I am feeling exhausted
My son has been a little under the weather for a few days. My wife is in bed early. I am heading there soon, too.
Listen, I love this time of year. Autumn leaves .. the colors.. the cool breeze. But this year something is nagging deep at my spirit. The perpetual onslaught of time isn’t helping. The constant transition from season to season, year to year.. all seems to be speeding up.
And this year, my perhaps more-fragile-than-they-should-be 32 year old bones are feeling the weather change. So is a bear that ate garbage near my house last night. And three snakes stuck on a sticky trap that tried to get in my house last week. Everyone seems to have a sense of dread for this winter..
Maybe because it’s 12/21/12. The end. Or just the beginning.
All that news that may not matter by tomorrow.

He ain’t nothing but a hound dog..
There may be some who say Elvis still lives, but others admit the truth: The once amazing star of music lore is long gone. But is his spirit?
That is what a paranormal team is looking in to right now.. According to rumor, Elvis Presley’s ghostly spirit may be frequenting the location where the 1960 movie FLAMING STAR was filmed. He was in that film.. It’s not the Buckhorn Motel at 5900 East Main Street in Mesa. This weekend, with this new story, it’s getting a ton of attention…
The Arizona Paranormal Investigations team will conduct a session research at the site.. (What better time of year than October to do that, of course). But this time, the public is invited to attend the 6pm to 9pm ‘investigation’ at the Buckhorn.. persons are being invited by the Mesa Historical Museum—as it is a fundraiser.
Don’t get me wrong. I am sure folks are “all shook up” about the chances that Elvis has not left the building—and I mean absolutely no offense to the Mesa historical group—but the chances of finding anything except a public relations event from this is impossible. It’s meant to be a fundraiser. It’s not meant, in spirit, to find a spirit. That is at least my humble opinion.
As a matter of fact, as the East Valley TRIBUNE reported on this, no one is quite sure when Elvis was EVEN IN THE BUILDING! See this:
“We don’t know exactly when he stayed there, but we’re trying to find out,” said Lisa Anderson, executive director of the Mesa Historical Museum. “But there’s evidence that Elvis likely stayed here at some point; we’re just trying to find out exactly when. We’re going through ledgers to see when he would’ve checked in, but there’s also the possibility that he could’ve checked in under an assumed name.”
So we have a fundraiser, an inability to know when Elvis was even there, and a public ‘investigation’. Ghost hunting can be fun.. but in this situation I can’t help but thinking it’s ALL FUN.
Elvis may be in the building. I doubt we will know after October 20 if he is.
Scary new numbers: Deadly meningitis outbreak increases to 91
On Sunday, US health officials reported 27 new cases of the deadly disease.. Now 91 cases. 7 dead. All from a painkiller—a steroid that has led to crisis within the states where the disease is hitting..
The source of the steroid injection that is causing this outbreak is from a New England company from Farmingham, Massachusetts. The company name is Compounding Center Inc.
The company has now issued a voluntary recall on all products.
VOLUNTARY!? You have got to be kidding.
91 being hit with meningitis linked to a steroid injection from its company and it’s all voluntary? See something amiss? See how pharmaceuticals have been permitted to dominate with greed but no creed?
The hunt for more victims is now underway .. Don’t think for a second this will stop at 91 cases..
The Smoking Gun website started it all when it began trickling out information that the New York City restaurant owned by Lady Gaga and her family received several citations in a recent inspection..
The early October inspection of Joanne Trattoria received several infractions along with serious contamination warnings.. One commenter on the Smoking Gun article joked that she’d rather eat at Joanne Fabrics..
So now on the Internet a firestorm ensues.. One mocking Gaga and family over dirty conditions.. One mocking Gaga over her weight gain by eating at the family business too often. Yes the media feeding frenzy of gossip rags and superficial websites can be cruel.
What is clear is this: The NYC eatery needs to clean up some seriously bad conditions for the safety of its patrons. And also clear: Regardless of whether it does the is guilty again of propping up a star and then tearing her down.
But with this go around on character assassination at the hands of paparazzi and trash pubs, there is a new factor to consider: That the bigger she is the harder she’ll fall.

But the idea of wearing this from face of death is a little shocking, in fact an equally shocking item is how quick someone can capitalize on horror.. They can sleep at night? I suppose.. It’s capitalism after all.
eBay made the right choice to pull the mask. I have seen some online rumblings of people saying the mask seller’s right to sell was violated. But eBay has an equal right to choose its rules. If the government tells eBay or the seller what to sell I’ll concede a constitutional violation.
But deep down for those who want the mask, I can only ask simply: what would make someone want to dress up like James Holmes?

Saturday night's main event: The fever returns
Just another Saturday night in parenting land.
It’s funny, my wife and I always have a tiny sense of dread about Saturday nights. It’s because whenever in the 20-month-history of our son Ayden’s life, he has been sick, teething, went to emergency rooms, or broke legs right before the weekend. And this weekend, yet again, is no different.
He’s running a low grade fever all day. Drinking lots of fluid, he was eating pretty well, and he was watching Caillou all day—listen, ALL DAY! ALL DAY!!! It’s his comfort so mom and dad let it happen. And now, he just fell asleep yet again with a fever running up. Motrin/Tylenol and all that stuff is ready for the night. I may turn in early in case he wakes up… then I’ll play Caillou yet again and listen to John B Wells on Coast to Coast AM in one ear. I think he’s talking about destruction coming with planet Nibiru. So while I comfort my son I’ll be scared to death at conspiracy madness 2012. Can’t wait.
Just hope the fever goes away. It may be a long night. But hopefully a long night of sleep. As parents out there may know though, it could also be a long night of AM cries and highs .. Wish us all luck here in the mountains of the coal region….
