It's almost time for observation mode. Until then, the varied forecasts keep confusing the professionals while the debate continues on the message board on Accuweather that I have been following for weeks about this storm!
I really absolutely cannot believe how much different all of these forecasts maps actually are..
The mayhem Nor'Easter indeed.
Watching closely..

Mid Winter storms.. bizarre mid-winter storms
This is mid winter (or it is supposed to be), but climate did not get the memo. The NWS is watching not 1 but 2 lows that have hurricane force winds in the NORTH ATLANTIC..
And a storm developing off the British Isles..
How many freak storms will we get until we realize something is ‘up’ .. ?
But remember. Earth changes are NOT happening. Tell yourself that one a few times and try not to laugh.

Christmas Eve 1955 Was Much Warmer
Yes it has been warm before.
And it is this year.
Enjoy a Heat Miser. You never know when the next really white Christmas will be.
In Irving Berlin’s 1954 musical “White Christmas” – the story line was 70 degrees in Vermont on Christmas eve and no snow. That was why they were “Dreaming of a White Christmas”

This is weather for spring time days.. not Christmas Eve..
But this is the year, as the AP reports here, the weather has changed and everything is upside down.

It’s beginning to look a lot like summer, just in time for Santa..
Seriously. This will be the temperature map around Christmas.. 70 in DC.. widespread 50s and 60s. No snow, no chance of reindeer tracks.. no need for a sleigh..
No ice skating.. No nostalgic Christmas feeling. Instead you may get a hint of a notion to try to find Easter eggs and wear a bonnet.
The Heat Miser victorious in ‘15..

This is the map (if you can read it) of a massive storm in the Pacific Ocean right now, Saturday December 5 2015..
OPC 09Z wind/wave analysis & 0930Z GOES-W infrared satellite image. The Eastern Pacific remains active w/seas up to 38 feet as a result of a storm force low (winds ≥ 48 knots) in the region.

Saturday night's alright for parallel universes
Saturday night’s alright for parallel universes
This has been making the rounds across the ‘socials’ over the past several days.. I figured why not give some air time to the strange photo on the HORROR REPORT as well.. What are you are seeing here is, to some at least, am image of a parallel universe in China: It appears to be a photo of a floating city in the sky above the nation.. It was a screen capture from a now very widely viewed YOUTUBE…

Just when you thought it was Armageddon, someone comes around and ruins it for you
Just when you thought it was Armageddon, someone comes around and ruins it for you
Call them the anti Debbie Downers.. a group has released findings that they say conclusively shows natural disasters are at a 10-year-low. But South Carolina flooding? But California drought? But.. But … The executive summary from AON said that 2014 was a below average year for catastrophe.. That doesn’t mean awful stuff did not happen, but on a pure number, it was less than other years when…

It may not happen but it’s sure worth seeing. If this particular weather model run from yesterday proves true, it will be a white Easter with a potential blizzard along the East Coast..
Yes, you read that right.
Not much confidence is in the model at this point.. but April is still a time when snow could fall—never discount the chance of it occurring by fluke.. April showers.. rain or snow. Hopefully May flowers will follow.

Much-needed aid arrives in cyclone-devastated Vanuatu
The situation on the island is dire—food and water and shelter are all gone for a population quickly ravaged by the storm. Ten are reported dead.. there are hints and suggestions that the number will rise as time goes on. One pilot who was forced to land in Tanna described pure devastation, with entire communities simply flattened.
Many officials and also world citizens are relying heavily on social media to see just how bad things are—the world has been reading Tweets and other citizen reporting from the ground where the storm struck.. One Tweet described a 21-year-old sheltering a 1 week old baby even as the roof was ripped off by Cyclone PAM..
And that is how natural disasters work. They come quick, they leave fast. They leave misery in the wake.. And deaths. Injuries, but also little quips and anecdotes of miracles that seem to keep humanity hopeful just enough to clean up until the next disaster..
