Up to this announcement, any of the characters could have been gay. Admiral Akbar. Boba Fett. Hell, even, Lando Calrissian. Would it matter if Lando Calrissian was gay? Not at all. His role in the story wasn’t impacted by his sexual orientation. If I had read the headline ‘Lando Calrissian revealed as gay’, all I would have thought was ‘that makes sense: those overtures to Leia were overcompensation.’ Lando ran Cloud City, betrayed Han and friends, and redeemed himself by blowing up Death Star 2.0. Gay… straight… it didn’t matter.

And:

We live in a time where everyone is desperate to label everything. To define what something is or isn’t because saying nothing somehow implies intolerance. To me, the Star WarsUniverse feels far more intolerant because they’ve flat out told me there’s been no gay characters in canon until now. I liked it better when there was ambiguity to it, because it had no impact on the story I was watching or comics I was reading.

George Lucas sounds off: Disney didn’t use any of his ideas in new STAR WARS movie.. 

But while some fans may seen this as a shot at Lucas, let’s get real.. the ‘newest’ STAR WARS movies were basically a triplet of trash, some of the worst films I have ever seen.

Especially the PHANTOM MENACE.. should we really ponder why Disney didn’t use the ideas?

Sure, a young George Lucas gave us Darth Vader.

But the modern Lucas gave us Jar Jar Binks..

I think a new direction was quite appropriate when considering that..

"Star Wars: Episode VII" Cast Announced

The news is broken..
Opinions are being opined..
Doubts are being cast..
Stars are being cast..
And re-cast.
STAR WARS VII is being made.

Here’s the breakdown:

Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac are in.
John Boyega and Daisy Ridley are in.

These fresh faces are going to join Hans Solo and, Luke Skywalker, and all the rest..  Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) … No word at this point on whether they are recording voiceovers by James Earl Jones for anything.. 

Christmas 2015, as long as the world stays on its current course, will see a rebirth of a new STAR WARS. 

Undoubtedly this will become one of the most secretive projects in modern film. But does a new generation want STARS WARS? Will it succeed as the original three, or becomes a blip on movie radar as some modern films were? The PHANTOM MENACE still has not been forgiven.. Will VII be welcomed with open arms?

We will see in ‘15.

At Age 2 and a half.. my son Ayden is being introduced to STAR WARS. He’s wide-eyed and in awe of Lucas’ RETURN OF THE JEDI. I have high hopes his childhood will be fun! And also hopefully I will get to relive my own by forcing the 1980s on him!!

I am looking forward to dusting off some old VHS movies and getting the life out of them before they break. I hope my son likes my favorites

As I write this, Ayden  is currently screaming “DARTH VADER, get him!!!” as he clutches onto his Darth Vader pez dispenser. Funny, he thinks the Emperor is Skeletor from HE-MAN. This kid must be a reincarnated Reagan-era human being..

I’m not certain this would be ‘sexy’ on everyone.. Some would look more like LORD HELMUT from SPACEBALLS as opposed to any character from STAR WARS

STAR WARS.. from here until eternity!

Fans hungry for new STAR WARS movies are going to be hit hard.. we all will be.

Starting in 2015, Disney is planning a NEW STAR WARS MOVIE every summer.. By 2019 we’d see double the STAR WARS films that exist now. And as Entertainment WEEKLY reports, they are actually hoping that the movies start their very own spinoffs that become just as popular as the original movies..

In modern entertainment, there are two important things to consider: 1) Hollywood is out of ideas, and 2) When they have a great idea they overdo it.

And that is what I predict will happen with this flawed Disney plan..

A new movie every summer?

They will market aggressively. We know that..

The originals, however, are still more popular than the newer films. Because of the cast.. and the originality of it all.

These days we’ve seen it all. And we’ll be seeing it all over and over again every year..

A little too much star wars for me.
