Irony? I don't know ...

Newsweek ran a big cover story on Bitcoin and they outed the founder.

Newsweek has been digital for 15 months—like Bitcoin. But they picked their Bitcoin cover and story to appear in the first issue that they are back in print on newstands again.

I am confused..

Bitcoin.. crypto-currency. Virtual money..

Newsweek.. virtual paper and now real paper.

The world is back asswards sometimes.

This is it.

NEWSWEEK is done.

At least in the print world..

Digital it will live. But thrive? I don’t know.

TINA BROWN said the Zeitgeist was against the publication. But why? Why not TIME magazine.

I recall a few years ago when US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT died away from newstands, too. But what did that magazine offer? Morty Zuck had nothing but bucks.. nothing to give readers either besides long lists of the ‘best of’ that no one ever read. The people who made the US NEWS ‘best of’ lists probably didn’t even know that they made it..

TIME magazine is still alive. Thriving? I don’t know. They just chose BARACK OBAMA as their person of the year—a safe choice and predictable one.. Will they be next in the digital universe? Abandoning the stains of print in turn for the speed of the phone?

Lots of people will lament NEWSWEEK’s print passing. Some won’t.

But one day, maybe when that solar storm does actually hit, we will yearn for the days of print. Yearn for the days when we can hold a magazine in our hands…

Or will we..

It's over: NEWSWEEK goes digital

After 80 years NEWSWEEK as a printed magazine will cease to exist.. December 31 is the final issue. After that all digital is the new NEWSEEEK norm.

Whether people know it or not the more old fashioned print dies away the more we will lose out in the end.. The idea of sitting back and relaxing each week with a magazine or newspaper is going to be something gone and mourned when it is..

Has anyone thought about the crisis doctors and dentists face? No print? What will they put in their waiting rooms?! Maybe they’ll just leave what they have their now: HIGHLIGHTS for kids from 1989 and SPORTS ILLUSTRATED with the victory of the Boston Red Sox on the cover…

Who killed print? The readers or the printers?

Who will miss it? Maybe everyone more than we know..

I plan on reading this week’s NEWSWEEK cover this week with a neurosurgeon talking about NDEs..

If you read it before I do give me your thoughts, I’d like to hear them..?

This is the Daily Beast and Newsweek.. Will it be newsweak with Tina or strong again? The redesign features bulky verdana letters.. And Hillary in her finest of light..

Tina Brown going where others have gone before: The logical choice for a logical cover.. The redesign looks a lot like the previous if you ask me. But no one did.
