NYT: After four days of reticence and evasive answers, the Malaysian military acknowledged on Wednesday that it had recorded, but initially ignored, radar signals that could have prompted a mission to intercept and track a missing jetliner — data that vastly expands the area where the plane might have traveled.

I offer it up to argue the case that this could have been what happened to flight 370—could have.
So far, anyone I spoke of this theory to laughed at me to my face..
I don’t think it’s a tin foil hat concept like others think..

I thought about the show LOST almost immediately when flight 370 couldn’t be found.. Now others are too.
There are some wild theories for sure.
But reality is stranger than fiction, so how crazy is it really?

A work related conference has forced me to have to travel for two nights to an undesirable location somewhere in Pennsylvania, I’ll keep that location private for the sake of embarrassing the city.
Last night my car had to go into the shop for a smell coming from the tires, it turned out to be all four brakes and rotors. The car was unsafe to drive.
So my wife and I had a chaotic moment of trying to work out things, and we came to a conclusion that I would take her car and she would work her schedule to get mine from the shop.
On my way to the undisclosed location for my conference, the low tire pressure light came on indicating a malfunction in my wife’s Jeep.
An hour later, a Fornea half-inch nail was taken from the tire, it was patched, and I was on my merry way to 60 hours of boredom.
I thought to myself, God is just like George Carlin. But then I remember the George Carlin didn’t believe in God, making my comparison incorrect.
But I thought to myself, for all the chaos and heartache vehicles cause, especially when you rely on them to get you somewhere that you’re mandated to go, it’s like God has a sick and twisted mentality and tries to mess with us. Or if you look at the glass half full concept, the car breaks down before you drive it to your location thus saving you much more misery and potentially dangerous suffering if something dramatic happened to the car while you try.
And that is the story of my morning glory.

This is weird.
Clyde Lewis last night presented the topic of the missing airliner on his radio program. He is open to the possibility of a near earth object slamming and destroying the jet. He even has a pilot call him last night telling him how many more pilots are seeing meteors high in the sky near flight paths.
It is interesting that no major media source offers up this idea as a possibility .. Instead everyone jumped on the terrorism angle and played up the Iranians who boarded ..
Maybe we need to change our mentality .. If you haven’t noticed lately, there’s been a ton more fireballs in the sky and meteors coming within the distance of the earth to the moon..
As this jet continues to be missing.

CNN goes on to report this in its latest dispatch:

"This kind of deviation in course is simply inexplicable," said Paul Goelz, former managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board.
However, veteran pilot Kit Darby, president of Aviation Information Resources, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that mechanical problems could still explain everything: A power failure would have turned off the main transponder and its backup, and the plane could have flown for more than an hour, he said.
According to the Malaysian Air Force official, who declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media, the plane’s transponder apparently stopped working at about the time flight controllers lost contact with it, near the coast of Vietnam.

Lots of earthquakes are rattling earth just in time for the anniversary of the big Japan quake.. in just the past day a strong 6.9 hit Northern California, a 5.8 rattled Southern Mexico
..and this: Three earthquakes shook Ohio and were felt in Pennsylvania Monday.. .. Some in Ohio called 911 fearing that the earthquake was actually an intruder in their homes.. Marcellus Shale territory .. One result of the earthquakes: Ohio has halted gas drilling near Youngstown. Not that there’s any connection…………….

I am perplexed .. so many rumors abound about Flight 370. But the weirdest one of all: People are apparently calling the cell phones of the passengers from the apparently doomed plane. The phones are ringing.. no one is answering..
Why can’t we get a geo location on these before they go dead? The NSA can find anyone, right?

Reuters: Malaysia plane probe narrows on mid-air disintegration - source
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Officials investigating the disappearance of a Malaysian airliner with 239 people on board are narrowing the focus of their inquiries on the possibility that it disintegrated mid-flight
That would explain a few things—such as the lack of any contact informing control that there were problems with flight MH370..
This would also account for the fact that the plane appears to have gone missing..
The unnamed source told Reuters that it appears the plane disintegrated at around 35,000 feet.
A few scenarios now will be explored, surely.. such as a mechanical issue.. terrorism. Or try this: A meteor. Don’t laugh.
This morning, Clyde Lewis posted an old link of someone claiming that flight 800 was a victim of a meteor. Lately we’ve had quite a few meteors and near-earth asteroids.. What if…?
At this point anything is possible.
Another angle being investigated: Interpol probing MORE suspect passports from the missing flight..

Bus-sized asteroid third to miss hitting Earth in 48 hours
Keep this in mind Asteroid 2014 EC flew by Earth Wednesday. It was only discovered Tuesday—which would have given this planet little to no chance to do anything at all about it if it was going to hit.
I cannot understand this.. Asteroids seem to be the biggest story that should be focused on by any politician running for office. If a big one hit, it would have a massive impact without regard to national origin, religion, color, or creed.
But instead, stories of asteroids—and all of science—are regulated to the last bit on the local news. Right after sports. A “fun little story to end the night” accompanied by a joke about how the Earth had a ‘close shave’ .. I hate the term close shave.
How about this: News casters should lose the ‘close shave’ analogy and instead report it this way: “The world almost had a major city obliterated today” or “a world coastline almost was destroyed by a tsunami wave today.” Maybe that will get the attention necessary for this to matter.
Three in one week, and one discovered the day before the potential hit.

There is precedent for a jetliner going missing. But it's still weird.
How can a Boeing 777-200ER passenger jet go missing for more than a day? Turns out, it’s not so easy.
Interesting story..
This is a very troubling situation—and mysterious. A plane vanishing from radar and now, with stolen passports becoming an issue, the question is being asked: Accident or purposeful?
At one point, this whole story reminded me of the plot of LOST.
Albeit the story may have more of a closure than the show LOST did, it still remains bizarre that a plane could vanish from site..
There are oil slicks being studied—but oil without wreckage. Odd again.
Still watching as the story evolves.. But so far it’s been chilling.
There is precedent for a jetliner going missing. But it's still weird.
News reports say Vietnamese pilots have spotted 'rubbish' and oil in the ocean between Vietnam and Malaysia....but
VIETNAMESE AIRCRAFT HAVE SPOTTED LIQUID AND ‘RUBBISH’ ON THE SURFACE OF WATER OVERLAPPING MALAYSIA AND VIETNAM.. That report is appearing on CNN.
But at this point we only know this: The plane vanished from radar and all this time later, we still don’t know where it is or what happened to it.
There’s information countering the CNN report of liquid and rubbish. A very recent report from Malaysia airlines said that search and rescue teams have failed to find any evidence of a crashed plane..
I cannot fathom the horror and grief of knowing deep down what happened but still holding out hope that your loved ones made it..
This has been one of the weirdest 24 hours of news ever.. a plane vanishing for hours and now, after all this time, finally signs that the mystery may have a tragic end.
But the worst of all? Friday night LIGHTS OUT at the big cable networks..

I suppose we’re all still praying, or doing what we do spiritually, for those aboard MH370. But the signs are becoming evident that the souls on board this flight have gone on to another realm.. either through plane crash or some weird Twilight Zone version of reality.

The airline is holding a press conference in less than an hour.

This is just creepy.
As things would have it..
There are a events now and then in life that cause me to question reality, existence.. chance.. cause.. coincidence.. One such event took place today.
I was driving my son Ayden home from day care when I went around a sharp turn on the road, narrowly avoiding a giant rock that apparently became disconnected from its home at the top of the mountain. I saw the rock and had enough time to artfully dodge it..
The first thought I had as I drove on was that someone else would hit the rock—and quite possibly my wife driving home from work or someone else close to me. I decided to turn around.
After about another half mile, I found a safe place to turn.. Finally, arriving back at the rock, I pulled off the side of the road the best I could, knowing that I needed to be quick due to the speed of vehicles and the nature of the highway. As I got out of my car, the rock wasn’t just a rock; it was a boulder. Close up, I saw how enormous it actually was.
And just as quick as I stepped one foot out of my car, another car was heading dead straight for the boulder. It made contact.. both tires slammed over top of the of the piece of the mountain and the car did a 180 degrees spin before my eyes.
I moved the rock, which had to weight at least 60 pounds, to the side and then drove behind the person who hit the stone. She was safe, and the child in the back of her car was safe, but rattled by the bounce.. Before leaving the scene, I made certain that she had a ride and that she was fine. The car was not, though.. both tires were shredded.
So it brings up some questions in my mind.
First off.. if I would have decided to turn around a minute sooner, I may have arrived before she had the chance to made contact with the hazard, thus saving her the miserable Friday night mishap.. But as fate would have it, that didn’t occur.
The other thought was how set on turning around I was. How immense of an issue it was for me to do it.. I felt that if I did not go back and take that rock off the road, someone would be hurt, or worse. So the fact I witnessed someone do what I feared was a bit of a shock.
And finally, I wondered this: Did my turning around to go back set into motion the series of events that ruined this woman’s car, but perhaps saved the life of someone else?
I don’t know.
If the multiverse theory has any credence, an infinite amount of simultaneously happened. It just so came to be that I was in the universe where people were safe but tires were destroyed.
I just cannot shake the feeling that I need to go back.. almost that I knew something was going to happen. Or someone would be hurt.
So the fact I witnessed before my eyes the very event I had a premonition of really has my scratching my head.
Coincidence, you may say. And you may be right.
Maybe.
Apparently young conservative women love Rand Paul.

The forecasters who cried snow
Winter weary.. Weather changing. This weekend will be just fine, with clocks being set ahead and a taste of spring reportedly on the way.. What else could go wrong!? Winter is over, if you want it. OR.. not. For days now, the weather forums I frequent have been talking about an impressive and large storm coming around the middle of March. And just in time for that, models are now picking up a big event for next week.. However, we’ve recently been down this path. Just last week, forecasters were confident and scary by saying 20 inches or more of snow was set to fall on millions—so a grain of road salt may be in order watching this forecast evolve.
What models are showing, at this hour, is an impressive Nor’Easter like storm hitting the East Coast.
Other reputable weather forecasters don’t believe it..
So weather is like politics now. Take a side..
The models are running cold—which means that opposed to spring like Southern air dominating the storm, there will be an onset of cold Arctic air to turn precipitation frozen. If it happens.
If any of this happens.
As mentioned, there were frightening days leading up to the big storm that never was last week—bread and milk sold out for no reason.
But the trouble is, even if a storm was set to strike it’s like the forecaster who cried wolf!
The sky didn’t fall last week. Neither did snow.
So people may be hit hard and they won’t even have bread and milk to feast on..
We’ll be watching this one since we are in the target area for blizzard like conditions.

A friend of mine reminded me tonight some of the greatest and freakiest horror characters in history: The Gentlemen.
They starred in a BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER episode in 1999 before the turn of the century.
They were a group of demons that roamed from town to town and needed human hearts to stay alive.
I always wondered with Joss Whedon based the GENTLEMEN on.. Perhaps Slenderman? Maybe the men in black.. Not the Black Eyed Children, since the BEKs are more of a new found group of paranormal entities..

U.S. Moves Six Fighter Jets to Baltics, More Airmen to Poland
The U.S. military is increasing its presence in Poland and the Baltics in response to the crisis in Ukraine, officials said Wednesday….
So much for not ratcheting up tensions, I guess…
Russia firing off ICBMs.. The United States reestablishing its Cold War footing.
Secretary of Defense Hagel also said supplying additional arms to Ukraine would be a joint NATO or presidential decision.
But another bit of Russia related news making big news is the news business itself. The LA TIMES reports it this way:
An American journalist said she was quitting a Russian-backed TV station in an on-air protest Wednesday, telling viewers “I cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government, that whitewashes the actions of [President Vladimir] Putin.”
Her name is Liz Wahl. I’d imagine she is taking extra precautions since her decision and her video quitting has gone beyond viral ..
No word from RT on the Wahl decision. I am sure Vlad the Impaler will get over it.

Ok.. I get the first amendment.. I get it. But upskirt photos? I also get common sense. And I sense this is a bad decision..
Yeah, I know the law can be subtle, but if upskirt photos are legal, so is taking a photo of a woman’s cleavage or up her nose or of the contents of her pockets or handbag. To me, all of these things seem like they should be considered harassment, aka something illegal.
You have a point, this is a tough one.
I guess it comes down to what is ‘off limits’ when it comes to the public. In a sense, I’d say if you bare your breasts in public or allow cleavage to be shown, you’re aware that it’s in the public domain. But the hidden areas should not be in the public domain. Or the pubic domain…

This TV movie, WITHOUT WARNING, scared me to hell when I was 14 years old.
I re-watched again tonight for some reason after I read that an enormous asteroid was zipping between the earth and the moon tonight. As a matter of fact, the 100 feet wide asteroid will be closer than the moon.. Thankfully so, because 100 feet of an asteroid hitting this planet would be awful.
So…in the safety (for now) of your home, sit back, grab some popcorn, and watch the movie beamed from YouTube to your computer screen or smart phone… as the asteroid zips by the planet tonight.
The acting was bad in ‘94. But the story—and the chances of an impact without warning—never go away.

Putin Says No Immediate Need to Invade Eastern Ukraine, Leaves Threat Dangling
Vladimir Putin said he sees no immediate need to invade eastern Ukraine as the Obama administration prepares $1 billion in loan guarantees for the cash-strapped nation and threatens sanctions against Russia.
There is a temporary sigh of relief. Temporary.
The situation is still one in which anything can and may happen.

I listened to Clyde Lewis last night.. He titled his show "Foreign Horrorspondence" and focused on the newest world crisis in Crimea, Ukraine, and Russia. As usual, it wasn’t the typical approach you’d find from other sources.. Lewis detailed some old Nostradamus quatrains about the ‘ring of steel’ and the new world war coming after the games of slaughter. Lewis believed the games of slaughter were the 2008 Olympics—they began the same day that Russia invaded Georgia—and thinks we are heading towards a new world slaughter because of recent actions. While it wasn’t anything to do with ghosts and goblins, there show shook me.
I have always had a special place in my heart for Nostradamus, even though I believe much of the whole ‘prophecy’ business to be mostly nonsense. But something about a radio show host like Lewis bringing all of these strange facts together compels me to start believing..
If you haven’t noticed lately, it’s been feeling like ‘war’ for a while now across this planet.
And we begin there today..
Vladimir Putin is calling the actions in Ukraine a ‘coup’ ..
The nation of Ukraine is filled with a vast amount of religious people. In Crimea, one of those, a bishop, is urging calm. However, a Ukrainian Catholic leader says people must be ready to sacrifice lives..
While the nation of Russia is basically ignoring anything coming from the Obama Administration, the White House and the US continue to look at a ‘broad range of sanctions’ against Russia.. That may be difficult since the European Union relies heavily on natural gas coming from Russia. This could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back of the world economy. Some actually believe that, due to the crisis in Ukraine, a world economic crisis is brewing..
Russia and China are happily joining hands on the matter—which is bad news for the United States..
Timing is key, on all events.. including Crimea. While the world watches turmoil and conflict, the earth wanted to be heard, too. Either HAARP is operational again or natural events led to this, but Crimea had a 4.1 earthquake yesterday..
While Sarah Palin may not be the world’s finest expert on Russian affairs—thought she could see Russia from her house—she did have this snappy one liner about how the Obama Administration is dealing with Pootie Poot: " People are looking at Putin as one who wrestles bears and drills for oil. They look at our president as one who wears mom jeans and equivocates and bloviates"

America is getting so weird..
Sure, America worships celebrity.. but will we eat them? Serious.. A company named BiteLabs has a novel and disgusting idea: Growing meat from celebrity tissue samples. I suppose it’s the closest thing to cannibalism that can be sold legally. The product is salami. It will be 30% celebrity and 40% animal meat, the rest will be fats and spices. And you can enjoy a nice glass of Chianti with your cannibal celebrity sammich..

What a 1994 treaty may mean for 2014
There are multiple weather models showing the storm this weekend moving north.. and south.. and no where.. and here. And there. My area is bracing for 1 to 25 inches of snow. That’s an old joke, of course, but this go around it’s actually quite accurate. The weatherman knows a storm is brewing—they are getting better at timing—but they sure aren’t sure yet as to what path it takes…
The sun shines.. but so many nations see war planes on bright and blue days. I worry about war today.. This world has seen way too much of it in modern life. But so much more seems to be coming..
Some Saturday morning news to use or lose this bright and shiny sunny morning:
The world is watching—and some are holding collective breath—as Russia and Crimea continue to embroil themselves in an inevitable war.. A few days ago, theBBC ran a good article explaining what was so dangerous about the situation in Crimea..
The other facts as they are known at this hour. It may change by next hour:
Russia extends its reach in Crimea with calls for troops in Ukrainian region..
President Obama is warning Vladimir Putin that there will be ‘costs’ for Ukraine action..
But… Putin is holding the cards and dictating the timetable..
This is the dogs of war floating at sea.. WE should all be watching these provocations closely: Russia is seeking access in eight countries for its ships and bombers. There is already a mysterious ‘spy ship’ docked in Havana.. But now they also want to be set to fire in Cuba, Venezuela, Singapore.. and more..
As expected.. the United States is scrambling for intelligence on the developing crisis..
Some history: Crimea was a gift to Ukraine. It happened in 1954 and, in between Nikita Khruschchev famous using his shoes as weapons during speeches, he gifted the beautiful Crimea to Ukraine.. that was back in happier days when mother Russia claimed Ukraine for the Soviets..
There are also some other reports worth contemplating. Back in 1994, President Bill Clinton, John Major, Boris Yelstin, and Leonid Kuchma signed a treaty. That treaty, now it’s said, may actual embroil the United States and Britain into a war with Russia if Russia invades Ukraine!! The agreement signed back in the roaring 90s had world leaders vowing to protect Ukraine’s border. Things were happier then.
And lest we forget… a month ago media outlets quietly reported that Iran was sending warships close to the United States East Coast border..
So you see how this could could quickly get out of hand, right?

I have really never liked horror movies based on true stories.. they seem a little over the top, often. And in this matter, perhaps insensitive and tacky..Sony has just bought the rights to a horror movie based on the death of Elisa Lam in Los Angeles in 2013..
You may remember recent stories about Lam in the news. She was the student who was found dead in the water tank of then famed and cursed Cecil Hotel—for two weeks hotel visitors were complaining of a smell and taste in the water, later they found Lam’s body.
In recent months, a surveillance video from the elevator in the hotel was made famous because it seemed to show Lam acting odd moments before she supposedly entered the roof area and somehow got into a high and secured water tank..
The coroner ruled the death to be accidental.
Not an accident is SONY making profits off of the death of the innocent young woman.

Horror movie controversy in Australia.. two famed movie critics from down under refused to review a horror flick WOLF CREEK 2.. And now as a result, star from the movie John Jarratt took aim at the ‘elitist’ critics for their refusal to acknowledge the movie..
I am actually somewhat laughing at the image of the critics, Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton. Stratton looks identical to the man who does my taxes every year.. I hope I don’t take this movie review refusal out on him in 2015..
We're Fukushima-ed
Navy sailors suffering pain and ailments after Fukushima response..
But nothing to fear, Navy sailors.. Apparently smoking is worse than the radiation, so says a FORBES editorial about the disaster.. I am sure the author means well. Right? I’d be interesting how tied in with nuclear energy he is.. Nonetheless, the NOT DANGEROUS radiation will be making it to the West Coast by April.. Also the not dangerous scenario playing out at Fukushima is getting a little less dangerous as warnings sound that clean up pumps stopped working. Nothing to see here. The FORBES science author said so..
My favorite Facebook weather source, the Weatherboy Weather posted an “OMG” over top of today’s snowstorm forecast.. This is beginning to look like a long duration snow storm set to drop up to 20 inches or more in spots.. prepare now because by Monday all travel may be temporarily grounded.. The other concern may be ice if enough warmth spreads into the storm.. It’s a March storm after all—and March storms typically produce heavy snow. In like a lion.. a cold, cold lion in winter.
