The summer of Art Bell

Art Bell and Keith Rowland have made it official: There will be July fireworks in 2015 .. the talk show legend is going to go his own way.. A podcasting style as opposed to the terrestrial or even satellite radio he did previously. This time he is greeting the 21st century with open arms, working out private deals to play music, hoping that fans sign up in big numbers to help his return, and beaming himself to every smart phone that wants him.

The show will be called MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT.

Bell posted two messages on Facebook tonight:

Midnight in the Desert is on the way! It is official now, Starting in late July we will begin streaming a full show from Mon-Fri 9PM- 12AM P.T. It will come to you Worldwide on the Internet in 64Kbps Stereo on Tune In which has a free app available for download right now.
Keith and myself have come to a agreement and the main Studio gear has been ordered. There is a great deal of work ahead and all of you who are friends and fans will have to help out when the time comes by spreading the word far and wide.
Wanna Take a Ride?
Art Bell

And the next:

From Keith: The Final Results, Art Bell IS Coming Back!
POSTED ON APRIL 14, 2015 IN BUMPER MUSIC, RADIO SHOW | 1 VIEW | LEAVE A RESPONSE
After extensive analysis and elongated negotiations with several suiters, we have decided that we can go ahead on the planned launch of “Midnight in the Desert” in late July, using a business model that will allow us to manage the entire operation on our own.
As was hinted by Art via his Facebook feed, we thought about it, compared the numbers and decided we could pay for bandwidth, pay the commercial licensing fees, pay our own overhead and still be financially viable, assuming the following conditions:

1. We have a considerable number of fans subscribe to a membership service that allows you to access the archived shows anytime via the website for a reasonable $5 / month.
2. We can sell advertising to be played during the breaks during the show. Not a lot, but enough to help pay for the music licensing during the LIVE FREE stream.
3. We can successfully curb pirated posts of our content to the Internet.
We’ll be operating under a certain specific licensing model that will allow us to ramp up from a “small webcaster” status into a large broadcaster in the future. It is imperitive that we earn enough through subscribers and ads sales to pay the bandwidth costs and music licensing fees. We believe that we can ramp up successfully using the current models in place at this time.
However, this happens to be the year (2015) that music industry participants are negotiating the next 5 years (2016-2020) rates for music licensing on the Internet. It is a wide open arena, and some license models may not survive. But we believe that we can operate under the current 2015 model for 6 months, and eventually fit into a 2016 model that is still cost effective.
We hope to recoup all of our investments within the first 6 months, so we can better endure the cost increases that will inevitably happen in 2016. If the fans support us with memberships and the advertisers are satisfied, we should be good for a long while.
Keep watching here for the launch date announcement and further updates as we can pass along. We’ll let you know when it’s time to promote the show.
— Keith and Art

A copy of the text was also placed on ARTBELL.COM to inform readers there of the return..

I do have a few critical thoughts regarding this. While on one hand I am celebrating the return, there's a little part of the 20th century boy in me that will miss the radio aspect. There are only about 2 shows I still actually listen to on radio. I have accepted the podcast world. I love it, as a matter of fact.. I think Art will be best, only though, on live radio. I am happy he is giving a free live stream with downloadable content afterwards...

As for the pirates? I don't know if there will be an efficient way to stop them. Recently Art Bell has posted on BELLGAB asking for users there to become his deputies around the NET this summer, scouring the sites of the hinterlands of HTML for any and all pirate streams. And then threatening legal action. But that is plugging a leaky hole in a flooding dam.. it's not just that easy.

As for the six month window, that is going to be a risky gamble.
And there are some, even on the ART BELL website, who are shaky on the return. After the quick SIRIUS XM quit--when fans were left trying to return hundreds of dollars in merchandise to the satellite company after DARK MATTER suddenly ended after Halloween--some fans have expressed hesitation to sign up for a monthly fee in return to hear Bell.  The other side of that coin, however, presents a much different picture of the situation at Sirius. Coast to Coast AM quickly showed up on the INDIE station after Bell left. Along with that, there seemingly were other things happening behind the scenes that perhaps even Bell will address this summer on MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT..

I think I'll make a prediction: Those fans that are hesitant today will be signing up tomorrow. The talent that Bell has will be hard to pass up, especially when compared to the monotone moronfest that Coast to Coast AM has turned into over the past several years since Bell's 2010 final departure from the 'hot air' of that show.

Summer is set.
Barbecues.
Fourth of July fireworks.
As the long and hot summer nights fill the air with heat and murky humidity, Art Bell will once again be broadcasting from the high desert for the world to hear. This time in a new century style..

The hot air will remain on the terrestrial side.

Midnight or bedtime?

Art Bell, back in his time, had a different take. He did politics for some time. But changing the format equaled a success that has been unparalleled by any in comparison.

Art Bell is coming back to radio. But will people back to him?

The fumbling mumblings of George Noory

There is a chance—some may disagree—but there’s a chance that George Noory is a nice guy. He may also be the luckiest guy on the planet..

Noory took over Coast to Coast AM several years ago from then host Art Bell.. I have posted quite a bit about Bell and Noory over the past several years. But Noory, regardless of ‘niceness,’ is also strange. And lucky.. Very lucky.

If you’re a newcomer listening to his show for the first time, your takeaway may be confusion.. head scratching that a man who mumbles so much, goofs up so many words, uses the wrong tenses, mispronounces everything, and so often seems to be aloof if not plain asleep during his interviews, still has a radio program. Premiere Radio still employs. And even more, he has 600+ affiliates.

Sure there’s some form of technicality that states if a station gets Rush, they get the other PremRat shows, too..

But Noory? Oh .. George.. A host with thousands of pages on a message board to documenting his every mispronunciation and incorrectly worded statement.. But the message boarders don’t have a radio show. George Noory does..

But then something happens, like what happened today.. George Noory appeared on the Alex Jones radio program to plug his ‘Insulate the Grid’ initiative, an attempt to help the grid maintain an EMP attack or massive life-altering solar flare. While guesting on the program, Jones attempted to swerve Noory into uncharted territory: Ferguson, Missouri. Noory maintained composure, spoke with confidence about how both the protesters should go home and the police should stop employing hardcore military tactics.. He blamed both sides, something Jones couldn’t counter completely live on air.. Further, Noory spoke with a certain bit of eloquence about why insulating the grid from outside attacks makes sense, and is the moral necessity of this generation..

(Speaking of Noory’s involvement with maintaining the grid’s security.. one eloquent observer notes some of the oddities surrounding Noory endorsing something of this nature in the comments thread on WORLD NET DAILY.. it’s a must read.)

The Noory that appeared on Jones’ program is not the same that hosts his own show nightly..

This Noory, the day time version, didn’t botch words or forget what he was talking about.. he didn’t zone out during the interview, but instead was very much engaged .. he didn’t mumble words or jumble sentences together sounding like a mindless bot..

I frankly don’t understand..
Is it possible—just possible—that George Noory is tired by the time his own program begins? Maybe he just…isn’t awake anymore. Perhaps he’s not the Night Owl he once was.. his metabolism is shifting as he ages in life..

Noory has often commented that he’s no Art Bell—the obvious master of the macabre of late night radio. But sometimes George Noory is no George Noory either.. The Noory of day time radio or interviews while the sun shines is a coherent human who makes statements that make sense.. the night time version seems more to be a confused old man grasping in the dark for the right word to say..

I don’t host my own radio show. And I probably could not, though I have often pretended I could. So maybe Noory is just nervous on his own show.. perhaps constantly trying to play it safe as to not annoy or anger the hierarchy at Premiere Radio.

Or after 10pm on the Left Coast, when the CHASE begins to play, Noory gets tired.. very, very tired..

Perhaps one of the scariest Clyde Lewis programs *and radio shows in general* took place last night.. Lewis took GROUND ZERO deep into the paranormal with a show about why we fear clowns. But things got a bit weirder.. during the program, Lewis also had a live online broadcast of a clown.. A camera was fixated on a lone clown doll locked in a room in the radio studio. And yes.. the clown did move.  Certainly worth the listen on Soundcloud if you have the time..

Cumulus Radio Stations' Ratings Plunge

What surprised me was how bad some numbers are… such as the giant WABC in New York being down 44% and KABC in Los Angeles being down 52%..

Even country music and sports channels are down..

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaO6Ktir67g?feature=oembed&enablejsapi=1&origin=http://safe.txmblr.com&wmode=opaque&w=500&h=281]

You may have seen this—or heard this—before..

Best not to listen with your lights down..

The possible true story behind this audio is that it was a famous radio hijacking.. the alien sounds replace the classical music being played.. about two minutes into the clip, the female voice begins to rhythmically recite names of people who died during the Pan Am bombing from the 1980s.. There’s more on the clip here.. There’s also some debate, on some boards, as to when the actual audio was recorded..

The audio has been online for over a year.. there are countless message boards, including this REDDIT thread, of people debating if they should even listen—and if they did, would they experience a “RING” like fate..

I was first introduced to the file by Clyde Lewis’ radio program last year.. I never quite got it out of my head, and last night Lewis played the file again during his program on weird radio transmissions and numbers stations.

While it’s really not known if this event actually occurred or if it’s a big hoax, or some sort of publicity stunt from years ago, this is what is apparent: The tape is freaky, frightening, and downright chilling.

If you listen, you may want to wait until daybreak.. Unless you’re into things that go bump—or squelch—in the night.

A Clyde Lewis show so good I may listen twice

I love Clyde Lewis. What can I say but that..

He’s an incredibly gifted radio personality.. he has the spirit of Art Bell and often the anger of Alex Jones, but is so much more talented than others who host nationally syndicated shows—especially those old ones with mustaches who attempt hosting..

Last night he had an already unforgettable show.. I just got through it and may very well listen again.

The show’s topic was ‘radio activities.’ Creepy sounds over shortwave, AM, and FM bands.. Famous historical hijacks of television stations.. weird numbers stations being played late in the night.. Odd sounds and voices coming from stations that seem to portend messages of doom. That and more discussed last night on Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis..

I recommend you give it a listen in your spare time.

With the lights off, of course..

A lot of people are lamenting the termination of John B Wells, including the guy who wrote this article titled "John B. Wells Fired for Being Too Popular and Truthful"

Dave Hodges from the ‘Common sense show’ also interviewed Wells..

I get that Noory is probably the worst host of Coast that could have been chosen after Art Bell relinquished the throne of AM talk show phenom.. But Wells was particularly divisive, especially after Ian Punnett left Saturday nights with a history of weird topics as opposed to controversial.

I received lots of emails, especially on my other site HORROR REPORT, concerning Wells’ departure.. most were praising him and angry at Premiere Radio.

Interestingly enough, many Wells fans suddenly seem to have lots in common with Art Bell fans—maybe not politics but hatred of Premiere Radio over how they treated their favorite voice of the late night air waves..

My take on Wells: When he was good, he was ok.. when he was bad, he was horrible. However, he showed much improvement over the years since he began, and even began to accept some Coast to Coast AM subjects with open arms, such as aliens.. he even did the voiceovers for UNSEALED ALIEN FILES, the weird show you can find on your local TV networks late at night when you can’t sleep..

According to the COMMON SENSE report, and other numbers I saw, Coast on Saturdays with Wells was pulling in over a million people. And sometimes, even as Wells himself bragged, he was getting more listeners on a Saturday night than Noory would get all week put together.

And the most telling perhaps was an interview Wells gave immediately after he was notified of his termination. He admitted that he only talked to George Noory one time, and that it was for one minute. Nothing else since then..

Humility is not on display with L.A. Noory.
Perhaps instead, Noory wanted to displace any competition from within..

The chances of Wells’ success leading to him as a full time host may have been less than possible, especially with Wells’ propelling some away with his Alex Jones lite beliefs, such as wondering aloud of the Sandy Hook massacre was a conspiracy to take guns..But nonetheless, Coast to Coast with George Noory does not want to be known as the same show with John Wells. And that is exactly what it was becoming…

One interesting thing Wells has said..despite his apparent lack of in depth understanding of the paranormal, he has stated hinted that Premiere Radio wants to “own” the paranormal.. and in that sense water it down and present it in their terms, and not the terms that a once great Art Bell would have..  It’s an interesting concept. Wells may have picked up on the big picture..

He is now going on in life to host his own internet show called the CARAVAN TO MIDNIGHT. Sadly it will be on during the midday—and also sadly for him, his show has been marred with technical difficulties that has stopped him from broadcasting when he said he would. Some say Premiere conspired against him.. Some said the same for Art Bell when suddenly, out of no where, Sirius radio announced that Coast would take over Bell’s spot after his short stint on satellite..

Premiere and conservative radio is a big Juggernaut. Premiere may be happy with the lunatics and drunks that listen to Noory.. and maybe they were getting a little unsettled with the knowledgeable and questioning souls that tuned into Wells..

And Art Bell? Well..he plans on coming back in 2015 with his own online show. Maybe it won’t be a Caravan to Midnight.. but it’s always midnight in the desert…

Saturday night auditions on Coast to Coast AM

The sudden departure of John B. Wells from Coast to Coast AM’s Saturday night slot has created a void. Last night, in hopes on plugging the leaking dike, George Noory announced that there will not be a permanent host at this time, but that instead guests will be asked to fill in ..

Noory commented that Wells left to ‘fulfill his dream’ of having his own radio show—though some messages by Wells on his own Facebook pages left an impression that it was Coast’s decision to terminate him from broadcasting.

Noory went on to speculate that fill ins like George Knapp, Dave Schrader, and Rob Simone will assume the helm on Saturdays. While a permanent replacement may eventually be chosen, it will not happen at this time.

Looks like auditions are in full bloom on Saturday nights.

Some on BELLGAB and other message boards have speculated that a drop in ratings led Premiere Radio to can Wells from the gig.  Recent numbers indicated that Coast ranked 14th place with a little over 3 million listeners, compared to Art Bell’s time of 14 million and 4th place. Even more, a number of people become perplexed as to why the show, typically apolitical since Bell’s hosting days, took a toxic political turn on Saturday nights with John Wells.

Last night, Noory addressed that very issue, though in a roundabout way. Noory said that the program, while thanking Wells for hosting, was going ‘back to its roots’ on Saturdays and focusing on the unusual and paranormal.

John B. Wells will begin his own online radio program next week, called the Caravan to Midnight. Ironically, the ‘Midnight’ show will air during afternoons on weekdays. It appears the program will feature heavy hitting topics like Fukushima radiation and gun rights, topics that Wells always tried his best to get on his Saturday Coast shows.

The reaction to Wells’ departure has been interesting, to say the least. While some who were with the program since Art Bell did not like the Wells style, it appears they have more in common with Wells’ fans than they’d like to admit. Both Wells and Bell left Coast under mysterious circumstances. Both have fan bases that said, or are saying, they will leave the program altogether because their favorite host has vanished. And both sets of fans, though different in nature, have taken to BELLGAB to criticize Premiere Radio and George Noory about the handling of the situations.

Wells would typically tell listeners to grab a proper cup of their own tea when listening to his Saturday program.
Perhaps one of the most poignant responses was from a Twitter user who, when responded to Coast’s new updated weekly schedule lacking Wells, posted a photograph of a cup of tea.

We do know this: Regardless of what happened with Coast or what happens on Wells’ caravan, he will always have a home in Alex Jones’ prison planet..

Premiere Radio grabs its proper cup of tea and ends relationship with John B. Wells

It’s really not a big shock.. Wells took COAST TO COAST AM into a politically charged world of controversy and conspiracy.. He rattled some nerves and often was a very divisive radio host. Now he’s done..

Some say people aren’t ready for prime time. In this matter, Wells wasn’t ready for AM.

Good luck John.
May your Caravan to Midnight be everything you wanted it to be.

Something brewing in the Kingdom of Nye
Anyone following Artbell.com will realize that the magic of just plain font on a plain background is amazing. In our days of blogs and Twitter embeds, Art Bell has seemingly seized all attention by just giving hints, Morse code, and letters that link to his past bumper music..

Right now there is a JavaScript code that has an ‘incoming message’ being filled.. Overnight, it increased from 55% complete to 70% complete—and message boards lit up with ideas and anticipation over what those letters and exclamation points mean..

And now early today, another larger exclamation point was added to Artbell.com linking to Maxine Nightingale’s Right Back Where we Started From. Perhaps the clearest indication that Art Bell is returning to some form of broadcasting and finally putting a stake in the heart of Coast to Coast AM, the show he created but left after Premiere Radio Networks led it astray..

Let the games begin..
Right back where we started…
..feeling like 1993 all over again.

Clyde Lewis is finally back on radio..

Last night, the long awaited return of Clyde Lewis on radio took place.  Lewis has been absent his hosting duties for several weeks since his operation to remove tumors from his kidney..

During his return program, Lewis was emotional about the operation he just went through, and was seemed concerned that his future may hold more bouts with his cancer..

For his return  program, he was joined on Ground Zero Radio by Al Jourgensen, the ‘godfather of industrial music’..   His subject matter was titled ‘In my time of dying’..

While his guest was interesting, it’s much more likely that listeners tuned in to hear Clyde’s harrowing tale of being under the knife, in medical are.

Clyde opened the program relaying the now most-sent news story of the “dead” woman who woke up on an operating table—just as doctors were about to remove her organs.. Lewis said it was something like that which scared him more than anything, especially since he has been through many medical issues in his life..

Clyde Lewis sounded heartfelt and graceful in his attitude and approach concerning his return. He had emotional words towards his finance, who undoubtedly has been affected emotionally by Lewis’ condition..

During his time away recovering, Clyde Lewis was forced to post a video of himself to prove he was alive, as rumors became rampant online that he passed away as a result of his cancer. Some on his Facebook page, even last night, wondered if he had returned too soon to the radio. However, anyone who listened to the show will realize that Clyde Lewis puts his entire heart into his job—it certainly doesn’t sound like work for him, but instead a way of life.

This website is  biased. We love Ground Zero Radio and have come to truly respect Clyde Lewis.

We are happy as hell that he’s back hosting the program live..

But we also hope, as did many of his fans, that he did not return too soon for his own good.

Prayers and positive thoughts will continue to be with him.

WANNTATAKEARIDE?

.— .- -. -. .-      .- -.-      .-      .-. .. -.. ..—..

Some savy internet users immediately realized that the hidden code would be discerned quickly at http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html .. it appears that a user on CoastGab.com was the first to crack the code—a code that translated to WANNATAKEARIDE, the saying Art Bell used to use when he hosted Coast to Coast AM..

It may be debatable as to who first deciphered what the code was, but it is even more debatable as to what it means.

Art Bell himself took to Twitter to write this:

A few minutes later, after giving credit to a Facebook user for being the first to respond to the code, Art Bell wrote this:

Anyone who has followed Art Bell for any given time will know that staying tuned means being very, very patient.

Since he joined Facebook years back, rumors were persistent that he would make a return  to radio. He has voiced his discontent with the current incarnation of Coast to Coast AM and George Noory, however he decided to not take deals offered to him to compete with the show—even going to Facebook to explain to his followers that he did not want to destroy the program he created..

But now, the most recent behavior indicates that he may actually come back to the spotlight in some form.

That or he plans on posting a new photo of an RV he intends on going on summer vacation in.

That is the mysterious part of Bell’s messages..

We can do nothing but stay tuned..

Developing..

If you want to see why Coast to Coast AM with George Noory is a shameful radio program, look no further than Noory ‘singing’ an Elvis song in Canada..

I am a supporter of freedom of speech. But I’d certainly favor a travel restriction and have the United States not allow Noory back into the country for crimes against the sense of hearing.

If you don’t know who George Noory is you may not appreciate this video. Or maybe you will because of how much of a train wreck this man is.

Either way, some inside baseball for Coast to Coast AM fans *or former fans* to enjoy..

This is someone interviewing Noory about his new “TV” show.. it’s Coast to Coast ‘in a tie.’

Two points that made me chuckle more than anything. Eight seconds in, you see Noory’s larger than life producer “Tommy” turning around to make sure his boss isn’t saying anything stupid again. And .. at about 1:27 into the video, we start getting a closer look at the rug that sits atop Noory’s head. The adhesive tape is clearly coming off around his ear where his sweat is building up under the hot lights of the health expo he pretended to know what he was doing at.

I don’t know what he reminds me more of: A used car salesman or a fraud minister asking for money.

What a freak show of a human..

CNN = Kidnapping story almost all day and all night.
FOX = Benghazi was covered up by President almost all day and all night.
HLN = Jodi Arias all day and all night

Former Coast to Coast radio host Art Bell, from his Facebook page yesterday.

He’s right on.. spot on.

And the comments made us all realize why we thoroughly miss him nightly..

Ugh.. Noory.

Sunday, May 5, 2013

I guess it is time to end any further speculation that I will return to the air anytime soon. I have given (2) very solid offers a lot of thought and have turned them down. My reasons are many, though I am profoundly sad at the current state of the show, both offers would have been direct competition with Coast and anger is the wrong reason to proceed. Also I really do not want to destroy what I built despite it’s current state. Asia will be in first grade in the Fall and getting up very early, I would be up late and sleeping late, I would not see much of her or Airyn. Life is short and I want to spend what I have left with my Family. I hope my friends understand…

I missed the 'dope show'.. but I will surely have to download today

John B. Wells, who should now be the main host on Coast since Art Bell won’t be coming back, had an interested subject matter last night, just in time for 420: The Dope Show. But the concept was interesting, and something no doubt many would believe in. That marijuana could be a great American money maker, and right now the only ones who profit from it being illegal are those in the illegal trade of it. Also mentioned, apparently, was the prison industry and how many juvenile offenders are locked away for way too long because of possession of the substance..

But the best may be the music Wells chose for the show:

PAPER PLANES by MIA, WHITE RABBIT by Jefferson Airplane, COCAINE by JJ Cale, and the DOPE SHOW by Marilyn Manson.

There will be no doubt that I will be downloading and keeping this one for future enjoyment.
