This is a dramatic scene of Biblical proportion devastation—at a Biblical camp ground in California!

More than 2,500 are stranded .. residents of Oak Glen and Forest Falls in the San Bernardino mountains of the Left Coast state were hit by freak flash floods. Mudslides began to create a hell on earth scene .. now those who are cut off include 500 adults and children at a Christian campground…

The pictures and videos tell a thousands stories.. or in this case, 2500

Here’s one of a dramatic wall of water.

Apparently no ark was handy at the moment..

Prayers will be flowing, undoubtedly, by those stuck by nature..

My local fishwrapper actually informed me of something

I didn’t pay much attention to world events yesterday, so when I actually read the pages of my local newspaper today, I was informed of something monumentally big that I don’t think too many news networks even covered: A shallow 6.1 earthquake in China has killed almost 400.. 1800 injured.. 12,000 homes have been destroyed.

And now, as though God didn’t do enough, torrential rains are slowing down relief efforts, and probably creating a soggy hell on earth for all hit by the earth event..

The biggest impact was in the city of Zhaotong .. Roads and bridges are out.. the military has been sent in.. As more people are being pulled from rubble, it’s expected to have an increased injury and death toll.. once the rains allow rescue workers to get to them, that is..

Until then.. dramatic photos are being taken and published for the world to see.. The one that most affected me was a Chinese soldier rushing a baby to safety.. But how many innocent others are gone..?

Ebola terror at Gatwick as Sierra Leone flight passenger dies

MORE:

The woman, said to be 72, became ill on the gangway after she left a Gambia Bird jet with 128 passengers on board. She died in hospital.

Ebola has killed 256 people in Sierra Leone. A total of 826 have died in West Africa since the outbreak began in February. Tests are now being carried out to see if the woman had disease.

The plane was quarantined as officials desperately tried to trace everyone who had been in contact with the woman.

But before emotions get wild and assumptions get made: This is not yet ruled Ebola related. As a matter of fact, the MIRROR goes on to report—deep in the article—

The passenger was taken to hospital and sadly died.

“In line with standard procedures, tests are being undertaken to determine the cause of death.

“The patient’s symptoms suggest that Ebola is very unlikely but as a precaution this is one of the tests being undertaken.

It is a matter of time, of course, before cases pop up outside of Africa.. The world is too connected and close for that not to occur. It’s just the hope that health officials will calmly take matters into their responsible hands.. and that panic will not ensue.

Like today…when the vomiting 72-year-old led to a world crisis.

12-Year-Old Girl Suffers Severe Burns Taking Part In ‘Fire Challenge’ After Seeing Videos On Facebook

Can we please go back to the ‘cold water challenge’? I never thought I’d say that..

That or maybe it’s time Marky Mark Zuckerberg placed some renewed age restrictions again..

The Fire Challenge may be the dumbest things dumb kids have done yet. Yet.

Behind Ohio drinking-water ban, a Lake Erie mystery

Phosphorus levels are lower today than they were in 2007, and in 2007 when they were higher the algae bloom being blamed for this water crisis did not exist.. among the reasons, scientists are now speculating, climate change and warmer temperatures.

But the only wrinkle of doubt and logic I will throw in that theory would be how cold all of the Great Lakes were this year, even up until now…

Behind Ohio drinking-water ban, a Lake Erie mystery

The lady in black.. here and gone

I was perplexed as the mysterious ‘lady in black’ roamed small town America.. news media organizations followed her, Twitter did too.. Facebook posts and pages were dedicated to her. She was on a ‘religious mission,’ she said.. she said she worked for the Pentagon, others claim she did not.

The woman walked cloaked in black with a walking stick.. the frenzy over her appearances got to the point where, on Wednesday, she apparently had enough. Police officers swept her away from a crowd of dozens of people this past week in Winchester, Virginia. And with that, the long national mystery has become even more mysterious..

The police say “she wants to be left alone.”  Which is understandable.. As a matter of fact, on her long voyage on foot through the states she went to, she never went to the media or broadcast  her perils or plight to the world. Instead, social media was the buzz buzzing over her existence.. And with it came thousands of comments about what she was doing and where she was going.. some even thought she was a sign of dreadful things to come, in the same way that the Mothman did.. Others saw her as a sad person on a special voyage for personal ambitions.. Facebook posts began defending her and demanding others stop mocking her travels..

Religious voyage?
Woman with mental problems?
Those mysteries may remain just that.. as the lady in black vanishes into the night..

Plane Carrying Ebola Patient Stopped in Maine

But no one will be harmed by the stopping of the Ebola patient plane..

The paranoia in my is strong: My first inclination was to immediately remember the peaceful scene presented in the book and TV movie THE STAND.. Maine was the place where Frannie Goldsmith lived with her father. Molly Ringwald in the TV version..

Hope Frannie will be ok.

Plane Carrying Ebola Patient Stopped in Maine

….so this guy, without any protective gear, was sneaking behind walls to take a photo of the Ebola patient arriving in Emory..

Either stupidity.. or perhaps a clear sign that my hunch is right: This was a decoy van for publicity and media attention while the real one was either there already or going in another way..

This is what store shelves in Toleda Ohio look like right now.. organisms in the water.. not a drop to drink. OR boil.

A few reports online say that water is clear out empty in stores 25 miles away from Toledo in Delta, OH.. additionally, people are driving as far as Michigan and Indiana to buy bottled water..

Embedded image permalink

In crisis, people either act like amazing patrons of glory or rabid animals looking for a quick piece of human flesh.. In this Twitter picture, we see a car so weighed down by all the water a woman purchased that her car got stuck..

So the bottled water is gone.. remaining: Propel on the right hand side.. Perrier *(I think)* to the left.. but who drinks that..

Saturday night's many main events

A few more news curating duties before turning off the ill-colored monitor.. the light from which has been making my eyes go dizzy over the past week. Not because of the aura of blue it emits, but instead because of the FTPed and HTMLed information that has been given to me on it.. news of the weird and wild, hurtful and harmful.. Ebola on a jet plane and an ambulance ride that the world watched. Obama vs Congress vs the Immigrants. Part 4. Justin Bieber. Ninja Turtles.. Crudeness, rudeness. Overt blasts to the past.. my mind is numb.

But not numb enough to ignore a few more tidbits of information this late Saturday night…

A CNN ‘ireport' shows us the moment when the now world famous Ebola patient walked into Emory University Hospital. The woman was there seeing her father. She heard about the Ebolaman .. she got the Ebola: She left her father to film history.. Not sure if that’s something I’d do. But she did..

There has been fear and loathing in Las Vegas. And also lots of fear over Ebola in Atlanta.. but here’s some facts: This is how you get Ebola, what happens when you have it, and why you die a short time after being infected. If the article was meant to quell fears, it did not of that for me.. instead it just increased my paranoia about Ebola being willingly being brought onto the shores ..

Top WHO officials say that Ebola is outstripping control efforts.. IN Africa. But in the United States, the United Nations tells us still, risk remains low of a Captain Tripps the STAND end of the world scenario. But that’s what they said in the movie too, then the Army blasted their way in to Rae Flowers’ radio show. And the rest was television and novel history.

And finally, on Ebola, call me crazy *many often due*.. but I got  to thinking about today’s live coverage on networks of the ambulance—without even a car of police protection in sight—taking the Ebola patient to Emory. I hope, truly hope, that it was staged.. I hope that some wild conspiracy took place, and that actors were paid to throw off the news nets while the real Ebola patient was transmitted the right way.. The more I thought about the slow motion ambulance drive, the more I really began hoping that what we witnessed was simply a staged presentation …

Those in Toledo Ohio tonight have been shocked into a world without water.. warnings have been sounded: Don’t drink, and don’t even BOIL the liquid.. Apparently 600,000 people on the west end of the never clean Lake Erie have been told to avoid the basic ingredient to a good day: H20.  Water at a Toledo treatment plant tested positive for microcystin, a toxin known to cause liver and kidney damage.. Governor Kasich declared a state of emergency.. Residents are now forced to wait. Bottled water is going fast..

@Time magazine this week featured a cover story about ‘manopause’ and the male race to increase their manhood.. but we are not told tonight in reports that, quite a long time ago, that a decrease in male testosterone led the world to beautiful art and amazing civilized humans.  I knew the Bronies were on to something good…

Some interesting news from the GHOSTBUSTERS 3 universe.. apparently, VARIETY reports, the movie may feature an all-female cast.. Apparently Sony and Paul Feig are conversing over the possibilities.. Maybe even as we speak. It may be a good idea, too.. movies are trending more towards the feminine hero side.. THOR will be a woman, LUCY was the show last week.. and now a team of all women hunting SLIMER may be next..

Now that Bill Murray may be free of GHOSTBUSTERS, minus the predictable cameo we all hope for, he will be busy doing the voice of BALOO in the JUNGLE BOOK.

Here’s some raunchy stuff, since it’s a Saturday night. Forgive me the indulgence if you read it Sunday: Transgender to have a penis made from tattooed skin on his arm. Chances are, if you’re German in Germany, and a male, you have had penis enlargement surgery.. An anatomically correct doll has parents freaking out. And a mastiff dog bit off a man’s penis while he was in conversation.  Surely the painful subject of which will be the topic of conversation for many conversations to come.

Meanwhile read the first chapter in a book I have been cooking for some time.. the story of life, new life.. old life. Life.

That’s the story until the morning’s glory.
So if you’re out and about, have a drink on me. I used to go out, but that’s so pre-internet. Right?

Enjoy the music.. play a song and dance. You are the show.

I wish I was enjoying the show like some of my friends tonight in Philly.. Next time, Billy Joel.. next time.

And I’m glad you enjoyed the movie thepete

Evenin’ all.

How surreal this ambulance driver’s day must be.. The entire world is watching.. I get nervous at backseat drivers. Imagine the entire television viewing audience watching his every move and potential traffic violation..

It reminds me of the slow motion OJ chase..

CNN airs live coverage of the ambulance taking the Ebola patient to the hospital. So surreal..

She said,

While we are watching the friendly skies for Ebola to land.. maybe it's already here?

A doctor named Alan Jamison put himself in self-quarantine in his Tennessee home. While there are no reports that he has Ebola, he treated Ebola patients in Liberia…

He did this Monday—meaning that this entire week, while the United States debated whether bringing Ebola patients to a hospital adjacent to the CDC was a good idea or not, it  may have already here all along..

CNN is reporting on the doctor.. and also the fact that he has exhibited no signs of the disease yet..

Worth reading: Jamison has no symptoms at this point.

CNN says,

He plans to be in isolation for 21 days, which is the incubation period for the disease or the time between infection and onset of symptoms.

"My last encounter with a patient who had Ebola was on July 19," he said. "I contacted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on my arrival … and informed them I had been in West Africa and my history."

The father of three said his daughter picked him up from the airport and dropped him at home, where he’s quarantined himself and has had no contact with anyone since.

Good thing the CDC knows about this..

But I have a few questions…

How many other doctors, or people, are doing the same thing as Dr. Jamison? Should the CDC be more keenly aware, and are they even aware of everyone that may be doing this self-isolation treatment?  Should Dr. Jamison being transferred to the CDC location where these other two patients—who definitely have Ebola—are going to be housed ..?

But potentially even more troubling in my mind.. it’s a nice gesture to self-quarantine, but what about the plane he rode with others to get back to the United States?

There is one factor also worth considering—I did not know this until now. Ebola is only contagious after the 21-day incubation period.. That would make for a great sequel to 28 DAYS LATER, but it also creates a far greater chance for developed nations to prevent this disease ..

And let’s face it: The death toll is rough. 90% of those who contact Ebola die.. But a few hundred (conservative estimate, sure) of a few million people isn’t a lot.. Even in third world nations, where disease is abundant, Ebola is still hard to catch under the right circumstances.

The problem is the amount of distrust of governments in the African nations where the disease is hitting, and the refusals to be isolated and also, quite often, the fears of modern medicine..

Slick rollout on hold: Megan Fox Tells Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Haters To F**k Off

A big thumbs down on the haters from Megan Fox.. the extra-shiny Fox said the colorful language during a press conference today .. the run up to the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES may be getting a bit stressful.. perhaps Michael Bay has been putting on the pressure for Fox to get even skimpier and skinnier.. Not sure ..

But the truth is this: She hates you if you hate her new movie..

She said this about the newfound online bashing of the newest TMNT:

Let me tell you something about those people. How much money didTransformers 4 make? Exactly. Those people can complain – they all go to the theater. They’re gonna love it – and if they don’t love it, they can fuck off, and that’s the end of that

Critics who have already been critical were quick to criticize and critique.. especially thumb raising is how quick Fox was to use some interesting language and express such raw emotions so few days before the well oiled rollout of the movie occurs..

Fox has been going throughout the world to promote the film.. She’s the star. She’s the face..and the body.

And now she’s the sailor, cussing on stage and hatin’ on haters.

Slick rollout on hold: Megan Fox Tells Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Haters To F**k Off

If you want to see killer clowns do some horrid and awful things in a movie, give Rob Zombie some money.

He wants it.. Whether he needs it is another question, and whether he should make such a film is a question I don’t even bother to ask when it comes to him..

We know this, though: Rob Zombie is getting into the crowdfunding game, and is asking fans for cash if they like a ‘fast-paced, mean dirty film for those who like it rough.’ He says..

He has launched RZ-31 on the site FanBacked.com. CNET reports some trinkets you can get for giving Zombie your money to make a torture porn movie:

In addition to offering the typical movie swag like key chains and stickers (which you can get for a $15 contribution), Zombie is upping the rewards game by giving away crew t-shirts ($50), the opportunity to have your name included in the credits ($750), and a chance to be an extra on the set ($5000). If you really have a thing for clowns and murder, you can shell out $10,000 for an executive producer credit.

For $1500 you can get a hold of one of the original crosses from Zombie’s flick “House of 1000 Corpses” or wait for it…a $2000 donation will bring you one of the original Michael Meyers’ masks from “Halloween,” of which, according Zombie, there are only 50 in existence. Fans have 59 days left to contribute to the film if they’re interested.

59 days left.. the clock is ticking.

31 is going to be a ‘kill or be killed’ type movie with no boundaries.. Zombie says a the clowns within will be a group of ‘vile, filthy, blood-thirsty clowns known as The Heads. They come in all shapes and sizes and each grows nastier than the last.’

Sounds fun.
If you like that sort of stuff, perhaps.

So .. have any cash you can send him? Key chains await as a reward..

Ebola patients 'refusing isolation'

This is one major reason this outbreak is so bad..
From all sources I have read: Those with the disease, or some who may get it, are either paranoid about their government’s actions or fearful of isolation, that the disease just continues to rapidly spread and countries unravel out of control..

CONGO’s President said that the disease is bigger than everyone..

And perhaps the best description is this: Fighting Ebola is like trying to change a tire in a hurricane..

Ebola patients 'refusing isolation'

This is how African newspapers are covering EBOLA..

NOTE.. The ‘burn all bodies’ headline in the lower left.. I think this sufficiently answers my question from last night is in which I asked what will be done with bodies that have suffered death at the hands of the outbreak: Burning.

Meanwhile: Africa has sealed off the Ebola epicenter. A little interesting that, after all the deaths, they are finally doing this..

The AFP reports this:

Opening the summit, WHO chief Margaret Chan told leaders that the response of the three countries to the epidemic had been “woefully inadequate”, revealing that the outbreak was “moving faster than our efforts to control it”.

"If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socio-economic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries," Chan said.

She described the outbreak as “by far the largest ever in the nearly four-decade history of this disease”.

"It is taking place in areas with fluid population movements over porous borders, and it has demonstrated its ability to spread via air travel, contrary to what has been seen in past outbreaks," she told the summit.

"Cases are occurring in rural areas which are difficult to access, but also in densely populated capital cities. This meeting must mark a turning point in the outbreak response."

The meeting came after Dubai’s Emirates became the first global airline to announce it was suspending flights to the stricken area, while the United States, Germany, France and Italy have issued warnings against travel to the three African countries.

US President Barack Obama announced on Friday that the United States will screen delegates travelling from Ebola-hit countries to Washington for a three-day Africa summit next week.

The summit must go on.
Captain Trips does not exist.

Willing to test the shot?

REUTERS REPORTS THIS:

The U.S. government will begin testing on people an experimental Ebola vaccine as early as September, after seeing positive results from tests on primates, according to media reports on Thursday.

The National Institutes of Health’s infectious disease unit is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to put the vaccine into trial as quickly as possible, according to CNN and USA Today. The director of that unit could not be reached for comment.

So .. I’m curious to those reading.. would you such an experimental vaccine? …would a bigger crisis, and outbreak, make you more likely to take it?

Gingerbread Man Downtown restaurant in Harrisburg PA suddenly closes

This is beginning to become a problem for Harrisburg..

The latest closure is not being based on parking ticket complaints as others have been, but the point is how many establishments are suddenly closing up shop along the famed restaurant row in the Capitol city..

This is not a good sign of anything good to come..

Ebolarola

It’s time.
Ebola heads to America on a plane.. Arrival time: Saturday.

CNN notes:

Ebola isn’t “some mystical pathogen (with) some bizarre mode of transmission,” the doctor noted, adding that it is transmitted similarly to illnesses like SARS or HIV.

But while the Emory staff members are confident, that doesn’t mean they have experience dealing with Ebola, which the World Health Organization reports has infected more than 1,300 people and killed over 700 in recent weeks in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. In fact, no U.S. medical facility has had a known patient with the virus.

It’s all new …
Here.

Mysterious lake in Tunisian desert turns from turquoise to green sludge

Hundreds are flocking to it, it is quite miraculous. But simple science, and the water table, may explain..

Mysterious lake in Tunisian desert turns from turquoise to green sludge

Timing is always interesting..

Here’s an interesting executive order just signed by Obama..

'apprehension, detention, or conditional release of individuals to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of suspected communicable diseases.”'

Looks like Art Bell agrees with my premise on how Ebola could become a weapon and threat to the United States ..

Ebola question

I really thought long and hard about the fact we are bringing to grave conditioned Ebola patients to the United States. I have a question for anyone out there with any knowledge of this, as I cannot find anything through my searchings..

How is a body treated after death, if that person died of the disease? I know the bodily fluids and blood are the chief way that Ebola is transmitted, so how is a body cared for postmortem? Even more, how was the body prepared safely for a viewing or funeral?

NHS doctor tells of his hell on Ebola ward

This is a sad story coupled with freakish and chilling..

Anyone who follows me or has read this website for any amount of time will know well that when I get worried about something, there’s a tendancy on my part to overkill the issue.. Ebola has been the latest bit of news getting me to tighten my tin foil hat..

The prospects of EBOLA being present in the United States—on purpose—gave me chills.. Yes, it’s Americans who obviously have the right to be in America, and we’re told the chamber fortress where the treatment in Atlanta will take place is safer than any place on earth.. but.. don’t you still get a bit of a chill hearing that Ebola is purposely being brought to the United States? That a hospital will treat patients here? Maybe I am too ‘American’ in my thought—-but to those who think I don’t care about Africans suffering the affliction, you’re wrong. I have been paranoid about this for years and have constantly worried about it, and reported about it… The latest outbreak is the worst ever seen.. Hopefully it burns itself out.. gets under control…

Let’s hope Captain Trips will not exist.

And yes, the man who discovered the virus says that he would sit next to someone on a train if they were infected with it.

But would you?
Would I?

There is chaos constantly on the planet earth.. It reminds me more than a bit like the opening scenes of the STAND, or opening paragraphs depending on how you discovered it..

EBOLA is coming to our shores.. it’s real, it’s on purpose.

Let’s hope and pray that all of those rational people saying there’s nothing to see here are right.

But .. until then..

Baby..can you dig your man!?

Another must read from Caleb Wilde: A mother writes an obituary for her son who committed suicide

There were two portions that will stick with me.. they are amazingly poignant:

Love and tolerance is the way – the antithesis of teenage culture. As adults, we preach love and tolerance at school, then fail to lead by example. In business, in sports, in entertainment, in personal relationships and in the media … how often do adults place people before profit, a helping hand before blame, caring ahead of winning, others ahead of self?

and

Kids drink this way because they need to escape their own false personalities. They strive to be the best, to be cool, to be popular and successful. Underneath, it’s all about the same old human needs: to feel valued, to feel important and special, to belong, to be loved.

Lectures and platitudes to the young will never change their society. We must all be the agents of change. Our society, as it gets bigger and more global, must evolve just as our species has evolved. Each of us, at work in the office, at home, in the post office, at the grocery store and in the government, must honor and value each person we encounter. How would your day be if, instead of trying to be right, you were trying to help?

The magic touch

Around 2am my wife woke me to tell me the toilet wouldn’t flush.. as any man (who could always go outside if he wanted) would do, I fell back to sleep and somehow convinced myself that it was a part of a strange dream.

This morning it was real. The toilet was clogged… I tried everything. I made it look, a lot, like I knew what I was doing. In reality, besides the basics, I know very little about plumbing. I assume my fluids and remains will go down the hole in the bathroom without incident. Normally it does..

SO I plunged and plunged and plunged. My arms were sore.. I tried to flush… and hush.. and NO GO. No flow. The toilet was jammed, I felt damned.

So I left the bathroom to regroup.. and I was tinkering with the idea of Googling or YouTubing strange toilet problems so see how mine fit in.. perhaps I’d find an answer. Maybe I’d even go back to the past and Ask Jeeves!

At that moment, I heard the toilet suck down the remaining water and push it through the pipes.. I ran in. What happened!? I saw my wife with the plunger in her hand, looking at me and saying simply, “I plunged it, didn’t you even try that?”

I did try!
I did plunge!
I felt like one of the Mario Brothers!

But I did not have the magic touch ..or even the magic flush. And regardless of the use of force, sometimes it takes a special maneuver to make the water flow again. Sometimes, I suppose, it takes a woman’s touch.

That or .. my ferocious plumbing did the work and on last gentle push was all it needed.

Hell, I need some find some manly way out, right?

A creepy scene in China.. A river has mysteriously turned blood red.  While some may scream ‘end of the world’ at the sight of the bloody river, let’s also note: There is a strange smell reportedly wafting through the air as well, hinting to me that something extremely dangerous has entered the water.. Pollution? Chemicals? Or just food coloring?

This from ABC NEWS:

“We suspect that somebody dumped artificial coloring in the water because he thought the typhoon yesterday would cause heavy rain, and nobody would notice [the color],” Jianfeng Xiao, Chief of the bureau told China News.

“It turned out there wasn’t heavy rainfall yesterday, so the evidence is left behind,” Xiao said.

Xiao said there is a paper manufacturer, a food coloring company and clothing-maker a long the river. The bureau is still investigating the incident.

Either way, now’s the perfect time to film a horror movie scene if you’re in the Zhejiang province..

There is undoubtedly a very disturbing creepy factor to the idea of someone leaving dolls in front of people’s homes.. even more unnerving: Whoever is doing it is leaving dolls that resemble the girls who live in the homes..

This is taking place in the Talega Community of San Clemente, California. Police are investigating..

Families began reporting the dolls in the middle of June. But now, according to police statements to NBC News, the situation has spun out of control.

This from ABC NEWS:

“The dolls were being left at these homes, but everybody thought they were the only one,” said Hallock. “When the families started communicating and put it together, they became concerned.”

Police are trying to figure out if the dolls were homemade or bought at a local retailer.

Though the situation may seem eerie, the police see no foul play.

“At this point we don’t have a specific crime,” Hallock said. “It’s very suspicious activity and we’re following up on it. We’re trying to find answers as we speak.”

Perhaps no ‘threat’ of any overt nature.. But maybe the work of a pervert..

Regardless of why the dolls are being left at homes, it’s clear: Any parent would find this as a clear and present danger. And a threat. No matter what police say..

Bob Beckel: I've Done Dope in The White House

He was reacting to Snoop Dogg’s bragging rights that he did dope in the first family’s not so humble abode.. Beckel, one of the few Democrats permitted air time on FOX NEWS, said:

“I can’t criticize this guy (Snoop) because I’ve done dope in the White House myself”

That..

And to put this in perspective: Obvious shenanigans are taking place in the White House—I would venture to say that pot was the least of the sins in the past 200 + years—but a teenager is facing life in prison in Texas over pot brownies.  You’re half baked if you don’t see something wrong with that picture..

Bob Beckel: I've Done Dope in The White House

Google to collect data to create a full picture of what a healthy human being is

The future is always now.. this was eventual, as anything technological really is at this point.

Google is trying to go deep inside the human body.. it’s going to give guidance on what a ‘healthy’ human is..

This:

The study may, for instance, reveal a biomarker that helps some people break down fatty foods efficiently, helping them live a long time without high cholesterol and heart disease. Others may lack this trait and succumb to early heart attacks. Once Baseline has identified the biomarker, researchers could check if other people lack it and help them modify their behavior or develop a new treatment to help them break down fatty foods better, Dr. Conrad said.

Sounds fine, dandy, healthy, and Googly. But what else is there behind that scene..

Imagine a future, where transhumanism is in full supply, and you get the sniffles.. then a sore throat.. then.. Google it! Search your body deep to get an answer.. let a computer scan through your organs, get your vitals, and spit back to what of the 1000s of named diseases you actually have. That would be an amazing future.

But of course with each passage of wonderful technology comes the ability to use it for awful things.

But Google won’t be evil. Right?

700 Dead or Missing This Year in Plane Tragedies

A bad year for air travel..
Anyone like me wondering if this uptick in accidents may have something to do with a poke shift?? The magnetosphere is where—could earthly instruments now be getting affected?

700 Dead or Missing This Year in Plane Tragedies

The strange woman in black.. Spotted in Kentucky and Tennessee ..she caused a buzz on social media..
There are conflicting tales at this point.. She may be on a bible mission waking down south.. She has been said to be a former Pentagon employee .. Also a tale told: She’s Muslim and in traditional garb..

Either way her appearance has startled some and she’s become a cross-state phenomenon as of late..

WATE filed this report with video..

There has also been a Facebook page created to track her multi state voyage..

Expect to hear more of this woman.. Maybe you’ll see her, too..

I knew it! The story is already changing

Home sellers don't have to tell buyers about murders, other tragedies, Pa. Supreme Court rules in death house case

Interesting..

I asked several people today with varied background for opinions on this story. I live in Pennsylvania.. so the ruling has a direct affect..

The reaction seemed to fall within the normal boundaries of religious belief.. Two atheists I knew didn’t care one bit if a murder/etc took place in their abode. I even asked them if a pedophile perpetrated horrible actions in a house, would they still consider buying it? They said sure..

On flipside, three Christians and one Jehovah Witness all had issues with the Supreme Court ruling, stating that they believed in a good and and that houses could have spirits and feelings trapped within them.

My wife and I saw a house several years back.. the real estate agent secretly and silently disclosed to us that a suicide took place within the confines of the property.. even pointing out the section of the basement a hung body was found in. While it was a gesture of “get out now” she loudly commented to us about how beautiful the house was. And it was. We didn’t purchase it for other reasons —the suicide factored in for me.

I think I would do my due diligence regardless of a real estate agent’s words.. The internet, public property searches, and court house papers are all at our fingertips these days…

I laugh when I see the movie THE CONJURING or AMITYVILLE HORROR where people simply fall in ‘love’ with a house and rarely ask anything about it..

Do research.. do your own due diligence. Ask about the material defects.. but also, should you be inclined to think a paranormal realm could exist on the planet earth, investigate it for yourself and learn all you can learn about a property you’ll want to call home.

If you don't follow Caleb Wilde, you should..

…but proceed with caution. He’s a funeral director who is very honest, brutally so, about his profession..

I read this article today titled ‘when embalming is beautiful’ ..

It’s not an easy read, but an important one. In essence, Wilde talks about the death process—post death really—and how he hates embalming children. What results is a horrendous but yet beautiful description of a family’s reaction to a three-year-old’s corpse laid to rest..

Again, it’s brutal .. and quite honestly brought my to immediate tears that flowed for several minutes.

But it’s just so honest..

Retail bail: A new book photo journals dead malls. Mine, and yours, may be next

I have fond memories of my local mall.

The Schuylkill Mall in Frackville has been around since two years prior to my birth. It was once a location for endless supplies of elderly smoking cigars–amazing to think of how popular the fateful choice of indoor smoking was before it was outlawed across the land.

For those who have never been there, it’s like a giant vast kingdom on top of an enormous mountain.. roads circle around it like you’re entire a palace. The facade, when you finally reach the pinnacle of the moutain, is brown in color .. It looks a bit like a prison. Or a big school. But the signs for SEARS and KMART illustrate you’re about to enter a shopping paradise..

Well… it was a shopping paradise.

Those fond memories of my mall have vanished over the years.
The place where I’d go to get HE-MAN action figures at a toy store are no more.. the book store is gone.. the restaurants are gone, all that remains is a pizza place–with amazing pizza by the way– and a new SUBWAY—seriously, like any human being needs another SUBWAY ..

The Schuylkill Mall seems to be teetering on the brink of something. Logic would dictate the obvious: A building so large in stature cannot sustain the lack of stores to pay it rent. And stores cannot continue operating without patrons. And patrons aren’t there–neither are kids on weekends, they are probably busy living their virtual teenager years cyber bullying someone on Twitter. But then again, the mall is still operating–years after DEADMALLS.COM declared the Frackville mall ‘dead’ ..  That’s saying something, at least, right?

I have a few notions of what could succeed–maybe drop rent prices for a year and tell anyone who wants to open a store to try it.. now’s the time, real estate abounds. Or maybe a giant organic farm market would work.  However, things seem to be too far gone to try such new and often costly things–I hope I am wrong. I want my son to enjoy the sound of retail at Christmas at a local mall.. but it just looks bleak.
Especially when anchor stores that remain are SEARS and BON TON–stores that nationally are desperate for any light at the end of their very financially dark tunnels, respectively.

So what will happen at the Frackville mall should something dire take place.  A book from a photographer Seph Lawless called BLACK FRIDAY-THE COLLAPSE OF THE AMERICAN MALL may give hints.  Lawless traveled the country for years to find forgotten treasures and the ghost of retail past. He documented decay in buildings that used to house the sounds of laughter, talking, and cash registers printing. There’s pictures with broken glass.. crumbling walls..

Most of the pictures were taken in Michigan and Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania.. These seem to be the locations where most of the malls are dying–and it could be a symptom of the bigger problem.. the fever from the flu of an economic failure on the rust belt and other locations where populations relied on manufacturing. Jobs were sent away.. they ain’t comin’ back. And neither are the malls where Lawless traveled to.

According to Lawless, he cannot easily gain access to closed malls. So instead, he breaks in–and has had arrest warrants issued for him for that very action. Imagine–breaking and entering into dilapidated structures.. I can only imagine the immense feeling of loss within them.

I  have been busy reading up on this book and checking out some of the photos that actually have been published online. It’s a tempting book to purchase if ever get an extra infusion of cash to do so.. But I think it may be a monumentally upsetting book, too.

Malls were built on the dreams and aspirations of a generation. The Wikipedia page for the Schuylkill Mall is actually filled with some good history ..

But memories aside, realities prevail.

I fear that as malls die, it will also take the Schuylkill Mall.
Vacant stores are eating up the inside.. Lots of very bored employees flip through their iPhones or laptops looking for something to do, as customers aren’t there busting down doors..

While this article has focused on my own personal surroundings, it’s not just the Steamtown Mall in Scranton, or the Schuylkill Mall in Frackville, and everywhere in between, suffering.  Atlantic City is going bust, too, as casinos are shuttered and thousands are losing jobs. Ironically, the Jersey Shore was the prime vacation spot for coal regioners for generations.. Maybe we cursed it.

There is a bigger picture to why malls are declining. It’s not just malls. And it’s not just that people are buying online (though the online purchases are a major factor) .. there’s something else at play, I fear. At least for my own area. Since I have been a kid, I have seen every school with the exception of my college close down. I have seen my local hospital shut down only two years ago.. Car dealerships, grocery stores, local stores, restaurants.. closed. And when that property goes vacant, it gets lifeless. Almost immediately and overgrowth of vines and shrubs take over.. What was once a center of life is now one of decline. The coal region of Pennsylvania is finished. Over. Sadly there is so much potential for it to be amazing–look no further than Jim Thorpe, PA, to see how it should be done.  Every little town in this area would have the potential to be the next Jim Thorpe. Missing from the equation: People to make it happen. This area has a lack of positive feelings, and instead, an underbelly of poverty and grief.. The youth move out and the elderly are dying out.. A new population has moved in that never saw the area when it was amazing. There’s no connection to the past, or to history.  And quite frankly, there’s no one who has taken up the mantle of creating something amazing again.

And that is why I fear the Seth Lawless photos will soon be taken at a mall near me..

Jobs aren’t coming back.
Neither are stores.
Neither are malls.

Unless there’s an American miracle, this same story and song and dance will play out not only in a town near me, but one near you, too..

After life communication

There is a really interesting documentary on VIMEO I watched called CALLING EARTH.. it’s a rough cut documentary about after death communication with the living.. And it’s worth a watch.

A few takeaway points that I had after seeing it:

  • It often seems that recordings of the dead appear to be recorded in some way.. For example, this documentary opens up to a woman hearing her dead daughter on a recording disciplining her dog—the girl was dead at the time it was recorded. Could it be that history just plays back over and over again in some way? that we are just … a movie or hologram that exists on a continuous loop?

  • The chilling idea of a dead person calling me and leaving a message on a voice mail is down right creepy. But … often times those who report it are overjoyed by the impact it has.. That ‘one last time’ to hear a voice of a deceased loved one..

  • If the dead are experienced using communication devices, why haven’t they mastered Facebook yet? Think of it: How many times have friends and family died, but their Facebook pages live on.. and in doing so, people continue to grieve, post messages and stories of the person’s life, and say how much they miss them. What if, one day, the dead find a way to communicate back? To “like” a post or even more, to respond?  The future is now.. so why haven’t the dead learned to use this one yet? Maybe the ‘get off my train guy’ from GHOST doesn’t have a computer …

And finally…when do we die anyway? We used to do the ole’ feather trick. Then we moved on to when the heart stopped.. now we are at a point where when the brain stops we believe someone is dead—believe. But with each modern discovery, it seems more and more likely that death will continue to be kicked further down the road..

Most scientists don’t believe in an afterlife—but some are beginning to wonder.. question.. And study.

Old paranormal fields that were confined to embarrassed circles of people hiding their investigations are now beginning to see the light of day, and the analysis of science.

Sometimes EVPs are simply what you think you’re hearing.. you may be so desperate for a message that you hear a muffled sound and suddenly think it’s your loved one saying hi from the netherworld. However, some EVPs are without a doubt filled with clear-cut audio that is simple and unforgivingly real.

Even if it’s not real.. it’s real to the person who heard what they heard…

Give the documentary a whirl during your spare moments in life. It may answer questions, bring closure, but even better: Make you wonder, ponder, think and quake at the prospects that there’s something far greater than an monumental accident leading to the creation of matter and all that matters.

This is the trailer for ANNEBELLE, the prequel to the CONJURING by James Wan.

It looks highly disappointing. That’s an early judgement, perhaps too early.

This one was not.

Russian-themed WWE characters use MH17 disaster as part of act

People are quite angry about this, so the mainstream media says, on Twitter and all of the other antisocial networks that exist out there on the information beltway.

While it may be the old ‘too soon’ cliche that is best used in this situation, I am not at all surprised at what the WWE is doing.

Back when when the WWE was the WWF, they capitalized on Iranian hatred by making Hulk Hogan win the 1984 title belt against the Iron Sheik..

In 1990, Sgt Slaughter turned his back on the United States and joined with Iraq ..

Hulkster had to ave the say the day and rid the WWF of anti-American sentiment.

So now wrestling has LUNA..
Controversial: The 'Lana' charter played by C.J. Perry made reference to flight MH17 being shot down and hailed Russian president Vladimir Putin for 'making fools' out of the U.S.

But there’s no Hulk Hogan to save the day this time. I think John Cena is right for the job..

Listen.. We all know, at this point in life, that wrestling is fake. It’s an act.. but so often it’s on the cutting edge of pop culture—it’s how it stayed in fashion for so many decades. Vince McMahan is obviously no stranger to controversy and will get through this LUNA lunacy quite fine.

As to whether it’s offensive? Sure.. but that’s the point. It’s an attempt to market the character as someone we will all hate in unison. It’s quite a keen way of doing it.. controversial, too. But … if an organization was free of controversy, people may very well stop paying attention to it.. Don’t think THAT doesn’t run through Vince McMahan’s mind.

Malaysia Airlines Diverts Flight Over Syrian Airspace

Whoa whoa whoa whoa…

THIS:

Data from Flight Radar 24 shows that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH4, an Airbus A380 flying from Kuala Lumpur to London, was diverted from its usual route over Ukraine in favor of passing over a country that is currently under siege by ISIS terrorists, some of whom are armed with U.S.-made Stinger missiles.

Unbelievable. But true..

So .. the airliner choosing to avoid Ukraine is smart. But flying over hostile portions of Syria where another way is baking away the life and limbs of people is not smart..

Here’s the full MH4 flight path: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/mh4#3dbdafe

I am not an aviation expert.. but someone out there who may be tell me this: Is this all normal?

The local newscaster had a little smirk and smile when she told of the ice cream that did not melt in hot weather..  The WalMart Great Value sandwich hardly melted in 80 degree weather—and a second sandwich didn’t melt either.

…In a comparison, other ice cream melted. Walmart’s did not.

But Walmart says it has all to do with the amount of buttermilk, and then got defensive saying that it meets FDA requirements.

Oh and here’s the gem of the ‘news’ story: The reporter ends saying ‘though there is nothing wrong’ with the Walmart ice cream, the customer misses the ‘old fashioned’ ice cream that actually..

"Old fashioned?"

Have we not gotten to the point of no return? Where frankenfood is the norm? Are we accepting this?  Instead of demanding REAL food, are we just going to “miss it” while we eat our chemically enhanced cocktails of poison and death?

Ice cream that does not melt. It’s not ice cream…

Soylent Green didn’t melt either..

Another Day, Another Sinkhole Emerges in Florida

But the difference with this one: it’s exploding.

From ABC NEWS:

The 120-foot wide and 30-foot deep sinkhole opened Saturday afternoon in Spring Hill.

"Out of nowhere the earth just went straight up in the air and exploded up in the air," said Margaret Helmick, who lives in the neighborhood.

Police evacuated four homes but later allowed residents to return to three of them. The area was closed off until further notice.

Exploding… think about that.
