WINTER IS NOT OVER..

Evidence supplied from the latest computer model runs of a storm coming next week showcases that..
BUT…
The confidence level of a cold storm is low.. there is so much uncertainty about this. It could be rain. Ice. Mix. Snow. All of the above.. And all for a long duration–if this is all snow get ready for more than 1 foot. If it’s a mix, get ready for one of the sloppiest segways into March winter can provide..

Accuweather is forecasting that enough cold weather should pour in to make snowmen possible.

All this possible. And developing. A days away.

McDonald's survey of franchisees finds pessimistic view of chain:

McDonald’s Corp. franchisees remained pessimistic about the company’s turnaround efforts during the much-hyped rollout of all-day breakfast, according to an internal survey. ..

Breakfast all day isn’t helping.

And speaking of breakfast all day, they don’t do egg-white sandwiches, so I hear. Maybe that has hurt too.

OR .. the turn to more healthy food in America would have gone wild on their profits and futures..?

CUTE SELFIE MOMENT GONE WRONG: KILLS BABY DOLPHIN

Real news from Buenos Aires.. James Joiner from the DAILY BEAST reporting:

Two Franciscana dolphins were ripped from the waves near an Argentinan resort last week, then manhandled to shore, where they were passed around a clutching mob seeking cute selfie moments. In the process, at least one of the intelligent, playful cetaceans died from the experience. Franciscana, or La Plata, dolphins are unable to spend as long out of the water as their larger brethren.

“At least one of these dolphins suffered a horrific, traumatic and utterly unnecessary death, for the sake of a few photographs,” a spokesperson from the World Animal Protection group told ABC in Australia, condemning the despicable incident. “This terribly unfortunate event is an example of the casual cruelty people can inflict when they use animals for entertainment purposes.”

And then get this:

After being pet and pawed at by dozens of people, one of the small creatures was found discarded on the beach, its usefulness as a social-media prop at an end. It was left coated in sand and soon died slowly of dehydration..

There were a few people still snapping some last minute photos as the creature lay gasping for its last bits if air before death.

There are a number of societal issues within this article.. commentary on our culture can be made as well.

Feel free to make those..
And the next time you see a life form of any kind gasping for air and grasping for life, perhaps you should intervene before the selfie shot is taken..

Maybe?

Ranch owner clarifies how he found Scalia's body

Ranch owner clarifies how he found Scalia's body:

The weirdness doesn’t end..

The ranch owner, John Poindexter, tried to clarify his comments, telling “CBS This Morning” that Scalia “had a pillow over his head, not over his face as some have been saying. The pillow was against the headboard.”
Judge Cinderela Guevara said investigators found no signs of foul play or struggle. She added Scalia’s personal physician believed “the death was due to natural causes.”
William Ritchie, the former homicide commander of D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department, said an autopsy would put all these questions to rest.
“If you’re called to the scene to investigate a death, you will assume that death is a homicide until your investigation proves otherwise,” Ritchie said. “If the death scene was handled in an appropriate manner, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.”

Pope John Paul letters reveal 'intense' friendship with woman - BBC News

Pope John Paul letters reveal 'intense' friendship with woman - BBC News:
Photographs which have never been seen before by the public reveal Karol Wojtyla at his most relaxed. He invited Ms Tymieniecka to join him on country walks and skiing holidays - she even joined him on a group camping trip. The pictures also show her visiting him at the Vatican.
“Here is one of the handful of transcendentally great figures in public life in the 20th Century, the head of the Catholic Church, in an intense relationship with an attractive woman,” says Eamon Duffy, Professor of the History of Christianity at Cambridge University.

There are no present allegations or evidence revealed showcasing the relationship became romantic.. But it sure has some wondering if the Polish pontiff desired.
A game changing set of correspondence? Or swept under a Vatican rug?
The world knows now a bit more than it ever did about Pope John Paul II.

Apple ordered to break into San Bernardino shooter's iPhone:

A fascinating battle developing in the tech world and that of justice ..

Apple CEO Tim Cook said late Tuesday that the company would oppose the ruling.
In a message to customers published on Apple’s website, he said: “We can find no precedent for an American company being forced to expose its customers to a greater risk of attack. For years, cryptologists and national security experts have been warning against weakening encryption. Doing so would hurt only the well-meaning and law-abiding citizens who rely on companies like Apple to protect their data.”

Washington POST reports: Conspiracy theories swirl around the death of Antonin Scalia

Washington POST reports: Conspiracy theories swirl around the death of Antonin Scalia:

Two days after Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died suddenly in remote West Texas, a former D.C. homicide commander is raising questions about how the death was handled by local and federal authorities.

“As a former homicide commander, I am stunned that no autopsy was ordered for Justice Scalia,” William O. Ritchie, former head of criminal investigations for D.C. police, wrote in a post on Facebook on Sunday.

This reporting from the Washington POST–which incidentally is the newspaper of record that sort of started the ball of conspiracy theories rolling.

Scalia strangeness part 2?

Yesterday I posted a few snippets of the Washington POST article of how a conclusion was made that Justice Scalia had a heart attack without an autopsy.. Today another article is upping the ante on strange activity.. Again, I am not placing conspiracy into your head.. I am simply mind-boggled as to why a high justice dies after reports of a relatively healthy day previous and yet no one is concerned that ‘heart attack’ is placed on the death certificate without ANY medical evaluations to say so..

Nonetheless, tie Cilbola Creek ranch owner and Houston businessman John Poindexter. In his own words:

He was lying very restfully. It looked like he had not quite awakened from a nap

US NEWS: Obama Keeps Public in Dark About 'Black Budget' Requests

US NEWS: Obama Keeps Public in Dark About 'Black Budget' Requests

More than 200,000 army, navy and air force troops fanned out...

More than 200,000 army, navy and air force troops fanned out Saturday across Brazil to teach people how to eliminate the Aedes aegypti mosquito that spreads the Zika virus, which many health officials believe is linked to severe birth defects.

I think this entire situation is being overplayed in some ways by worldwide media.. and the WHO. But “who” am I?

It is also of extreme importance for one other reason: The Olympics. As a matter of fact, just yesterday, Brazil’s president said that the summer games will go on as planned. Perhaps this issue explains the sudden emergence of 200,000 troops nationwide.

A few days ago news headlines were made in the soccer world: Major US players openly were concerned over ZIKA.

An obvious developing scenario..

Scalia death: A series of a few strange events

Not to sound the conspiracy alarm–Alex Jones already did that last night..

But just read some of these points from the WASHINGTON POST dispatch on the Supreme Court Justice’s death today:

The man known for his elegant legal opinions and profound intellect was found dead in his room at a hunting resort, either by a housekeeper or the ranch owner, according to conflicting accounts.

It then took hours for authorities in remote West Texas to find a justice of the peace, officials said Sunday. When they did, she pronounced Scalia dead of natural causes without seeing the body and decided not to order an autopsy. A second justice of the peace, who was called but couldn’t get to Scalia’s body in time, said she would have ordered an autopsy.

More:

“If it had been me . . . I would want to know,” Juanita Bishop, a justice of the peace in Presidio, Tex., told The Washington Post in an interview Sunday about the chaotic hours after Scalia’s death at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a luxury compound less than an hour from the Mexican border and about 40 miles south of Marfa.

The U.S. Marshals Service has not issued a statement about the events surrounding Scalia’s death Saturday. And as official Washington tried to process what the justice’s death means for politics and the law, some details of his final hours remained opaque.

No autopsy? Quick embalming?

As late as Sunday afternoon, there were conflicting reports about whether an autopsy would be performed, though officials later said Scalia’s body was being embalmed and there would be no autopsy. One report, by WFAA-TV in Dallas, said the death certificate would show the cause of the death was a heart attack.

More information on his death:

Scalia did not appear for breakfast with others from the party, officials said; people at first thought he might be sleeping in, but they eventually grew concerned. A housekeeper found the body, according to Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara; other witnesses said the housekeeper opened Scalia’s door at the request of the ranch owner.

After emergency personnel and officials from the U.S. Marshals Service were called to the scene, two local judges who also serve as justices of the peace were called, Guevara said in an interview Sunday. Both were out of town, she said — not unusual in a remote region where municipalities are spread far apart.

Guevara also was out of town, but she said she declared Scalia dead based on information provided by officials at the scene, citing Texas laws that allow a justice of the peace to declare someone dead without seeing the body.

And finally this conclusion after all of the intrigue in high places.

“An autopsy was declined at about 3:30 a.m.,” Lujan said. “The justice of the peace said there was no indication of foul play and that he died in his sleep from natural causes.”

The authors said the findings show that disease from air and household pollution ranks as the number two cause of death worldwide. It comes in right behind smoking, which the World Health Organization says kills 6 million people annually. The research, part of an initiative to monitor the global burden of disease, is being presented at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington.

All Thumbs: Megan Fox should rethink age jokes

All Thumbs: Megan Fox should rethink age jokes:

It was on Ellen. It was weird..And it went like this:

Fox was discussing how 30 – a milestone birthday – always seemed to be so “old” when she was younger.

Ellen, jumping in the conversation, agreed. The talk show host volunteered that when she was younger, “I would think somebody 50, 60 years old was, you know, just like…”

And then came Fox’s zinger. “In a hospice?” the young actress rushed to finish Ellen’s sentence for her, perhaps not realizing that DeGeneres is 58.

Awkward.

“I’m just saying!” Fox added, trying to recover. “When you’re young, that’s what you think.”

DeGeneres, pro that she is, defused things with,“I wouldn’t go that far, but certainly close to going to a hospice, yes.”

Thankfully ELLEN herself was on stage. The consummate professional allowed the program to flow. Even though this would have been a blockage of epic proportions in a plumbing world.

Migrant children vanished in Germany have 'had their organs harvested'

Migrant children vanished in Germany have 'had their organs harvested':

The worst horror show on earth..

Many of the 5,000 missing refugee and migrant children in German will have been forced into prostitution or harvested for their organs, according to the leader of the country’s Muslim council.

Aiman Mazyek, the chairman of the Central Council of German Muslims, said that immediate changes need to be made to the asylum system to protect children and young people.

He demanded to know why Europeans were not speaking out in defence of the missing children.

AND THIS:

Europol, the European police agency, had previously said that at least 10,000 unaccompanied refugee children had gone missing in Europe in the past 24 months.

Suffer the children. As always.. the most victimized by adults. All of the time.

Ayden’s first haunting experience!

A little ghost story–one that hits a bit closer to home than anything else I have written.

Tonight, my wife and I took my son Ayden to a birthday party for a classmate at the Ashland Pennsylvania ELKS–sorry for the bad press (or good depending on your point of view) I am giving them on this matter..

The party was fine. It took place in the basement level bowling alley. Kids had a blast.. the cake was fine. And the pizza was as it should be.

There was one moment, though.. One strange event.

You see, the bathroom in the basement is unisex. So both genders shared their turns using it.. At one point, my son wanted to wash his hands. We made him wait because all three of us heard people in there. We figured it would be proper and kind to allow them to finish their business before barging in.

The seconds turned into minutes.. no one was coming out. So I decided to go in..
No one..
no one was there.
Not a soul.

The bathroom was empty and quiet. The voices we heard and shadows we saw–all there of us–were gone. Instead remaining were just two urinals and a toilet.

My son had the most amazing reaction of all. He immediately said “we just saw a ghost!” Almost excitedly as a matter of fact.

My wife and I were left pondering a few things. We attempted scientific logic. We tried making excuses for the voices we heard. We wanted to explain the shadows. And funny, both my wife and I independently agreed: We heard and saw three people. We just both agreed on that. Three people.

This is not the first time something unexplained happened to us. I saw things before. I think we all have. We just need to take a step back and consider the times we do. But the funny thing is the acceptance my son had to the entire episode. He sort of, well, just figured he took part in some paranormal event. And does not even know why..

And perhaps that memory will stick. The shadows at the Elks. Almost the same as it was for my at the age of 5 seeing people in the choir of the former St. Ignatius in Centralia, along with hearing whispers come from the confessional ni the church at night.

But Ayden was fine with it all….He went on with life and ate cake, enjoyed bowling, and had a blast.

I did a few Google searches tonight. Nothing found. I did locate a few strange sites about ghosts of Ashland, PA.. but nothing specific about this location.

We do know what we saw. We agree on what we saw. And heard. Shadows along the wall.. voices echoing in the room. No one there and not a trace of humans within.

It was an interesting moment.

And quite possibly my son’s first paranormal event..

Drudge headline tonight..

CBS NEWS REPORTING:

“Let me just tell you this: Jeb is so wrong. Jeb is absolutely so — ah,” Trump began.

A chorus of booed in the audience interrupted Trump, who then suggested that the crowd was stacked with pro-Bush elites in the GOP establishment.

“Just so you understand: You know who that is? That’s Jeb’s special interests and lobbyists talking,” Trump continued.

Trump took another shot at the audience shortly after. The crowd loudly booed Trump when he mocked Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), for having “0%” in the polls before dropping out of the presidential race and endorsing Bush.

“I only tell the truth, lobbyists,” Trump told the people booing him. “We’ve spent $5 trillion all over the Middle East. We have to rebuild our country.”

I am watching the GOP debate.. and all of the sudden I see a news alert of a major quake in New Zealand!! WITH a cliff collapsing near Christchurch.. could it have been Bush vs Trump?!

Nonetheless..

This;

Several people have been injured and a cliff has collapsed into the sea on New Zealand’s South Island after a “severe” magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck close to Christchurch, which is still rebuilding following a devastating tremor in 2011.

The earthquake hit shortly after 1pm (11am AEDT) on Sunday, according to GeoNet, which monitors seismic activity in New Zealand.

It was centred 15km east of Christchurch and was 31km deep.

Paramedics were responding to a number of calls from people who fell over during the tremor. One building in the city was evacuated after items tumbled down and computer monitors smashed.

The shaking also dislodged part of a cliff in Taylor’s Mistake, to the south-east of the city centre. The dramatic moment was captured by Thomas Wieberneit, who posted it on Twitter.

Live Republican debate updates: Trump gets booed again in familiar clash with Bush

Live Republican debate updates: Trump gets booed again in familiar clash with Bush:

Seema Mehta reporting:

Donald Trump and Jeb Bush got into a blistering exchange over the legacy of President George W. Bush during Saturday night’s GOP debate, the latest in their running battle throughout the presidential campaign.

Trump called the Iraq war “a big fat mistake,” and mocked Jeb Bush for being unable, earlier in the campaign, to answer a question about whether he would have gone to war knowing what we know now – that Saddam Hussein did not possess weapons of mass destruction.

“It took him five days before his people told him what to say,” Trump said, before turning to Bush.

“George Bush made a mistake. We can make mistakes, but that one was a beauty,” he said, prompting boos from the audience. “They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction…. And they knew there weren’t.”

Bush responded by saying that he “could care less” about Trump’s insults, but “I am sick and tired of him going after my family. My dad is the greatest man alive, in my mind,” he said, as the audience applauded. “When Donald Trump was building a reality TV show, my brother was building a security apparatus to keep us safe. And I’m proud of what he did.”

Trump interjected that the World Trade Center fell during President Bush’s watch, prompting more boos from the audience. “That’s not keeping us safe,” he said.

Republican debate: Trump attacks George W. Bush on 9/11, Iraq war:

THIS was the moment that may have changed all games tonight..

Either South Carolina will head to the polls and revolt against Donald Trump.. or the undercurrent of the GOP will realize that Trump was dead on accurate about his take on history.

This was an amazing moment. I cannot underscore it any more .. As a viewer of politics my entire life, I have quite honestly never seen a moment like this on prime time television during a major debate before a South Carolina primary.

Amazing.. Amazing. Amazing.

The Rumble in South Carolina

Trump told Bush that his ‘mom should have ran.’ .. . Trump also said Bush Jr led to the World Trade Center collapsing.. he said he lied about weapons of mass destruction.. he said the Iraq war was a mistake.. Tonight Donald Trump sounds like the Democratic nominee for President.

This is fascinating..
And we will see how it plays in conservative South Carolina.

Don’t forget 2000.. McCain cleans the Bush clock in New Hampshire. Comes back to live in South Carolina..
Could it be a repeat of history?
OR .. does Trump defy the odds in the land of military might of South Carolina?

News from the coal region home front: 'Thunder Over Ashland' fireworks canceled after 20 years .. Another example of an area falling apart:

Another entry into the ‘death of the coal region’ tag..

This is a pretty big deal, in my opinion.. it’s these events, parades and fireworks, that so often unite small towns with the Americana feel.

The coal region of Pennsylvania, dwindling in population but surging in drug problems and alcoholism, is leading to a rebirth of something much, much worse.

The fireworks are canceled.
The show is over.

Too close to home.. This taking place in the heart of the formerly great coal region of Pennsylvania. And it’s disgusting to its core..

A grandmother, watching her granddaughter, kills her.. the story has been picked up globally by the ASSOCIATED PRESS due to the shocking nature of the crime. This is the AP dispatch:

A northeastern Pennsylvania grandmother is charged in the suffocation death of her 14-month-old granddaughter.

Pietrina Hoffman, of Mahanoy City, was arraigned Friday in Schuylkill County.

Police accuse 52-year-old Hoffman of smothering Navaeh Doyle on Jan. 10 while she was babysitting the toddler.

An autopsy determined the girl died from asphyxia by smothering. She was sent to county prison without bail pending a preliminary hearing Feb. 25.

Awful.. Just awful.

I get tremendous rage when innocence is broken. I get angry to my very core when some adult, an adult who is supposed to be responsible and loving, does nothing of the kind and instead murders and destroys the beauty of life.

The CHAPO interview and the PENN controversy

The world is intrigued by Sean Penn meeting with El Chapo.. The Rolling Stone published the interview just as the drug kingpin was re-arrested. .  The interview is bizarre. Controversial. People are angry at Penn. The issue even became a campaign talking point for Republicans on the trail, Marco Rubio today saying it was out of line but not illegal. There are, however, some interesting interview comments that the interview has given the world to digest and contemplate.. Among them:

  • I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world. I have a fleet of submarines, airplanes, trucks and boats

  • Well, it’s a reality that drugs destroy. Unfortunately, as I said, where I grew up there was no other way and there still isn’t a way to survive

  • I don’t usually drink

  • On Trump: “

    Ah! Mi amigo!”

  • The only way to have money to buy food, to survive, is to grow poppy, marijuana, and at that age, I began to grow it, to cultivate it and to sell it
  • On drug addiction: “

No, that is false, because the day I don’t exist, it’s not going to decrease in any way at all. Drug trafficking? That’s false.“
  • On drug consumption: “

If there was no consumption, there would be no sales. It is true that consumption, day after day, becomes bigger and bigger. So it sells and sells”

The Steelers/Bengals game turned into a chaotic farce of football Saturday night..

Paul Doughterty, a sports writer from Ohio, expresses the feelings of a nation who watched the dangerous game:

Too many stupid things happened. Passion has its place in football. Reckless stupidity does not.

I won’t go into detail about the game, its frantic finish yet another eye-stab. You saw it. You don’t need to read about it.

It’s mindless to blame a few plays or a few players for a loss that had more twists than a medieval thumb screw. It might have been easier had the Bengals lost 15-0. Chalk it up to another playoff fade. Only, they didn’t fade. They took the lead, 16-15, and with a first down at the Steelers’ 26 with 1:36 left, had the game won.

Only this is January and these are the Bengals so Jeremy Hill, bless him, fumbled. Then Ben Roethlisberger, whose right shoulder was ground meat, took Pittsburgh 74 yards in nine plays. Chris Boswell kicked a 35-yard field goal with 14 seconds left to send Cincinnati to its most crushing loss in … forever.

It was a nasty, nasty playoff game.

The billion coming ??

No one won the grand Powerball prize. The new grand rise over a billion bucks.. Holy moly all that’s holy

York County 911: Loud explosion heard, and various reports of booms in the Pennsylvania city

This event is taking place Friday and tonight.. Loud reports of booms in York Pennsylvania.. Officials and authorities are checking the integrity of infrastructure..

The YORK COUNTY paper reports: “Also on Saturday, local authorities contacted dam operators at the Indian Rock Dam around 5:30 p.m. to check the dam’s integrity, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers spokesman Chris Augsburger said. The dam is operated by the Army Corps of Engineers.
Dam operators, who walked with local authorities around the dam, did not find any damage, Augsburger said.”

The most recent explanation being given at the hour: Frost quakes…
Sensible perhaps.
But when considering the endless boom and explosions taking place across the planet since about seven Januarys now, this is just another example is something strange below our feet.

This one is close to home for me.

Hillary’s EmailGate Goes Nuclear | | Observer

John Schindler writes this in the Observer tonight:

“ Back in October I told you that Hillary Clinton’s email troubles were anything but over, and that the scandal over her misuse of communications while she was Secretary of State was sure to get worse. Sure enough, EmailGate continues to be a thorn in the side of Hillary’s presidential campaign and may have just entered a new, potentially explosive phase with grave ramifications, both political and legal.”

I don’t think 2016 will be a good year for horror movies

SLATE has a review of the new January horror movie THE FOREST. I didn’t get the warm and fuzzies from the David Ehrlich piece, he really hated the movie. I am not going to see it most likely, but I bet people will.

There is something always successful when you consider January horror. It’s the come off of Christmas feeling people get. I noticed that a long, long time ago now (too long and too quick) with a quick January PG-13 hit called DARKNESS FALLS.

The one interesting thing about this movie this year, THE FOREST, is that it is loosely based off of real events.. The forest in Japan where people go to commit suicide is all too real and very unexplained..

Speaking of horror, there are lots of lists being compiled on the movies in 2016 you should see.. ’31’ is included with this IGN list of 12 movies. In my opinion, that makes it 11 movies you should see. I just cannot and will not get into this 31 film, regardless of anything.. And quite frankly, all of the rest of the movies look like awful.

THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR WANTS YOUR SOUL. For $800 mil, it could get it

Tonight, the POWEBALL is powerful.. set over $800 mil (if no one wins this could get to a billion) .. I am going to buy my ticket and I suspect you will buy yours. This could be a blowout for the victor..

Or a curse.

There are always dreams of the but jackpot.. the fantasy of the fancy cars and fine wine that come along with any victory in the lottery game.

But there are equally concerns. I think we all have seen those specials on TV  or the concerning documentary about people who won the lottery, people like you and me who were normal (we are, right).

People who just tried making it in life and suddenly had millions in cold hard cash leaped on their heads.

They fell apart… did they live some luxury lives? Some. For a while. And then their families and friendships dissolved.. Often suicide and murder took place.. The money was a hoax of happiness, a curse and blemish on their once normal lives. But normal lives have struggles.

Bills are due and often they bite, coming out of no where when you least expect them. Yes. Dreams of the lottery are amazing.. dreams.. The odds tonight are that 1 in 292 million people will win the big record $800 million Powerball.

The rest of us will still be dreaming. Maybe it’s safer to dream than scurry away from the blinding lights of pop culture and media attention.

The new mayor of Philly already making headlines

Yesterday we all were told a cop was shot in Philly by a man proclaiming allegiance to ISIS..

Now the new Mayor of the city, Jim  Kenney, said ISIS had nothing to do with the shooting. Anger ensues among some about that.. The police officer is alive, incidentally..

But you know the worst part? Life goes by so fast I forgot Nutter was out and there was even a new mayor of Philly.. and I live 90 miles north. That is a failure on my part. I hope it will not happen again.

Mid Winter storms.. bizarre mid-winter storms

This is mid winter (or it is supposed to be), but climate did not get the memo. The NWS is watching not 1 but 2 lows that have hurricane force winds in the NORTH ATLANTIC..

And a storm developing off the British Isles..

How many freak storms will we get until we realize something is ‘up’ .. ?

But remember. Earth changes are NOT happening. Tell yourself that one a few times and try not to laugh.

By now you’ve seen THIS.

You may not have wanted to.. but you did.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney, apparently post sexual relations, on a magazine cover.

You cannot unsee..

There are lots of comparisons to LENNON AND ONO.. Sorry. This pales in comparison.. No comparison at all frankly..

Millions of Civilians to Be Sent Back to Boko Haram's Bloody Heartland

The government says it has all but defeated Boko Haram, the ISIS-allied group that was involved in the slaughter of 11,000 people last year and ranks among the world’s deadliest terror organizations.

President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged that he will “start in earnest” to return an estimated 2.2 million citizens who have been forced to flee their homes.

However, while most of the territory once held by Boko Haram has been recaptured, experts say the insurgents’ renewed guerrilla campaign is deadlier than ever.

I guess these returning innocent lives will find out soon firsthand..

'Meth Curry' and the thoughtless, casual cruelty of Internet memes

This Mashable story about a cancer survivor who turned into the butt of a joke should be required reading for every moronic jerk who has the Internet and social media to mock fellow humans with ugly memes.. The butt of this joke doesn’t do meth. Instead he’s a cancer survivor who struggled with his own appearance. And now his struggle is receiving global attention after his image ended up online and being involved with a meme joke calling him a meth addict..

'Making a Murderer' victim speaks about sending innocent man to jail

Interesting story.. And it is the one part of his whole Avery story that the documentary neglected to explore in depth..

On this note, I have just begun watching the series.. Only on episode 2, though I am very aware of then murder story and the further allegations that have taken place since the 2002 exoneration of Avery..

It’s an amazing documentary, very well produced, and obviously controversial since it’s an ongoing issue with a number of opinions on all sides of the issue.. The real story may be DNA, crime, and science..

Innocence until proven guilty.. Until DNA can immediately convict someone .. Or exonerate someone..

The entire judicial system is being turned on its head by progress and scientific discovery..

There are a lot of cultural and judicial ramifications. This documentary seems to be hitting a nerve.. A nerve at the core of how American justice is served. And so often not served.

New Dietary Guidelines: Cut Sugar, Eat More Veggies

“Despite heavy lobbying by the food industry, the guidelines — which set the standard for federal food programs such as school lunches and food stamps — also recommend that most people get 2,300 mg of salt a day or less. The average American gets 3,400 mg a day, Burwell said — and that can lead to high blood pressure.”

South Korea to restart propaganda loudspeakers on North's border

The tension returns.. The war games return..

The broadcasts will restart on Friday, South Korea’s presidential office says, calling the North’s bomb test a “grave violation” of an agreement in August between the two Koreas, which had aimed to ease mutual tension. At that time, the two traded artillery fire after Pyongyang had demanded a halt to the broadcasts.

I may have found my much more popular doppelgänger.. Perhaps contact should be made? But would works collide? Would the center of gravity give out?
By the way the close up is me. The other one is the popular guy.

Rob Zombie's '31' Receives an R-Rating - Bloody Disgusting!

There were tears from the hardcore horror buffs who demand blood and gore.. This movie got an NC 17 two times.
Obviously something or somethings were cut to make it R..

No worries for those still craving the desire to see needless violence.. 31 is still going to feature, “strong bloody horror violence, pervasive language, sexual content and drug use.”
Rejoice. I suppose.

'New shock claim' JFK was 'murdered by CIA' days after demanding UFO files and NASA visit

It’s really not a new claim.. It’s been around as long as conspiracy lure concerning the Kennedy assassination.. But it’s always interesting to see it splashed again in tabloids with new evidence being offered up that it was the desire to know the truth about space aliens that may have got JFK killed..

The demon next to the baby..

This is going viral.. The very TABLOID UK SUN reports:

WHAT should have been a heart-warming experience for expectant parents turned into a chilling moment as a bizarre demon-shaped figure was found lurking in an ultrasound image.

The snap has gone viral since it was posted on imgur a day ago under the headline ‘A friend’s ultrasound. When you see it …’, where visitors to the site quickly picked up on the disturbing presence of the ‘demon’, seen in the top right-hand corner of the mother’s womb.

The sinister grainy outline has divided commentators, as some insist the shape resembles a mythical creature, while others among the 710,000 social media users to have seen the page insist it depicts something more sinister.

Yes, it’s really ‘volcano season,’ say scientists.. And: There’s a 5 percent to 10 percent chance in the next 80 years, scientists say, one of these eruptions will kill millions of people and poison the atmosphere beyond the imagination of anything man’s activity could do in 1,000 years.

So there you go, then.

Americans Confused About Cancer Risks

Well when a new study comes out daily refuting the previous day’s study about what causes cancer, should there be any confusion as to why there is confusion to begin with!? Honestly, navigating through the realities of what and how to eat is difficult..

Studies about what cause cancer may actually cause cancer, according to a new study.

Insult or not

My wife and I took our son to see ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS this weekend.. when we were there, the cashier told me, “When you come here, we all say you are the guy who looks like Ed Helms.” I thanked them for their….honestly? I contemplated this a bit.

I love VACATION, really funny movie. Ed Helms is talented.. but .. looking like Ed Helms? What place does that put me in life? Where am I now..? The guy who looks like Ed Helms to movie theater employees.

Insult? or not?

Nah…?

Panty hose comeback..

Or so some say.

But beware.. there are 48 reasons from Buzzfeed you may want to reconsider.

Asteroid 2013 TX68 was discovered in October 2013. And it’s going to be in the news March 2016

Yes, this year..

The asteroid often makes close approaches to Earth, and will make one such approach sometime between March 3 and March 8, 2016

Get this:

While the nominal (best fit) orbit suggests that it will pass 1.3 Lunar distances (LD) from the Earth, it may pass as close as 0.061 LD (23,600 km) to the Earth or 0.032 LD (12,200 km) to the Moon- although not using the same orbit. The asteroid is only 21-52 meters across, making it approximately as twice as large as the Chelyabinsk meteor and likely creating a large fireball in the sky, and possibly an impact crater. This would create an impact between 100 and 575 meters across, assuming an impact angle of less than 45 degrees.

Here is the official NASA page on the coming event.

The Ides of March, anyone?

CDC DEBATE: The agency’s website previously had said that any risks “likely are comparable to other lifestyle choices we make every day.” Within weeks, though, the C.D.C. reversed course. It no longer recommended caution, and deleted a passage specifically addressing potential risks for children. Mainstream scientific consensus holds that there is little to no evidence that cellphone signals raise the risk of brain cancer or other health problems; rather, behaviors like texting while driving are seen as the real health concerns. Nevertheless, more than 500 pages of internal records obtained by The New York Times, along with interviews with former agency officials, reveal a debate and some disagreement among scientists and health agencies about what guidance to give as the use of mobile devices skyrockets.

Light above Australia called likely ball lightning.. but it’s an amazing scene nonetheless..

This week: Winter comes to the Northeast. Goodbye 70s.. hello the real thing.
Can’t say it’s the ‘return of winter’ since winter never really hit yet. This is the first time this year. And because of that, it will appear to be even colder than it is, until the body adjusts.. We aren’t used to this, Eastern Seaboard people. Time to put away the shorts and employ the highest degree of warmth available to you. Times are changing. The polar express is late. But arriving..
