There is a problem, of course.. the product, despite what I always thought, is not called Oxyclean. It is OXICLEAN. With an I not a Y.
Really..

Don’t believe me? Look it up..
I know, I know.. impossible! You recall the ads that said ‘oxycute’ dirt..Or pimples..  you know that the “oxy” was a reference to oxygen somehow being used in conjunction with the cleaner..? Am I way off base here?
But that is not what this timeline is serving up to you.
I have not written about the now famed ‘Mandela Effect’ lately. Which is actually too bad. I have had and led several conversation with friends and family over the past few months regarding the topic. Recently Heather Wade had a very listenable program on the September 1 edition of MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT regarding the topic, should you want to go back and have a look-see.
But this Oxy….I mean Oxiclean issue is the most recent type of time slip I have experienced that actually, well, angered me. Anger because it just stopped making sense. Angry because my sanity feels in jeopardy so often when I delve into this whole time slip notion.

You and I have heard the scientists and experts pooh pooh the Mandela Effect theory.. mass hallucination! Sure, tens of thousands of people remember the BerenSTEIN Bears.. and yes, so many—including me—recall King Henry VIII holding a giant turkey leg in a painting that was pictured in history books in the 1980s.. The list goes on and it is being added to daily. Check Mandelaeffect.com for the complete annals of alternative history. It is an amazing site that no one can replicate.. Add your own commentary and voice to it as well.

With the latest Oxyclean or Oxiclean conundrum I experienced, it reminded me of another recent topic that I did not write about: The movie DAZED AND CONFUSED.  No, it was not a good film. It was that typical early 90s teen angst not so funny type of movie.. But it also has created a chapter in the history books of Mandela Effect lure.   Did you ever hear of the theory that there was a land mass off of the coast of Australia? It was a large mass and many thousands of people recall it—oddly they all recall it in around the same vicinity. There is no recorded evidence of this mass, or as some have dubbed it, Taured, existing. (also Google the MAN FROM TAURED for some creepy late night reading) .. However, a brief classroom scene from the film DAZED AND CONFUSED may add to the mystery. During the short snipped, there is actually a globe spinning that seemingly has that creepy now vanished land mass!
I went through the normal notion that it was a mistake. Just a misprinted map used in the film. Heck maybe even intentionally done. But this was in 93, long before the Mandela Effect theory. Then I thought, perhaps, the island shaped something was just a map legend. Or a logo of the company who printed it.. But it looks to island-shaped to be such. Or maybe so many people remember the map from DAZED AND CONFUSED that they became dazed and confused and recall this map as real history?

Frankly, none of it makes sense.

So why would a little dumb movie be the key to the Mandela Effect?  I have no clue. Perhaps the giant computer programmer in the sky forgot this movie even existed, so much so that the computer code erasing history never was updated the correct way?!

And why would Oxyclean now have an I…?
What if this…super computer popping into parallel dimdimensionsd messing with the timeline not only there, but also here? Sounds like fiction. But get this. (link) The website HACKED reported a year ago that a venture capitalist for the D-Wave computer system announced it had broke the 1000 qubit barrier and that some weird things are now happening.. The managing director of the company, Steve Jurveston, said that now super computers have become so powerful that they actually harness the computing power of huge numbers of parallel universes!  Pretty quantum and crazy…
Can we blame D-Wave?

And why..
And you know what is coming up? September 22. Or the 23rd. That is the date when some weird stuff happens. At least some speculate such.

So in moments like this, during times of frustrating no-answer question sessions, the best thing to do is sit back, pop in Forest Gump and realize you misquoted it your entire life (or did you) and eat a big giant turkey leg.

Kubo starts with a story that we should not blink.. that the story about to be told is very important.. It is not a lie. 

One of my favorite entertainment sites the Flickering Myth has a good review of the film on its site. But not even the review does justice .. the movie is beyond emotional..

By the time the final act arrives, and the remake of MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS begins to play, Mom and Dad were tearful wrecks while Ayden was asking to see the movie again.

It was deep and meaningful.. it had moments for children and adults.. very strong, strong moments.

It is one of the best movies I have ever seen.

Winston-Salem police say someone in a clown costume tried to lure kids into the woods Sunday night.

The incident happened in the 1200 block of East 29th Street off Hwy. 52 about 8:30 p.m.

The “clown” was described as wearing white overalls, white gloves, red shoes with red bushy hair, a white face and a red nose.

The suspect allegedly tried to lure the kids with treats. The suspect was reportedly seen by two children and heard, but not seen, by one adult. The suspect fled the area when officers arrived.

Labor Day is something special.. something very important. It is not MAY DAY, America was sure to separate its reflection of workers from the Communist inspired day across the rest of the world. No, here in America, we have long prided ourselves on having workers rights alongside of capitalism. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it does not. Every now and then someone like Teddy Roosevelt or Franklin have to come around and give workers more rights.. or Richard Nixon and give the government more power to protect. 

But labor day did not just emerge because someone in power liked labor unions.. Not at all. It was forged with blood and sacrifice. Real blood and real death. The United States Department of Labor offers up a history of Labor Day on its website.. 

Not spoken about much during Labor Day celebrations: The Molly Maguires .. They battled coal barons in my home location of the dark mines of Eastern Pennsylvania.. They forged fairness for workers and wages for those who often were just slaves to the company towns.. And they were charged with crimes without evidence they committed them and hung–most likely because their actions have weight that forever changed the nation. 

And even today, in the Old Jail in Jim Thorpe Pennsylvania, it is said that a handprint of one Molly still exists as a sign for all future generations of their universal power and strength. 

Labor Day comes every year with picnics and beach trips.. and just like every other holiday here in the United States, over time it seemingly loses meaning for some people. Labor Day should not at all.. the very fact you have a day off or are able to have a wage and overtime after forty hours is because of the sacrifices often in blood that so many had generations before us..

The sun is shining bright today.. this is a fine Sunday, the kind that I feel like I will remember in my ripe old age. 

LABOR DAY 2016 is upon us.. my birthday just took place two days previous, and as I age, I really have come to love this month. From September 1 through about October 31, I believe is the best time of the year.. The most remarkable weather here in the eastern part of the former once great Coal Region of Pennsylvania.. The late summer grass begins to fade from green to yellow, leaves start to turn vibrant.. The festivals and fairs of fall usher in a new feeling.. a crisper feel to the air and a rash of hurry in the atmosphere..

The nights get longer.
That part isn’t my favorite..

The days grow weary.. But until November, there is still abundant sun and warmth.. 

I just love this time of the year.

I predict it is going to be one of the best horror films of this style in some time, and also one of the biggest movies of the summer .. This has been a wonderful year for horror so far–the summer has been profitable for the genre as well..

All that said, I wanted to point out the glee that some seem to be filling themselves with watching the demise of SUICIDE SQUAD. The article Iink here describes how SUICIDE SQUAD is ‘finally going down’ after three weeks of topping the box office..

A few points I wanted to make..

First off, movie reviewers are just as meaningful as CNN these days. In CNN’s case, things have gotten so bad for their election all Trump network, ratings have gone down. Tanked so much as a matter of fact that now CNN is being beaten by the once barely alive MSNBC.. In the case of movie reviews? All of those negative reviews for SUICIDE SQUAD did not matter one bit.. Not at all.

Instead, people went to see it anyway. More than once as a matter of fact. (Me included.)

Was SUICIDE SQUAD everything it could be? No .. but for a summer time comic book film, it was successful for DC, which hasn’t been stellar in the comic movie world as of late..

Movies come and go. In the summer, most of the time, they are one week wonders that rise with big numbers and fall by 80% the next week. Every now and then a sleeper comes along. SUICIDE SQUAD was not a sleeper, but it also wasn’t a dud. The movie made good money not only in the United States but also international box offices, too.. Harley Quinn is getting her own spinoff. And Jared Leto as the Joker?Eh.. Ithat point I will be kind and not comment.

SO let the movie pundits jump with glee! Suicide Squad is finally going to be dethroned. They tell us.

They tell us a lot.

And most people stopped listening.

But DON’T BREATHE? I am happy–estatic as a matter of fact–that a horror movie is going to bring down a comic book movie.

This has been a good summer for film . At least the types of films Iike.

“The still nameless planet is believed to be Earth-like and orbits at a distance to Proxima Centauri that could allow it to have liquid water on its surface — an important requirement for the emergence of life,” the source told Der Spiegel. “Never before have scientists discovered a second Earth that is so close by.”


The first thought I had! If pyshics changes ever so slightly and we discover a faster way to move through out solar system and the universe, we can potentially reach this “close” planet during MAYBE my lifetime, but more likely my young son’s.

The second thought.. And the frightening one.. What if this planet is the bizarro world version of us!? What if it’s the upside down of earth, where things are reversed.. or it’s a parrellel us and there’s some alternate ME and YOU reading this now?

Maybe we can observe.. but not contact.

But it sure would be amazing to see what exists on a planet very similar in size to our home. With water. And maybe land. And probably life?

This show has been on for as long as I have been alive.
When I was young, my mom and dad loved politics. They debated at the dinner table—those old adages of religion and politics not being discussed was certainly not true in my family..

And from an early age in life, I recall the voice of John McLaughlin signing off the weekly Sunday show with a “bye bye”… As I turned 13, this show featuring old farts bantering about presidents and Congress became one of the chief reasons I eventually got interested in politics and current events…

I even vividly recall one hot summer morning when I was out riding bikes with friends. . looking at my watch and realizing it was 11:25 am.. And I burned two-wheeled rubber just to make it home in time for the half hour dedication to the absurdity that is American politics..

The show was a must see every week. As tech roared in and time wore out, I normally caught the show on Monday, after Sunday, online…

But the impact is clear. On my life and so many others.

John McLaughlin was a lighthouse during turblent times. He made sense of nonsense and political intrigue. He wore bow ties on New Years and had one of the quickest and yet most amazing shows I have ever seen.

If you wanted to know anyting about politics, the McLaughlin Group outlived them all. Outlived the Capitol Gang. Outlived Brinkley.. Russert.. it was a perplexing thing to understand for some new to it.. but after a few weeks, it all made perfect sense.

This Sunday will be the last day. The final show.. And without John McLaughlin, no more “bye byes” … or Gobble Gobbles on Thanksgiving..

And the beat goes on.

While combing through news articles I stumbled across a Huffington Post story about how seeing that can force one to not unsee it.. it’s forever imprinted into your brain.

For me, it froze the computer immediately. The screen actually froze–embarassing I know–on the Full Monty version of the Trump statue. And then to complicate matters further, the computer actually is not even turning on now!

It is the curse of the Trump package, perhaps.

I broadcast this short dispatch with a warning: Avoid looking at the images at all costs! Your computer hardware may depend on it.

Growing pains

You may have to indulge me a bit over the next few weeks.. Or longer.

Tonight my son Ayden began to swim on his own, without fear, at the tender age of 5.. he had his floaties, but still realized the proper way to move his arms and legs. He was confident and sure of himself.. 
It was a growing moment.

Next week will be the same. He begins kindergarten. 
Unfortunately I cannot bring myself to realize that truly, just yet. The idea has not reached fruition in my mind.

Kindergarten..
My God..
Five years .. all gone.

The emotions are going to run high.
And there will be lows..
Growing pains. For children. And parents all the same.

Conspiracy theories rage in the night..

The video appeared on August 11th on YouTube and on the Facebook page ofStranger Than Fiction News. It shows what appears to be a staged human sacrifice ritual performed on CERN grounds at night. Most of the people are in black cloaks and a woman appears to be stabbed. The French news agency AFP reports that it contacted CERN about the video and an unnamed official confirms some aspects of it..

The money quote:

“These scenes were filmed on our premises, but without official permission or knowledge,” a CERN spokeswoman told AFP in an email.

“CERN does not condone this type of spoof, which can give rise to misunderstandings about the scientific nature of our work,” she added.

The “investigation” under way was an “internal matter”, she said.

The video has raised questions about security on CERN’s campus.

Asked to detail the security procedures surrounding access to the campus, the CERN spokeswoman said: “CERN IDs are checked systematically at each entry to the CERN site whether it is night or day.”

She further indicated that those responsible for the prank had access badges.

Soccer coach pride

We had a rough one today for the 5 year olds.. Four of our players did not make it.. The three that remained played the entire game without too many breaks. Ayden, my son, had a run in with his child crush.. And her kept allowing her to steal the ball from him without figthing back much. But my team perservered.. the they not give up.. they kept strong and they ended up on the losing end of the goal race but victorious in their ablity to work together and be a team. Loved seeing it, and my wife and I especially had some pride knowing that the weeks of coaching may be paying off..

The future of the building formerly known as Cardinal Brennan High School

Some local flare for a Friday night..

There have been a ton of opinions about what should happened to the shuttered and sad former high school Cardinal Brennan (my alma mater in the coal region of the Eastern mines) .. North Schuylkill school district purchased it, auctioned off the internals.. The building is vacant. Some believe it should be knocked down, others say keep it.

Some encouraging news took place recently from the camp keep it..

Substantial optimism was expressed at the latest North Schuylkill School Board meeting for the possibility of saving the main Cardinal Brennan High School building–built in 1926.. an all girl’s school then that eventually become an integrated Catholic high school that closed in the mid 2000s..

During a presentation to the board, a professional expert advised he believed the building is structurally sound and can be rehabilitated much more inexpensively than if it were razed and replaced by a new school building.

A decision is still to come. But this is giving many hope that the building which once houses voices and laughter of children will once again do the same..

A blast from the coal region past.. The “Ashland Daily News” doesn’t exist anymore.. but in 1949 it reported that homes were demolished – homes in the path of proposed stripping.. The road mentioned in the brief snippet is what is now called “Snake road” that ties together Ashland and Mt Carmel..

All the stripping left the landscape vanquished. What exists now? Dirt, rubbish, couches, and just about any piece of garbage people can dump along a highway.

A standoff between police and an angry crowd turned violent Saturday night in the hours after a Milwaukee police officer shot and killed an armed suspect during a foot chase.

After an hours-long confrontation with officers, police reported at 10:15 p.m. CT that a gas station was set on fire. Police said firefighters could not get close to the blaze because of gunshots.

The incident started in the afternoon when two officers stopped two people in a car in the city’s north side, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

Shortly after, both occupants fled on foot and officers pursued them, police said. During the chase, one officer shot a 23-year-old man who was armed, according to authorities.“He (officer) ordered that individual to drop his gun, the individual did not drop his gun,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said. “He had the gun with him and the officer fired several times."The man died at the scene.

Saturday nights are made for fighting..

The Excel file also includes similar contact information for hundreds of congressional staff members (chiefs of staff, press secretaries, legislative directors, schedulers) and campaign personnel.

In announcing the leak of the document, “Guccifer 2.0” reported that the spreadsheet was stolen during a hack of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “As you see I wasn’t wasting my time! It was even easier than in the case of the DNC breach,” the hacker wrote.

The Ashland State Hospital in Pennsylvania sometime in the mid 1900s as shown with a postcard..

The hospital went through a lot through the years. Today it’s closed after mismanagement and bankruptcy from previous ownership..

Future plans include a potential drug treatment center.. But for now the building is shuddered..

The image you see actually isn’t what it looks like today.. there were new additions onto the hospital, that changed the architecture..

But what remains are ghosts … spirits.. and fifth floor intrigue.

If ghosts exist, I doubt that a closed hospital would have ever gotten rid of them at this location..
