And some other films I am looking forward to: M Night Shyamalan’s THE VISIT, the POLTERGEIST remake, and Stephen King’s CELL movie..AINT IT COOL has the epic list of the other amazing movies being released in ’15..

Now I suppose scores of Catholic school boys will suddenly want their religion teachers to plan a voyage to the Sistine Chapel during spring..

This is amazing.. Facebook begins as a social experiment in a college.. a way of picking up women and getting sex.. it turns into an underage delight, with people way too young being on there experimenting with posting nonsense their parents should not see.

And now, the elderly come in.. joining in huge numbers and becoming addicted to FARMVILLE and all of the other atrocious games that people play.

The social network.. aging and graying.. but strong still..

There’s always time for Billy Joel, but after getting a 3am text from a friend saying that songs by him, especially this one, makes him think of me, I found the need to post this Saturday..

This song has been a very important song for me since 1993 when it came out. I find it to be the best song on the RIVER OF DREAMS album and, clearly, prophetic since it was the last time Joel actually crafted a pop album.. 

Another little secret of this song is that it reminds me of my birthday in September.. and my favorite time of year, the autumn.. and changes, and growing.. and aging.. And all the good and amazing things in life, but all of the troubling as well..

I recently was looking through some old art I drew in high school and found an image of a friend I drew around 1996 and I sent it to him.  He and I had a long, meaningful, and nostalgic Facebook conversation that took us from our first Angelfire websites all the way to talking about those from our class of 1999 who have already tragically succumbed to their final fates of death.. 

This song, I think, can be a soundtrack to life in some way. An anthem—but you can pick what it is an anthem to. Either the goodness of that wedding cake, or sadness of seeing apples fall from trees in autumn.

We all find meaning in something, or at least attempt to..
My friend finds this song to mean something about me,
And at 3am, that can get you emotional.

Update on the Boko Haram extermination: A town has been hit.. And hit hard.. as reported yesterday, some say hundreds are dead but other experts are standing by their number of 2,000 dead. Can you just contemplate that for a second? In our modern world–the 21st century–we are still seeing murderous maniacs kills .. and their success rate is getting better by the murder.. Amnesty International is calling this the deadliest in Haram’s history..

News from Venezuela .. shoppers throng grocery stores under the protection of the military.. note the news media reports “under the protection” of the military. That connotes a good feeling, doesn’t it? That the military is allowing people to safely get food.. But consider the real truth: There are massive food shortages that has forced the government to actually put food distribution UNDER THE CONTROL of the military, assuring that people will only receive the small rations the military deems is necessary.. there are long lines in many places, and people still cannot get the basic goods they need to live.  And why the food shortages?  Collapsing oil prices and 60+ percent inflation rates.

Anonymous now declares war no terrorist websites. 

The not so good news about the Friday jobs report: Private sector good. Government jobs? Bad.. Government employment is down and may go further down–the recession is hitting the public sector much later than everyone else.

The next thing to fear: Chaos predicted as we add another second to the clock in the summer.. But hey, at least it won’t be cold and snowy when all technology and power system fail, right?

Consider this: DRONE parenting on the rise.. Move over baby monitors.. drones are coming in for the landing on your baby’s crib. And while some may fear such change and, as so often said, claim it will be a ‘mark of the beast,’ I say good! technology that can keep tabs on a baby’s heart and pulse while they rest and you can comfortably count no a drone to keep tabs..? that’s not bad. And not for one second do I believe that it will eliminate any human emotion or interaction with a child, it will only compliment those nervous parents (like me) who constantly want to make sure their child is okay. Three cheers for technology. There will be so many good things that come with it. Oh, and the mark of the beast, as well..

AOL/TIME WARNER deal 15 years later. It is still considered the worst deal of the century..

State authorities have shut down a day care in Wyndmoor, Montgomery County has been shut down following the death of a child.

Apparently footage exists of a worker putting a sheet over a child’s face.

I have no words that describe my anger and disgust. I am sure you don’t either..
