Cleveland neighborhood asks, how did it happen here?

Outwardly, there is little about the two-story, clapboard house on Cleveland’s Seymour Avenue that hints at the horror that authorities say played out inside.

This is a pretty sad story, from beginning to end. And now neighbors are faced with a life altering question: What did they miss, and could they have prevented anything if they would have seen signs that clearly they didn’t.

The money quote from CNN:

"Why didn’t I notice anything? What should I have been looking for?" asks Mickie Wodgik, who spent years living across the street from Castro and, it turns out, the three missing women.

"Were we all that oblivious?"

Were they? … We are all like that sometimes.

This is a good story to exemplify why we should all put the phones down, turn off the TV and maybe just sit on the porch again and get to know neighbors……..

But the troubling question: Do we really know anyone?

There is so much in news lately that makes me sick. The latest of course if the abduction story from Ohio.. Sick stuff. And more sick stuff is coming out, even the report that Ariel Castro bought cakes for his victims to celebrate the anniversary of their kidnappings.. How truly disgusting..

Update on the missing women found in Ohio.. According to reports, child kidnapper ‘operated a torture chamber’ in the Cleveland home.. Prosecutor Timothy McGinty said he’d try to persuade a grand jury to indict the 52-year-old Castro for “aggravated murder” for the termination of his captives’ pregnancies. He cited a state law that a person can be charged with murder — a conviction that could lead to the death penalty in Ohio — for killing unborn children…

It’s amazing that the three women were found alive and are reuniting with  their families.. but now police digging for remains of babies, potentially aborted, after years of sex slavery.. The sick secrets that went on in this house are going to be revealed. Truth is like flooding water behind the gates, ready to eviscerate anything that holds it back. Sadly, Amanda Berry and the others rescued know exactly what happened to them. The rest of the world will cringe as we slowly find out..
