keep the music going! Venus by Shocking Blue, from the 1970s and back to you.
Late Thursday evening mellow-out music, as provided by a Youtube video of Low — Silver Rider (featuring some wild images from user and creator sharpiefinepoiny ). Hopefully everyone’s day was quiet, without major incident of negativity.. and may your thirsty Thursday drinks be cold and hearts be warm in the middle of winter..
Money quote from this article:
But really, once you stop working you realize that you don’t need a whole lot of money. I mean, I think that when you start working, you’re essentially trading your leisure time (i.e. happiness) for money. And then when you’re working and miserable, the natural impulse is to try and reverse that transaction and buy some of your happiness back. So you become a compulsive shopper
Hopefully we’re not on the Eve of Destruction.. Just maybe we’re only on the eve of an early spring..
Be positive.. right? … as Australia’s Cyclone churns and Egypt’s Cairo burns.. and even the Jordon River has bodies.. but tell me over and over and over again my friends… that you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction
…take the message as it reads. It’s a game changing day..
This television is rated FS for freaking scary.. Dramatic scenes are unfolding on live TV and real time Internet. But living through history never was pleasant, these events included. Prayers for Cairo and Egypt as battle lines get drawn and rational protest gets drowned out by madness in the streets..
Watching live coverage on Msnbc with Brian Williams and Richard Engel .. They are broadcasting live from Egypt in what was once a safe location .. on CNN Anderson Cooper is hovering inside as his location got more dangerous.. The disintegrating situation in Egypt appears to be spinning out of control for the entire world to see
Yes because that is exactly what Oprah wants to see.
A mysterious orb of light caught in camera dropping from the sky over Israel..
At this point, no plausible earthly explanations besides trickery of some kind—but even that is doubtful with multiple videos of the ball of light being existent.
There are about 50 or so planets mass thinks are good for life..
Moving from your home is one thing, but would you ever consider moving from your planet?
Case in point on the journalist attacks in Egypt, and as mentioned on Coal Speaker earlier today, here is the video of Anderson Cooper in the midst of an angry crowd around him in Egypt..
NASA says there are over 1000 potential alien planets… and probably a lot more than what our cameras can capture..
The Ballad of Mona Lisa — Panic at the Disco.
Good evening folks.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina’s peak winds were about 175 MPH or so, and caused vast destruction.. The storm being seen in Australia at this moment may have winds in excees of 183 mph… This storm is larger than Katrina and stronger as well..
…even Anderson Cooper felt it, being punched in the head 10 times by what reports are describing as ‘Mubarak supporters’
Australian report on Yasi reads like this:
Cyclone Yasi is building as a storm of unprecedented ferocity - the likes of which hasn’t been seen since 1918.
Yasi is on track to make landfall between Innisfail and Cardwell about 10pm (AEST) on Wednesday, with authorities confident they have the site within a 30km range of accuracy
Rise and shine.. It’s Groundhog Day!
It’s my hope all you out there are well this evening.
Be safe no matter your location or temperature.
Books are in the red in the book store. Thank progress.
We’ll miss paper one day.
Thanks for the feedback.. And my official “follower” Freddy gif thanks you too.
"Great" question "bill" .. I don’t know what exactly you mean "throwing"
the weather out of proportion? Perhaps you meant “blowing” it out of proportion. And no, I don’t. I really don’t like it at all.. but “bill,” when you have a massive Cyclone named Yasi that is about to strike and cause human life to be lost, and when you have a storm taking up a vast portion of a continent with snow and ice, I think that is very important and meaningful. And really, it is going to affect a lot of people. 100 million here.. And while I’m not quite sure how many in Australia, I’d venture to say quite a few.
And Bill, they care. I care that my power may go out with ice.. Chicaco cares since they are crippled due to a massive blizzard.. people that have to take shelter at the Red Cross care.. And Bill, I trust you’re somewhere warm, perhaps a beach or a desert, and maybe you have a nice clear sky above your safe home, tucked away in no man’s land. But guess what, Bill, a lot of other people don’t. And since they don’t, the news becomes important.
Hence: The links, the photos, the stories. And so long as I have this little Tumblelog on the net, I will put forward what I feel is important. Even if people think I ‘throw’ it out of proportion…
ALL THE TROUBLE IN THE WORLD.
As the great 2000 Mile of 2011 Blizzard strikes the United States with over a foot of snow in places and inches of ice in others, the other part of the world is nervously awaiting fate as Cyclone Yasi churns.. While people will be hunkering down within the next few minutes to hours, authorities are amplifying the fear by telling Australians: Don’t panic if the roof comes off. Other dire warnings include $500 mil or more in damage to sugarcane growers. Devastation is coming, they say, for banana growers. .. Island paradise turns into island fear.
And besides the fear over how much money will be lost in farms, other immediate concerns turn to human life itself. How many people are prepared for this storm? The onslaught is due to be challenging at best and life threatening for hours at worst..
People in Australia are bracing for drenching rains and ferocious winds. Cyclone Yasi has achieved an unthinkable but very real Category 5 status tonight, tomorrow their time…
And this to a nation that has been ravaged by floods and true horror over the past several weeks.
IMPACTS…SNOW AND ICE COVERED ROADS WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS
TRAVEL CONDITIONS. POWER OUTAGES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE DUE TO
THICK ACCRETIONS OF FREEZING RAIN.* WINDS…EAST TO NORTHEAST 5 TO 10 MPH IN THE VALLEYS…AND
SOUTHEAST 10 TO 20 MPH ON THE RIDGES. WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE
WEST ACROSS THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS AND CENTRAL MOUNTAIN`S IN THE
WAKE OF A COLD FRONT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON…AND INCREASE TO 15 TO
20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH POSSIBLE LATER WEDNESDAY.
AP reports:
Thousands of Australians were urged Wednesday to gather their loved ones and flee a monster cyclone that strengthened overnight and threatens hours of terrifying winds and torrential rain for the northeast
This storm, if no other, is the best reason we should begin naming winter storms.. This may be one of the most massive colossal systems in recent memory of the lower 48 ..
The Katrina down under: Australia ready to be impacted by massive cyclone the size of 2005 American storm Hurricane Katrina..
For those paying attention to earthly disasters, Australia has been impacted by significant flooding over the past several weeks.
Cyclone Yasi promises to be a potentially devestating storm is causing orders for 30,000 to evacuate the city of Cairns... There are fears of flooding, a storm surge, and massive wind gusts from Yasi..
And not just gay sex but also a gambling.. And all he wanted to do was treat his Parkinson’s..
The unrelenting cry for Hosni Mubarak to leave is not stopping.
Interesting developments occurring in Jordan: Jordan’s King Abdullah II, bowing to public pressure, fired his government on Tuesday and tasked a new prime minister and says he will give Jordanians more say in the government..
The storm is hitting about 2,100 miles in length of the United States with over a foot of snow, and there is a large radius around that 2,100 miles that will be burying people under heavy snow and a dangerous amount of ice.
Living through history typically means you’re living through something bad. And this storm is historic in its affects.. Which means it won’t be fun in the least..
Ice and snow abounds..
Slush covers the grounds..
Misery in your town.
A rhyme is the best I can come up with to deal with the misery of yet another storm.. this time affecting over 100 million Americans. The future radar of my area is appalling, frightening, and yet mesmerizing. If what they say will happen indeed happens, it appears there will be a massive ice storm that by tomorrow will have over 1 inch of ice in parts of the dark coal region of Pennsylvania and many other places too. That is a prospect sure to cause fear.. power outages.. no heat during a cold storm that has snow, ice, and rain all mixed together.. It may be nasty.
Hopefully not. After all, the staple of the great winter storm, the frozen pizza, won’t be able to be made without power..
We are slaves to modern life, aren’t we?
Tonight, Tonight — The Smashing Pumpkins.
May you’re night be filled with mid-1990s memories.
Enough with snow.
Enough with ice.
Enough with cold.
And hopefully it’s all gone by the time my child decides to tell my wife he’s ready to come out..
More and more planets are being discovered.. NASA images are going back in time. If you’re amazed with space and time, it’s an amazing moment to be alive on the planet earth.. even if you’re not, you’re being hurled into a vast unknown.. A time when doubt is abundant and answers are not. This is the future. And the future is now.
DISCOVER MAGAZINE is reporting that scientists are taking a very active role in trying to answer one of the many age old questions: Is there anybody out there..?
Discover reports,
"We still have no idea whether any planet beyond Earth harbors life, but that could soon change too: Scientists are increasingly optimistic that they will find evidence of biological activity on an alien planet within the next few years. In collaboration with the Thirty Meter Telescope and the National Science Foundation, DISCOVER invited four top researchers in the field to discuss how that extraordinary discovery might unfold"
…In a vast land of galaxies and who knows what else, the thought that we are alone seems foolish. Now what the other versions of the “us” would be is cause for …concern.
NASA cameras had a front row view to an amazing scene in space, as solar flares erupted two sides of the sun at the same time..
NASA placed images of the solar eruption on its website with some context behind in. NASA wrote,
"This still (below) from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) caught the action in freeze-frame splendor when the Sun popped off two events at once on Jan. 28, 2011. A filament on the left side became unstable and erupted, while an M-1 flare (mid-sized) and a Coronal Mass Ejection on the right blasted into space. The movie (above), taken Jan. 26-28, 2011, shows several other flashes and bursts from the active region on the right as well. Neither event is headed towards Earth"
Perhaps the last sentence in their press release is the most reassuring. Neither eruption is poised to strike the little blue planet..
At least not these eruptions.
Speculation has abounded for years that we are going to go into a period of dramatic solar activity—activity that could potentially hit a high point in 2012, according to experts that have been quoted in stories over the past several months.
These two flares, perhaps more than anything, are warning shots and messages of the sun’s power.
NASA also placed a six-second video on their website of the solar activity.
While the solar flares that were visible to the world didn’t sear the world, the images are seared into the memory of all who watch the sky and wonder, one day, if that massive ball of light will turn on the planet it warms..
Who, or what, is out there?
No matter the threat or vision of space and time gone mad, enjoy your rest. And hopefully you get some.. Goodnight world.
While I am not a typical ‘run to the store to get bread and milk!’ excitable kind of guy, the latest weather forecasts coming out from various model runs are giving me cause for concern.. A major winter storm, with blizzard conditions possible in many areas, and an nasty ice storm in others, is forcing me to evaluate and .. perhaps get to the store for a 2 to 3 day haul of food. Just in case.
It may be good to do if you’re in any of the areas tonight on this National Weather Service warning map in the blue or pink colors…Which is a vast and expansive part of the United States of America.
He writes,
The surge in global food prices since the summer – since Ben Bernanke signalled a fresh dollar blitz, as it happens – is not the underlying cause of Arab revolt, any more than bad harvests in 1788 were the cause of the French Revolution.
Yet they are the trigger, and have set off a vicious circle. Vulnerable governments are scrambling to lock up world supplies of grain while they can. Algeria bought 800,000 tonnes of wheat last week, and Indonesia has ordered 800,000 tonnes of rice, both greatly exceeding their normal pace of purchases. Saudi Arabia, Libya, and Bangladesh, are trying to secure extra grain supplies
Well, news just got worse.. it could end up being a significant ice storms in a lot of places by Wednesday.. With a half inch to an inch of set set to fall after several inches of snow, it may potentially be chaos by Wednesday morning .. I was hoping for a pure snowstorm if anything.. an ice storm is surely not something anyone wants to experience.
After today it appears he also doesn’t play for the Celtics..
Massive storm will affect 100 million Americans by Groundhog Day..
A cyclone is poised to strike parts of Australia that have already been ravaged by floods!
Closely watching Yellowstone: If an eruption occurs, it could make two-thirds of U.S. land uninhabitable. It could also disrupt thousands of flights and force millions of people to leave their homes.. And recently, as reported here and many other places, the ground has swollen 10 inches in places..
