Who is afraid of a potentially life ending asteroid on Halloween!?
Not us earthlings!

Costumes will still be donned.. makeup still applied. Scantily clad outfits at Saturday night Halloween parties still being stuck on..

Even though this was just discovered: An enormous asteroid will whiz past earth..

CREDIT: The IFL SCIENCE website:

2009 FD will approach within 6,194,000 km of Earth, about 16.3 times further away than the Moon. The asteroid was discovered in February 2009, a month before its closest recorded approach to Earth on March 27, 2009, at a distance of 624,100 km. 2015 TB145 will pass about 500,000 km from Earth, just beyond the lunar orbit.

2009 FD has been tracked by several instruments since its discovery. It was first estimated to be 130 meters in size by NASA’s Near Earth Program. A better estimate for its size came from NASA’s NEOWISE, which gave a value of 470 meters, although this is considered anupper limit.

2015 TB145 was discovered just over a week ago by the Pan-STARRS I telescope in Hawaii, and it has an estimated size of 320 meters. The passing of 2015 TB145 will be the closest approach by something this large until asteroid August 2027, when 1999 AN10 will pass within one lunar distance (380,000 km). NASA has given these objects a value of 1 on the Torino Scale, which is the value assigned to non-dangerous asteroids.

Business as usual.

2km-wide asteroid approaching Earth, NASA warns

An asteroid big enough to kill millions of people is on its way to Earth but is expected to brush past, missing by a mere 25 million kilometers – a narrow distance by space standards, NASA said.

If all goes well death and destruction will stay safely away from earth..
But boy is that close..

Huge asteroid is on near-collision course with Earth..but it will miss.

Even more troulbing: This fire in the sky is about to skim past Earth this FRIDAY—THIS FRIDAY—at 23,000 MPH..

It will not hit us.. But it’s relatively close and will be viewed by professional and amateur astronomers alike..

It’s also a huge reminder—in size and meaning—of how much is beyond us that can endanger this planet.

While we argue about useless memes and toil away with trouble, the danger lurks in our galaxy. It can strike at any time. So far we’ve been lucky.. But you sure would think by now we would have found a way to find these threats and do something about them …

While the panic ensued and bread and milk vanished from store shelves about the blizzard that turned into the fizzard, there was something mightily amazing happening well above our heads in outer space..

There was a frighteningly close  shave experienced by the planet Earth.

On Monday, asteroid 2004 BL86 was traveling at 35,000 miles .. it passed around 3.1 times the distance of the Earth to the moon. And when it did, there was quite an amazing sight: The asteroid HAS ITS OWN MOON!
This asteroid was discovered in 2004.. the passby it had yesterday was the closest it will be until 2027..This asteroid was so big, obviously, that a moon was gravitated in for the wild ride..

The other obvious aspect of this story: This was exceptionally close.. at least we knew about it since 2004.. If it would have now–or does in 2027–it would be equal to several Hiroshima bombs.. It would be a mass extinction event.. But last night we were safe. Instead we panicked in big cities and bought every crumb of bread and ounce of milk that stores had..

At some point we need to realize that the real threat–and yet ironically the place we should be trying to reach–is space. This one let us live. But it’s the other asteroids floating and whirling in space that we don’t know about which keeps people awake at night..

The pink skies are falling.. these days it seems like, whenever a large asteroid is near the planet, it seems like it is discovered just a day or two before a potential strike.. And even worse, we hear about how we almost die a year or two after it occurs, like the 2012 solar flare that NEARLY ruined most of our grid on earth.

And now this: A year after Chelyabinsk had that big meteor rip through its skies and ruin buildings, we hear this: That meteor actually collided with an asteroid before it hit earth!!

What I don’t think I will ever forget is that night, while NASA was telling people not to worry about a large asteroid passing by the planet, Chelyabinsk happened and no one knew it until Twitter started flowing with images and videos of this large meteor over the Russian  city..

But what worries me about it is this: That not only were we unaware of a meteor that could hit the planet, but also apparently had no clue about this other asteroid, either. Even though we were being told no fear of the skies that very night.. We need to come up with an earth-defensive system soon. It always seems like our luck will run out.

This is video from Toronto.. a good dashboard camera saw a meteor in the daytime sky. It’s brief but is brilliantly white..

This beautiful image of downtown Toronto with a meteor in the sky is peaceful and serene—and the opposite of what would have happened if HL129 would have struck the planet.

HL129 is an asteroid the size of a bus—it came very close to the planet Saturday morning. While we did not really hear much about it—despite the fact is was closer to the earth than the moon—the planet was obviously in some sort of danger and thankfully it did not hit..

Not that we would have known anyway.

The asteroid was actually discovered on April 28. OF 2014—days before it actually would have made itself known to the planet earth.

Lucky so far..
So far.

Another year, another fireball: Russia’s skies lit up again as a massive ball of light soars.. A side note: When I watched this fireball light the sky up on the dash cam video posted from Russia, it reminded me almost exactly of what I saw over my own home base in Pennsylvania a few days back.. Something is falling. Hopefully the pink stars stay up..

And as we watch the dash cam over Russia picking up the big ball of light, read this: NASA is pretty much saying a city-destroying asteroid NOT hitting earth at this point is simply a case of blind luck.. I constantly wonder if the powers that sorta-be are always trying to prep us for the big one. The ender.. the game changer.. the burst of light through a night sky that will shake us to the core and shake our buildings to the floor…

The God of War aligns with Earth

I was talking my dog late this evening .. there was a beautiful deep orange and red sunset dimming in the West.. I looked to the East while Mutley the dog was using his radar love to find ‘the spot’ to do his deed.. I saw Mars high in the sky—brighter than a typical planet and redder than anything else in the night twilight..It was a beautiful scene.

Immediately I thought about the photograph I saw this morning of the ‘light on Mars’—though it may turn out to be a simple camera anomaly, it’s deeply wondrous to conjecture up a civilization living on Mars, dodging out of camera sight when the Rovers snap away.. maybe they live underground? Maybe they are in those rocky red mountains.. Maybe it’s all just the mindless ramblings of an imagination while a dog owner patiently waits for his animal to use the gravitational force to find a spot to let loose.

And just then…

I saw the brightest, whitest, and most beautiful light slowly glaze across the night sky. It was huge… it was quiet.. and it was streaming through the air just below the sight of Mars in my vision.

Though anything with space is deceptive, the fireball streaking through my sky this evening was as bright and big as what a full moon would look like to the naked eye.. I do believe a tail was following it.. Most likely some sort of meteor or ….well, maybe even a space craft??

Nah… those little green men don’t exist.

But the brilliant light was shocking—so much so that the last thing I wanted to do was take my eyes off of it.. I didn’t even care to take out my phone and snap a photo—and really, it would not have been good enough to brag about anyway with an iPhone’s nighttime inabilities..

After I sat down for the evening with a warm cup of tea and cold slice of pizza, I remembered that tonight was the night when the Earth, Mars and the Sun will align tonight..  And this alignment is coming exactly a week prior to the Earth seeing the first in a series of ‘blood moons’—a type of astrological event that some paranoid folk would say portends some good ole’ end times. Just an simple internet search will showcase the oodles upon noodles of people from around the planet who fret the end of the world with the heavenly signs in the sky—John Hagee is one of those folks who said that tonight’s alignment begins a ‘hugely significant event’ for the world.

So he says..
And so lots of people say.

I just know this..

During a quiet moment of pondering my own insignificance and possibly the meaningless or meaningful nature of life—it really can go either way—I saw a big fireball streak across my eyes and vanish overtop of trees near my house.. I don’t equate my vision with anything except this: We are small here on earth.. it’s a dangerous universe out there and we don’t ever really know what will happen or where it will ..

We do know though that lots of prophets and parasites have come and gone, and they have done their damnedest to damn us.

As for John Hagee?

He always reminded me of someone..

Remember that scene from Stephen King’s STORM OF THE CENTURY where the entire town of people have the same dream of a minister preaching a fiery end times gospel and all of the townsfolk committing mass suicide by jumping into icy Atlantic ocean waters? That’s who John Hagee reminds me of..

Maybe the blood moons will be something big. Or maybe they won’t.

But remember this: Every day is the end of the world for about 150,000 or so people. Every day. And it’s the first day for thousands, too.

Born into a world of sin.
They come on in.

This TV movie, WITHOUT WARNING, scared me to hell when I was 14 years old.

I re-watched again tonight for some reason after I read that an enormous asteroid was zipping between the earth and the moon tonight. As a matter of fact, the 100 feet wide asteroid will be closer than the moon.. Thankfully so, because 100 feet of an asteroid hitting this planet would be awful.

So…in the safety (for now) of your home, sit back, grab some popcorn, and watch the movie beamed from YouTube to your computer screen or smart phone… as the asteroid zips by the planet tonight.

The acting was bad in ‘94. But the story—and the chances of an impact without warning—never go away.

The pink stars thankfully are not falling. Or are they?

A massive asteroid, the size of three football fields, is flying by earth today.

And thankfully: Safely.

The asteroid is 2000 EM26. You can watch the Slooh webcast starting at 9pm EDT on February 17 2014 ...

It will be 2.1million miles away (pretty close in space terms, right?) The GUARDIAN reports this:

But it is defined as a potentially hazardous near-Earth object (NEO) large enough to cause significant damage in the event of an impact. Scientists estimate the asteroid, travelling at 27,000mph, is 270 metres (885ft) wide.

At its closest approach at 2am UK time, the rock will be 2.1m miles from Earth, or 8.8 lunar distances.

It is happening almost exactly a year after the Chelyabinsk, Russia, hit. (Remember that night? We were watching one asteroid ‘safely’ fly by earth as another one almost hit!!?)

At least we knew about this one.. it was discovered back in the glory days of the post Clinton 90s on March 5, 2000. And now here we are.. 14 years later.. the fly by is on. Let’s hope no ‘junk’ comes with it…

INCOMING!

breakingnews:

Asteroid due to fly in between Earth and the moon

SPACE.com: NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program says a small asteroid will fly in between Earth and the moon on Tuesday, with its closest pass to our planet occurring around 5:45 p.m. ET.

The asteroid was first discovered on Oct. 25. During its closest pass, the space rock will fly by Earth at a distance of about 176,000 miles. It’s estimated to be between 39 and 89 feet wide.

There sure have been lots of weird anomalies in the sky in recent days.

Good thing FEMA REGION 3 is ready for anything.. right?

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYJoyzN9JdM?feature=oembed&enablejsapi=1&origin=http://safe.txmblr.com&wmode=opaque&w=500&h=281]

So… tomorrow is October 1 and all those FEMA Region 3 preps should be finalized, right?

There was a NARROW miss by the an asteroid this weekend, according to Russian scientists.. while we are being told it was not detected, maybe we should ask if it was…? Maybe this is why the regional preparations have been occurring? Maybe my tin foil hat is wound too tight?

Either way, we know this: Ohio saw a big fireball, as did about twelve other states and Canada. Clyde Lewis went nuts during his live broadcast Friday night attempting to comprehend this issue.. and then on Saturday, Alabama saw a big fireball. Last night, Zimbabwe saw a ‘moon like’ object..

There was no warning of this asteroid.. there was no major scientist who saw this.. and we have to now rely on the world’s new superpower, Russia, to tell us when we almost had a life-destroying asteroid hit.

This one was too close for comfort..

Whoa!

And asteroid four times closer than the moon just flew by earth.. It was the size of a truck..

And if you’re wondering why you didn’t hear about it until now, it’s because it wasn’t discovered about a day ago..

When will earth’s luck run out?

A Saturday night scare, courtesy of space

There is a comet in the Western sky tonight. That’s not the scary part.

The scary part is this: An asteroid, only discovered six days ago, is passing relatively close to earth. And it’s as big as a city block—something that would have done a bit of hardcore damage on this planet should it have been heading this way. Luckily for us it’s not, as the Saturday night beer is still cold at your local watering hole.

But this Reuters story is worth reading, and thinking about.. and worrying about..
The money quote:

An asteroid as big as a city block shot relatively close by the Earth on Saturday, the latest in a series of visiting celestial objects including an asteroid the size of a bus that exploded over Russia last month, injuring 1,500.

Discovered just six days ago, the 140-metre long Asteroid 2013 ET passed about 950,000 km from Earth at 3:30 p.m. ET. That’s about 21/2 times as far as the moon, fairly close on a cosmic yardstick.

“The scary part of this one is that it’s something we didn’t even know about,” Patrick Paolucci, president of Slooh Space Camera, said during a webcast featuring live images of the asteroid from a telescope in the Canary Islands.

Moving at a speed of about 41,843 km/h, the asteroid could have wiped out a large city if it had impacted the Earth, added Slooh telescope engineer Paul Cox.

It could have wiped out a city.

And even more alarming, it’s something no one knew about until only a few days ago.. hours, really.

This seems to be the year of the asteroid, the comet, and the ‘disaster.’ So the Mayan were wrong. December 21 ended nothing. But.. what if it began everything?

Intrigue over comet C/2013 A1.. it may hit Mars in 2014.. the possibilities explained..

Maybe plans that that millionaire has to fly a married couple by the red planet in 2018 … will change.

Or funny enough, maybe the comet if it strikes could bring building blocks (or rebuilding blocks) to Mars and …. generations from now it could be the new Earth.

The possibilities are endless.

What is going to happen though will be lots of asteroids, meteors, and comets over the next two years.

And I assume suicide cults, too.

Get ready.
