The Eastern PA Weather Authority website just upgraded virtually everyone in estimated snow totals for today’s mini-blizzardo diablo.

I’m not quite sure if I am with them, but I think the 6 inches for my area is more likely than the 2 inches being called by others..

Paging Andre Linoge. I hope by posting this it will be a good luck charm t get that blizzard of 2013 I’ve been rooting for since November 2012.

East Coasters: Look how many snowstorms we may have to contend with in the next few days

We are going from a warm December.. to a frightfully cold period of time. Along with numerous chances for large scale snowstorms.

The first tonight —it’s minor. But it will be a white Christmas thanks to it (snow will easily brush off your car).. look for Santa’s sleigh tracks.

By the time the ball drops on 2013, we may be sick of snow already..

The Saturday morning Frankenstorm update

All of those links are worthy to look at now and as the storm continues.

Here at Coal Speaker base, it appears as though Sandy is going to be making a direct run for my neck of the woods. As she does she is going to be bringing hell and high water to numerous mid-Atlantic states.

I worry about the storm surge in New York City, along with the underground subway system. I really do. They are prepping for disaster, but I don’t know if they are ready for catastrophe (which we all hope to hell does not occur)..

The wind will be a major issue. I doubt my power will stay on, though I hope it fends for its electrical life as Sandy hovers over.. Also a fear: The rain. Last year Lee and Irene dumped enough to flood out so many places here in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware.. Remember though 8 to 12 inches of rain fell over a week. This time the rain will be just as heavy and fall within 3 to 4 days. That will make situations much faster and dramatic. Flash flooding instead of a slowly creeping water line.. All this while power is out..? This is going to be a truly devastating storm for so many people..

If only divine intervention could toss it out to see.. Or Governor Chris Christie’s mighty blow from his 500 pound bag of wind. Neither appears likely at this point.

Airline travelers are angry.

Travelers say airlines’ customer service failed

Yes they are angry. But 30 inches plus of snow just fell on a city that rarely gets cold in the winter time!

Now that’s not giving any excuse for some of the most dramatic after effects of the storm of the new century in New York City. Babies dying and EMS workers not being able to get to locations due to snow covered roads is a major problem that hasn’t been greatly addressed by the City.

But I think as far as airlines, it’s important to remember that if a plane took off from an icy runway, lawyers would be waiting on the edge of a tarmac for problems. They would be quick to sue and sue big. I think airlines, being overly cautious, may be annoying as people are waiting, but it’s necessary. Just like the Eagles’ cancellation. I would have loved to see the Eagles (lose) play during a snowstorm, but public safely took precedence. Airlines are making the right choice in their caution. And they are losing about $150mil (so far) ..
