Creepy Christmas..
We already know that stores are set to track your ID and see if you are a ‘repeat returner’ of products.
But this one is a little weirder and Orwellian to me. Store mannequins are not set to watch you as you shop to spy on your shopping habits.
Christmas of the future!
Buy local. Avoid the all-knowing eyes of the lifeless mannequin.
From the age of 16 until about a year and a half ago, I worked either full time or part time in the restaurant industry. I took a sabbatical from the profession since I had a full time job and a second full time job as a dad since 2011. Nonetheless, tonight was always a night of greatness in my restaurant recollection.
Pies. Lots of pies.
The smell of turkey roasting in the oven in the restaurant kitchen.
Setting tables up for reservations.. Making certain enough seating was available..
The magical ‘setup’ hours were fun times, in my memory.
Not like Mother’s Day. I despised worked Mother’s Day for a number of reasons—not because I hate Mother’s Day itself but more because I can’t stand the notion that so many kids see their moms once a year and their choice on that productive day is to take Mother to a busy restaurant with bad service and cold food. How lame.
But Thanksgiving? I always loved waiting tables on Thanksgiving. There was something fun about it.. something ‘holidayish’..
I am jealous of those who get to smell the wafting aroma of pies in restaurant kitchens across the United States tonight.
Seriously.. I want a debate about creationism from the GOP contenders.. with Rick Santorum moderating. How fun that could be.
Physicist Michio Kaku was a guest on George Noory’s Coast to Coast AM last night.
Kaku quickly directed the conversation towards his fears over solar activity He told George Noory that he was disturbed by the size and strength of recent solar flares..
Kaku said that the fear is one of the flares could hit earth and ‘all hell could break loose’..
Kaku said it was a matter of time, mentioning that the last big flare happened 150 years when telegraph wires were shorted out. He mentioned that people in Cuba were reading newspaper at night because the Northern Lights went that far South.
In our modern world, Kaku said the satellites would be fried, power plants could go down, and he said it could be worse than 20 Hurricane Katrinas across the planet.. The scary possibility is more possible as the ‘maximum’ of solar activity is occurring The sunspot is like a rifle, Kaku said, and the flares are like bullets. “One of these days one of these solar flares is going to hit the earth,” he told George Noory..
Kaku spoke about Congress’ inaction in taking advice of physicists on concerning the grid. Kaku worried about nuclear reactors failing and more Fukushima type events happening simultaneously throughout the world.
A part of the chaos Kaku foresees: Food riots, and violence as people realize ‘no outside’ will be able to help the areas affected by a solar maximum flare.
How the mighty have fallen..
Life after an election: This is Mitt Romney now, post 2012 loss, pumping gas himself. One comment on his appearance: He’s on a ‘milk bender’.. Simply more fodder for SNL should they choose to use it.
I heard about a nifty deal today at Sears.. Buy four tires, get a rebate, and get a $100 in store gift card. Sounded great. The trouble if you have to be at Sears between 4am and 1pm Black Friday to take advantage of the deal..
Tires are needed. But do I really want to subject myself to the anarchy that is Black Friday? Is it realllllly worth that?
Of all of the photos I saw from the Israeli/Gaza back and forth bombings, these both hit me.. A child, innocent, tries to salvage any bit of childhood he can while adults around him act more immature than him.
The fact that a child ‘does not understand’ war and the world means that the child is more humble and honest than any adult in power..
And in the other photo, an adult cries tears of humanity as he carries a dead child from the rubble after a missile strike.
There are many innocent people that die during warfare… they are the ‘collateral damages’ often uncounted by governments embroiled in hostility.
That is beyond disrespectful. They are people with lives, hopes, dreams.. and often innocence of childhood. Innocence lost in a second, dead bodies litter the streets..
War across the world. Isn’t this season supposed to be one of peace on earth??
Whatever happened to that..
Send in the clowns.
Governor Chris Christie appeared on SNL last night.. But his participation in the skit on the show is drawing fierce criticism. Just wondering your thoughts?

But for me the bad has outweighed the good when it comes to caffeine consumption. I have been clean of caffeine for about two weeks now, the worst was the first four days. I went from drinking 9 to 12 cups of coffee a day along with tea to nothing..
A part of the reason was because my heart was racing constantly, sometimes the beats per minute was shocking. I was having way too much caffeine..
I enjoyed every drop of it don’t get me wrong.. I tried to drink decaf coffee for comfort during those first trying hours, but he was switching from regular coffee to decaf knows it’s just not the same…
But now two weeks into it, I feel much better, the headaches are gone, I am never jittery, and I fall asleep much easier at night. I’m drinking decaf teas and every now and then a decaf coffee, with one little spurt of regular. But I don’t miss caffeine at this point, I am too far involved with the detox of my body to be able to start drinking again.
There may be positive benefits to caffeine, I am not denying that, but it is a drug and the benefits of the drug don’t outweigh the consequences for my personal well being.
This was one of the hardest lifestyle changes I’ve ever made..
AP reports:
DES MOINES (AP) - The number of abortions in Iowa has decreased since doctors were allowed, starting in 2008, to prescribe an abortion-inducing drug to patients in rural areas via a remote-controlled system, a study has found.
I am struck by the fact that national news has largely ignored the big sinkhole that developed in Louisiana this summer and has continued to grow all the way until the current time.
It began as bubbles in the Bayou down in Louisiana a few houses were rumbling, it has now turned into a sinkhole that expands and expands every day. the size of it is currently seven football fields. There are reports in Louisiana that peoples’ homes are shaking as far away as 15 to 20 miles..
And there is silence on the national news about this issue.
I would actually love to hear from someone down in the Bayou, Louisiana, brother areas that are affected by the sink hole..

Seismic monitoring systems around Bayou Corne, Lousiana, very busy with activity.. As a matter of fact, the ongoing saga of the Assumption Parish sinkhole and bubbling in the bayou continue as more safety precautions have been ordered around the sinkhole.. The fear now as the sinkhole has reached the size of seven football fields and some are worried of a methane explosion..
Even more troubling at the sinkhole location: The edge of the salt dome appears to be gone..

For your sake I hope you’re not. But if you are even slightly like me you are angry that stores are opening early for Black Friday..
It’s black Thursday. Which is Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving day/night is now turning into a shopoholic wonderland.
Even though families will still be sleeping off a big session of overeating, some in the family may have to cut the cranberries short and head for the mall to sit and watch buffoons and materialistic menaces dubbed ‘shoppers’ make for the entrances and race for good buys. While dinner plates are still being washed, some in the family will have to venture for the most dangerous place on earth: In the middle of two largeMarge type persons fighting over a sale.
They used to have to do this on Black Friday.
This year stores are opening early. Very early. Like ………Thanksgiving evening early.
A little ridiculous in my book.
I know it’s a recession.. and the economy is woeful.. and we need money.. and companies want sales.. But not giving employees just that time to celebrate thanksgiving with family? Instead forcing them into their jobs even earlier than ever?
I say bah humbug. Of course it’s not the season yet to say that. But it’s coming quick. Thanks to stores forgetting about why Thanksgiving is a pretty darn cool day, even earlier.
His doctors now say the textbooks will have to be rewritten.
The amazing tale: Scott Routley, 39, was asked questions while having his brain activity scanned in an MRI machine…
It’s shame we didn’t get the textbooks re-written before the death of Terry Schiavo.

I’m sitting at Jack Williams waiting for my car to be serviced. I’m sitting near some burly bigger lumberjack looking guys. And what comes on the TV in the waiting room? The TODAY SHOW with a segment of Susan Boyle singing Abba song THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL.
Tension ensues
Such a non masculine moment!
Two burly men got up and left. The other went to the bathroom. I stuck in my chair.
What do you think? The two men jacked with uber testosterone left because they were afraid to weep?

And now with everyone gone I can turn on CNN!!
Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.
Fading light, dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night.
Thanks and praise, for our days,
‘Neath the sun, ‘neath the stars, neath the sky;
As we go, this we know, God is nigh.
Sun has set, shadows come,
Time has fled, Scouts must go to their beds
Always true to the promise that they made.
While the light fades from sight,
And the stars gleaming rays softly send,
To thy hands we our souls, Lord, commend.
The myth of the presidential grays?
Maybe it is just wishful thinking to assume that Commanders in Chief, with all the stresses of their daily duties, will get older quicker than others. But as NBC’s Bill Briggs writes, not really:
But, internally at least, presidents don’t age any faster than other Americans – and, in fact, historically surpass average U.S. lifespans, according to a study into whether commander in chief is, literally, is a killer job.
I read this story but will ignore it. I’d rather believe that the President ages faster than me. It just makes me feel better. And younger. Until I see my own grays in the mirror piling up, that is..
More than a dozen homes damaged.. hundreds of people forced into the streets. This image is chilling. And it’s the result of a neighborhood blast in the Richmond Hill subdivision of Indianapolis.
The scene looks like one from an end-times movie. But it’s real life.
The cause of the explosion still under investigation. Natural gas is expected.
Wow…
Nothing is flawless.
And certainly the response had mistakes.
Did they do an impressive job given the circumstances? I suppose so. But it would depend on your ask, wouldn’t it..
Tourists take a swim in Venice.
Trouble is, where they are at is typically and filled with tourists..
The situation in Venice is troubling. 70% of the city is under water.
High tides and heavy rain caused the massive flooding. Tourists are wearing highwaters instead of shorts.
But the idea of people swimming in the water just for a photo op? Hope the sewage isn’t hitting into legs and feet beneath..
2 killed, 27 homes left uninhabitable after Indiana explosion
NBC News: A huge explosion in a south Indianapolis neighborhood late Saturday night killed two people and destroyed or damaged 27 homes.
The cause of the explosion and subsequent fire is still unclear. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been called in to investigate.
Damage from the explosion hit houses blocks away. Residents were evacuated to a nearby elementary school.

I’ll make a guess and say a gas line did this .. We will see. Tragic story
New allegations being made in the General Pertraeus scandal: Was the study silenced until after the election?
Tent cities are fast becoming prison camps for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
For those who think that the story of Hurricane Sandy has been written and all is well, think again. There are tens of thousands of people who have no where to live. Their agony is only beginning. The battle of hope vs loss of all hope is taking place right now across the East Coast, and in tent cities that were supposed to be temporary shelters.. shelters that are turning into incredibly difficult place to find shelter from misery ..
It didn’t even involve General David Petraeus at first. Initially it began when Paula Broadwell sent threatening emails to another woman close to Petraeus at the CIA.
Tabassum Zakaria and Mark Hosenbal at REUTERS report this:
But the CIA director's name unexpectedly turned up in the course of the investigation, two officials and two other sources briefed on the matter said.
It was “an issue with two women and they stumbled across the affair with Petraeus,” a U.S. government security source said.
The Washington Post reported on Saturday that the FBI probe was triggered when Broadwell sent threatening emails to an unidentified woman close to the CIA director.
The woman went to the FBI, which traced the threats to Broadwell and then uncovered explicit emails between Petraeus and Broadwell, the Post said.
Even more, Pete Williams and Andrea Mitchell at NBC news report this:
At first, investigators were concerned that a stranger had somehow hacked into Petraeus’ email account, but then learned that his emailing her was consensual and indicative of an affair, they said.
One senior law enforcement official, who had been aware of the probe for several weeks, said the complaint to the FBI about Broadwell’s behavior “raised concerns, and we had to check it out. It wasn’t apparent at first what was going on.”
"That clarified our concern. We had to talk to him," the official said. "He made the decision to tell the White House. We handled it discreetly." The FBI did not tell the White House about the findings, as some sources had suggested Friday night, the official added.
Broadwell had extensive access to Petraeus while writing a biography of the general, “All In: The education of General David Petraeus,” and had given numerous television interviews speaking about him.
A sordid tale continues to develop. Twists, turns.. sex, secrets. All of those things that a James Bond film has. This however is not fiction. And with the fact Benghazi hearings are on the horizon, it is making the Petraeus scandal all the more fluid..
They could house 900. No private showers …
Truly devastating information. When will the national media stop ignoring this? This is a slow disaster of epic proportions and it’s not even registering in national news now??
Paula Broadwell wrote ALL IN about General David Petraeus. Now we know why.
Sorry Mitt, all your friends had a backup plan.
Jan Crawford of CBS news writes:
They just couldn’t believe they had been so wrong. And maybe they weren’t: There was Karl Rove on Fox saying Ohio wasn’t settled, so campaign aides decided to wait. They didn’t want to have to withdraw their concession, like Al Gore did in 2000, and they thought maybe the suburbs of Columbus and Cincinnati, which hadn’t been reported, could make a difference.
But then came Colorado for the president and Florida also was looking tougher than anyone had imagined.
"We just felt, ‘where’s our path?’" said a senior adviser. "There wasn’t one."
Romney then said what they knew: it was over.
His personal assistant, Garrett Jackson, called his counterpart on Mr. Obama’s staff, Marvin Nicholson. “Is your boss available?” Jackson asked.
Romney was stoic as he talked to the president, an aide said, but his wife Ann cried. Running mate Paul Ryan seemed genuinely shocked, the adviser said. Ryan’s wife Janna also was shaken and cried softly.
They were this shocked?
Obviously Mitt forgot about the primary debates when every other candidate told him and other Republicans that he would lose. And maybe he ignored changing demographics? And maybe he didn’t realize how many people would note his constantly evolving positions on issues.
Maybe the GOP should have went for the gusto and nominated Ron Paul just to see how that would have worked.
Instead they went the safe route, as they did with Bob Dole against Clinton in 1996. A repeat of the 90s is here.
Fair to say Romney will not run again? I think so.
Expect to see this photo in lots of places around the web .. This is Valeria Lukyonova. She is being billed as the real life BARBIE. Oh, and the photo you are looking at is real. It’s her. Not photoshopped, either.
It sort of makes me physically ill, how about you?
Oh and when she’s not busy having somehow way too much money to be able to do all this, she travels in her astral body. That must be fun.
Great question, but FLAWED! You assume that 200 years from now movies will still exist. By then we are going to be way beyond even virtual reality. We may even be able to re-create time. Or time travel..
So if we do time travel, then people from 200 years from now and here right now today. And maybe TODAY they are making the movie … ? Eh?
My thought.. if there are oceans and life, are the oceans huge and the life massive?
From Sandy to a white out.. Parts of the Northeast look like this today. Amazing stuff, weather can be. Sadly power is still out and the storm led to even MORE power outages … there are some warmer days coming up over the next few, so let’s hope that power crews get this mess cleaned up so the rest of the mess can be cleaned.

Robert Costa wrote a NATIONAL REVIEW article today, linked above, about the election results. What caused Romney to lose?
The quote on NJ Gov Chris Christie that caught my attention:
Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey, the adviser adds, is persona non grata in Romney’s inner circle. “He went out of his way to embrace the president during the final week of the campaign,” the adviser says. “It wasn’t necessary and it hurt us. Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, and Chris Christie undermined the Republican message.”
Maybe Christie’s embrace of Obama hurt Romney. Maybe Chris Christie crying after Bruce Springsteen called hurt Romney. But in the end it helped his citizens, and quite frankly, it helped Chris Christie.
Think about it.. Your state just went through a disaster of monumental proportions. Entire towns are gone. An entire coastline is changed. What else CAN YOU DO but ask the President of the federal purse for help? What else can you do but put politics aside..? You have no option.
And on the political flipside? It’s a win-win for Chris Christie. Obama in office for four more years, and after 8 years of a presidency it’s easier for a different party to win.. In 2016, I bet Chris Christie runs for the presidency.. Romney losing this year allows him to do that. Obama being out of office by then allows him to have a weaker field to run against. And he will win in 2016. I say it now. Put it on the record.
ON this date, a date after 11/6/12, I say Chris Christie will win in 2016. Unless the Mayan calender ends in December and the world gets decimated by the mighty hand of the higher power. Otherwise Christie/Rand Paul (you read that right) wins in 2016 against …Clinton/Biden!
So sayseth the Coalspeaker. So sayseth the lord.
He certainly has legs big enough to fill the shoes.
The election is over. WE CAN ALL UNITE and be thankful for that. The campaign mudslinging gets tiresome—even boring. The negative ads were so plentiful this year that, frankly, people stopped noticing them. It was just frightening images of President Obama and Governor Romney set Armageddon style music. But it’s over. We have a winner. And it happened long before many thought it would. No recount. No hanging chads. No computer glitches of concern—well, there were but as usual the media ignored the problems with electronic machines.
But what has changed?
Before the election yesterday, Democrats controlled the Senate, Democrats had the White House, and Republicans had the House.
After the election today? Democrats control the Senate, Democrats have the White House, and Republicans have the House.
This after billions of dollars spent on advertising!?
Billions of dollars spent to … keep everything the same?
I am not a money-man, a banker, or a fiscal prophet. But if someone told me to spend a billion bucks just to keep my house, my job, my car, and make no changes, I’d turn the cheek and take a risk by not doing it.
Our elections are getting expensive. The Supreme Court decision years back allowing corporations to give more ensured that. Are we getting more for the money, though? We certainly had our TV airwaves taken over by candidates this year. Billions upon billions of dollars spent while Hurricane Sandy victims still are without running water, electricity, and food. Billions of dollars on a campaign while wars continue.. while poverty abounds.. while people are working three jobs instead of two just to make ends meet. Billions of bucks on the campaign.
Just to keep the status quo.
And speaking of status quo, not to be glum while America parties, there is something coming on January 1 2013 that few are concerned about: The fiscal cliff. The moment when taxes increase for everyone in this nation all at one time. When government spending has issues.. when people’s deductions get affected.. when life fiscally as we know it changes. And Congress, the Senate, and the White House are fully aware of the impending financial doom. The cliff is fast approaching. Billions of dollars were spent to make certain that the SAME PLAYERS would be in Washington that brought us to the edge of this mess. As of right now, no serious attempts have yet been made to correct the problem, or divert it from happening. A lame duck session of Congress is coming. Maybe they will come up with a magic solution? Or just keep doing things as they have been done.
No changes.
Status quo.
It’s tough to say just yet what, if anything, will change as a result of President Obama’s re-election.
The nation is slightly divided. A pretty evenly split popular vote, though the President did have a resounding victory on the Electoral College map.
If I had to make any prediction about what changed, I’d say this: Republicans will have to deeply analyze their message and determine what they could do about it. Was Romney just a flawed candidate? Was Santorum right ..was Gingrich right..was Bachmann right? They all said Romney could not beat a sitting President. And Chris Christie sat this one out. Maybe he was thinking Romney loses, too, setting up a 2016 run (or walk for him) to the White House? Or maybe the Ron Paul wing of the party needs some more press. Or maybe the Green Party, the Libertarian Party, the Reform Party, and others, need to be brought into the big tent of media coverage that only covers two parties?
I don’t know.
But what I do know is that today, just like November 5 2012, everything feels quite the same..
Chicago is going wild at Obama headquarters.. Other nets have not called yet..
President Obama will win the swing state of Wisconsin and Mitt Romney will win the swing state of North Carolina..
The trend continues leading to a potential landslide election
No projections from the experts yet but I’m watching the county by county view and it is looking like Romney’s night will end early..
