Gawker: Police Seize Woman's Camera After She Films Them Fatally Beating a Man
Last Tuesday, Maria Melendez witnessed a half-dozen sheriff’s deputies fatally beating 33-year-old David Sal Silva—hitting him with clubs and kicking him— in Bakersfield, California outside Kern Medical Center. She began to film the scene on her phone, yelling to the cops that she was filming them.
Melendez, who had been visiting her son at the hospital, reported that the deputies beat Silva for eight minutes as he screamed and cried for help. He was “basically pleading for his life,” said Laura Vasquez, another witness with Melendez. “Then we couldn’t see him anymore. That’s how many cops were on top of him.”
A spokesperson for the Kern County Sheriff’s Department says that Bakersfield Police Department officers had a warrant for both phones they confiscated last week. Law enforcement officials apparently plan to continue holding the phones, as part of the investigation into Silva’s death, and all of the officers involved have returned to full duty.
Are things just seemingly getting out of hand everywhere or can we blame this on the Internet that we now know so much..?

Pottsville, PA, neighbors mourn loss of life after Mother's Day Fire
This story hits me hard—and lots of other people in my area. Fires happen every day. But on Mother’s Day, when a mom loses her husband and all of her children, and her sister?? That just does not seem right, or just.. or possible.
But as I reported yesterday on here, it did occur this past Sunday in Pottsville, PA.
Last night on WBRE news, my local NBC affiliate, reporter Joe Holden relayed horrendous information. He reported that the Kelly Brown, the mom who survived the fire because she was simply catching up on laundry, asked firefighters to re-enter the burnt structure in order to find a bracelet that was given to her for Mother’s Day by her children. The volunteer firefighter did just that.. It’s one of those few moments that I cried at local news…
This is a depressing day in Pottsville, PA. Some would call the town depressed already.. anyone who takes a drive through will see a history that once was and a reality of the current that is now there. Economic changes have caused vacancies to be produced everywhere.. a bus station that was meant to be a local attraction is rarely occupied by travelers.. But there are gems and jewels amid the streets there. There are good people, great people.. moral and honest people. And they are coming together in the little city, the home of Yuengling beer.. they are crying together and trying to figure out why together.
I heard a story of a neighbor that heard screaming during the fire, screaming that the person assumes came from the children inside begging for help.
It’s these moments that make me wonder why God didn’t hear those cries.. It’s these moments we all… well.. You can contemplate the rest.

Why is it, that every time we see a story online about overweight people, we are treated to this SAME stock photo of an massive person trying to wedge themselves into a metal chair?
I think I recall seeing this image now for years.
And every time the media gives us a new article or study result on fat people, we get this same picture shoved in our eyes …
If only we could meet this person. And maybe ask how this picture changed their lives, now that everyone on the planet with the internet has been offended by it in some way..

Administrations devolve.
It’s raining over Obama now. And when it rains it pours.
But things can turn quickly.. that’s an is.
And it all matters what ‘is’ means anyway..
But there are important questions waiting to be answered. How many IRS officials knew of the political targeting? Did anyone in the White House?
How did such a huge confiscation and spying on AP reporters occur? This is unprecedented.
Why can’t the Administration simply stop making any references to that video, as we know now it had nothing to do with Benghazi.
If bad things come in threes, I guess the President is at his limit. But in politics, bad things come in multiples of threes. A long hot summer may be starting..

Prosecutors have sought phone records from reporters before, but the seizure of records from such a wide array of AP offices, including general AP switchboards numbers and an office-wide shared fax line, is unusual.
In the letter notifying the AP received Friday, the Justice Department offered no explanation for the seizure, according to Pruitt’s letter and attorneys for the AP. The records were presumably obtained from phone companies earlier this year although the government letter did not explain that. None of the information provided by the government to the AP suggested the actual phone conversations were monitored.

A dispatcher says four children and two adults have died in a house fire in eastern Pennsylvania. Schuylkill (SKOO’-kul) County emergency dispatch supervisor Bill Lindenmuth says the fire broke out around 11:55 p.m. Sunday at a home in Pottsville and that firefighters later found the bodies…
The AP has picked up the sad news this site and others reported early this morning.. A tragic fire here in my area.
However, I am humored that national news has to explain how to pronounce Schuylkill..

This video made me think back to high school… so on one hand, this kid is 100% right. On the other hand, 100% disrespectful. However, the thing I think more than anything is that he was sincere in his outburst. So in that regard, I support him. A lot of religious folks are celebrating the ‘celebration’ of mass that this 3-year-old is taking part in.. But it raises a question for me that is quite the opposite of one that some Christians may believe: Does this prove, or at least give weight to the argument, that reincarnation happens.

WFAA reports:
WEST - Bryce Reed, a volunteer EMS worker who frequently talked with the media during the aftermath of the West explosion, was detained and faces a charge of possession of a destructive device.
Reed served as a volunteer EMS worker for West and was placed on leave after the explosion. He was arrested Thursday morning and is being held at the McLennan County Jail.
Sources familiar with the case said Reed was in possession of possible bomb making materials. He is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate judge at 10:15 a.m. in Waco.
At this point, agents do not believe there is a connection to the fatal fertilizer plant explosion that occurred on April 17 in West.
The least we can say is this news is as least 'weird'

Vital ammonia coolant is leaking from the International Space Station, NASA officials say.
No danger in the immediate to the astronauts on the station, so sayseth the news sources…
But the headline just seems creepy.
I am amazed by space and all that goes with it. When I was a kid, watching APOLLO 13 in theaters, I began to realize how scary it would be to have some tragic happen in space. Also during the movie, my friends and I got yelled at by others because of how many jokes we were making during the film.. It was MST3000 era film-viewing, after all.
Nonetheless, this story of the space station coolant problem just cannot be good. It would be if a truck was leaking it, or a car.. but a space station? No need to panic, I suppose.

Years ago, ‘psychic’ Sylvia Browne told Amanda Berry’s mother that her daughter was dead.. Berry has now been rescued from the torture house in Ohio. Berry’s mother died a year after Browne gave her ‘reading’ on the Montel Williams show.. Berry’s mom was only 44 and died of heart failure.. And now, Browne is being attacked across the web over the event..

The body of Boston Marathon bombings suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been entombed thanks to a “courageous and compassionate individual (who) came forward,” police in Worcester, Massachusetts, said today.
Police did not say where the body was entombed, but did say that the body was “no longer in the city of Worcester.” The city’s police chief “thanks the community that provided the burial site.” police said in a statement.

Sadly, Amanda Berry and the others rescued know exactly what happened to them. The rest of the world will cringe as we slowly find out..
