One more Pope story
Another image that is striking—much more than Popes with royal palaces or those who wore Prada shoes.. this pope carries his own luggage.
Thanks to UNDER THE DOME last night, this song has re-entered pop culture …and it’s much creepier than it was when the love song originally debuted.
And if the world was going to end today, this Skeeter Davis song would be the perfect signoff.
Cue it up CNN. Let’s be ready.
The royal afterbirth
LET IT BE KNOWN, THAT ON THIS DAY, The royal uterus opened and popped out a king. Ok, that is not how the official announcement went, but it’s good enough for me.
Sure, the world is happy and lots of Brits used it as a means of getting intoxicated at the ‘pub’ last night.. but media attention is quickly becoming unnerving. It’s over the top.. a little too much. As of this update, the planet has not been made aware of the name of the new King to be.. but we will find out. And when we do, the overblown media response will quiver with more jubilation.
Meanwhile in Britain, Prime Minster David Cameron is going to be institute a porn ban—he says for the public good—and will make citizens who want porn put in an official request from the government. I assume there will be some list generated to find out what citizens had the daring nerve to actually request porn.. We’ll most likely not find out when the powers that be get their desires fulfilled, though..
Also in the world, as the town crier announced a child happy and hopefully royal child to the universe, others starved in Africa, others were blown to bits in Syria, and others were kidnapped and tortured in Name that Country..
I am not trying to be the dour downer.. but perspective on this situation is sorely lacking. For goodness sake, the media went ‘wall to wall,’ no pun intended on Kate Middleton’s childbirth experience.. And now that there is a bountiful boy, we are increasingly hearing more about the royal family and when they will meet the new king..
I sigh with disbelief and regret over what the media has become. Firestorms of celebrity and nonsense, packaged with ‘breaking news’ footage of nothing.
George Zimmerman also was back in the news yesterday.. he apparently helped rescue an entire family from an overturned car. Talk about good PR when you need it.. Unfortunately for George, the media was busy keeping an eye on the Royal Vagina, so they didn’t see his little act of redemption..
There is one question that the media has thus far failed to answer: What did happen to the Royal Afterbirth? I sure bet the paparazzi would love to get their hands on that..

The royal uterus
Cameron timing sure is interesting.. He’s going to announce Internet censorship (he will call it a porn ban) while Kate Middleton’s royal uterus opens to export another member of the ruling class?? How great his timing is..
Cameron cracks down on 'corroding influence' of online pornography
PM pledges automatic filtering of adult material to protect children, plus outlawing of violent porn and blocking of illegal image searchesSo will he block Tumblr?
My British followers: What do you think?
David Cameron must have some skeletons he needs to hide. Why can’t we filter political parties from the Internet. That would be preferable.
I’d sure love to see what Davey Cameron searches for when it’s late at night…

Ouch.. DAILY MAIL goes into depths .. studying Eric Schmidt, the “Google love rat”
Talk about good headline writers.. here is what they titled their story:
The $8.2billion Google love rat: How boss, 58, of internet giant resisting online porn crackdown has a string of exotic lovers in his ‘open marriage’… but DOESN’T want you to know about it
My wife introduced me to this Brandi Carlile song, KEEP YOUR HEART YOUNG.. I love it as much as her.
My wife and I actually used THE STORY song as the closing dance for our wedding in 2007.. and now in 2013, this song somehow reminds us both of how important it is to keep our son laughing and happy.
I bet you can’t listen to the song without thinking back to the time when you were a child, laughing and enjoying every slice of life..
Enjoy your Sunday.

On Thursday, the Brevard County Sheriff's Department suspended Corporal Chris Wood for bringing a can of Arizona Ice Tea and a bag of Skittles to work at the Brevard County Jail on Saturday morning. He said that he was trying to send a message about the importance of keeping personal predilections about cases from affecting the work environment; instead, his superiors suspended him
So the simple act of eating Skittles is becoming a political statement..
We are getting pretty touchy, don’t you think?
So I ask, when you pick up a Paul Roberts’ Mars Inc Skittles bag, are you eating them to enjoy the taste of the rainbow, or trying to make a political statement?

Inside Google HQ: What does the future hold for the company whose visionary plans include implanting a chip in our brains?
The power of computing, and the thrill of its apparently infinite possibilities, has also long been a source of fear.
Any of my friends will tell you I thought this was going to happen—and I figured they’d actually implant a ‘phone’ or the internet in some way in our hands to replace the typical cell phone. Friends and family who thought I was crazy can now see: They want to create a transhuman.
Do you hear me now?

LA To NYC In Under An Hour, Hyperloop System Will Let You Travel At 4,000 MPH
Commuting is a way of life for most Bay Area residents. Many people are accustomed to an hour commute each way without traffic. Some people even commute to Southern California several times a month, spending several hours each way either in the car or fighting through airports. What if there was an alternative to flights […]
This would be absolutely cool and amazing.. It’s the way of the future..
Unfortunately, Dwight Eiseinhower gave us the interstate system in the 1950s.. and we don’t have any IKE or sign of him in office now.
So how will progress happen? How will we be connected by such a high speed hyperloop? Maybe just lots of luck or billionaires who want to spend their money in ways other than private yachts and underground doomsday bunkers..

So this is what happens when Congress wants to 'reform' something: Student Loan Calculator
Big banks enjoy government interest rates as low as 0.75 percent. Meanwhile, student loans are set to double if Congress doesn’t take any action. How will your future be affected?
The website http://democracyforamerica.com/studentloandebt shows you exactly how the new Senate school loan bill will effect you. For me, I better pick a higher monthly payment … read it and weep.

It’s hot. It’s sticky. 100 degrees.. ugh.

Detroit is not what people say it is
Well.. I suppose I agree. But I wish you would have said what you think it is..
Breaking the Bieber fever
I live in detroit. there is nothing to do, no where to do. this bankruptcy stuff only makes us look worse than we are. and we are bad,.
I doubt you are ‘bad’.. But certainly things right now are not working the way they should.. Thanks for the comment.
I'm from Detroit but go to college in Ohio and every time I visit home it seems to get a bit worse, more abandoned houses, etc. I love Detroit because it made me who I am but we've got a long way to go. I really wish the media would show some of the good about the city though.
The media will never show positive images, or tell good stories. Positive doesn’t sell.
It is always a shame to see your childhood memories become defunct with time and with economic conditions. Thanks for the response.. I hope everything will work out..
I am from Detroit, and I dont get why the media is so hard on us, even the pictures you posted make us look like Bosnia in 1994. We are a proud people, with history, but extremely bad leadership. The only reason we are bankrupcy is because of those in charge. Sadly it's like a mafia run city. Except the mafia would do much better.I bet you will be afraid to print this
Interesting point on the MOB. Well taken.

Detroit files for bankruptcy
The city of Detroit filed the largest municipal bankruptcy case in U.S. history Thursday afternoon, culminating a decades-long slide that transformed the nation’s iconic industrial town into a model of urban decline crippled by population loss, a dwindling tax base and financial problems.
This is rather unprecedented..
From all those images of a vacant and deteriorating Detroit to this basic admission: They are broke..
I trust that the spirit of the city strong.. I’ve never been there. But I would sure love to hear from people in Detroit about this. Answer this post or send me a message on my open lines page.
I am not from Detroit.. but if you’ve driven through the coal region of PA, you may see that we have some stuff in common.

The NSA Admits It Analyzes More People's Data Than Previously Revealed
As an aside during testimony on Capitol Hill today, a National Security Agency representative rather casually indicated that the government looks at data from a universe of far, far more people than previously indicated.

Terrible news.. tragic news.. and potentially criminal issue..
Update: 23 dead children in India simply for eating a school lunch.. This is such a horrible story.. That is their only crime in life.. eating a school lunch . And now of course the 'government will investigate'.. And I am sure find allllll the ‘answers’.. There are already some answers, at least some bits of information, being released: The food was laced with pesticides..
Troubling news..
Syrians are fleeing from war at a rate not seen since the Rwandan genocide..
That comes to us from the United Nations..
According to the UN, the number of people fleeing the conflict in Syria has escalated to an average of 6,000 a day during 2013 - a rate not seen since the genocide in Rwanda nearly two decades ago, U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday… And if anyone remembers those dark days in Rwanda, go back through amnesia lane and treat yourself to some horrid history from the mid 90s..

Damn autocorrect! I’m trying to fire someone here.
Why you should not fire someone via text message..
The man with no memory: Navy vet wakes up, speaks only Swedish
Stories like this always blow my mind. Imagine this: A Navy vet goes unconscious, wakes up without a memory, and speaks Swedish. That frightening concept is exactly what happened in the case of Michael Thomas of Florida, who was found in a Motel 6 in Southern California by police.. He now believes he is Johan Elk of Sweden..
Bizarre stuff, isn’t it?
What secrets lurk in the minds of men—especially when they lose all memory and allow their brains to work without stopping..

Rolling Stone has a released a statement on its controversial ‘The Bomber’ cover.
This is America right? Now news organizations have to explain that their reporting was not meant to offend anyone?!
Ugh.
Maybe the folks who want to ban the Tsarnaev cover from their stores would be happier if the editors of the magazine sent them this one instead:
I live 45 minutes from Boston and let me tell you everyone is livid. I applaud Rolling Stone for this gutsy move. It was a risk man. I think they are trying to paint the picture of before and after to show the contrast between the reportedly happy American (because he was a citizen) teen and the "monster" he became. I applaud Rolling Stone for the balls to publish this knowing people would be angry. I think the contrast and the publicity was the point. Not to glorify him as a "rock star."
Amen! Thanks for your perspective. And I agree with it..
I recall both NEWSWEEK and TIME putting nice happy photos of the Columbine killers on their respective covers back last century..
I personally consider this ROLLING STONE controversy beyond ridiculous (CVS will actually censor the magazine …) .. I also think collectively everyone needs to take a deep breath, eat some fruit or something, and realize what actually matters..
And besides, that image of Tsarnaev actually tells a story all by itself.
This is terrible news from India..
This is a terrible story from India, where school food killed 22 kids..traces of organo phosphorous have been found in the meal served to children which is poisonous.. This has caused protests and anger across Bihar, and India itself.. and now according to reports, it could have been deliberate poisoning..
WATCH: How Promiscuity Is A Form Of Self-Mutilation
For girls who grow up without fathers, it’s not unusual to act out sexually and look for validation in all the wrong places. Promiscuity is often observed as a common practice among “daddyless daughters” and is just one possible effect of not having a father figure.
The story from the HUFFINGTON POST.. interesting article. Worth time reading..

Dreadful dinner woes
I rarely blog about the mundane nature of my existence, instead focusing on the horrific ways of our planet, but this one is a tale needing to be told of my night last night.
My chicken looked great.. until I cut into it and realized I left the plastic on it. And sadly it was so beautiful.. Curry seasoned plastic-covered chicken.. Baked to perfected.
It became food for maggots moments after I cut into the first piece and ended up with a 2 inch piece of plastic in my mouth. But it was the most delicious plastic I’ve ever eaten..
Does plastic still constitute as one ingredient in my one ingredient lifestyle..? Guess not..

Enjoy the week!
The heat is on.
Summer's Worst Week of Heat NYC, DC, Philly, Boston
Plain and simple, this week may feel the worst of any week for this summer in the Northeast. The I-95 region will be a virtual sauna bath.
It’s hot.
No really hot.
No it’s hotter than that.
I always chuckle when those who ‘love the summer’ are seen quietly fanning themselves as sweat pours down their faces in the high noon heat of summer. You still like it, summer lovers? You enjoy the sweltering murderous heat? The kind that kills puppies and makes you sick? You’d really pick this over the cool breeze of fall and the snow of winter?
I guess it’s all relative.
After all, even the snow lovers come to miss the warmth by February..
Until then.. we have a HEAT WAVE!
