The autism no one talks about

Read this great article on Huffington Post today about the autism no one talks about.. And you should read it too

The gut feeling on autism

This is something that people have been saying for years–and with autism in my family, I have seen it too..

Now a study is coming out to document what many parents (often called crazy) have been saying: Autism is tied to higher gut disorders for children..

Compared to those with typical development, children with autism were more likely to have constipation and diarrhea when they were ages 6 months to 18 months, and more likely to have diarrhea, constipation and food allergy/intolerance when they were ages 18 months to 36 months, the researchers said…

And just to spice up the argument and tension a bit: Common infant vaccines are tied to rise in risk for bowel complications..

Another study confirms: Pesticide exposure in pregnancy linked to autism risk in kids

Yes there are studies all of the time which indicate strange things are associated with autism and other developmental disorders.. But this is not the first time I have seen the link between pesticides and the impact on brain neurons..

Give the story a full read.
And no, it won’t settle anything.. but it certainly may make some of our daily lives unsettling.

Autism Nation: America's Chemical Brain Drain

The linked article is interesting and disturbing.. Why is autism so high? Sure, we’re told that it’s because of ‘better screening.’ I am getting tired of the ‘better screening’ argument.. anyone with common sense knows that there are many more instances of severe autism hitting families across the planet.. especially America and other ‘industrialized nations’…

Counties and states killing weeds with sprays.. Food filled with chemicals.. BPA in plastics.. heavy metals, fluoride in water for babies who still don’t have their first set of teeth..

The article details toxins in food, air, and everything. Every place your child plays.. every place your baby in a womb goes..

The money quotes you should consider:

Americans are exposed to over 83,000 industrial chemicals as part of modern civilization. Virtually all pregnant women are walking chemical repositories. Tracking 163 chemicals, 99 percent of pregnant women tested positive for at least 43 different chemicals

And

Other studies show that the average newborn enters the world on day one “pre-polluted,” harboring hundreds of chemicals and heavy metals acquired during intrauterine life, and many of those undoubtedly reach the brain during critical windows of embryonic development. None of those chemicals enhance the natural process of brain maturation; many of them are known to be toxic to neurons and brain tissue.

And this:

Most pesticides work by causing chemical disruption of the brain and nervous system of insects. In fact, many pesticides are merely derivations of chemical warfare agents of the World War I and World War II era, i.e. nerve gases. It should be no surprise, then, that human nerve cells could also be affected, especially when considering that at the critical embryonic stage, the human fetal brain is no larger than that of many insects.

How ‘safe’..

Often I offer only bad news with no hope.

There may be hope today though, hope that wasn’t here before.

There could game changing positive breakthroughs coming.. 7 SAN DIEGO says this,

Autistic stem cells are starting respond to experimental drugs in what San Diego researchers are calling a breakthrough in the disorder affecting one in 68 children.

UC San Diego scientists took stem cells from children with autism and reprogrammed them into brain cells.

Amazing times we live in.
But poisonous times, too..

While we work on the ‘cure’ for autism, we should also try to find the trigger. Or triggers. Or chemicals.

The truth is out there… maybe in the air, water.. or land. But it’s there somewhere..

Autism rates now 1 in 68 U.S. children

And it’s not just the 1 in 68 number that is hard hitting, but it’s this too: This new figure is a 30% jump in numbers from just two years ago..

And we know these facts:

This newest estimate is based on the CDC’s evaluation of health and educational records of all 8-year-old children in 11 states: Alabama, Wisconsin, Colorado, Missouri, Georgia, Arkansas, Arizona, Maryland, North Carolina, Utah and New Jersey.

The incidence of autism ranged from a low of 1 in 175 children in Alabama to a high of 1 in 45 in New Jersey, according to the CDC.

Children with autism continue to be overwhelmingly male. According to the new report, the CDC estimates 1 in 42 boys has autism, 4.5 times as many as girls (1 in 189).

BUT..

and the big BUT…

Maybe autism isn’t on the rise (?)

Either way.. it’s seems to be a big deal.

And a mystery transforming the brains of the young and the future of the world..

The bees and the brain...

A new study has been released linking autism and other disorders of the brain to chemicals..

According to the data, industrial chemicals has risen over the past 7 years and can be tied in with autism..

The LANCET NEUROLOGY journal—which is a peer reviewed and high respected publication.

Among the chemicals cited: Chlorpyrifos, Tetrachloroethylene, lead, methylmercury, polychlorinated biphenyls, arsenic, and toluene..

The trials and tribulations of parenting.. across the world

Being a parent means you have to keep your guard up.. know what the kids’ lingo of the hour is, know what their every movement is even when they don’t know.. be aware of the total situation of their lives but at the same time let them live it and permit them to think they have freedom to do what they want, even though you know the perfect moment to reign them in.  To borrow a theme from our latest headlines, basically, a parent is the NSA, constantly spying on its citizens..

And now it’s time, for me and my wife, to learn more about asthma. After a medical appointment yesterday, little Ayden was diagnosed with it officially. We somewhat knew it would going to occur sooner or later.. we were warned by pediatricians for a year. But it’s it’s more real to hear the real diagnosis made.

Millions of kids are diagnosed with something every day.. asthma, while awful in its own right, isn’t nearly as severe a condition as what some other children are living through right now. It is hell on earth for so many as I type and as you read this..

This did,  however, bring up in my mind an important question for our time. We know autism is skyrocketing.. and allergies.. and asthma.. and other conditions affecting the behavior and health  of children. While all of these specific conditions are completely separete, is there a common lining that ties them together? One that trained researchers have yet to see?

A SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN article from 2011 details the surging asthma rates among kids.. (They have continued surging since 2011 and are doing so to this day) .. And the basic premise of the theory presented in this article: We live in a world too clean and therefore better sanitary conditions deprive the immune system of ‘training’ needed to keep the body healthy. So ragweed, dust, and everything else become bigger threats.

Ok. I get that. We are pretty clean. Well, most of us. With the exception of some names floating through my head that I’d never publish online..

But let’s think outside the box for a moment. This may require a nicely fitted tin foil hat.

Here’s a link that shows asthma rates across the world in 2004:

World Prevalence Map

Here is a map that shows autism rates across the world:

image

And finally.. here is a map that shows the countries across the world who use genetically modified food and where GMO use is widespread in the food supply.

image

A few maps and a few links don’t solve mysteries or answer questions. But you see a theme here? You see the same countries shaded darker? Oh sure, maybe some just have ‘more people’ and therefore rates are higher.. and maybe there’s other environmental factors.. and maybe ‘better observations’ and diagnosis.. and maybe ‘better medicine’ that spots these things in our children.. and the beat goes on. There could be a number of things that have nothing in common leading to the maps to look almost roughly exact..

But for as for me? Maybe my tin foil hate is too tight.. but I have no questions. Do you?

IS THIS PRODUCT CAUSING INCREASED CASES OF AUTISM, PARKINSON’S, AND ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE?

A new study is linking Monsanto’s Roundup weed killer with major effects on the human body..

Monsanto is calling the study bogus and bad science. But hell, what else but that could they say??

Here is the science of it, as reported by NATIONOFCHANGE.ORG:

Glyphosate impairs the cytochrome P450 (CYP) gene pathway, which creates enzymes that help to form and also break down molecules in cells. There are myriad important CYP enzymes, including aromatase (the enzyme that converts androgen into estrogen) and 21-Hydroxylase, which creates cortisol (stress hormone) and aldosterone (regulates blood pressure). One function of these CYP enzymes is also to detoxify xenobiotics, which are foreign chemicals like drugs, carcinogens or pesticides. Glyphosate inhibits these CYP enzymes, which has rippling effects throughout our body.

Interestingly, though, Monsanto isn’t the sole company that has the rights to use glyphosate .. They did create it, but their patent on it expired in 2010. To maybe it’s unfair to  blame them solely if glyphosate truly does have these effects on human beings—at least post 2010.

However, Roundup is a big seller worldwide..

It’s fast action.

It kills weeds and roots.

And it has a beautiful color that looks very friendly to nature.

This story suggests the ingredient glyphosate is quite the opposite of healthy and wholesome..

Are two mysteries linked? I don't know but it's a compelling possibility..

The cycle of destruction? Could it be that there is a common denominator between colony collapse and autism? Birds and the bees and the kids and the trees.. we are all connected after all.. So why wouldn’t chemicals hit us all, too..?

Just another study..

Autism rates are high. So are obesity rates. And tonight, a study that somehow tries to link both together is getting a lot of press and air time..  More on that study here if you wish to grin and bear it..

The basic gist, if you couldn’t get the relation, is that moms are really obese before they get pregnant.. and then after …jeeezsh.. that recommended weight gain puts them in a tip the scales category. Of course, no matter those skinny moms and dads in skinny jeans that ended up with an autistic baby.. Indeed, indeed..

So tonight, if you’re a big fat pregnant woman who lives near a freeway and has a husband and father-to-be who is over the age of 35 and works with computers, your child may be autistic.

It’s certainly interesting. All these years and we still can’t truly pinpoint what cases Alzheimer’s or autism. All the brain power going towards finding the causes.. all that brainpower lost on the mysteries of the brain.

More than $1billion has been spent over the past decade to try to find out the reason that children have autism. Hopefully the $1billion will pay off over the next decade.

Until then lose weight, move into the country, and quit the computer job. And get younger, too.

Gene Studies of Autism Point to Mutations and Parents' Age

Gene Studies of Autism Point to Mutations and Parents' Age

1 year vaccines?

My son has his check up tomorrow. He is happy and fun at 13 months… Give me advice on vaccines… skip them? Delay them? Get them all.. break them up? inquiring minds want to know what followers may suggest. Just wondering is all……………?

Perhaps it is better screening after all?

Perhaps it is better screening after all?
The news is startling.. one in 88.. or … one in 70 kids have autism. Or is it 60? Or maybe 50..  Or some outrageously high number, I guess, have autism. But it’s all due to that ‘better screening’.. The modern media thinks we will believe that. ‘Better screening’… does that excuse really fly?

29?

Fact: Newest numbers showcase this: 1 in about 88 kids have autism.

People lit it up blue today to remind us all of that.

We don’t need reminding.

Autism  has now reared its head into a mega load of lives in the United States and the world. It’s not just the person down the street, but now it’s the person in the house. Or a friend of the person in the house. It’s not just something that hits someone else’s home far away; it hits home.

Earlier today the fine folks at FineArtStream.com, the 24/7 Art Bell rerun website played a show form 2006 when Art talked to a guest speaking about how autism rates were around the 1 in 188 range. They shunned the suggestion that better screening led to such epidemic like rates.  It is obvious it may have an effect, but not nearly as profound as what some say.

So we may now have finally admitted it.. Autism is on the rise.  Will the cure be found? Maybe we must first find the cause.

We need to find why boys are more likely than girls to get it.. we need to find why some have warning signs but regression doesn’t hit until 18 months.. we need to find out why women who live near highways are more likely to have babies with autism… And we need to ask really serious, hard, difficult, and probing questions about vaccines. I know ‘two dozen’ studies failed to link vaccines.. but I frankly don’t care. Study it more. Please? 1 in 88 kids’ lives and maybe soon 1 in 33 kids’ lives depend on that.

The brutal truth, not for better but for worse, is that the number may simply climb from this point. What are the implications of that? Lots.

Societal implications.

Career implications.

Political implications.

Budgetary implications.

Get the picture yet?

The future is now, the autism generation is here.

They are not one in a million, but 1 in 88. And they are growing up.. will people without knowledge of their symptoms even understand them? Will their presence be unwanted? Will their gifts and talents be appreciated the same as others? What will we do to help them once their safety net has expired from the earth? Parents take great care of their children … what about when mom and dad pass into the great unknown.. and 1 in 88 are alone to fend for themselves? It certainly appears that many of the 50 states of the once great America don’t have a mighty high place for autism in budgets. Then again, what lobby do kids with autism really have, anyway?

I get the feeling that all of this talk today about autism in media and TV may have been actually been a disservice in a sense. It made autism seem, still, like it was someone else’s problem.

Listen.. 1 in 88 kids have autism. Did you hear that?

I have two nephews who are afflicted. And guess what.. they are two beautiful, wonderful, human beings. Quite frankly, I often think they are a hell of a lot smarter than me.

As a matter of fact….

Keep this in mind: People with autism are.. *GASP!* people!  with feelings! awareness! habits! laughter! kindness! tears! and fears. Yes fears. They have them. Maybe more than “US”.

They are nothing like us but everything like ‘us’ at the same time.

Oh, and what are we?  What are us ‘common folk’ and ‘normal folk’ like? Think of this truth: We enter a rat race every day in a car that could crash.. we head to a job we really don’t want just to make a simple income to buy a few things after we pay for bills. Many of us choose to use leftover cash on booze and drugs to dull the mind to the depression that would occur if we really thought about existence. Sometimes we drown out the night by casting the blue light of the television set in our living rooms, as though it will tube up the worst of the day and make us faaaaghhettabout it….  We overeat sometimes. Or under eat. Some of us make ourselves vomit because we hate our bodies. Others look in the mirror and see perfection—those are the vain ones of ‘us.’ They probably think the song is about them…………..And that’s that. And some of those same ‘normal folk’ with their highs and lows, often unnatural, think they are better.. Laughable, isn’t it? Laughable indeed.

What do we know tonight that we did not know in 2008, 2006, 2002, 2000, 1997, 1995, 1992, 1988, 1980? NOTHING.

1 in 88

We know that….

And that, really, is all we know. No matter what ‘experts’ or highly paid ‘not us’s’ tell you.
