The image by the is is of skulls and bones from a graveyard washing up with flooding rains in Norway..
Dozens of quakes in one week…
1811 here we come again?
In Scotland, the government plans to give every child a ‘state appointed overseer’ from birth on.. There would be a government employee mediating the bond between parent and child, with the intention on preventing abuse.
With plans like this your don’t need enemies…
There’s been a lot of people who we should pause for today.. the numbers tell the story on their own.
Thanks to TLC, we can all watch the world’s fattest man, Ricky Naputi die.
And this is ‘entertainment.’
Another example of the sick society we have become..
Fans of wearable computers can capture what is happening around them with a wink or a subtle click, which raises the question of whether bystanders have a say in being recorded.
Nick Bilton, who wrote this article for the NY TIMES, presents quite a stark question: What do you do at a party when someone you are talking to is wearing Google Glass? Stare at the all seeing camera, or just leave the room?
I wonder what will happen with the Google Glass future. We have accepted most of the internet’s privacy defects. We are seemingly ok with Google snapping photos of our houses .. we appear alright that every movement we make online is snapped, cataloged, and often given over to government entities for ‘national security’ reasons.. But Google Glass? A contraption that will snap your life in images? One that will also see everything you do.. and if you can see it, Google can see it? … creepy. With a capital C.
But this is the future. Where privacy isn’t existent.
It once was said that, on any given Street Corner, USA, you did not possess any true privacy. No presumption. But what about that dark corner in a bar room late on a Friday night… and someone wearing Google Glass snaps your image? Or .. in your own home .. or.. anywhere.
I have had some major problems with friends who send me “People of Walmart” jokes. Do I chuckle at the first image or two I glance at? I did. I do.. But I often send back a reply telling them to take me off of their list of folks who get these ‘jokes.’ After all, what is it that is funny about them? The odd images of people shopping late at the store…. or the souls of those who mock and degrade them..? We are just fine with people snapping photos of other people, posting them online, just to make light of their either mental or physical conditions? I am not ok with it. I never liked the People of Walmart forwards, still don’t like them… and sadly… I’m outnumbered.
You know why? Because we are going to be entering the new phase of life.. the GOOGLE GLASS phenom.
Get ready..You may be recorded .. all of them time. Without knowing it.
And what happens when People of Walmart turns into the next ‘joke’ …? What happens when your privacy has been compromised?
We may have no presumption of privacy in public places. But for God sakes, don’t we at least have a presumption that other humans will be thoughtful? Other humans .. .being thoughtful? Nah. They will simply just forward the next best joke, making light about someone else..
We are turning into a very different society than we once were..
A big heads up on this for you, this may very well be a huge story that you’ll never hear about on tonight’s evening news..
Memorial Day weekend continues. Three days for many, but the pain that occurred to create this holiday is purely evident.
It all began as a celebration of those who perished during the Civil War.. Perhaps just too many other wars had taken place by the time it was expanded to dedicate a day to all lives lost during warfare.. We celebrate with barbeques and picnics, family outings and trips.. but pause for a moment and hear the distsant and faint sound of canon fire, musket fire, and gunfire from the past. And realize that even today wars are continuing (for better or worse) that will lead many more names and lost lives to be cherished for Memorial Days to come..
The New York City Port Authority has released a stunning photograph of workers placing the spire on top of One World Trade Center.. They are 1,700+ feet above the ground in the photo. Just contemplate that.. The image is amazing, and surely enough to cause persons acrophobia to look away with fear..
The picture was taken on May 10, 2013. The building is set to open in 2014—when it will become the tallest building in the Western world and third tallest on the planet..
This Oklahoma tornado story has been making me feel quite down this week. The horror and heartache that occurred is overwhelming. And now these sad funerals taking place only add insult to the injury… Any time a child loses a life is beyond distressing to me since I had my own …
And I’ve been doing a lot of deep contemplation lately about life.. Lots of prayer, perhaps you can say. But I just don’t know what I’m praying to anymore…
The weather is always weird.
But this is weird
Must have been shallow as it was felt to San Francisco and two other states
It’s a story about how evolution protects a species… So what will pest control experts do now?!
If anyone saw the news yesterday you most likely witnessed at least snippets of the video of the machete/hatchet attack in London.. It was considered to be a terrorist attack, two men hit a young British soldier with the car and began to hack and attack him, almost behead him and let him die in the street..
The entire affair was bizarre including the fact that it’s a police 30 minutes to get to the scene, the gun of the attacker supposedly blowing up in his hand, and throngs of people simply standing around aimlessly watching the entire thing happen.. It even appeared that some of the people in the background were doing nothing to stop an attacker stop the perpetrator but instead simply filming the entire event and watching as the body lay bleeding in the street..
I don’t know what to make of the crowd’s reaction to this event.. Obviously the video did not show the actual attack and we only see the aftermath, but there appeared to be no one ready to challenge the two attackers.. I just don’t know what to make of this..
Steve Wilhite, who invented the enduring GIF file format in 1987, will receive a lifetime achievement Webby Award. He is proud of the GIF, but remains annoyed that there is still any debate over the pronunciation of the format.
“The Oxford English Dictionary accepts both pronunciations,” Mr. Wilhite said. “They are wrong. It is a soft ‘G,’ pronounced ‘jif.’ End of story.”
Gif guff? Or respect to the ‘jif’?
So this is the guy that did it?
Thanks for all those cats, spinning sirens, and exploding bombs. Thank you.
This is actually some pretty cool stuff.. Good work SAP
Video: Elderly lady reunited with her dog after Oklahoma tornado
Among so much devastation from the horrendous mile-wide tornado that has ripped through the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore, there is, at least, some good news as an elderly lady and her dog have survived the storm.

Finally good news
So much heartache.. so much disaster. The latest is in Oklahoma, as you may have been seeing if you followed Earth Informer yesterday and other sources as well. Thelatest reports lament 91 dead so far—so many were children from elementary schools that were flattened by this tornado. Winds were 200 miles or more. The spread was over a mile.. And it was one of the biggest tornadoes in history.. The massive path of destruction is now evident..
KFOR is reporting the latest from the ground..
At least 91 counted dead at this point..
A desperate search for survivors ongoing.. But time is running out fast.
Rubble..
A school destroyed..
Chaos..
Life in tornado alley..
When comedy is too quick. Ever hear the comment ‘too soon’ after someone tells a joke? Comedian Lizz Winstead tweeted something yesterday after the tornado saying'This tornado is in Oklahoma so clearly it has been ordered to only target conservatives'.. this was before the bodies of dead children were taken from the elementary school.. this was before the death toll rose to at least 91.. She was forced to Tweet an apology three hours later..
The AP is now broadcasting this to the world: KFOR-TV reports that up to 24 children are believed dead at the Plaza Towers Elementary School and that it has turned into a search and recovery effort
This is a worst case scenario ..
This brutal tornado has now etched itself into the annals of weather history… And with its short presence in Moore Oklahoma it also stole the lives of so many..
Block after block is only debris. Winds cracked and demolished all in its path.. So many lives tonight now undone. So many people hurt. So many killed.
This is terrible and heartbreaking news… May God ease their suffering immediately and keep them.. If he’s there..
There’s a rumblr on Tumblr..the new billion dollar man is coming to us from the tech world. Yahoo! is shelling out over $1 bil for the blogging service Tumblr.
Some users are concerned.. After all, it seems anything corporate Yahoo! gets its hands on fails or gets forgotten..
Also interesting, David Karp, the founder of Tumblr who dropped out of high school and made the blog service in his mom’s New York City apartment, said he wouldn’t sell as recent as a month ago. But money talked. Apparently talked very loud..
Get out while the gettin’s good, perhaps?
Either way, Karp is about to become the tycoon of the age.
The first of only a few since last century. Oh, and by the way, it was last century that Yahoo! bought another blogging service: Geocities. That failed too. And about two years ago, Yahoo! completely deleted all Geocities sites from its archives and database… leaving users to frantically try to save years of infancy of the internet.
So if Tumblr users think Yahoo! will care about providing a platform for independent thought to flourish and creative activity to occur, doubt that one..Big time.
And I discovered that Magic Eyes does always translate well onto a computer screen.
Get ready to take a blast into the past, unfocused your eyes, and find the hidden photo in the blurry picture.
Caution: Don’t adjust your screen, this is NOT 1997.
One winning ticket was sold at a Publix supermarket in Zephyrhills, Florida, according to David Bishop, deputy secretary of Florida lottery.
You bastard.
Anyone else a little uneasy about this? It’s like your parents planning to give you up for adoption.
In Obama style, maybe David Karp will announce that he found out about this in the newspapers when we did.
An update on my previous post.. While channel surfing during a Jerry Springer commercial break, I discovered that there are two hours of BRIDEZILLAS airing on WeTV.
Sorry Jerry, I have priorities ..
I wrote a few days back that I inherited a stomach virus from my son.. It’s beginning to wane a bit, but not without a week of fever, and all the rest of the gunk and junk that goes with a stomach bug. Today was a recovery day.. took a day off to sleep. But sadly, I’m sleepless.
So I figured.. let’s flip some channels on the boob tube.
How sorry I was.
Jodi Arias reigned supreme on some channels. The other news networks had lots of information about the IRS.
I was able to catch the last hour of the 1990s movie MAFIA!, which I recommend for those who either don’t remember it or never saw it.
But.. the most horrendous part of TV, in my humble opinion, comes to us from the Drew Carey hosted PRICE IS RIGHT.
A little back story.. from an early child, way back in the early days of the Reagan Administration, I fondly recall watching Bob Barker’s PRICE IS RIGHT.. It was a summer staple in my life for years.
And I rarely watched it since having a day job for over a decade..
I did today. And regretted it.
First off, no one ever wins. The games are almost impossible to win, and even worse for Drew Carey to try to explain to contestants how to play.. at one point, there appeared to be a malfunction with a game in which little ‘rats’ race .. the yellow rat didn’t move until after the game had completed. And of course the unlucky contestant lost his new car. The game seems stale now. Bob Barkerless.. it should have been canceled with Barker’s retirement.
And why is Drew Carey skinny now? That doesn’t seem right, either. What has happened to this world!?
Luckily for my viewing pleasure now, though, two hours of Jerry Springer is airing on my local FOX affiliate. Some scorned woman just pushed green jello into her ex girlfriend’s face. Now they are crying.
Which reminds me: Have your pets spayed and neutered.
Which is better than his original plan of eating the properties.
It’s desperate times for desperate situations I suppose.. But even smuggled KFC doesn’t seem worth it.
Inquiring minds want to know: crispy or original?
Last Tuesday, Maria Melendez witnessed a half-dozen sheriff’s deputies fatally beating 33-year-old David Sal Silva—hitting him with clubs and kicking him— in Bakersfield, California outside Kern Medical Center. She began to film the scene on her phone, yelling to the cops that she was filming them.
Melendez, who had been visiting her son at the hospital, reported that the deputies beat Silva for eight minutes as he screamed and cried for help. He was “basically pleading for his life,” said Laura Vasquez, another witness with Melendez. “Then we couldn’t see him anymore. That’s how many cops were on top of him.”
A spokesperson for the Kern County Sheriff’s Department says that Bakersfield Police Department officers had a warrant for both phones they confiscated last week. Law enforcement officials apparently plan to continue holding the phones, as part of the investigation into Silva’s death, and all of the officers involved have returned to full duty.
Are things just seemingly getting out of hand everywhere or can we blame this on the Internet that we now know so much..?
But yet we are a nation of alcohol and antidepressants. And people serve life sentences for something that grows naturally.
Explain that one to the aliens when they come back.
My son was sick. Now he’s drinking juice and eating. Just in time for the sickness to spread to me. Fever.. Sore …
Ugh.
CNN Political Ticker: US President Barack Obama has announced that Treasury Secretary Jack Lew has requested and accepted the resignation of the acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service in the wake of its handling of requests by conservative groups for tax-exempt status.
Obama called the “misconduct” detailed in a report about the IRS response to those requests “inexcusable.”
This is a must read… As all of these IRS related stories are in my opinion
The White House has responded to accusations that the Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records for some of the associated press’ reporters and editors.
More must read information from CNN
In the time of current scandal, I’ve been trolling through old videos of how past presidents dealt with issues engulfing their respective Administrations.
Interestingly, I find Richard Nixon to be the most convincing.. Seriously. What a good actor.. what a terrible president.
Watch and decide if I’m write.. His ‘defense’ of his White House was far better than Reagan’s during Iran Contra, Bush during the leak scandal, and Clinton during Lewinsky.. Far better with worse results..
Ok, I liked STARMAN when I was young.. but I LOVED SUPERFUZZ. The best worst movie, perhaps of all time.
I remember when I first started dating my wife, I made her watch it. Surprisingly she stayed with me and later went on to marry me.
But she never watched it again.
The town is turning on President Obama – and this is very bad news for this White House.
Republicans have waited five years for the moment to put the screws to Obama – and they have one-third of all congressional committees on the case now. Establishment Democrats, never big fans of this president to begin with, are starting to speak out. And reporters are tripping over themselves to condemn lies, bullying and shadiness in the Obama administration.
Reporters across The Associated Press are outraged over the Justice Department’s sweeping seizure of staff phone records — and they say such an intrusion could chill their relationships with confidential sources. In conversations with POLITICO on Tuesday, several AP staffers in Washington, D.C., described feelings of anger and frustration…
Fear and loathing inside the Associated Press…
Just imagine how those pro-Israeli Jewish groups feel, or those people daring to put ‘Patriot’ in their name.. Just imagine how PRO PUBLICA now feels having to admit they were given information that they never should have…
This story hits me hard—and lots of other people in my area. Fires happen every day. But on Mother’s Day, when a mom loses her husband and all of her children, and her sister?? That just does not seem right, or just.. or possible.
But as I reported yesterday on here, it did occur this past Sunday in Pottsville, PA.
Last night on WBRE news, my local NBC affiliate, reporter Joe Holden relayed horrendous information. He reported that the Kelly Brown, the mom who survived the fire because she was simply catching up on laundry, asked firefighters to re-enter the burnt structure in order to find a bracelet that was given to her for Mother’s Day by her children. The volunteer firefighter did just that.. It’s one of those few moments that I cried at local news…
This is a depressing day in Pottsville, PA. Some would call the town depressed already.. anyone who takes a drive through will see a history that once was and a reality of the current that is now there. Economic changes have caused vacancies to be produced everywhere.. a bus station that was meant to be a local attraction is rarely occupied by travelers.. But there are gems and jewels amid the streets there. There are good people, great people.. moral and honest people. And they are coming together in the little city, the home of Yuengling beer.. they are crying together and trying to figure out why together.
I heard a story of a neighbor that heard screaming during the fire, screaming that the person assumes came from the children inside begging for help.
It’s these moments that make me wonder why God didn’t hear those cries.. It’s these moments we all… well.. You can contemplate the rest.
Why is it, that every time we see a story online about overweight people, we are treated to this SAME stock photo of an massive person trying to wedge themselves into a metal chair?
I think I recall seeing this image now for years.
And every time the media gives us a new article or study result on fat people, we get this same picture shoved in our eyes …
If only we could meet this person. And maybe ask how this picture changed their lives, now that everyone on the planet with the internet has been offended by it in some way..
Scandals evolve.
Administrations devolve.
It’s raining over Obama now. And when it rains it pours.
But things can turn quickly.. that’s an is.
And it all matters what ‘is’ means anyway..
But there are important questions waiting to be answered. How many IRS officials knew of the political targeting? Did anyone in the White House?
How did such a huge confiscation and spying on AP reporters occur? This is unprecedented.
Why can’t the Administration simply stop making any references to that video, as we know now it had nothing to do with Benghazi.
If bad things come in threes, I guess the President is at his limit. But in politics, bad things come in multiples of threes. A long hot summer may be starting..
TUESDAY MAY 14 2013
SCANDAL CONSUMES THE WHITE HOUSE

Angelina Jolie receives preventive double mastectomy.. Writes in the NEW YORK TIMES why..
Massive solar flares continue to be unleashed from the sun..
From SpaceWeather: A sunspot on the sun’s eastern limb is crackling with powerful X-class solar flares. Just-numbered AR1748 announced itself during the early hours of May 13th with an X1.7-class eruption (0217 UT), quickly followed by an X2.8-class flare (1609 UT) and an X3.2-class flare (0117 UT on May 14). These are the strongest flares of the year so far, and they signal a significant increase in solar activity

Actress Angelina Jolie has written about her decision to have a preventative double mastectomy in a New York Times piece.
In the piece, Jolie writes:
My mother fought cancer for almost a decade and died at 56. She held out long enough to meet the first of her grandchildren and to hold…
This could be a turning point in this Administration and its relationship with the press.
It was the longest honeymoon of all time.. But every page must turn..
