If they started crying, I would take their face and tell them, ‘It’s going to be OK.’ I wanted that to be the last thing they heard, not the gunfire in the hall.

Vigils, services honor Connecticut school shooting victims
(Photo: Andrew Gombert / Pool / EPA)
Residents from around the region streamed Friday into Saint Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Newtown, Conn., to mourn the 20 children and six adults who were killed when a gunman opened fire in an elementary school.
Abc news gets the scoop but the photograph is from 2005… Abc news also reports someone saying Lanza was 'Obviously not well'
The story in when Adam Lanza killed his mother is evolving..
A hush all over the world
I went to the mall tonight with my son only to find a very crowded but very quiet shopping plaza..
Nobody was talking, just kind of blankly staring at each other as they passed by each other.
Christmas music was playing in the background and people were trying to get their last-minute holiday shopping done before the season runs out of time. But there was something strange about the crowd.
As I mentioned it was purely quiet, again the only sound that was heard was the jingle of the bells from the loudspeaker above..
It is like a shroud of sadness was hanging over all the people there.
The events of the day in my mind that made this happen. Perhaps some were looking for escape routes in the mall just in case anything else would have flared up, or maybe we are just looking at each other in a days look thinking ‘How could someone do that to so many young children’
My son is very young, younger than the kindergarten age. But at this point does age really matter?
Anyone that dies in a senseless act of violence is one too many dead.. But when young children who are filled with innocence and love are taken away from this planet by a maniac wielding to high-powered guns, that is beyond senseless..
So the mall was quiet tonight, that I know. But what were we all thinking? Perhaps too many thoughts to even write about..
I cannot help but think about how this is now permanently changed Christmas for at least 28 families, a town, a state, a nation, and the national psyche..
No matter how cliched the term has become: we will never be the same again.
Adam not Ryan
The name is the alleged shooter is Adam Lanza..
Also in points the media goofed on so far: The media broadcast and widely circulated a photo of Ryan Lanza. Trouble is they seemed to just randomly pick a Lanza without regard to whether it was the suspected killer or not—and now the suspect is Ryan’s brother Adam..
Developing media story..
Reports now indicate..
The gunman was 24.
His mother taught kindergarten at the school where the shooting occurred.
The story is developing and changing..
We are living in a video game shoot-em-up drugged out culture
If people aren’t on ‘illegal drugs’ are they hooked on the prescribed kind.. I don’t know a thing about the Sandy Hook school shooter yet, nor do you.. but I bet we will learn quite a bit.
The only thing being reported so far is that he was 20 and the dad of a student there..
FOX NEWS just reported that the shooter began his spree in a kindegarden classroom today
I am revolted.. I am moved. I am crying like hell.
CBS news and other sources are now reporting that at least 27 are dead in the Connecticut elementary school shooting
Notice at least 27, that’s right, at least 27, which means there will be more numbers coming out shortly
I am absolutely astonished and horrified by the news today, the Christmas season brings out the best in people and the worst in people, as we learn more about who shot and why we will see how the worst was brought out in someone today

Shooting reported at Connecticut elementary school
(Photo: Shannon Hicks / The Newtown Bee)
State police were responding to reports of a shooting Friday at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., State Police Lt. Paul Vance told NBC News.
Vance had no information as to possible injuries and no information on the apparent shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
The Newtown Bee reported that one child, apparently wounded, was carried from the scene by a police officer.
Such a terrifying photo. Kids should not have to deal with this, ever.
This picture should make all of us pause.. Seriously an elementary school shooting? The children with frightened faces is striking .. This is a disturbing day..
The USGS said this morning that two twin quakes struck off the coast the coast of California and Mexico. One tremor was a 6.4, another was a 6.1. Both were recorded at shallow depths. The earthquakes occurred only within seconds of each other..
There was 80 miles between both quakes, making it unlikely that the second was an aftershock..
So far this morning, no reports of damages have been seen, but people do confirm that they felt the shaking.
BIEBER PARTS: DETAILS REVEALED ON CREEPY KIDNAP PLOT
Some may joke that they wish Justin Bieber would be castrated. But a scary story from reality shows some may have almost had their wish granted..
There is news trickling out of the gossip BYTES online about Bieber, and a kidnap plot that would have resulted in the castration of the star, along with high prices for his testicles.
According to the story, an obsessed man named Dana Martin, worked with two other man in a plot to get Bieber’s package, and kill him.. According to the story, Martin and company is accused of arranging other men to kidnap Bieber and strangle him with his tie. Additionally, a bounty was placed on Bieber’s ‘head’ of $2,500 per testicle..
Ironically, Martin sports a Bieber tattoo and reportedly, the plot originated after he became angry that the star failed ignored his repeated attempts to contact the young star.
While the kidnap plot was thwarted, there is little evidence that it would have been successful if put into action.
While the world may mock and laugh at Bieber’s rise to stardom, wishing anything but safety for him is awful.
However, the fact his testicles would have gone for $2,500 each? Well that makes me wonder if a black market exists out there for such parts..

I am quite tired of hearing about the fiscal cliff
Seriously, it is becoming the most over-used political term of the year. And it just took about a month for it to become that..
Can we use some other phrase now? Financial Apocalypse maybe? The Fundage Armageddon? Maybe the Money Massacre? The Line Item Limbo?
Just enough of this fiscal cliff.
Although I would be my money on this: Porn industry moguls are going to be able to come up with a great parody of the fiscal cliff by using a word that sounds similar—one I will not even write for fear my son one day will read this ..

I hate Caillou
Hate is a strong word.
My wife and I are somewhat annoyed with the whiny Caillou, but we deal with him because our son likes him. Ayden will grow out of it.. Until he does we tolerate it.
Why does George Noory think he's a good singer?
He is a fool. Seriously, a big fool. His ego is even larger than his awful toupee (if that is hairpiece that is, it could be a weave or some type of medical extension put in)
Nonetheless, I am sure you are referring to Mr. Noory singing as though he is Elvis. Which is purely awful …
Art Bell is alive and well. But he is still rolling in his soon to be grave watching numbnuts try to host a late night radio show with hundreds of affiliates, destroying everything Art Bell created on Coast to Coast AM.

Nelson Mandella is in the hospital for another day, and now has “stopped talking,” according to media a report.
Mandella is sick.. But didn’t this happen before?
For those who are not aware of the paranormal angle of Nelson Mandella, there are some out there who consider him to be a representation of time slips. He died before, according to the recollection of many people—including Art Bell, who took calls from people that agreed they remembered watching Mandella’s funeral on TV
Mandella remains in the hospital along this time line. I don’t know what happened in others..
are you done your xmas shopping yet?
This question was one of the more random ones I have ever received.
The answer: No. I am not.
And on that note, as a matter of fact, if anyone comes across any relatively good seats for nice prices on Pink tickets for her March 2013 Philadelphia concert, let me know.
I read your story about 12/21/12. So do you think the world will end?
You are probably referring to this story posted yesterday: THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT
The short answer to your question is: NO. I
But I think it will be mighty strange watching so many think it will end. I just hope, given the fears some people manage to hold in them, we don’t have persons acting out in bizarre ways to injure each other.
Stay safe out there, everyone. We will wake up on December 22 with the same bills and Christmas decorations we went to bed with.
And if I’m wrong?
Well, it won’t matter really will it…
The lyrics were much, but Psy's anger is understandable especially considering at the time--which was a DECADE ago--the Iraq War wasn't very popular nor was any American military occupation in foreign countries. The anger was in reaction to two Korean girls being killed. It was an accident, but the soldiers involved were acquitted and a S.K. missionary was executed in reaction to Korea's support of the US. As an American, I admit that our country isn't all pure and good as we'd like to think.
Thanks for the note. Your point is well taken. What I find amazing about this story though is how, now that PSY has been forced to apologize, some in stardom have to almost shed their true feelings and put on a fake exterior just to keep allowing the money to flow in.
Think of it.. this guy rises from nowhere and becomes a 2012 sensation, to the point of which he is on the AMAs and his dance is being attempted by drunken fools at weddings across our American landscape. And then we come to learn that he was disgusted enough by America prior to this to write a song about it in which he calls for some horrific things to happen to it.
The same America that is furnishing his pockets with cold hard cash.
The fact it’s even occurring is the story to me. The irony of it is what I am interested in.
I could care less if he harbors anti-American sentiment, anti-Russian, or anti-Martian. What it comes down to for me, personally, is that the Gangam style stuff is beyond sophomoric and I am truly confused as the way it excelled to a top spot in music this year. But I am equally confused by Justin’s Beiber’s rise to fame. So there’s two things I cannot grapple with in our current American pop culture.
I recall the Dixie Chicks’ fall from grace because they criticized president Bush during the Iraq war. I found what happened to them to be grossly unfair and diametrically opposed to what America was truly about (you know, free speech, remember that?) So I am not about to say that PSY does not have the right to speak or write whatever in the world he wants to.
But I will simply say that the irony cannot be escaped. The fact this story sees the light of day a week or two before he performs in front of President Obama adds drama to the whole situation.
Hope that explains my point of view a little better.

The future is now: The eyes have it
Texting while driving may take on a whole new danger as the future hits us like a brick wall..
The world is about to get this: Text messages that get delivered directly of your contact lenses..
The UK TELEGRAPH reports:
"This is not science fiction," said Jelle De Smet, the chief researcher on the project, who believes commercial applications for the lenses will be available within five years.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
I feel fine.
It’s funny, I recall years back in me teenage years in high school during the late 20th century.. Bill Clinton was having relations that he denied, the economy was great, and I was putting cheap gas into my first car in order to drive around and waste it. Oh, and I was making tons of jokes that by the time 2012 came, nothing would matter since it was the end of the world. Kids back then didn’t know what I meant. But I always prided myself in knowing the best of the doom and gloom scenarios of the future. (Water wars by 2025 I predict)..
And now here we are! Doomsday 2012! The Mayan calender is set to end this month, or some say. A new period of time begins. Or the end occurs.
So it’s only natural that panic is setting in. While most people partied like it was 1999 when the century turned 21, others though Y2K would shut the world down and bring about the end of our world.. Others committed suicide when a comet flew by earth. We have been here before. Panic and fear.
But this is the big one. This is the mother of all end time scenarios.
Even though Mayans are getting pretty angry that people are misinterpreting their calender, we are still doing it.. People are stockpiling food. A certain bit of the collective consciousness thinks the end is nigh.
Here we go. It’s going to be a wild ride to the end of the Mayan calender.
Did anyone ever wonder why the Mayans just didn’t buy a new calender when their old one ended??? I guess there were few book stores back then, too..
So which of the four horsemen is your favorite? The pale one? And with him comes death.
Kill those f***ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives/Kill those f***ing Yankees who ordered them to torture/Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully
A rap from rapper PSY. Clearly these words are not as common as the dreadfully annoying Gangnam Style.
But he seems to really hate the USA—the same USA that has welcomed him with open arms..
PSY is also slated to perform in front of President Obama at a Christmas special this month.
We will see if that happens..
Some other news of the world..

Washington state lights up in a blaze of marijuana
More from the TELEGRAPH:
However, the Seattle Police Department told its 1,300 officers that until further notice they shall not issue tickets, and no officers were present at the Space Needle event.
On the city’s police website, spokesman Jonah Spangenthal-Lee said: “The department’s going to give you a generous grace period to help you adjust to this brave, new, and maybe kinda stoned world we live in.”
He added: “The police department believes that, under state law, you may responsibly get baked, order some pizzas and enjoy a Lord of the Rings marathon in the privacy of your own home, if you want to.”
The department also posted a picture of actor Jeff Bridges as the cannabis-smoking character “The Dude” from the comedy film “The Big Lebowski”.

This is Girardville, Pennsylvania, tonight. The Jiffy Mart has stood for decades. And now it’s burning to the ground.. those who live in the coal region or who did live in it will know this is a pretty big deal. This is a huge chunk of history in a small mining town vanishing before firefighters’ eyes.. Sad night in the coal region.

The Tuesday radar. What I read this morning and suggest you do, too
On the radar for November 27, 2012:
Sunspot 1620 continues to expand. It has the chance to produce some very strong flares and potential CMEs.. A bright Coronal Mass Ejection appeared to be visible from the sun early this morning, however the impact will not be on earth, but instead deep space..
Tom Bogdon, the director of NOAA’s SPACE WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER, is closely monitoring the solar cycle, even warning that the upcoming solar maximum may spell problems for the planet earth..
Stan Deyo, the man who predicts earthquakes, said that he has been watching Southern California for seismic activity. Deyo told George Noory on Coast to Coast Am last night that he is 90% accurate in his quake predictions.. He said he sees a potential 4 to 5 quake within a few days of the 24th of November. Deyo said the small earthquakes taking place right now in the zone he predicted may mean that his original prediction may not hold.. Deyo said he will be able to give advanced warning to large quakes. Time will tell if Mr. Deyo is full of bunk or 90% accurate as he claims he is..
While Deyo claims he may now know where large earth rumbling will occur, the places that they are REALLY occurring across the planet are just plain weird. The latest now in Tennessee, where two small tremors happened..
More troubling news in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy: Dunes that protected NY Island from decimation are now gone as a result of the storm..
Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath in the United States as we go into winter.. and in Iran, there are big problems as well: 100,000 are without shelter as a result of an August earthquake as that nation heads into the winter season..
Tis the season to mess up big: The confetti that was showered on NYC this year contained information such as social security numbers, names of detectives, and even a mention of Mitt Romney’s Long Island motorcade.. Some of the material still is scattered in Nassau County..
There is intrigue online as the website Before It’s News posted a story that appears to show a massive number of caskets being prepped in Californina.. The website also points out that FEMA has instructed the government to be prepared for mass deaths..
Hunger in America is a problem. It was never corrected by President Johnson’s Great Society, or President Clinton’s welfare reform, or President Obama’s newest deal. Many are hungry for the holidays in 2012..
Clashes resume in Cairo..
Yasar Arafat’s body exhumed to see if he was posioned..
Yet another study purports to tell us how kids gets autism.. this time it’s early exposure to traffic pollution..
A new furor over Facebook’s plans to change privacy settings..
A study concludes that many of the world’s biggest rivers are running low on water, mainly due to water extraction.. Will anyone get some common sense on the water issue? We face a future of water shortages and war over the very thing we all need to survive. The Colorado River is one thing, but now four major global rivers having the same problems could equal a dismal future..
An update on the Louisiana sinkhole (one that mainstream media still pokes at but never truly covers): One website writes that the explosive potential from the massive sinkhole in Bayou Corne is understated..
North Korea activity suggests the launch of a missile will happen soon..
A video of the most shameful acts of shopping on Black Friday..
SHAMEFUL ACTS OF SHOPPING!
We are days into the shopping season, but here is a YouTube compilation of the most shameful of behavior displayed by supposed humans on Black Friday. Enjoy.

Interesting.. my hometown has a song about it now. Pretty nifty.
Let Rogue Valley, my favorite band, from Minneapolis, Minnesota be your guide to the modern ghost town of Centralia, PA
‘Pennsylvania 61
through the very heart for some
where industry has long been gone
looks like any old abandoned town
it looks like any other place
forgotten and left to waste
its residents have long been chased awaysteam rises from the fields
smoke-clouds skim the streets
a fire burns underneath the fallen citythis old mining community
is hotter than the planet mercury
a statuette without a face
disfigured and erasedfour hundred acres all unseen
been burning since 1960
the government gave it up
paid money for all the people to move out
they took their pictures and precious things
their families, their histories
level it all, let nature reclaim this townsmoke rises from the hills
like some kind of poison spell
the mines are smoldering still
after fifty yearsthey’ll burn for a hundred more
hollowing a harrowing core
the coal went when the soul went
the other way down
Pennsylvania 61level it all
don’t look back on Pennsylvania 61’
You can listen to Rogue Valley’s fantastic brand of Americana at their Bandcamp, like them on Facebook, and find out more about their expansive ‘Four Seasons’ albums through their website.

First he was pumping gas obviously drunk on milk. And now Mitt Romney has been photographed at Disneyworld with his kids.. It looks like he is happier on the water rides than he was pumping gas at a station.
At a certain point though Mitt will become old news. I can’t imagine the media continuing to have fun with him so many weeks now after he lost the election..

I would say this is the best meal of the year..Seriously great food, great family, great fun.. Great thanks.
Sure, we have this silly notion that Thanksgiving is about Pilgrims and Natives sitting at a table enjoying a meal. That may have happened but it wasn’t until Abraham Lincoln that this whole thing even became a national holiday, and that was after a big social campaign to have him do it during the Civil War. And yes, some even think there is a much darker and more sordid history of Thanksgiving than one portrayed in history books. We do know there is a pretty rough section of history large not told to young aspiring students in school. America’s government often (and still often does) treated Native Americans with contempt.. White landowners didn’t have their land until a trail of tears forced original settlers off of it. That is the dark history of this nation. One that cannot be ignored.
But we really cannot change much of that now. can we?
At this point we can only make sure the turkey is cooked and the filling isn’t raw. I don’t mind lumpy potatoes.
History is something open for debate often..
So all debate aside, all untold history of sketchy pilgrim and Native American dinners ignored, why is it really that Americans eat like gluttons and sit for hours watching large men in stretch pants knock into each other?? Well, it’s all because of Sarah Hale. She wrote the letter than saved Thanksgiving and convinced Honest Abe to name it a day. There must have been a big brain in that large forehead, Sarah.
Without it, today would just be Thursday and most Americans would be stuck in the weekly grind .. Instead now we will gain 10 pounds, pass out in our sloth, and wake up early to be rude to each other at stores at 3am. The American way.

It is the biggest party night of the year..
… and right now my wife and my son are both soundly asleep and I am watching a Back to the Future marathon on HBO.
I don’t regret for one moment that I’m not out enjoying the party night.

Creepy Christmas..
We already know that stores are set to track your ID and see if you are a ‘repeat returner’ of products.
But this one is a little weirder and Orwellian to me. Store mannequins are not set to watch you as you shop to spy on your shopping habits.
Christmas of the future!
Buy local. Avoid the all-knowing eyes of the lifeless mannequin.

From the age of 16 until about a year and a half ago, I worked either full time or part time in the restaurant industry. I took a sabbatical from the profession since I had a full time job and a second full time job as a dad since 2011. Nonetheless, tonight was always a night of greatness in my restaurant recollection.
Pies. Lots of pies.
The smell of turkey roasting in the oven in the restaurant kitchen.
Setting tables up for reservations.. Making certain enough seating was available..
The magical ‘setup’ hours were fun times, in my memory.
Not like Mother’s Day. I despised worked Mother’s Day for a number of reasons—not because I hate Mother’s Day itself but more because I can’t stand the notion that so many kids see their moms once a year and their choice on that productive day is to take Mother to a busy restaurant with bad service and cold food. How lame.
But Thanksgiving? I always loved waiting tables on Thanksgiving. There was something fun about it.. something ‘holidayish’..
I am jealous of those who get to smell the wafting aroma of pies in restaurant kitchens across the United States tonight.
Yes there will certainly be some mighty big issues to talk about in 2016. Such as creationism.
Seriously.. I want a debate about creationism from the GOP contenders.. with Rick Santorum moderating. How fun that could be.

Michio Kaku voices his solar flare fears
Physicist Michio Kaku was a guest on George Noory’s Coast to Coast AM last night.
Kaku quickly directed the conversation towards his fears over solar activity He told George Noory that he was disturbed by the size and strength of recent solar flares..
Kaku said that the fear is one of the flares could hit earth and ‘all hell could break loose’..
Kaku said it was a matter of time, mentioning that the last big flare happened 150 years when telegraph wires were shorted out. He mentioned that people in Cuba were reading newspaper at night because the Northern Lights went that far South.
In our modern world, Kaku said the satellites would be fried, power plants could go down, and he said it could be worse than 20 Hurricane Katrinas across the planet.. The scary possibility is more possible as the ‘maximum’ of solar activity is occurring The sunspot is like a rifle, Kaku said, and the flares are like bullets. “One of these days one of these solar flares is going to hit the earth,” he told George Noory..
Kaku spoke about Congress’ inaction in taking advice of physicists on concerning the grid. Kaku worried about nuclear reactors failing and more Fukushima type events happening simultaneously throughout the world.
A part of the chaos Kaku foresees: Food riots, and violence as people realize ‘no outside’ will be able to help the areas affected by a solar maximum flare.

Black Friday lament
I heard about a nifty deal today at Sears.. Buy four tires, get a rebate, and get a $100 in store gift card. Sounded great. The trouble if you have to be at Sears between 4am and 1pm Black Friday to take advantage of the deal..
Tires are needed. But do I really want to subject myself to the anarchy that is Black Friday? Is it realllllly worth that?
Some photos hit hard.. these both did. The innocence of childhood lost during the Israeli/Gaza conflict.. an innocent child's life also lost
Of all of the photos I saw from the Israeli/Gaza back and forth bombings, these both hit me.. A child, innocent, tries to salvage any bit of childhood he can while adults around him act more immature than him.
The fact that a child ‘does not understand’ war and the world means that the child is more humble and honest than any adult in power..
And in the other photo, an adult cries tears of humanity as he carries a dead child from the rubble after a missile strike.
There are many innocent people that die during warfare… they are the ‘collateral damages’ often uncounted by governments embroiled in hostility.
That is beyond disrespectful. They are people with lives, hopes, dreams.. and often innocence of childhood. Innocence lost in a second, dead bodies litter the streets..
War across the world. Isn’t this season supposed to be one of peace on earth??
Whatever happened to that..
