ALL THE TROUBLE IN THE WORLD.

As the great 2000 Mile of 2011 Blizzard strikes the United States with over a foot of snow in places and inches of ice in others, the other part of the world is nervously awaiting fate as Cyclone Yasi churns.. While people will be hunkering down within the next few minutes to hours, authorities are amplifying the fear by telling Australians: Don’t panic if the roof comes off. Other dire warnings include $500 mil or more in damage to sugarcane growers. Devastation is coming, they say, for banana growers. .. Island paradise turns into island fear.

And besides the fear over how much money will be lost in farms, other immediate concerns turn to human life itself. How many people are prepared for this storm? The onslaught is due to be challenging at best and life threatening for hours at worst..

People in Australia are bracing for drenching rains and ferocious winds. Cyclone Yasi has achieved an unthinkable but very real Category 5 status tonight, tomorrow their time…

And this to a nation that has been ravaged by floods and true horror over the past several weeks.

IMPACTS…SNOW AND ICE COVERED ROADS WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS
TRAVEL CONDITIONS. POWER OUTAGES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE DUE TO
THICK ACCRETIONS OF FREEZING RAIN.

* WINDS…EAST TO NORTHEAST 5 TO 10 MPH IN THE VALLEYS…AND
SOUTHEAST 10 TO 20 MPH ON THE RIDGES. WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE
WEST ACROSS THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS AND CENTRAL MOUNTAIN`S IN THE
WAKE OF A COLD FRONT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON…AND INCREASE TO 15 TO
20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH POSSIBLE LATER WEDNESDAY.

…Snow is one thing. Freezing rain for hours upon end are quite another. And a half inch of ice with 40 mile per hour winds is going to be possibly disastrous for a whole lot of people.

No school bus on the road.. No plane in the air? How much air travel will be grounded tomorrow due to the massive storm? Lots.. according to forecasters, ice will be prevalent over some of the largest airports in the nation along the East Coast. Travelers: Good luck, and prepare..

Interesting developments occurring in Jordan: Jordan’s King Abdullah II, bowing to public pressure, fired his government on Tuesday and tasked a new prime minister and says he will give Jordanians more say in the government..

This storm is beyond impressive..

Good luck to the 2,100 miles of 100 million Americans getting a brutal introduction to February 2011. We’re in this together.

And while we may not appreciate the weather that IS falling, we perhaps should respect it

The storm is hitting about 2,100 miles in length of the United States with over a foot of snow, and there is a large radius around that 2,100 miles that will be burying people under heavy snow and a dangerous amount of ice.

Living through history typically means you’re living through something bad. And this storm is historic in its affects.. Which means it won’t be fun in the least..

Greetings from a snowy East.

Ice and snow abounds..
Slush covers the grounds..
Misery in your town.

A rhyme is the best I can come up with to deal with the misery of yet another storm.. this time affecting over 100 million Americans. The future radar of my area is appalling, frightening, and yet mesmerizing. If what they say will happen indeed happens, it appears there will be a massive ice storm that by tomorrow will have over 1 inch of ice in parts of the dark coal region of Pennsylvania and many other places too. That is a prospect sure to cause fear.. power outages.. no heat during a cold storm that has snow, ice, and rain all mixed together.. It may be nasty.

Hopefully not. After all, the staple of the great winter storm, the frozen pizza, won’t be able to be made without power..

We are slaves to modern life, aren’t we?
