Perhaps the worst of the story, as reported by the POST:
He was cuffed and and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital. After several hours, he was hauled off to the 24th Precinct station house.
His 41-year-old son, a lawyer who would not give his name, first said at the station house Sunday night that did not wish to discuss his feelings about the incident.
“I don’t want to talk about anything like that in front of all these cops,’’ he told the Post
But walking farther down the street, he said, “The cops are playing games. They won’t tell me what he’s being charged with.”
He first heard his dad had been busted in a 6 p.m. phone call from cops, who asked if the elderly man needed medication but would not say which hospital he’d been taken to. So the son went to the station house, where he said he got a similar run-around.
Finally, he found out on his own that his dad was at St. Luke’s and had been arrested for jaywalking.
“Oh, great! Beating up on an 84-year-old man for jaywalking,’’ he said.
Neither the hospital nor the cops would allow him to see his dad until after 10 p.m., explaining that since he’d not been admitted, he was not a patient, but a “prisoner.’’
Is our sun falling asleep? The BBC asks that, and quotes a solar physicist of 30 years who says he never saw anything like what the sun is currently doing. Could there be a frost fair again on the Thames, as happened the last time the sun fell asleep during the 17th Century?
The 'polar vortex' is coming back. But not really. It will not be as cold as it was earlier this month. And I am really tired of news agencies scaring the long Johns off of everyone. This is winter.. it will be cold. It will snow. You hear that all the time. You want cold? Go back to 1994 in the Northeast when it was so cold, businesses and schools shut down.. People literally could not walk outside. I was 14 during the great American Cold Wave of 1994 and fondly remember it.. being off school was cool—adults had it worse than me at the time. But when you compare THAT winter to this one? I don’t even want to hear people talking about the polar vortex. It’s already the most overused weather expression of the year.. How about start telling people, “Well, WINTER is still here.” In the summer when temps reach 100 or more, what fancy term will we come up with to scare the hell out of everyone?

I don’t really think you’ve read much on this site.. I am from a region in Pennsylvania called the ‘coal region’ where anthracite coal is mined—hence the name. As for me? I am not a coal miner .. My wife and I bought a new TV and, while exploring, came across the app for Portico news. It was awful. Fake background, fake newscasters.. nothing real. It was so bad.
There is nothing ‘real’ about Portico news. The over made up and trendy dresses ‘newscasters’ stand in front of a green screen. They tell us they will give us news, encapsulating all the most important things in a nutshell for us in just 20 minutes. I could not even put up with 20 seconds of it! It was so awful.. It was as of
It actually began to make my physically sick. I was desperately trying to TURN OFF the Portico News feed but the television remote stopped working.. I felt trapped and hopeless. The Portico song kept playing over and over again, mocking me.. it felt like a harpoon of awful things directly into my heart.. Watching Portico news for the 25 seconds I did, I think my IQ actually dropped about 10 points.
I don’t think I have ever come across an app that made me physically nauseous.. If why wife would not have commandeered the remote and quickly turned the whole system ‘off’ I may have actually vomited all over the new smart TV. It was just that bad..

Yesterday I was amazed that scientists were ‘baffled’ by a rock suddenly appearing on Mars in front of the Rover. Today I’m baffled (and scientists pretty much silent) on an image of what appears to be a triangle shaped something on the moon.. It was caught using Google maps and looks like a space craft. Sure, eyes can deceive and things that look like something turn out to be nothing but shadows—a-la the Face on Mars.
Some international media sources have picked up on the Internet flurry of UFO activity, such as the tabloid METRO in the UK
Another site, TECH AND GADGET NEWS, appears to be getting the most credit with popping the story into the somewhat mainstream. They are running an article about how the triangle shaped alien craft on the earth’s satellite in the sky. While I was certainty not old enough to have grown up watching the program when they were new, I did live on reruns throughout my childhood.. The Professor got me through many sick days home from school back in the day.
I hope he rests in some peace..

I always find the synchronicity of life to be amazing. This article about an earthquake hitting Hollywood appeared just yesterday.. Today, there were reports of an earthquake swarm near L.A. There was also one yesterday.. And while it’s certainly not Southern Cal, Northern California had 55 earthquakes in just 40 minutes a few days ago..

Maybe I’m losing my nose for news, but I did not really know much about Asteroid 2014 AA .. I do now. It was the first asteroid discovered in 2014 and it exploded over the Atlantic Ocean. It was a car-sized asteroid and had the potential of striking the planet.
But what was absent? Warning. Yes, we know it was a ‘harmless’ impact over the Atlantic.. And we know it was ‘tiny,’ ‘small,’ and every other word the media can associate with something that we are not supposed to worry about. And obviously, living the life of Chicken Little always worrying about the sky falling is certainly no way to exist… But the fact that the asteroid was seen with only one day of time prior to the potential strike is chilling..
We are not intercepting fragments of the dead comet Ison .. We are being told fireballs in the sky may occur. There are booms happening everywhere—frostquakes they tell us.. Big earthquakes with multiple aftershocks taking place in Puerto Rico…
And now, there is a ‘minor’ meteor shower coming from the remnants of Ison. Minor. Nothing to see here..
Should we shake out heads at the timing of a warning from the Emergency Management Agency of Utah, telling us to stop and drop immediately if we see a bright light?

I have been frying it in olive oil as long as I can remember back.. Tonight I simply Nu-Wave ovened it up, and afterwards drizzled olive oil with fresh parmasean cheese.. Oh my God I felt like Gordon Ramsay, minus the cussing. After all, my son was listening.
Now if only I can get him to eat something besides a pop tart, we’d all be in good shape.

It always gives me a chuckle to think of my own personal history with Google (we all have one by now, right?) When I first started my quest for information on the superhighway back in the late 20th century, I found this ugly little website named Google. I realized that no matter what I searched for, it turned up the results I needed.. My friends on their Alta vista or their Yahoo! never had as much luck as me.. they scoffed at my Google.. they laughed at it.
That was long before Googling boyfriends or potential employees was in vogue.
Now? you wake up and search Google for weather, sports, news, and traffic. You look up pornography, you search for people.. you try to find obscure facts about trivia to amaze your friends and family.
But yet with all the domination, Google still can’t come up with a user friendly blogging platform—and God forbid you insert links in their iPhone app!
Nonetheless, they are on the verge of controlling all the stuff they don’t yet.

Ever seen the horror flick ad for CARRIE was made in which unsuspecting coffee shop patrons were treated to superhuman abilities, the push is on to push the envelope. The latest is from the film DEVIL’S DUE, which premieres on January 17, 2014. You can enjoy seeing unsuspecting people get he hell scared out of them by a demon baby.

You may have heard a huge deal of ‘news’ concerning what Iran has reported about who reportedly runs the United States: The Tall Whites, an alien species long talked about by UFOlogists.
This may take some time, and a suspension of logic. I will attempt an explanation..
Fars News Agency in Iran—the nation the President just made a controversial deal with—apparently reported that released Edward Snowden documents say that the alien species the tall whites have run the United States since 1945..You can read the English translation of the story here.. Apparently the Fars agency took some information from a January 11 2014 posting by the website http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1730.htm .. and after reading Whatdoesitmean.com, I still am not quite sure what it means.

Supposedly these documents also say that Dwight Eisenhower met with aliens in the 1950s … If you’re a fan or former listener of Art Bell’s Coast to Coast AM, you may recall John Lear appeared on his show to explain what he claimed he know of this famed alien visit.. Among the interesting things, the claims Lear said were to avoid the ‘light’ when you died, that there is no God, and that Eisenhower so feared the idea that Americans would find out there’s no God, that he mandated ‘In God We Trust’ be put on all coins.. Just last week, Clyde Lewis had a Ground Zero radio show featuring the Tall Whites as a main topic—the idea that this species has been heavily involved with shaping the world’s events…
Today, most sources laughed at the Fars agency report about the tall whites.. FORBES, CNN, all the rest, had a good chuckle about the notion that aliens were even existent..
Here is where things get murky — as if what you already read wasn’t murky enough, right?
I searched some terms from the Whatdoesitmean.com report about the supposed Snowden documents about the purported tall whites (lots of purportions being done here) but I could not find much of any actual source .. For example, I search this term, which appears in the original WHATDOESITMEAN report:

So the proof of this report is pretty much zilch.
Unless there’s a useful website out there, somewhere, with a copy of an actual document states something..
I have seen some folks who have stunned me in their height—and whiteness.. but at this point I’m not in the Lear/Hellyer camp.
A good abduction obviously would convince me otherwise.

About a week ago, I posted a quick update on what I knew of George Knapp, ace reporter and Coast to Coast AM part time host.. Then, I said he had sepsis and it nearly killed him. Last night, Knapp took to Facebook to explain more in-depth his personal life (something out of the ordinary for him, he typically keeps his personal personal) .. Knapp wrote,
I returned to the TV airwaves tonight for the first time in a month. I would not normally talk about private stuff in a public setting like this one, but wanted to say thanks to all of those who sent messages of support over the past weeks.
Back in early December, I came down with something called sepsis, a blood infection, and it damned near did me in. If my wife hadn’t managed to get a doctor to prescribe some meds without actually seeing me, I would not be here to talk about it. Had to cancel several radio shows and newspaper columns, along with assorted I Team stories we were working on but am now back on the job, appreciative of all the kind words sent to me by people who figured out that something was amiss.
Anyone who had sepsis or knows of its effects can testify to what Knapp said: It is so often deadly..
Thank God he’s still here—not just because he reports in a fair and accurate manner and had some amazing Coast to Coast AM shows—but because he seems like a genuine great guy..

There has always been something about certain weather elements that frighten me. Fog may top the list.. maybe it’s the movie THE FOG, maybe the abundance of fog in the paranormal.. Maybe it’s all those images drawn of the famed killer Jack the Ripper lurking in fog..
Tonight as I tried to quickly walk Mutley back the the house, there was a strange moon light above, causing the air around me to appear as if it was glowing a yellow orange hue.. It was amazing, but scary all the same. Every noise, every rustle of a leaf, and every tree moving in the distance, all sounded accentuated. It was as though something was creeping behind me for every step..
Safely at home, I now write this..
I am closing my curtains.. just in case I see a strange figure silhouetting under the fog drenched street light a stone’s throw away..
I’m not judging. We all handle grief in a different manner..

In my eighth-grade yearbook, I said I wanted to be a White House correspondent for TIME Magazine. My wife’s Senior yearbook had her majoring in science at a university… (I apparently had no goes my senior year)
We both still want to do the things we said we wanted to do, but different choices and events that shaped our lives moved us away from those goals..
It’s not too late for her, but by the time I achieve my dream gig TIME Magazine will most likely be a distant memory…
Maybe for some fun later, I will scan through some fun little pictures of a scrapbook I made in the eighth grade

If I had to make a prophecy, I would say this: There may be a surge in sales for a book called The Rabbi Who Found Messiah: The Story of Yitzhak Kaduri and His Prophecies of the Endtime.
It’s the tale, whether true or not, of the man who supposedly prophesied that the Messiah would return after the death of Ariel Sharon.
Headlines today, obviously, tell us that Sharon has finally shed his human skin and it somewhere in the other realm..
The author of the book is Carl Gallups. You can perhaps start your research and attain a fair assessment of his credibility on your own with a Google search..
In the mean time. Get your food and water. The Messiah is coming. Hope he has a GPS because he sure has been taking a while..
Top officials loyal to Gov. Chris Christie went to great lengths to make it appear that the closing of several toll lanes was part of a traffic study, according to documents released Friday.
He said he didn’t know a thing.. he fired his staffers.. he had a two hour press conference. Somewhere in there he had lunch.
But really, what did Chris Christie eat and when did he eat it know and when did he know it?
The documents even show that someone from the Christie Administration was physically on the scene during the lane closure..

In November, as a number of media outlets continued to raise questions, Mr. Drewniak exchanged a series of profanity-laced emails with Mr. Wildstein, cursing reporters and disparaging Mr. Foye, as well.
The documents also indicate that Mr. Christie’s appointees at the Port Authority had discussed the matter with Mr. Christie’s communications director, Maria Comella, as early as Oct. 2, after the second of two articles appeared in The Wall Street Journal. “Comella didn’t think much of the story. Said nobody paying attention,” Mr. Baroni texted Mr. Wildstein.
The emails also suggest the intimate involvement of David Samson, Mr. Christie’s handpicked chairman of the Port Authority, showing that he was aware of the lane closings before they ended on Sept. 13.
One week after Mr. Foye sent him an angry email about the lane closings, Mr. Samson struck back in an email to New York appointees at the authority. He accused Mr. Foye of leaking a memo critical of the lane closings to The Journal. When the New Yorkers said they did not believe Mr. Foye had done so, Mr. Samson insisted, finally warning, “he’s playing in traffic, made a big mistake.”
I am no political expert. Actually politics has made me become physically ill for some time now.. But in this matter, I am very interested. It is amazing how the media is able to propel a man into fame and fortune.. his attitude helps but the media attention creates the aura that he is a man ‘takin care of bidness’.. and then the downfall. The feeding frenzy.
The bigger they are the harder they fall. That may be the case here..
I think there is a larger story than the bridge scandal. These emails may uncover an attitude, not just a potential crime..
It continues to develop.. And the feeding frenzy continues..

It has been quite the night.
I guess you know you are meant to keep a dog when he runs away into dark cold woods and after a dashing rescue returns in one piece..
Around 5 o’clock tonight, Ayden suddenly decided to open the door to allow Mutley to escape.. Maybe it was because he was tired of the dog biting his toys, or maybe he wanted to set the dog free from the rules that confine him..
As soon as this occurred a daring chase scene unfolded! I immediately ran after Mutley the dog, over a highway and into the woods, but I couldn’t even catch a glimpse…
Ayden realized what he had done, but his little legs could not join in the search..
So many horrible things were going through my mind, that the dog would get hit by a car, abducted by aliens, or torn apart by Bigfoot..
I said to the higher power “if we’re meant to have this dog let it come back”
Not specifying the fashion I wanted the dog’s return to be in, the higher power answered in his own way.
My father, who joined in the rescue, was driving his car and saw the dog, the dog saw him and darted directly for the vehicle. This is where things get a bit murky.. My dad said that the car and the dog made contact but he said he was not moving at the time. Instead the dog literally railed head first into the car at about 65 mph running speed.. I can attest to that, I’ve never seen an animal on four legs run as fast as Mutley the dog does..
All is now well, the dog has no broken bones but is acting very ashamed.. My dad, as he is done through most of my life, made things right again. Ayden is building his ninja turtle Legos. Mommy is trying, as usual, to understand my meandering and strange stories. And I am just confused and tired from running 2 miles in one minute.
But we will all sleep tonight as a family..

There seems to be a big issue when re-adjusting to civilian life.. that, or the horrors of what these men and women saw in combat haunts them so much so that they choose to take themselves out of the misery of memories..

I am very conflicted with this story.
On one hand, anyone who reads this site knows I fret—sometimes outright fear—the future and how technology will be used to rid the world of humans and replace our emotions wand actions with those of the virtual nature.. But I’m a parent, too, who understands the dangers of society and how children can easily get lost in a K-MART let alone a big world…
So …I don’t know what to say. In a sense I get nervous about the government and big business monitoring our every move. I don’t like cameras watching my facial expressions in stores. I don’t like public buses recording my conversations. And I don’t like how far the NSA seemingly has overstepped some boundaries, at least according to the Snowden documents..
But parents being big brother? That may be allowable and morally acceptable in my mind. After all, constitutional protections sometimes don’t translate well when you’re talking about the relationship a parent has with a child. A dictatorship in a household is often the best course of action—not always of course..
So … The wearable flip phone tracker for children? I may be a fan. So now tell me, does that make me a hypocrite?

“The legal status of the moon is currently defined by the 1967 Outer Space Treaty of the United Nations.”
But he added: “There’s a strong case for developing international law in this area because in 1967 it was not envisaged that anyone other than nation states would be able to explore the moon. Clearly that is changing now and there is a case for developing the outer space treaty to include private organisations that may wish to explout the moon.”
He said there was also a case for developing the treaty in light of private companies who may in the future want to mine the moon for its minerals, but that it was unnecessary to worry about this at the moment as scientific exploration was still ongoing.
Makes me wonder if any other life forms out there in space debate the question: Who owns the pale blue dot?

According to the Pottsville REPUBLICAN HERALD today, firefighters were called to he Neale Mansion in Foster Twp.. The paper does not yet have specifics as to the totality of the fire, but the word ‘destroy’ in the headline is enough to cause me to think it’s a loss..

This would make the destruction of a house with historic appeal—and controversial appeal over the past few years.
James B. Neale was a coal baron who, according to books about him, was generous and took care of children from the area.. There are some very positive stories about Neale and idyllic goals.. James Neale was one of those coal barons who did little evil. . as a matter of fact, as the book "The Great Chance" explained, he wanted coal miners to be well housed, healthy, and sanitary, and educated.
People have long ventured into the area to snap photos of the expansive and amazing mansion..
The mansion itself was subject to years worth of controversy. In 2008, the owners wanted to bar demolition of the mansion.... In 2010, Foster Twp asked a judge to allow work on the mansion. In 2012, it was officially sold.
In 2014: It’s burned to the ground..
Sad day for those who love history, and those who long cherished the ideals set forth by one of the few honest coal barons of that day, James Neale..

Along with all of this, some people are being treated for water related issues .. from the CBS report:
