It is feeling like 2008 all over again

I am about to turn 32.. but I was about to turn 29 in 2008. So that’s good. But what is bad was ….well, an economic collapse. Today a bad jobs report was released, the market crashed, and more dire warning crept into headlines from around the world. Yes, indeed, it’s beginning to feel like and economic collapse is upon us again..

While the Miami cannibal munched... bikes drove by

This is the state of our nation, 2012: Surely by now you have heard of the Miami Muncher, the man who was turned into a cannibal and killed after taking bath salts and mauling another man’s face. .Here’s the latest and not so greatest:

New surveillance video shows that bikes were riding past the scene of the crime .. while the face attack was taking place..

Here we go again! Strange booms rock Michigan

The earth is moaning and groaning.. and booming loud, as well.. The latest in Michigan, where loud booms have caused ‘violent’ shaking.. no official word of what it may be, but lots of officials on what it is not. And what it is not: Anything likely to cause loud booms. The mystery begins.. Maybe booming soon in a town near you..

MICHIGAN: LOUD BOOMS AND ‘VIOLENT’ SHAKING
The booms in Michigan: not from earthquakes or jets..

Occultist: Violent shaking in Michigan.. no storms, no quakes.. no traffic..  hat tip to you for informing me first of this one..

My inspirational message of the day (you can sure tell I think more like a dad anymore)

This picture used to hang on the wall of my bedroom when I was a child.. I would stare at is as I fell asleep. Life is short. Honor your parents, love your family, cherish your spouse, adore you children.. and be proud when you look in the mirror. Time is fleeting..

Whoops: Obama causes some outrage with reference to "Polish death camp" -- it was actually a Nazi death camp in Poland

But it just must be a day of apologies, because here come some more:

And Lady Gaga

All for different reasons. But it’s a pity party of a Wednesday for all, isn’t it.

Whoops: Obama causes some outrage with reference to "Polish death camp" -- it was actually a Nazi death camp in Poland

Did a bit of thinking on Obama's kill list and the new story today on how 'civilian' has been redefined

There are big questions that come with these two stories, one from the NEW YORK TIMES and the other from an upcoming book KILL OR CAPTURE.

Drones. Warfare. Security. All big issues. But how we deal with those issues? That may be the bigger issue.

How we handle these big issues will tell a lot of us: It is how we, as a people, now fight our wars and define our enemies. It showcases what we are able to ‘live with’ in order to get the bad guy of the day. It also has implications on the homefront. If you haven’t noticed recently, news organizations en masse have finally been reporting on how drones are going to be used by police in the skies above you, and me, and all of us, here in the United States.

If the term of civilian could be broadened by a chief executive, could civilian also eventually be broadened by a police chief? By an FBI head.. by a CIA diretor…?

The drones will be watching. Cameras on and glaring down below.. if you have a fence that protects you from your neighbor because you like to sunbath nude, the drone will enjoy the view.

The future of the drones may be that they are armed. And if they are armed they can strike just as they do in Pakistan and Afghanistan. And if a few civilians die to get a target… will a future generation care?

Moral questions…

The type that no one is comfortable asking.

The ever evolving drone wars: How Obama changed the definition of 'civilian'

And as drones come to America, what impact may this have on the homefront..

This is your brown on bath salts.

The disturbing story of the cannibal attack, the Miami muncher, or whatever else you want to label it as, only gets weirder.

We know now that police say bath salts may be to blame—bath salts are banned here in the Keystone State of Pennsylvania, and not a day goes by in my area or on my local news without a story of someone going insane on bath salts.

But the notion of a nude man eating another nude man’s face right off this this story a little more a creepy vibe..

Even more information coming out: For example, the Miami muncher not only refused to stop eating the other man’s face, but when prompted to stop, he growled at cops.

Tales of abnormal behavior.. super human strength. People becoming filled with rage.. jumping on top of buildings .. all sad stories about a frightening drug. And seemingly more and more common.

A must read from the New York TIMES on Obama's kill list

President Richard Nixon was heavily criticized in media and pop culture in the 1970s when news broke that he had a secret enemy’s list. Who was on it? Journalists.. religious leaders.. maybe sometimes even his own staff and people within his own Administration.

Fast forward to the challenging post-9/11 world: President Obama scrapped the enemy’s list and replaced it with a secret “kill list.”

There is a fascinating glimpse from the TIMES on President Obama and how evolution: From the chatter of anti-Patriot Act and anti-war in the Senate, to a hawk in office, a killer of Osama Bin Laden, and the man who approves lethal action and doesn’t look back. The money quote:

In interviews with The New York Times, three dozen of his current and former advisers described Mr. Obama’s evolution since taking on the role, without precedent in presidential history, of personally overseeing the shadow war with Al Qaeda.

They describe a paradoxical leader who shunned the legislative deal-making required to close the detention facility at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba, but approves lethal action without hand-wringing. While he was adamant about narrowing the fight and improving relations with the Muslim world, he has followed the metastasizing enemy into new and dangerous lands. When he applies his lawyering skills to counterterrorism, it is usually to enable, not constrain, his ferocious campaign against Al Qaeda — even when it comes to killing an American cleric in Yemen, a decision that Mr. Obama told colleagues was “an easy one.”

And as Alex Jones’ PRISON PLANET reports, the NY TIMES also mentioned that a girl, about age 17, and other Americans are on the kill list.

Sensing another irony: Those who favored Obama’s 2008 campaign for the presidency because his language put him in stark opposition to eight years of Bush also have a test of their principles and will: Will they vote to reelect a man who campaigned against most things he ended up doing on the terror and homeland security front?

Sure, the political question is fun to ask.

But the more important question may be this: What role should the United States have, should there be a kill list, and should one chief executive single handedly get to decide who goes on that list and who gets rubbed out? Those are big questions. It would be fun to hear Candidate Obama debate President Obama on those points.

Are you glowing or is your tuna just happy to see me?

Finally confirmation of what alternative media has been reporting for a year.. sadly the alternative media was right all along.

And you thought wind and fire were the strongest elements of Earth!

Think again.

It may simply be FISH!

According to new research (research conducted of course in August of last year, but officially we are just hearing about it this year) “low levels” of radiation from Fukushima have turned up in bluefin tuna along the California coast. Remember, these levels were higher than normal and they were in schools of swimming tuna just months after the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear nightmare—fish swimming fast and bringing radiation to San Diego faster than water .. faster than the debris from the tsunami.

But food for thought: Radioactive tuna (low levels!!) were swimming near California four months after the Fukushima nuclear plant went haywire.

We have been told for some time there are no worries.

No one told that to the tuna.

GOOGLE PURPOSELY STOLE PRIVATE INFORMATION FOR YEARS AND COVERED IT UP

This news comes from across the pond—but if it is happening in the UK why would it not be happening in the US of A?

According to the reports circulating, Google purposely used Street View cars to steal personal information from people in Britain for years, and then they covered it up for years.

The accusations are that Google deliberately harvested private data on British citizens for years. According to the report, they downloaded photographs and emails, documents, and messages. The Street View cars collected as they drove.

A private company spying. Interesting. Because if you paint the picture just a little differently, it could mean even war! Think if foreign spies for another nation were driving around America stealing your data? Imagine if, say, North Korea had cars to do it. Or maybe a Chinese car.. with the Chinese flag. Driving around and spying on you!

It would mean war. The government would condemn. The media would go headline-crazy.

But in this situation, when a private company did it, everyone is silent.

The noise of crickets in the vast wilderness of the online world.. well, that noise today is deafening. The international media is the only place to turn to find out just what exactly Google has been doing.

Just Google it.

The real meaning of Memorial Day: Those who do not return alive.

Do not lose the meaning of this day..

A tale of many Syria headlines

You know what it all comes down to? This world is insane.. messed up.. unbelievable in the amount of atrocities that have killed. And for what? Nothing. In the end, absolutely nothing.

A member of the U.S. Army Old Guard places a flag at one of the over 220,000 graves of fallen U.S. military service members buried at Arlington National Cemetery, May 24, 2012.

Flashback: Dead American soldiers dumped into landfills like trash

We should be more aware of these types of events.. We should be fully aware of attempts to not give veterans the care they deserve.

For those who don’t make it home, the most they deserve from everywhere still here is respect, dignity, and at the very least, a salute. Not to be dumped into a landfill with trash …

Madeline Grace Wallace, 4, carries flags at the National Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark., Friday, May 25, 2012. The girl and her mother visited the cemetery to place flags on graves for Memorial Day.

A child doesn’t know the horror of war. At least most children.

We should want to keep it that way.

In the middle if your beer, or barbecue, or party, remember that Memorial Day is perhaps the most solemn of national holidays. It is one to contemplate the decorations of the post-Civil War days and recall the casualties of the hundreds of thousands of American soldiers that died during battle. We should also give pause to one thought: If you do end up going to a 21 gun salute somewhere in America, how do we strive to be slow to go to war and quick to try peace? How can we in such a turbulent world? Syria kills children with pacifiers in their mouths.. Drones strike in Pakistan.. Oh, and drones will patrol America, too.

But I digress.

Memorial Day 2012. Do not let this holiday lose the meaning it is intended to have. Do now cheapen it with a useless day of nothingness. Do not..

But here is the sneaking fear that scares me.. in 1945, the big picture was clear: We stopped a tyrant who was killing millions. Ever since then things got murky. And in Iraq and Afghanistan…? Well do we even know who we’re fighting now? Do we have a clue who the tyrants are? And how can you fight the tyrants when they litter this planet like plastic in an ocean?

All thoughts I for one am having this Memorial Day..

The world watches in shock at the horror developing in Houla, a suburb of Homs..

CNN reported this disturbing quote:

"By God, I washed the dead bodies of nine children. One was less than nine months old!" a man screamed to a U.N. observer. "Why are they treating us like animals? We are humans. Did the infant carry an RPG? Was he a fighter? It was a baby, he had a pacifier in his mouth."

Truly disturbing details being revealed about the Miami muncher

A fatal police shooting involving a naked man and cannibalism. Stuff of movies? No. Stuff of Memorial Day weekends in Miami? Yes, this year at least..

Details are starting to be revealed about the disturbing event today in Miami in which a naked man was chewing the face off of another  naked man on a busy highway .. A bicycle rider, Larry Vega, flagged down cops.. the rest is documented by NEWS 7 in Miami:

When the attack continued, Vega says the officer fired but the man continued to chew flesh off the victim. The officer fired several more times, eventually killing the attacker.

A Miami Herald surveillance camera caught the aftermath as the two men laid side by side on the ground. “It was just a blob of blood,” said Vega. “You couldn’t really see, it was just blood all over the place.”

Rescue crews rushed the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital with missing flesh. According to a 7News source, the victim was not recognizable.

Vega says both the men, who have not been identified, appeared to be homeless and he believes the attacker may have been on drugs. “He looked like he was on something,” he said. “Either he was really psychotic or he was on crack.”

Not something you’d expect to see everyday.. or any day.

Horrible beyond belief..

Is it me or is the world going absolutely insane?

The weather outside indeed will be frightful..

So are YOU ready for months worth of scary tornadoes, hurricanes, winds, and rain? … I don’t think I am.

weather’s been weird lately out here, looked a lot like this for the last two days.

A few Twitter followers have also updated me on their fears of this season.

Is it just something we are feeling? Because I am feeling it. I am not weather vane or predictor  or prognosticator, and the wonderful folks at the National Hurricane Center, Accuweather, and the Weather Channel would mop the floor with me on my weather knowledge.. But something deep down just makes me think this year will be one we will want to remember but will not be able to. Hope I’m wrong. Maybe I am. But if I’m not, as always, better safe than sorry. Prepare for the worst, expect the best. The reality is somewhere in the middle.

Centralia 'still burns'

Here we go again. Another story from major media on the quaint little town of Centralia, population almost no one. Population once was Over a thousand.. a mine fire changed that, and destroyed a road or two in the process.

The fire started 50 years ago this weekend, a Memorial Day somewhere in time.

And this year, another news article portrays the town as “macabre.”  It is not macabre. It is a tragic story, of course. However, the typical yearly media portrayal that occurs, or the occasional blip on the radar that it gets in AP news alerts due to constant court cases, always gets me irritated. No one ever really wanted the attention that they got, even today. No one really appreciates that their little home town is now home to explorers and travelers from around the world—people who seem shocked that zombies aren’t walking around the street and fires aren’t smoldering. Instead, now and then, smoke rises.

Nonetheless, it’s a story. News media come and go. And they did in the 1980s, when NIGHTLINE broadcasted live (complete with a smoke machine for the effect.) And they come and go yet again. 50 years of this.. interesting.

There has been a ton of criticism for the hosting style of John B. Wells on Coast to Coast AM. But I like him. Tonight he is taking the show into a strange direction: Palmistry. Yes it’s a real thing. And Vernon Mahabal will explain all about it. Worth the listen should you be awake at 1am on the East Coast.

Wow: Stock watcher argues that Facebook could bring entire global economy

Nuclear annihilation is just on my mind tonight..

Early this evening I wrote about the new CHERNOBYL DIARIES causing controversy. Moments ago I wrote about the Fukushima nightmare…

And I just ran across this little snippet of a quote from Michio Kaku on Chernobyl—his words in my opinion are much scarier than any horror flick

You know the Chernobyl core is still melting into the earth? It’s still melting into the earth.

It’s a never ending nightmare.

Eventually they’re going to have to put concrete under the melted core to prevent it from hitting groundwater and creating perhaps a steam explosion

That is pretty frightening to contemplate… don’t you think?

The Fukushima files..

I take news from Fukushima with a grain of salt. Maybe instead I should take news about the nuclear disaster constantly in progress with a capsule of iodine instead, but I’m not quite there yet.

But where I am is constantly freaked by the news coming from there—news that the mainstream media really, arguably, is not reporting. Japan still grapples with the devastation of a post-quake land.. post tsunami.. Always on edge due to continuous jolts from fault lines. The ring of fire is on fire, and has been since March 2011.

The latest from Fukushima, however, gave me a chill to my core. I ponder over the words from Mitsuhei Murata, former Japanese ambassador to Switzerland..  he said another accident in Reactor No. 4 could cause a “final catastrophe of the world”..

Also today, another story floated around the world like earthquake debris: A former Fukushima worker believes that the ‘entire country’ of Japan could be evacuated if No. 4 fuel pool collapses.

Hear that? The entire country.
Oh I’m sorry, you’re busy watching the CHERNOBYL DIARIES trailer.. Get back to that, then…

Words of Murata and this Daiichi worker got immediate attention after translation. Whether anything was lost in translation? I don’t know.. whether it was hyperbole? I don’t know.. Was Murata trying to just get attention of the world on Fukushima? Attention that slipped away steadily since radiation starting pouring out of the reactor and spread across the world.

Oh, and yes, if you’re on a beautiful beach somewhere along the left coast, get ready: The shores will soon be plagued by debris from Japan. It’s already hitting Hawaii and Alaska.

It is a small world after all.

So raise a glass to luck. And hopefully Murata is wrong and our luck will not run out…

This whole Facebook IPO fiasco is just getting more and more strange.. now regulators are set to review Morgan Stanley allegations

Allegations state that Morgan Stanley shared negative news with big investors right before Facebook went public… this news today after only days since Facebook was unveiled on the market—and the stock declined ferociously ever since.

Another story about the Facebook financial drama from CNBC, which reports that the stock selloff Monday nearly turned into a run..

But think of it this way: Facebook is virtual. It’s selling virtual reality. And in reality it’s selling you. So really, what market investor really wants to invest in you anyway?

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook

This whole Facebook IPO fiasco is just getting more and more strange.. now regulators are set to review Morgan Stanley allegations

Is it too soon for a Chernobyl movie?

When CHERNOBYL DIARIES is released, Friends of Chernobyl Centers U.S. will not be in attendance.. The group has blasted the film over the portrayal..

In the movie, six tourists enter the nuclear town to discover horrific zombies and nuclear-drenched people.. Scares ensue. Problem is, Chernobyl is a real life tragedy. A meltdown in 1986 was one of the biggest nuclear disasters in history .. in real life, thousands of people have died and 400,000 had to leave when the incident took place..

The furor over the film began with a report on TMZ with comments from the group that is angry over the movie .. but today, a new report on TMZ gets the producer’s side of the story: Oren Peli said the film was done with respect for the ‘86 disaster and its victims..

Peli told TMZ: “As for the claim that our film exploits anyone — we could not disagree more vigorously. First of all, the criticism and accusations are coming from a group that has not seen the film, whereas conversely the praise for it is coming from those who have indeed seen it” .. More here..

Perhaps Peli will strike gold and FUKUSHIMA DIARIES will be next?

I’d like to think that Truman Burbank ended up liking life outside his show. But after much consideration since 1998, I think maybe he ended up trying to find a way back into the comfortable safety net of predictability and fraud that he was used to.
