CHILDHOOD'S END looks like an amazing three night event on SYFY in December

Arthur C. Clarke's famous CHILDHOOD'S END is going to get an adaptation on SYFY. If done right, it could be good.

The 1953 Clarke book is a science fiction novel details a peaceful alien invasion by Overlords whose arrival begins decades of utopia. Aliens rule. But in turn for the beauty of a peaceful world, the identity and culture of humans vanishes.

One of the reasons that the book is called CHILDHOOD'S END, during the 'last generation' phase of the invasion of peaceful extraterrestrials, children display kinetic powers and serve the overlords. No more children eventually are born. Parents kill themselves or die in a twisted and horrific end--dead in peace and disturbed by the lack of life and meaning. Without giving much away from the book, the end is quite unbearable for humanity..

SYFY is bringing Clarke's nightmarish vision of peace to television--the trailer looks quite good, actually.

The December SYFY program will be a three night event. We can watch the beginning of the end and the end of the end in just three fine Christmas season nights than to the makers of the series.

This looks good. I am going to keep it on my radar for the next few months and figure out just how watchable this may be.

The trailer looked quite interesting. Certainly the concept Clarke had was--and I hope that SYFY doesn't take too many creative liberties and sticks to the script as developed in 1953. Because with science fiction, the deep life lessons don't change no matter what year it is.
