Starbucks offers workers free college tuition

There are some strings attached and limitations within, but it’s quite an adventurous venture.  SO  now you know..A shame a college degree these days is worth as much as a Starbucks cup of coffee..

College schmollege

I am truly beginning to think colleges are a big BIG waste of time and effort. But then again, no one will consider you for work unless you have a degree from a University (Other than Phoenix)

I feel like starting my own school. the Google School of Self Knowledge.

You can take a test after four years of learning everything you want on Google. The test will be Google free, though, you cannot use a computer. If you pass, you get a degree..

So this is what happens when Congress wants to 'reform' something: Student Loan Calculator

The website http://democracyforamerica.com/studentloandebt shows you exactly how the new Senate school loan bill will effect you. For me, I better pick a higher monthly payment … read it and weep.

Penn State Pride.. Happy Valley.. welcome to the new world

Happy Valley couldn’t be sadder today. Penn State University has been hit with unprecedented penalties by the NCAA.

The ‘death penalty’ was not imposed on the football program, but it may as well have been.

The NCAA ordered:

  • No bowl games for four years

  • Scholarships reduced from 25 to 15

  • $60 million fine

  • 14 seasons of football victories from Paterno taken away

The online world.. the cable television world. .the sports world.. the bars of America.. all will be talking about today’s news concerning Penn State. Few will talk about the victims of sex scandals.

We will.

Jerry Sandusky was accused, prosecuted, and convicted of systematically using a charity to get underprivileged kids into his sex ring. He showered with them, and brought them to his house to rape them. The underage boys were also not helped by the University and Joe Paterno after a cover up ensued because top officials wanted to protect the name and reputation of the school… and now, due to their actions for years, the reputation of Penn State and the football program lays in ruins. Yes, this is why these penalties were imposed.

This is why.

Looking at the calender, time appears to be fleeting.

The seconds hands on the clocks fly around in a circular motion.. after all, summer time is about halfway through.

Yes, it’s only July. And sure summer extends well into September, but by then kids are back in school and colleges campuses are less than sober. Every July, around this time, I get that gut feeling. Then the whole “Christmas in July” shopping experience malls used to try back when people went to them only added to the childhood misery of knowing that the clock was ticking.

There is something interesting about the summertime and how it trickles slowly into autumn.

Even with this year’s heat, we can be aware that cooler breezes will blow in two months.

And despite the fact that many of us are long gone from hallowed hallways of high schools, we all get that same pit of the stomach feeling as August winds to a close, and as the summer sun bakes the landscape in one last vibrant attempt to keep things hot.

Summer comes and goes..

The same in 2012 as it was in 2001 and 1991. Enjoy these moments while you can. Be alive … take in some rays.

Wear sunscreen. (I never liked that song.)

Question of the night: Is a college degree worth the cost?

Point: College grads can’t find jobs. Student loan debt is passing the $1 tril mark, and higher than credit card debt nationwide…

Just in time for graduates to start pay bills: The college conspiracy

Ever wonder if high-priced school loans were a waste? Ever want to get involved in a construction trade but were told ‘no’ by someone smarter? Have you ever experienced the lack of knowledge of guidance counselors in school telling you to pursue the wrong thing, and then years later being stuck in the pit of college debt?

Lots of us have..

And as a recent college grad myself and still in the same job I have had all throughout my schooling, I think I’m ready to concede that college is not always the best way to go..

So for those who think that way, too, a new documentary is here to assist you in your knowledge and point of view called the COLLEGE CONSPIRACY..
