Good morning! Did you remember to set your clocks forward one hour for daylight savings time?
The concept was first proposed in 1895 by George Hudson of New Zealand, but the first widespread implementation of the adjustment wasn’t until 1916 when Germany and Austria-Hungary used daylight savings time as a way to conserve coal during wartime. Britain, Russia, and the United States followed the practice, implementing it over the next two years.
After the war, however, many countries discarded the idea of daylight savings time until it was picked up again during World War II. Some countries adopted it later to help alleviate the 1970s energy crisis.
There has been research on the benefits and drawbacks of the time change, including energy use, economic effects, public safety, and health benefits. Not everyone was in favor, seen here in this cartoon depicting opposition to daylight savings time by Clifford K. Berryman.
The cartoon shown in this is ‘opposition to Daylight Savings’ from 1922 .. And the hard core feelings revolving around the issue have not gone away..
This morning, like you most likely, I woke up trying to figure out which clock was accurate and hoping that I would be able to find the universal clock online just to make sure all was well..
It is confusing.
But my vote is actually IN FAVOR of clock changes twice a year. It feels like the clocks move us as much as we move them.. it feels like they can generate spring time energy when we have light longer.. and as we should hibernate when we decide to fall back.. COUNTING CROWS sing about it..
Close call at another Trump rally in Ohio a day after Chicago madness .. This time Trump was warned before the cops saw.. Fast action took place and stopped the person attempting to run at Trump..
I have given up on politics lately. I am paying attention.. watching debates.. but I have chosen to eliminate my voice from the jungle of beliefs.. They don’t matter. I once believed in causes too and had a pointless point of view.
But events lately have caused concern for me.. I am seeing a nation boiling over in anger. From the Trump rallies to now the Trump protests.. to online forums and comment threads.
We sure have become an angry place haven’t we? A mightily divided nation hurling insults from the safety of keyboards..
I don’t have a crystal ball to predict how all of this will end up. But I can say the heat is just turning on.. the summer of hate did not even begin yet. This is going to be a long year.
No other words to describe this article appearing in the NEW YORK DAILY News besides ‘high strangeness’ .. Friends say that Richard Simmons, the exercising maven of the 20th century, has vanished into himself.. into his mind.. into his home. Madness has taken over. He has cut off contact with close associates and some haven’t seen or talked to him in two years. They are also blaming his long time housekeeper.. from the DAILY NEWS long diatribe:
Oliveira presents the most solid evidence of Simmons’ mental and emotional state, because his access to the mansion was more recent than others’. But even he has been left with a dearth of concrete, up-to-date information, leaving friends to concoct theories, some more outlandish than others.
“I think tormented is the best word to describe his mental state,” Oliveira says. “I think it was (caused by) black magic, witchcraft. That’s not close to your culture, but to my culture in Brazil, and to Mexicans” — Teresa Reveles is from Mexico — “that is a real thing. They invoke the spirits. They light black candles, and red and blue candles. I’ve never participated. I only saw from a distance. But at services, they do special meals. They offer meals to the bad spirits, and light candles, invoking with words.”
MY NIGHTMARE. It began a week ago. I got sick—selfishness took over and I requested leave time from my fatherly duties. My wife luckily allowed me to get a full day of sleep. Then the next day when my son, Ayden, went to school and her to work, I stayed home. And slept again.. Whatever this bug was took the life out of me..
My son was the next in the house to get it. Over the past 72 hours, we have gone through a series of traumas related to it.
Sickness is normal, and common. Fevers happen. But Ayden’s fever spiked several times to 105. At one point he was going up. We made the typical frantic night time calls to nurses on duty. We did the Motrin/Tylenol routine—which worked actually when we needed it to. We avoided the cold water however, as the body temperature dives quickly the fever spikes higher and just as bad immediately after the submerged body leaves the cold water.
It was the OTHER events that caused serious concerns. And a trip to the ER as a precaution.
WORLDS COLLIDING.
At this website, you’ll find a strange variety of paranormal and strange news.. mixed in some personal ramblings and a political opinion here and there. They all say blogs are dead. I suppose I’m one of the walking dead since I’m still writing. Nonetheless, I pride myself on the content provided. I hope you, the reader agrees. I digress..
For as long as I have been here I have been writing about sleep paralysis. When THE NIGHTMARE was released I praised it highly. I wrote about the subject matter a few more times.
This week, when my 5-year-old Ayden was sick, there were scenes seemingly torn from the pages of the playbook of THE NIGHTMARE.
Ayden had three (bad things come in threes, right?) extremely awful and terrifying sleep issues. My wife and I initially thought it was a reaction to medicine. The doctors seem to think it was due to the stress on the body and the abnormally high fever for his age that this viral infection caused (it was not the flu or anything else they could pinpoint) ..
During all three separate times, Ayden’s face locked in a fear position. His mouth widely opened as did his eyes. He was sleeping next to me during two of the occasions. Oddly I woke up at the same time he did. I looked at him thinking he was awake, but he could not move. His eyes were rapidly looking around the room, his legs twitching, and his fingers somewhat moving. He was stuck. While I feared a fever related seizure could have been occurring, my wife and I dismissed it as there were no signs of it. We made him sit up. And even though he caused his movement, he stayed stuck in a dream.
The dreams or whatever world he was glued within caused him to say some wild statements. Such as “Daddy stop moving the TV.” Or “I am getting too small!” These statements may sound ludicrous and humorous to a non parent, but picture your innocent child screaming these things out in shear panic and fear, unable to move his body and even break from the nightmare he was within.
The third time it happened, we were already prepared for a doctor visit but we wanted him to nap beforehand. The nap ended with the worst of the sleep issues of the week. He could not break from the nightmare. He screamed at his mom and me: “I’m mad!” while he tried to weep but could not even find the strength to cry. We quickly dressed him and got him to see someone. All the while during a 20 minute drive, he stared at me from his car seat in some form of rage. A look I never saw before—and one that was not him. I don’t think it was. I think for the duration of that drive he was still stuck in a nightmare….
RELIEF
I don’t “knock on wood” for luck. But as I write this I am knocking on wood just in case the old adage has any merit. Ayden’s fever has gone down as I write this. He slept the night with only one moment of waking up to use the bathroom. And he seems better. He seems to be coming back to this world again.
I hope it continues. If you, reading this, have sick kids, we as parents all know the normal drills and how fearful fevers can get. Yes they are a sign of the immune system reacting as normal. However, that system response can certainly freak you at at 3am, the witching hour, when a temperature skyrockets to 106.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE
It’s the modern age. One of the first things I did yesterday after the situation began to calm a bit, was go to Facebook and ask friends if they have experienced any of these issues. Not sleep paralysis of the adult kind, but the toddler version. I got an overwhelming response with a number of people relating frightening sickness related terrors that their children experienced. One person I know told me her son gets it on a regular basis. My other brother reminded me that my nephew got it severely when he was a child. At one point about 15 years ago, my nephew got it so bad during a fever that he was stuck in a dream for an hour screaming wildly and having trouble breathing until my sister showed up—he was requesting my sister’s presence during his terror.
I am not alone. If it is happening to you, you are not alone. I also found a number of forums of people naming their experiences. Heck, I even found people posting video of their children experiencing it on Youtube—something that seems dreadfully tacky though exceptionally accepted in the modern age.
FINAL MESSAGE
During the quiet moments of desperation, your body forgets to do certain things and also remembers to do others. For example, between my being sick and my sick being sick, I lost an incredible 10 pounds this week . While I wanted to lose weight, it wasn’t the way I envisioned. Though now in an ironic twist, as I woke up this morning, I am at the desired weight that My Fitness Pal told me I’d safely be at by May. Nonetheless, while I forgot to eat, I also remembered to pray. Pray to whoever listens.. family? Friends? Grandparents? Mother in law? God himself. I hit them ‘all’ up for some help.
The day was a mighty beautiful day yesterday. Too beautiful to spend a day in the ER though we were there. I took a brief talk to the cafeteria and got to a window, and snapped a photo of the scene.
Later in the night, a voice told me to go back and look at the photo again. So I did. And as I inspected it I saw an orb in the bottom center.
A point to mention: I rarely believe in orbs. I think they are dust, glare, or just passing moments of errors on the camera phone. However, in this situation, I will just think of that orb as a little hello from the series of prayers I let loose at the window as I was staring at the early spring sun.
Scientists in Chile have figured out a way to resurrect the prehistoric traits of dinosaurs.
In a ‘reverse evolution’ experiment, a researcher has manipulated the genes of modern chickens to induce the legs of a dinosaur.
These ancestors of birds once had a tube-shaped fibula that stretched down to the ankle. Through evolution, this transformed to become the short, splinter-like fibula of birds today.
Jurassic park version of the other white meat.. Wait until your future wing night when all you can eat will be just one. Big. Massive. Dino-leg.
We are just about at another anniversary of the giant Japan quake and tsunami and nuclear disaster at Fukushima.. While the world pays little attention to the long term effects of radiation Greenpeace did. And the report is startling.
Greenpeace warns against the government’s decision to lift a number of evacuation orders around the Fukushima plant by March 2017. The NGO says the International Atomic Energy Agency and the government are operating under “deeply flawed assumptions” when it comes to decontamination and ecosystem risks.
I even am going to take this to heart.. over the past few months I have noticed that, while my productivity has increased, my errors have as well. I think that can go for anyone in this age of constant devices zapping brains and attention spans.
And the cognitive costs get worse. If you’re a multitasker, you might have done some serious permanent damage, as a study that ran MRI scans on the brains of multitaskers found they had less brain density in areas that controlled empathy and emotions.
And how to beat the problem?
“High-quality work produced is a function of two things—the amount of time you spend on the work and the intensity of your focus during this time,” said Newport. “If you can increase your focus, you’ll get more done in less time.”
So, unless you’re just way ahead of the curve and can afford your brain performing at a much lower level, then you’re going to have to stop multitasking if you want to beat the competition.
Basically retrain your mind. If you are writing a long memo at work, for example, put your phone away and close your email. Focus on it.. no distractions.. close your door if you have to. Turn off the radio. If you want to clean your email inbox? Same theory.. focus on that on nothing else. Don’t allow the world around you to dictate what you are going to do.
Multitaskers have an edge over competition. For a while. Until the errors start getting noticed.
.. a major step back in time.. a really huge galaxy formed only 200 or 300 million years after the supposed big bang?
“Our spectroscopic observations reveal the galaxy to be even further away than we had originally thought, right at the distance limit of what Hubble can observe,” Gabriel Brammer of the Space Telescope Science Institute and second author of the study said.
Previously, to estimate GN-z11’s distance astronomers had to analyze its color in images taken with both Hubble and the NASA Spitzer Space Telescope. Now the team has used Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3).
GN-z11’s distance has a redshift of 11.1, which corresponds to 400 million years after the Big Bang, a distance that was believed only to be reachable with the next generation NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Until now, the most distant measured galaxy was EGSY8p7 with a redshift of 8.68, located 13.2 billion years in the past.
And this from observation:
“It’s amazing that a galaxy so massive existed only 200 million to 300 million years after the very first stars started to form. It takes really fast growth, producing stars at a huge rate, to have formed a galaxy that is a billion solar masses so soon,” explains Garth Illingworth of the University of California in Santa Cruz.
PLAYBOY is saying that it’s non nude issue is working.. Advertisers like it. And it’s available on a lot more newsstands than the nude version of the magazine. Sex sells. But perhaps dignity sells more?
No opinions to render but the scientific information presented in this UK paper’s report is a little more than interesting..
The scientist described seeing the behaviour through cameras that were set up to watch the chimpanzees. They saw them assembling piles of stones — of a similar kind of the ritual cairns that have been found throughout human history.
Chimpanzees and other apes have long been known to use stones and other materials as tools, including their use as nutcrackers to get into food that is cased in a hard shell. But the new behaviour doesn’t seem to have the same functional purpose.
Fresh food is filling landfills. Food statistics can have a way of zeroing in on our collective eating Zeitgeist with uncomfortable data points. For example, U.S. consumers waste up to 50 percent more food than Americans did in the 1970s, according to National Institutes of Health.
Something seems particularly insane about all of this..
CONSPIRACY theorists are stocking up on food supplies amid fears the world could end in just FOUR days when a total eclipse of the sun, super full moon and staggeringly close asteroid pass of earth are set to happen within 24 hours.
After all.. What’s a calendar year without a good end of the world fear?
Tell me again, how does NASA not know how close the asteroid will fly by but yet have confidence that all is well? Just wondering..
A few websites I visit began reporting on the carbon spike a few days ago.. While alarmed I also assumed it was in relation to the major gas leak.. At this time, officials of the highest degree are saying not to fear …
For millennia, one of the world’s leading causes of death was infection. The body’s natural counter to infection includes a number of genetic mutations that rachet up the immune system. Researchers now know that one of those altered genes, known as NPY, is linked to major depression.
Why would the body need to leverage depression to fight off infection? In a 2012 study, Raison and Miller contended that symptoms of depression such as social withdrawal and apathy played to the advantage of ancient humans for two important reasons: Keeping still helped their bodies fight infection, and social isolation helped prevent the spread of contagious germs.
The mysteries of the brain and why we be come depressed.. So much more revolutionary medicine and studying to come ..
Benchoff suspects it may be tied to Google Project Skybender to bring internet by drone, while others suspect Google Project Loon and other experiments in bringing internet access worldwide. The InfoWars crowd will probably suspect mind control, especially with HAARP under utilized now. My guess? Aliens. The nearby spaceport provides a perfect landing spot, and our overlords know New Mexico by well know, having crashed so many flying saucers there.
That Infowars crowd that gets mocked often is also often right.. And making light of Google doesn’t eliminate the notions that regardless of how amazing how lives are because of the company, they also do creepy things. And something creepy and amazing is in the offing..
In a publication released last week, Google asked the FCC to treat some information relating to radio experiments as confidential. These experiments involve highly directional and therefore high power transmissions at 2.5 GHz, 5.8GHz, 24GHz, 71-76GHz, and 81-86GHz. These experiments will take place at Spaceport America, a 12,000 foot runway in the middle of New Mexico occasionally used by SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, and now Google.
For the most part, this document only tells the FCC that Google won’t be causing harmful interference in their radio experiments. There few other details, save for what bands and transmitters Google will be using and an experimental radio license call sign (WI9XZE) that doesn’t show up in the FCC database.
While it all sounds so juicy and conspiratorial, this may simply be a planned future venture to bring faster internet to all. Of course there is still the chance Google will suck the souls out of our eyeballs and make swine eat them. Or something like that.
Tonight there was a brief snippet on some news station my wife was watching about the strange noises in the sky (or ground) in Oregon as of late. If you haven’t heard or have been under a sheltered rock, Oregon is not the first place where these noises have happened. But somehow, this Oregon screeching noise has caught on more than others..
While the news was playing the noises tonight, it caught the attention of my 5-year-old Ayden. He initially held his ears, cupping his hands on them to avoid the screeching sound.. as the news story continued, Ayden wanted to know more. After it was over–and no answer found–Ayden asked to hear the sound again. And again.. and again. He was fascinated by it. So we YouTubed some videos and found some, at least a few that weren’t frightening and didn’t portray the sound as an end of the world noise.
I was fascinated at his fascination. But I also think anyone who hears the noises and experiences them–as I did recently–are curious to their core about the source and reason they are sounding across the planet. Who wouldn’t be.
Last night Clyde Lewis presented a good Ground Zero about these noises.
Tonight Linda Howe will be on Coast to Coast AM.
The world is starting to wake up to the sound of the static noise.. a noise that has an unclear source an apparently no explanation…as the trumpets sound.
Five years ago tonight Ayden Morris was in an incubator and my wife and I were awaiting the joys of parenting. And they have been joys. And fast times on the planet earth.. 5 years gone too fast and a growing boy becoming more amazing by the day.
Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Winston made landfall in Fiji on Saturday, killing at least six people and destroying hundreds of homes. Strong winds and flooding from Winston have caused severe damage across the island nation, which is under curfew until 5:30 a.m. Monday. A month long state of disaster has also been declared.
A 14-year-old girl is the seventh person to die after a series of shootings in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area.
Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas says the teenager was one of five people fatally shot in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
Matyas corrected earlier information released by authorities that the girl was nine years old.

“We seem to be dealing with a worst-case scenario, someone driving around shooting,” Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas told NBC News after the shootings. At least three people were wounded in the attacks.
The Kalamazoo Public Safety Department said a suspect fitting the description of the gunman had been apprehended without incident, citing Chief Jeff Hadley.
There are a few reasons you should read Lee Speigel on a regular basis on the HUFFINGTON POST.. tonight I read an article solidifying my personal reasons to read his content.
Get this: Astronauts heard music on the far side of the moon during a mission in 1969 .. they were shocked, surprised, confused.. and they did not know if they should ever even have said anything.
The taped recordings contained “strange, otherworldly music coming through the Apollo module’s radio,” according to the upcoming Science Channel series, “NASA’s Unexplained Files.”
The unexplained “music” transmission lasted almost an hour, and just before the astronauts regained radio contact with Earth, they discussed whether or not to tell Mission Control what they had experienced
This text showcasing what the astronauts were actually saying as they pondered the source of the music and whether or not to tell Mission Control:
“It sounds like, you know, outer space-type music.”
“You hear that? That whistling sound? Whooooooooo!”
“Well, that sure is weird music!”
“It’s unbelievable! You know?”
“Shall we tell them about it?”
“I don’t know. We ought to think about it.”
There very well could be a scientific meaning to this.. A reason for the sounds.. perhaps even a distant playing of Pink Floyd from some aliens that … wait.. they didn’t write that album yet in 1969. Well.. then.. time travel! that’s it! Time travel…
Look, none of us really know what this source could have been.. what the music may have meant .. perhaps gravity? Something..
I know this: It’s amazing and thought provoking. And I love to have thoughts provoked..
And I can only imagine.. wait I actually cannot imagine.. what it would have been like to hear faint and distant sounds on the ………..dark side of the moon.
“We decided to suspend the use of the product [Pyriproxyfen] in human consumption water until we get a position in the Ministry of Health and because of that we strengthen the appeal to the population to eliminate any possible breeding ground of the mosquito,” said Gabbardo said…
There are a large number of people who believe that Zika is being blamed too quickly..
Is “The Witch,” under the surface, a story about sexual abuse, and about the vicious combination of guilt and jealousy that can poison relationships between mother and daughter, or between sisters? That’s certainly one way to read it. Is it, on a grander scale, an allegorical tale about religious hysteria and paranoid delusion, and even about the current of self-hatred and self-destructiveness that lies at the heart of the American experience? I would strongly argue for yes. But those aren’t mutually exclusive options — and it’s also a story about a well-meaning American family confronted by evil.
There is a witch in the woods, after all. We see her sneaking away with infant Sam, the unbaptized babe so crucial to certain diabolical rituals. Later in the film, we see her lure Caleb (Harvey Scrimshaw), Thomasin’s slightly younger brother, into her lair with a display of legs and cleavage entirely without precedent in 17th-century America. Is it relevant that we have already seen Caleb, a devout and loyal son, eyeing his sister’s body with the first stirrings of prurient interest? It might be. I’m sure someone will write a piece this week suggesting that Eggers is playing into misogynistic stereotype by implying that there may really have been child-killing witches in the New England woods, who could fly and who engaged in unorthodox sexual practices and who had signed their names in blood in the Black Book.
Those pages detail the nation that that aided the hijackers… Some have seen, a few. But you haven’t. Or me. Trump says he’ll show us. And he thinks it implicates the Saudis…
Evidence supplied from the latest computer model runs of a storm coming next week showcases that.. BUT… The confidence level of a cold storm is low.. there is so much uncertainty about this. It could be rain. Ice. Mix. Snow. All of the above.. And all for a long duration–if this is all snow get ready for more than 1 foot. If it’s a mix, get ready for one of the sloppiest segways into March winter can provide..
McDonald’s Corp. franchisees remained pessimistic about the company’s turnaround efforts during the much-hyped rollout of all-day breakfast, according to an internal survey. ..
Breakfast all day isn’t helping.
And speaking of breakfast all day, they don’t do egg-white sandwiches, so I hear. Maybe that has hurt too.
OR .. the turn to more healthy food in America would have gone wild on their profits and futures..?
In other Pope news, he said that Donald Trump was not really a Christian. Trump fired back that when ISIS attacks the Vatican, the Pope will wish he would have prayed that the Donald would have been President.
Two Franciscana dolphins were ripped from the waves near an Argentinan resort last week, then manhandled to shore, where they were passed around a clutching mob seeking cute selfie moments. In the process, at least one of the intelligent, playful cetaceans died from the experience. Franciscana, or La Plata, dolphins are unable to spend as long out of the water as their larger brethren.
“At least one of these dolphins suffered a horrific, traumatic and utterly unnecessary death, for the sake of a few photographs,” a spokesperson from the World Animal Protection group told ABC in Australia, condemning the despicable incident. “This terribly unfortunate event is an example of the casual cruelty people can inflict when they use animals for entertainment purposes.”
And then get this:
After being pet and pawed at by dozens of people, one of the small creatures was found discarded on the beach, its usefulness as a social-media prop at an end. It was left coated in sand and soon died slowly of dehydration..
There were a few people still snapping some last minute photos as the creature lay gasping for its last bits if air before death.
There are a number of societal issues within this article.. commentary on our culture can be made as well.
Feel free to make those.. And the next time you see a life form of any kind gasping for air and grasping for life, perhaps you should intervene before the selfie shot is taken..
The ranch owner, John Poindexter, tried to clarify his comments, telling “CBS This Morning” that Scalia “had a pillow over his head, not over his face as some have been saying. The pillow was against the headboard.” Judge Cinderela Guevara said investigators found no signs of foul play or struggle. She added Scalia’s personal physician believed “the death was due to natural causes.” William Ritchie, the former homicide commander of D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department, said an autopsy would put all these questions to rest. “If you’re called to the scene to investigate a death, you will assume that death is a homicide until your investigation proves otherwise,” Ritchie said. “If the death scene was handled in an appropriate manner, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.”
Photographs which have never been seen before by the public reveal Karol Wojtyla at his most relaxed. He invited Ms Tymieniecka to join him on country walks and skiing holidays - she even joined him on a group camping trip. The pictures also show her visiting him at the Vatican. “Here is one of the handful of transcendentally great figures in public life in the 20th Century, the head of the Catholic Church, in an intense relationship with an attractive woman,” says Eamon Duffy, Professor of the History of Christianity at Cambridge University.
There are no present allegations or evidence revealed showcasing the relationship became romantic.. But it sure has some wondering if the Polish pontiff desired. A game changing set of correspondence? Or swept under a Vatican rug? The world knows now a bit more than it ever did about Pope John Paul II.
A fascinating battle developing in the tech world and that of justice ..
Apple CEO Tim Cook said late Tuesday that the company would oppose the ruling. In a message to customers published on Apple’s website, he said: “We can find no precedent for an American company being forced to expose its customers to a greater risk of attack. For years, cryptologists and national security experts have been warning against weakening encryption. Doing so would hurt only the well-meaning and law-abiding citizens who rely on companies like Apple to protect their data.”
Two days after Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died suddenly in remote West Texas, a former D.C. homicide commander is raising questions about how the death was handled by local and federal authorities.
“As a former homicide commander, I am stunned that no autopsy was ordered for Justice Scalia,” William O. Ritchie, former head of criminal investigations for D.C. police, wrote in a post on Facebook on Sunday.
This reporting from the Washington POST–which incidentally is the newspaper of record that sort of started the ball of conspiracy theories rolling.
Yesterday I posted a few snippets of the Washington POST article of how a conclusion was made that Justice Scalia had a heart attack without an autopsy.. Today another article is upping the ante on strange activity.. Again, I am not placing conspiracy into your head.. I am simply mind-boggled as to why a high justice dies after reports of a relatively healthy day previous and yet no one is concerned that ‘heart attack’ is placed on the death certificate without ANY medical evaluations to say so..
I think this entire situation is being overplayed in some ways by worldwide media.. and the WHO. But “who” am I?
It is also of extreme importance for one other reason: The Olympics. As a matter of fact, just yesterday, Brazil’s president said that the summer games will go on as planned. Perhaps this issue explains the sudden emergence of 200,000 troops nationwide.
The man known for his elegant legal opinions and profound intellect was found dead in his room at a hunting resort, either by a housekeeper or the ranch owner, according to conflicting accounts.
It then took hours for authorities in remote West Texas to find a justice of the peace, officials said Sunday. When they did, she pronounced Scalia dead of natural causes without seeing the body and decided not to order an autopsy. A second justice of the peace, who was called but couldn’t get to Scalia’s body in time, said she would have ordered an autopsy.
More:
“If it had been me . . . I would want to know,” Juanita Bishop, a justice of the peace in Presidio, Tex., told The Washington Post in an interview Sunday about the chaotic hours after Scalia’s death at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a luxury compound less than an hour from the Mexican border and about 40 miles south of Marfa.
The U.S. Marshals Service has not issued a statement about the events surrounding Scalia’s death Saturday. And as official Washington tried to process what the justice’s death means for politics and the law, some details of his final hours remained opaque.
No autopsy? Quick embalming?
As late as Sunday afternoon, there were conflicting reports about whether an autopsy would be performed, though officials later said Scalia’s body was being embalmed and there would be no autopsy. One report, by WFAA-TV in Dallas, said the death certificate would show the cause of the death was a heart attack.
More information on his death:
Scalia did not appear for breakfast with others from the party, officials said; people at first thought he might be sleeping in, but they eventually grew concerned. A housekeeper found the body, according to Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara; other witnesses said the housekeeper opened Scalia’s door at the request of the ranch owner.
After emergency personnel and officials from the U.S. Marshals Service were called to the scene, two local judges who also serve as justices of the peace were called, Guevara said in an interview Sunday. Both were out of town, she said — not unusual in a remote region where municipalities are spread far apart.
Guevara also was out of town, but she said she declared Scalia dead based on information provided by officials at the scene, citing Texas laws that allow a justice of the peace to declare someone dead without seeing the body.
And finally this conclusion after all of the intrigue in high places.
“An autopsy was declined at about 3:30 a.m.,” Lujan said. “The justice of the peace said there was no indication of foul play and that he died in his sleep from natural causes.”
The authors said the findings show that disease from air and household pollution ranks as the number two cause of death worldwide. It comes in right behind smoking, which the World Health Organization says kills 6 million people annually. The research, part of an initiative to monitor the global burden of disease, is being presented at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington.
Nonetheless, the video with this post is extra interesting: It’s the sound of two black wholes, 1.3 billion with a B years ago, combining into one super black hole. The sound is beautiful and amazing. The sound is our distant past.. Purely amazing./\
It was on Ellen. It was weird..And it went like this:
Fox was discussing how 30 – a milestone birthday – always seemed to be so “old” when she was younger.
Ellen, jumping in the conversation, agreed. The talk show host volunteered that when she was younger, “I would think somebody 50, 60 years old was, you know, just like…”
And then came Fox’s zinger. “In a hospice?” the young actress rushed to finish Ellen’s sentence for her, perhaps not realizing that DeGeneres is 58.
Awkward.
“I’m just saying!” Fox added, trying to recover. “When you’re young, that’s what you think.”
DeGeneres, pro that she is, defused things with,“I wouldn’t go that far, but certainly close to going to a hospice, yes.”
Thankfully ELLEN herself was on stage. The consummate professional allowed the program to flow. Even though this would have been a blockage of epic proportions in a plumbing world.
Many of the 5,000 missing refugee and migrant children in German will have been forced into prostitution or harvested for their organs, according to the leader of the country’s Muslim council.
Aiman Mazyek, the chairman of the Central Council of German Muslims, said that immediate changes need to be made to the asylum system to protect children and young people.
He demanded to know why Europeans were not speaking out in defence of the missing children.
AND THIS:
Europol, the European police agency, had previously said that at least 10,000 unaccompanied refugee children had gone missing in Europe in the past 24 months.
Suffer the children. As always.. the most victimized by adults. All of the time.

And what says love better than pink and white cow sculptures.
A little ghost story–one that hits a bit closer to home than anything else I have written.
Tonight, my wife and I took my son Ayden to a birthday party for a classmate at the Ashland Pennsylvania ELKS–sorry for the bad press (or good depending on your point of view) I am giving them on this matter..
The party was fine. It took place in the basement level bowling alley. Kids had a blast.. the cake was fine. And the pizza was as it should be.
There was one moment, though.. One strange event.
You see, the bathroom in the basement is unisex. So both genders shared their turns using it.. At one point, my son wanted to wash his hands. We made him wait because all three of us heard people in there. We figured it would be proper and kind to allow them to finish their business before barging in.
The seconds turned into minutes.. no one was coming out. So I decided to go in.. No one.. no one was there. Not a soul.
The bathroom was empty and quiet. The voices we heard and shadows we saw–all there of us–were gone. Instead remaining were just two urinals and a toilet.
My son had the most amazing reaction of all. He immediately said “we just saw a ghost!” Almost excitedly as a matter of fact.
My wife and I were left pondering a few things. We attempted scientific logic. We tried making excuses for the voices we heard. We wanted to explain the shadows. And funny, both my wife and I independently agreed: We heard and saw three people. We just both agreed on that. Three people.
This is not the first time something unexplained happened to us. I saw things before. I think we all have. We just need to take a step back and consider the times we do. But the funny thing is the acceptance my son had to the entire episode. He sort of, well, just figured he took part in some paranormal event. And does not even know why..
And perhaps that memory will stick. The shadows at the Elks. Almost the same as it was for my at the age of 5 seeing people in the choir of the former St. Ignatius in Centralia, along with hearing whispers come from the confessional ni the church at night.
But Ayden was fine with it all….He went on with life and ate cake, enjoyed bowling, and had a blast.
I did a few Google searches tonight. Nothing found. I did locate a few strange sites about ghosts of Ashland, PA.. but nothing specific about this location.
We do know what we saw. We agree on what we saw. And heard. Shadows along the wall.. voices echoing in the room. No one there and not a trace of humans within.
It was an interesting moment.
And quite possibly my son’s first paranormal event..
“Let me just tell you this: Jeb is so wrong. Jeb is absolutely so — ah,” Trump began.
A chorus of booed in the audience interrupted Trump, who then suggested that the crowd was stacked with pro-Bush elites in the GOP establishment.
“Just so you understand: You know who that is? That’s Jeb’s special interests and lobbyists talking,” Trump continued.
Trump took another shot at the audience shortly after. The crowd loudly booed Trump when he mocked Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), for having “0%” in the polls before dropping out of the presidential race and endorsing Bush.
“I only tell the truth, lobbyists,” Trump told the people booing him. “We’ve spent $5 trillion all over the Middle East. We have to rebuild our country.”
I am watching the GOP debate.. and all of the sudden I see a news alert of a major quake in New Zealand!! WITH a cliff collapsing near Christchurch.. could it have been Bush vs Trump?!
Several people have been injured and a cliff has collapsed into the sea on New Zealand’s South Island after a “severe” magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck close to Christchurch, which is still rebuilding following a devastating tremor in 2011.
The earthquake hit shortly after 1pm (11am AEDT) on Sunday, according to GeoNet, which monitors seismic activity in New Zealand.
It was centred 15km east of Christchurch and was 31km deep.
Paramedics were responding to a number of calls from people who fell over during the tremor. One building in the city was evacuated after items tumbled down and computer monitors smashed.
The shaking also dislodged part of a cliff in Taylor’s Mistake, to the south-east of the city centre. The dramatic moment was captured by Thomas Wieberneit, who posted it on Twitter.
