The New York TIMES is reporting this seemingly wretched news.. It reports this from Brussels:
The top American agriculture official on Tuesday called on the European Union to do more to ease restrictions on gene-altered food and feed crops if it hoped to reach a trans-Atlantic trade pact.
“There can’t be a trade agreement without a serious and significant commitment to agriculture,” the official, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, told reporters on Tuesday, a day after an informal meeting with European farm ministers. European consumers “ought to have a choice” whether to use biotech foods, he said.
Mr. Vilsack has a tough case to make, though. There continues to be deep resistance to bioengineered agricultural products in the European Union — or to easing many other agricultural trade protections, for that matter. The fight over food, in fact, is a big impediment to progress in talks that are already moving more slowly than officials on both sides had wanted when President Obama announced them last year.
Very disappointing..
And in some ironic twist, this is simultaneously happening: Obama is forming a team to study Colony Collapse of bees.
So while the United States is busy defending GMO food as safe and secure, it’s also going to face some rude awakenings as they get deep into the honey bee trench. Many global studies have already hinted as a cause: GMOs and Monsanto’s Roundup..
But….
The American study may very well have a different conclusion. After all, Vilsack is telling the UK to accept more bioengineered food. Maybe some cozy relationships of the past is adding fuel to the cause..

A very interesting story is appearing in SLATE today..A former stormchaser now thinks the idea of chasing severe weather is unethical..
I will be upfront: I love watching live storm coverage, especially hurricane and tornado reports. But I equally think news forecasters who are paid by their employer to go into the storm is unethical. If one does it himself or herself, I think it’s based more on a passion.. I always think back to when Vince McMahan made Owen Hart get hoisted over 100 feet above the wrestling ring, and then he fell to his death.It’s a tough call..

There has been a dramatic escalation of violence in Iraq over the weekend as ISIS—or now ISIL (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant)—has been accused of mass murder. The accusation makes it easy when they go online to brag about their mass murder.. There are images and grisly videos circulating the world wide web.. the entire planet can now see the barbaric nature with which ISIL/ISIS imposes Sharia Law. And now this: Iran is directly getting involved with the conflict while the United States contemplates what else it will do.. In the meantime all eyes are on the Baghdad Embassy where personnel are still housed and militants take over more areas, closing in on the city..
At this point: 550 (or more?) Marines are on a warship in the Persian Gulf..
And of course there are some websites that argue the images are faked and photoshopped.. DUTCHSINSE paints a good picture that some may be, but not all are.. nor are all videos.. Sometimes “conspiracy” is shouted too often and too loudly..After all, let’s take a quick historical trip down amnesia lane .. Many are pointing out (rightly so) that the Bush adventure in Iraq was a bad move, few are speculating on how the recent movements by ISIS could actually be a product of the Obama Administration.. Lest we forget.. America’s allies are funding ISIS and so is America, too.. recent history tells us that it’s unwise to play our meager chess games in the Middle East. There’s never a victory..

America's Allies Are Funding ISIS
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), now threatening Baghdad, was funded for years by wealthy donors in Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, three U.S. allies that have dual agendas.
Some truth from the DAILY BEAST..
But you can go back to JANUARY of 2014 to find even more truth about ISIS and how they are getting their money—besides banks in cities they take over in Iraq. The UK TELEGRAPH reported in January that the United States was secretly backing ISIS with millions in cash and weapons.. And even prior to that the WASHINGTON TIMES reported that US allies were letting funds flow freely to ISIS.. GLOBAL RESEARCH reported on all of this in April of this year ..
So we fund them in Syria.. but bomb them in Iraq …? We are ok with their beheadings of Assad’s forces but anti beheadings of the Shiites?

When your child is three, don’t fret too much. Things will change, surely.. Attitudes change.. mood swings get intense.. But the love is still immense.
It’s amazing to have conversations with your son or daughter.. it’s unbelievable to fathom that they have opinions, tastes, wants, desires.. hopes.. and yes, fears. They see shadows and ponder the source, and hear sounds and wonder the location.. They fear what’s under the bed. But deep down, don’t you, too? Whether it’s the childlike reality or the modern day adult version, we still fear the unknown.
I certainly do..
Ayden is three, going on 30. Still over 20 months until he would start a traditional Kindergarten, but I fear that.
I fear bullies and I fear violence. I hope we raise Ayden to be himself and listen to his own voice, instead of falling for peer pressure.. I hope my wife and I bring Ayden the best of the world but warn him of the worst..
And I hope and pray to whatever God is above or below that the boy has a life worth remembering..
Ayden made me a card at day care the other day. It was a paper cutout of a tie colored by him, with a note inside saying he loves me. He wrote his own name *with help* but was exceptionally proud of it.. I was too. I proudly hung it on the refrigerator (trying to find room around all of the other things he brought him for me and his mommy) ..
To me Father’s Day is a day of practicality.. Love.. and abundant joy over having a child who hopefully looks up to you and always will.
I plan on singing along with Ayden to songs from Phineas and Ferb episodes to celebrate. I hope we still can do such things when he’s 13 and 33..

The devil’s in the details. And maybe in the clouds.. This image was shot at a UK rock festival.. There was a heavy thunderstorm and this face-like feature ensued in the clouds. Of course the instant rejection occurred as readers said the image was Photoshopped, but judging from the comment thread on the article, the image was real, as some testify. The story of Casey Kasem has been fascinating and mostly sad recently.. While now we know where he is, the chances of the world losing this icon is greater. Media reports now indicate that the star is near death … but it’s at the hands of his own family. Some of that have opted to stop giving Kasem food, water, and medication through his feeding tube. According to the family, Kasem had a wish prior in writing that he did not want to live under the conditions he is in now.. So with that, Kasem’s demise is coming. A life will be over.. but his voice will live on in infamy. Each and every time you watch SCOOBY DOO.

Unless you’ve lived under a rock (or chosen not to watch 99% of TV like me) you have heard of the Long Island medium Theresa Caputo.

20 years ago this month, the entire nation was fixated on a slow motion drama that played out on LA freeways.. OJ Simpson was evading the law in a white bronco .. eventually police arrested him, and the rest of the story played out, ending with an innocent verdict for the murder of his wife and her friend..
It was pre internet but it was huge. All TV networks joined in the live footage as it played out. CNN is offering up a few things of surprising note about the OJ ‘chase’..
I remember a few things.. I was 14 years old.. I was eating a large DEVITO’S Italian Eatery Sicilian pizza (sadly the Ashland PA restaurant has since closed) and I was watching like the rest of America to the drama as it played out.. Not being much of a sports enthusiast at that age, I just recall the sadness knowing that my favorite goofy cop from the NAKED GUN movies may have been a murderer..
Now all these years later.. CNN is beginning a good year’s worth of ‘20 years later’ coverage of this event.
I just remember how much the nation was gripped by this story.. Television sets were brought into workplaces and schools during the trial, families were torn apart in anger over whether he was guilty.. and race became an issue when TIME magazine chose to darken OJ’s face as opposed to the NEWSWEEK real version.
Back when print mattered.
Back before the net.

This is a huge story taking place—and most of the media is paying little to no attention to it..
Several places in the South are now locations where makeshift holding centers are being built to house illegal immigrants pouring into the United States—children being a big number among them.. And now obviously, this story from CBS in Houston is relaying the sicknesses being suffered by children eating the food being given to them by the government..
There have now been three military bases tapped to house illegal immigrants streaming into the United States.. Officials are claiming that the children are being cared for despite abuse allegations being made..
A recent ‘tidal wave’ of children have been pouring into the US from largely central American countries—media reports indicate that many kids are coming in to be with parents already here..
The news on this matter should be reported by media affiliates. It seems to be the beginning of a humanitarian issue within the borders of the United States..

Maybe the mass grave mystery in Ireland is going to begin making sense
We now know this:
Over 2,000 care-home kids were secretly vaccinated against diphtheria in the 1930s in medical trials undertaken by international drugs giant Burroughs Wellcome, Irish media reveal. Among the testing sites was a recently discovered mass grave.
The medical records cited by the Irish Daily Mail show that some 2,051 children and babies across several Irish care homes may have been subjected to the practice.

And to another questioner who called me names (so I will not publish that one): I know Slenderman is not real.. I get he was made up. But the meme and tupla existed far longer than the Slenderman of internet fame.. the powerful image of a faceless tall man has been around for some time.
The real issue here is not that Slenderman has come alive and taken over minds, the real issue is that the media is going to sensationalize a monster that is not real..
