The White House Correspondents dinner, aka “the nerd prom,” may be in trouble. The New York Times reports that both Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, two Conde Nast publications, have pulled out of their annual parties. VF editor in chief Graydon Carter, no fan of Donald Trump, says he’s going fishing that weekend.

Then there’s the satirical Not the WHCD being planned by the very funny comedian Samantha Bee and sponsored by her network, which is owned by Turner Communications, part of Time Warner. When Bee announced this last week it sounded hilarious at least on paper. But it also depended on people of note coming to Washington.

Comedy is dead in the Trumpland...but who killed it? The people who hate Trump filled rage or Trump himself by being who he is?

Doesn't it seem like the entire world order of things has been turned on its head and ferociously shaken??

A lot of proper journalists have turned their noses at the dinner as inappropriate. Tom Brokaw has been very vocal about it. “I would watch on C-SPAN, and as I watched on C-SPAN, I would try to put myself, kind of, if you will, in the person of an interested citizen in Kansas City, or in Little Rock, or in Spokane, Wash., saying, ‘That’s the Washington press corps?’ I mean, there was more dignity at my daughter’s junior prom than there is [at] what I’m seeing on C-SPAN there,” he told Politico.
Of course, a lot of people point to the 2011 dinner, hosted by Seth Meyers, as the moment Trump decided to run for President. Meyers and President Obama were merciless to Trump, who did not take the ribbing well at all. Maybe this year it would be best to have a smaller, non roast dinner, with fewer celebrities and no mention of the current President.

The fire at the William J. Clinton Birthplace, in Hope, Arkansas, broke out around 3:20 a.m. Friday.

According to Hope Police Chief J.R. Wilson, the fire is under investigation, but arson is suspected.

But the FBI is a bit perturbed about the reporting of the San Bernardino shootings..

Comey today told the media that the suspected assailants in the San Bernardino, Calif., massacre — Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik — wrote private messages to each other stating support for jihad. However: “So far, in this investigation we have found no evidence of posting on social media by either of them at that period in time and thereafter reflecting their commitment to jihad or to martyrdom. I’ve seen some reporting on that, and that’s a garble,” Comey said at a media availability during an event in New York City.

Maybe you should read that again. “No evidence” of something Jihad related.. ISIS related.. 

The smoking gun to connect this to a bigger issue of terrorism seems to be weak at best.

But that never mattered.. fear always win. Doesn’t it?
Nothing to fear but fear itself? The same person who said that also set up internment camps that later would be viewed as repulsive.

I can’t help but think a bit about the story we, and many others, reported last night: WALMARTs around the nation–5 of them–all shutting down suddenly because of ‘plumbing problems.’ Customers are skeptical of that claim. SO are workers. So am I.. And while I am not alleging any connection between the WALMART plumbing claim and the NY FED movements to Chicago, I am stating for the record: Everything seems to be a creepy hair trigger away from disaster as of late.. moments in which we seem to think that our safety is fleeting and chaos is knocking on our safe front doors..

With evil and darkness looming, religious people seemingly are gearing up for battle, too. Take for instance these headlines: Most British dioceses now have an exorcist at the ready.. From the city of Rome: A high profile exorcist is claiming that ISIS is Satan. Father Gabriele Amorth says that the Holy Spirit exists. And now is in a spiritual battle with the true evil, ISIS. The UK TELEGRAPH says that the Pope Francis effect is the reason that the exorcism boom has occurred. Perhaps it goes deeper.. perhaps it can be chalked up to the fact that people are truly feeling that the earth has been suddenly shrouded in spiritual darkness.


With all of the negativity, it may be hard to believe there is hope that someone,someone alive today as a matter of fact, may be the first person on Earth to live until 1000. Can you imagine living to 1000? Would you want to? Most people I asked today said no. . . until I mentioned that it could be a healthy life and that their family may also be able to live as well.. Suddenly their answers shifted towards the affirmative. And they accepted the new possibilities of a long life..

Let me quickly talk about a few things that really don’t matter. But they are most likely things being talked about by talking heads on talk shows that have endless talk.. Things like this: Hillary Clinton faked a photo op .. made a staged Iowa event look like a real campaign stop. People who lived through the 90s shouldn’t see this as any amazing feat. Just another day in Clintonland. Speaking of Hill’s hill of beans, BUZZFEED is splashing headlines on its site about how, according to their reporting, Hillary Clinton flat out lied about having immigrant grandparents.. But as life goes, every normal event–politics and scandal–has some weird and often paranormal aspect to it. Such as this: Hillary Clinton’s father’s tombstone has been topped.. I fear whoever may have performed of vandalism doesn’t realize that, just plain out, you don’t mess with the dead.. unless someone didn’t do it..

And now the rest of the story….

Content costs are skyrocketing, and some analysts say that the financial picture at NETFLIX continues to falter.. Rosy Scenario? Or Blight and Plight..?

A senior defense department official says the two men who tried to ram their sport utility vehicle through a gate at the National Security Agency were dressed as women.
The official says Defense Secretary Ash Carter has been briefed on the situation, which is being investigated by the FBI.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is still developing.
FBI spokeswoman Amy J. Thoreson says the scene is contained and that it does not appear to be linked to terrorism.
Authorities say at least one of the men in the car has died.
