A really worthwhile documentary on Centralia for anyone who is interested..
The movie was put on VIMEO by Joe Sapienza II..
A stroll down memory lane for me..
We now know this:
Over 2,000 care-home kids were secretly vaccinated against diphtheria in the 1930s in medical trials undertaken by international drugs giant Burroughs Wellcome, Irish media reveal. Among the testing sites was a recently discovered mass grave.
The medical records cited by the Irish Daily Mail show that some 2,051 children and babies across several Irish care homes may have been subjected to the practice.
I agree. I actually tried to make the point originally that the media doesn’t know much at all about where Slenderman started, and now they will be using him as a sensational angle to crime stories..
Do NOT hold a “celebrity” above yourself. They are human just like you and just because society has constructed a hierarchical word like “celebrity” does not mean you should EVER feel they are any better than you or that you are not just as good as they are.
Hero worship is bad for your health.
Some good advice (and a great TUMBLR to follow) ..
Celebrity worship is dangerous.
Be aware..
This is really a fascinating REASON story.. and really frightening too.
We are not “close” to the future where privacy is dead, we are in it. The information age and been pushed aside.. hubris and selfishness and selfies have led to people releasing every possible thing about themselves on every app they can.. and all the while, alphabet agencies in the police state are showering themselves with your person information.
It’s here, baby. Welcome to your future.
From REASON, reporting no a new book called THE NAKED FUTURE: WHAT HAPPENS IN A WORLD THAT ANTICIPATES YOUR EVERY MOVE by Patrick Tucker, the money quote:
To illustrate just how naked we all soon will be, Tucker opens with a vignette from the near future in which your cellphone wakes you with a text message alerting you that on your way to work you will run into an old girlfriend who is going to tell you the happy news that she is engaged. The phone tells to you to act surprised at the news. This scenario unfolds as predicted, but instead of waiting for her to tell you, you blurt out your congratulations. As it happens, she not yet made her new romantic status public and is quite alarmed by your mistimed felicitations. The phone did warn you to act surprised.
Tucker then explores the early technologies that are combining to make this future a reality. Consider how the phone knew that you would run into your old girlfriend. Tucker discusses database investigations conducted by University of Rochester researcher Adam Sadelik to predict where people will be in the future using Bayesian software techniques. Parsing a database of 26 million tweets, of which 7.6 million were geotagged, from 1.2 million people in Los Angeles and New York, Sadelik tried to learn about the locations of people who did not geotag their tweets. He found that if non-geotaggers have two real friends who do allow their tweets to be mapped, his system “can predict your location at any moment (down to 328 feet and within a 20 minute time frame) with 47 percent accuracy.” That’s nearly a 50-50 chance of catching you, even if you think you’re opting out.
….welcome to your life.
A fictional horror creature popularized by Internet memes is now linked to three violent crimes.
Another link that may help the anonymous questioner a few hours ago that tried to say I am making things up..
And to another questioner who called me names (so I will not publish that one): I know Slenderman is not real.. I get he was made up. But the meme and tupla existed far longer than the Slenderman of internet fame.. the powerful image of a faceless tall man has been around for some time.
The real issue here is not that Slenderman has come alive and taken over minds, the real issue is that the media is going to sensationalize a monster that is not real..
Remember: There were never knives in apples on Halloween, even though we check every year.. And Slenderman is not real. Even though three crimes are now being blamed no him by mainstream media..
Rats are capable of feeling regret about their own actions, an emotion that has never previously been found in any other mammals apart from humans.
So .. does that make you feel a bit more guilty about rat lab experimentation? Maybe they’d feel guilty about it..
This is a pretty important study in my book.. If I had a book about studies, I suppose.
I think you were referring to my latest post about the Las Vegas shooter reportedly dressing as Slenderman..
I think you need to click through to an article I linked, such as this from CNN:
While authorities have yet to identify them, a woman who says she lived near them told CNN affiliate KTNV that the married couple liked to dress up as the villainous Batman characters Joker and Harley Quinn.
The neighbor, Krista Koch, told the station the man also sometimes dressed as Slenderman, a fictional horror character that recently surfaced in the stabbing of a 12-year-old girl in Wisconsin.
Hope that helps.. And perhaps absolves me of ‘click bait’
This is an amazing shot.. a ‘red rainbow’ appeared over Atlanta last week after a storm.. Beautiful.
It looks eerily like the cover of UNDER THE DOME by Stephen King..
Yet ANOTHER story that has a Slenderman tie in is making news today.. it was reported hours ago that a girl in Ohio who was fascinated by ‘Slenderman’ tried to stab her mother.. this after a Wisconsin stabbing a week ago by two 12-year-olds who wanted to visit Slenderman at his forest mansion.. And now this: A shooting occurred Sunday in Las Vegas.. Two right wing extremists yelled “this is a revolution” before they killed two police officers. Then they ran into a Walmart and a killed a shopper before the wife killed her husband and then herself.. IT seems to have been political in nature, but there is a weird tie-in to Slenderman.
I am always perplexed by the ‘coincidences’ that fill our headlines and litter our histories.. Things that should not happen simply because the rare occasion of them occurring would need stars to line up and miracles (or the opposite) to occur.
One such event made news in Texas.. A head-on collision took place on Road 87 North and FM 2379. Both drivers were pronounced dead.. both drivers, in separate cars, were married.. the husband and wife had their respective lives extinguished at the hands of each other..
There are three children that survive without a mother and father now. A tragic accident.. a strange series of events that caused both to be at the wrong place at the right time.. both now dead at the hands of some force or fate that often destroys people and ruins lives. With is this yin and yang we call life? What is this series of unfortunate events we call coincidence?
Hearts out to the grieving relatives and friends.. But I am still amazed and confused of the chances of this occurring and the fact that it did..
The CIA is now on Twitter.. Their first tweet saying they could neither confirm nor deny its their first tweet exploded in popularity.
Don’t tell me for a second you wouldn’t excrete a brick if they followed you.
A few months ago HUSTLER magazine was trying to court Justin Bieber. Now, because of the boy no-wonder’s 15-year-old racist rants, Larry Flynt is turning away.. The man child star may have lost his chance for HUSTLER fame.
Yet another massive asteroid—this was called ‘the beast’— sailed its way past the earth without fanfare or incident.. Thankfully.. if HQ124 hit, it could have been monstrous. The troubling part about the Beast—along with many other asteroids lately—is how they get discovered just before they may potentially strike. This was in April.. The size of this one has many scratching their heads as to why it took so long to see..
