Several people called the KPIX 5 newsroom after Sunday morning’s magnitude 6.0 earthquake in Napa, reporting mysterious flashes of light in the sky. Witnesses said the strange phenomenon looked like lightning.
This is actually very normal—there seem to be reports around the world similar to this very incident. The CBS affiliate in San Francisco wrote this,
Friedemann Freund, a scientist with the SETI Institute in Mountain View, said the same thing happened during Sunday morning’s earthquake. And it wasn’t a transformer blowing up or UFOs.
“What they are, are a consequence of the stresses building up deep below the earth, seven miles like in the case of the Napa Valley earthquake,” Freund told KPIX 5.
Earthquake lights are an interesting phenomena.
The BBC ran a good report on the strange occurrences.. At that time, scientists were opening their minds to the possibility that these quakes happen with 5.0s are greater, and that the Fukushima quake had the same precursor .. Even more interesting concerning Fukushima: Not only were there sky quakes, but also the atmosphere ABOVE Japan heated rapidly before the 9.0 earth shattering shake that his that nation in 2011. There was the very good chance that the atmosphere was hit by the quake before the land was jolted..
While science is still investigating the potential reasons that any of this happens, we know this: The atmosphere and the land seem to go hand in hand.. and the latest 6.0 earthquake gives evidence that some things are deeper and more interesting than meet the eye..
Twenty-six students at a girls high school in Fukuoka Prefecture became sick Monday in an apparent panic attack, prompting the school to close for the day.
According to the strange reports from the Fukuoka Prefecture, the girls became sick during class and school ended up being closed for the rest of the day. Even more: According to Yanagawa High School, a private school in the city of Yanagawa, a first-year student suddenly shrieked in the middle of a class and fell down at about 10 a.m.
Two other students in the class fell into a similar state soon afterward, followed by students from other classes who came to check on the incident. Some of the students turned pale, though the exact cause of their sickness was not known..
But forgive me for doubting the ‘mass panic’ explanation.. a brief review of recent history concerning the Fukuoka Prefecture: Theatmospheric dose of radiation from Fukushima has been high there.. TheFukushima Diary website also has a tag dedicated to Fukuoka.. .. mass panic sounds like a nice and quaint way of saying something is very wrong and making people very sick..
It was 35 years ago, around 4am, that the nuclear reactor at Three Mile Island near Harrisburg PA experienced a partial meltdown .. So many evacuated. So much toxic radiation dumped into the Susquehanna river.. Even Saturday night live at the time spoofed the Carter administration response by showing Dan Akroyd, playing Carter, as turning green.
The world was gripped in nuclear fever—as much as those exposed to the actual radiation..
A few years later, Chernobyl occurred..
And now in 2014, 36”5 years after the Harrisburg disaster, Fukushima continues to unravel like a slow motion train wreck, causing a nightmare in Japan for the generation cursed to love through the horrid aftermath of the 2011 meltdown..
And if you don’t think there’s anything to fear about Fukushima, tell that to the young sailors aboard the USS REAGAN who are suffering tremendous signs of radiation exposure.. Those brave young men and women were among the first responders that the United States sent to Japan on a humanitarian mission after the quake and tsunami..
35 years after Three Mile Island, we are as radiated—and ignorant about the dangers of nuclear power—as ever.

There’s been a tremendous amount of conspiracy conjecture relating to Fukushima since the nightmare began March 2011.. but this article posted at the New York TIMES is hair-raising.. Apparently Japan’s government is trying to stop reporting of facts, such as this: Radioactive cesium 137 in the surface water of the Pacific Ocean COULD BE 10,000 times as high as contamination from Chernobyl. Let that, and other facts from the article, sink in a bit..

We’re Fuk-ed.. Radiation begins to hit the West Coast of the Untied States—despite all those experts who said no fear .. radiation is here. Of course it’s also being called ‘low level.’ Low level radiation.. It’s nice to put some happy adjectives before a dreadfully serious word, isn’t it??

But nothing to fear, Navy sailors.. Apparently smoking is worse than the radiation, so says a FORBES editorial about the disaster.. I am sure the author means well. Right? I’d be interesting how tied in with nuclear energy he is.. Nonetheless, the NOT DANGEROUS radiation will be making it to the West Coast by April.. Also the not dangerous scenario playing out at Fukushima is getting a little less dangerous as warnings sound that clean up pumps stopped working. Nothing to see here. The FORBES science author said so..

There is a bill that will have whistleblowers and journalists in Japan finding themselves in prison for divulging state secrets or even reporting and talking freely about the horrible effects of FUKUSHIMA!
It was so bad that a lawmaker shouted “This is the way the reign of terror begins!” during the vote.. Even VARIETY is reporting that the bill can extend and hurt filmmakers who are trying to expose information about the Fukushima meltdown.
Why is the entire world just ‘ok’ with a meltdown of epic proportions.. why is the entire world comfortable with hardcore radiation swinging throughout the Northern Hemisphere. And why, why the hell, doesn’t more more (at least in America) report on the beginning of the ‘reign of terror’ in Japan? I don’t know..

A good comment response to my post last night on radiation from Fukushima spreading around the world, to which I responded. Hope to see more comments on this. I think it’s an important issue. What is debatable at this point may be how much of a danger the world is in from Fukushima effects. But what is not debatable is how important the issue is; whether we have a future of fish we can’t eat and cancer or a future of nuclear power becoming more dangerous despite people’s current opinion, it’s an important issue. So join in the discussion..
Truth is the middle of two extremes. But how extreme is the most extreme of Fukushima..?
