Good evening… Hot and humid in the United States of hell

This seems to be a slow motion unfolding disaster in the Mid Atlantic.. heat and no electricity, no lights in sight and no end of the heat coming either
5 million without power originally. Now it’s 2 million.
But put it into perspective: After Hurricane Katrina, the most without power was 3 million…
Power companies hope to have at least 90% restored by FRIDAY this week..
Of course there will be more heat and more storms throughout…
This seems to be a slow motion unfolding disaster in the Mid Atlantic.. heat and no electricity, no lights in sight and no end of the heat coming either
I have been doing some more thinking about the 'elusive' God particle
As linked yesterday here, scientists at CERN are expected to make an announcement this week that they have found the Higgs Boson God Particle with 99.99% certainty. The particle has been long sought by those who experiment with the giant CERN collider—it is the particle that makes up the mass of atoms..
My mind can’t necessarily comprehend the idea of this Higgs Boson particle. I get the basic premise.. but I’m a mere mortal. And for me it sometimes is just amazing to think about how the Large Hadron Collider even works, being 18 miles long and deep in the mountains..
But back to science.. According to reports and speculation, a press conference will most likely occur on Wednesday to announce the major and amazing discovery. Peter Higgs will reportedly be there.. And if they are flying him in, you know there will be a mighty word said for mics.
The hope is that science may actually begin to explain something that has puzzled many: Why objects in our universe weigh anything. Comprehending the tiny sub-particle that gives mass to atoms may allow people to bring some form of reason and purpose to the objects in our universe and the nature of everything.
What it will not do is answer ‘why’ we are here.. but may help in the ‘how’ department.
We will know something, perhaps, this week. Something amazing. Just in time for the great American 4th of July. Fireworks overhead.. the God particle all around.

From mild mannered child to .. monster of mayhem. And then he smiles and melts your heart..
Ayden Morris is 16 months old. He is amazing. At times it feels like he’s one of the adults, he tries so hard to be independent. He’ll go so far as to hold the cup with his own hands, but in the process rips it out of yours. He will take walks on his own, but make a fool of you as he whips his hands ferociously away from yours.
And yes, he eats on his own, even if it means he forces utensils out of your hands before you are ready to give them to him.
This is a wild ride. Parenting plus panicking.
Laughing.. getting angry.. getting sad.. contemplating existence.. contemplating time.. Getting embarrassed as the frenzied flip out occurs at a grocery store checkout counter.
My wife and I love being parents. We love having the task at hand .. we enjoy having something more important than ourselves being at the center of our marriage and lives. But .. by God, aren’t the terrible 2s supposed to occur when, well, when Ayden turns 2!?
I love the little man.
I love his emotions, as pure as they are.
And yes, even when I wish he wouldn’t get red in the face and belt out louder than a lawn mower on a microphone, I still am amazed as he grows, amazed as he learns.. and can’t wait until he starts asking “Why” to everything.
I think adults stop asking why..
And yes, we stop having meltdowns in grocery stores, too.
But that’s what makes kids more fun, don’t you think?
Bubbling boiling
A truly dangerous situation developing across the nation of heat
Lives are in danger and the heat is excessive. In 20 states today an excessive heat warning is active while million remain without power due to wild storms in the past 48 hours..
The historic heat and lack of power have prompted officials to tell many, especially the elderly and those who have trouble breathing in normal weather, to seek shelter immediately.
Much of the Southeast continues to bake in 100+ temperatures. From Chicago to D.C. 90s an 100s dominate the landscape..
Cities are opening shelters and cooling centers. In Ohio, Governor John Kasich is dealing with power outages after raging storms swept the state—Kasich has deployed the National Guard to help with the state’s more vulnerable and unhealthy.
But while the heat continues to swelter the sweaty, this is the bad news on the power outage front: If you power is currently out the chances are it may be out for days—this as the heat continues with little relief in the near future. Millions of people are lacking electric from Indiana to Maryland
According to the Washington POST in hot Sunday editions, D.C. was 80 degrees early in the morning with 100+ expected—all the while many roads are impassible and hundreds of thousands will be without air conditioning and in the dark..
The chaos doesn’t end there but seems to just begin: Gas stations are running dry in some spots, newest numbers in the post ‘land hurricane’ landscape have 13 being dead from the dramatic storms, and now in the D.C. area, cell phone service seems to be crashing.. ..
History may view this summer as the beginning of true earth changes.. a quickening of things, with extremes just becoming the norm.
Notice lately how records break, but not just by a bit but by a lot? Notice how weather forecasters can’t seem to get it all right at all..? Notice how things are so out of the ordinary that you cannot even keep yourself grounded.
Cherry blossoms bloom in winter. Kansas is 118 in summer. And in Colorado wildfires burn without kindness and thousands of people are homeless and many of their homes are simply gone.
We are only mid way through this year and a mighty more wild events most likely will occur. It’s just becoming all too strange, too horrible… and no normal.

Sandusky did the crime but others sure assisted. Joe Paterno included
The devastating emails trickling out of the shadows now.. Amazing how little scorn Paterno faced. He has since died but it is clear his reputation will take a massive hit after the dust settles on the latest revelations.

Life in the coal region: Block party mania.
I suppose only it’s in the coal region during summer that a Saturday night out means you come home with your clothes reeking of butter and onions and your skin has a healthy sheen of bleenie.
Blind pigeons, perogies, halushki, and fries..
You can’t avoid them no matter how hard you try.
Long live block parties
If you have not seen ONE NATION UNDER DOG yet, you should. And maybe you should not—depending on how deeply you can get into a documentary with such a horrid ending..
Dogs placed into a metal crate, altogether, as a worker without compassion turns on gas and kills them all at once—the cries from the cage are memorable and haunting.
But why care about animals? Humans have gassed Jewish people, Iraqis, Syrians.. Japanese. A brief stroll through history shows that if we treat each other like we do why would anyone think we would care for animals..?
And in the end, if you truly contemplate the prospects of what occurs in shelters and pet stores, and travel up the rabbit hole to how we treat fellow humans, you will begin to wonder: Is there a knowing God watching and judging? Maybe so .. but if so, why would this God allow such horror?

Really strong storms have caused deaths and the loss of power for millions.
More strong lines of storms are forming today and will hit in many of the same areas that were hit yesterday.
More on that from Accuweather.
Which is why the photo for this post of a snapshot of a page from Frank Miller’s BATMAN comic book compilation (I have the leatherbound edition safety stored away) .. in that comic, a massive heat wave hit Gotham City. I feel like I am in that comic now.. with the absense of course of Batman, the Joker, and the Mutant Gang.
I wonder if, in Frank Miller’s world, David Endochrine is funny anymore? He sure ain’t in the real world.
Did everyone make it through the derecho alright last night?
Power is out for millions.. At least 7 deaths being blamed on the storms ad heat.. And more coming today. This has been one nasty summer .. All weather is getting weird and extreme..all. Get it?
Smoking gun emails: Top Penn State officials debated what to do about Sandusky--in 2001!
Wow:
“After giving it more thought and talking it over with Joe (Paterno, the head football coach at the time) yesterday, I am uncomfortable with what we agreed were the next steps,” CNN quoted Curley as saying in an email.
Curley then makes reference to “the first situation,” likely meaning the shower incident involving Sandusky and a young boy in the Lasch building in 1998.

San Diego shakes again
The mysterious sensation was described by some people as sounding like a door slamming while others said it was strong enough to rattle windows
The U.S. Geological Survey says it received more than 500 reports from people in San Diego County who felt shaking Friday. The survey maintains an online site where people can report what they felt. USGS geophysicist Bruce Presgrave says it was most likely a sonic boom
You may think you're not in Kansas anymore, but you are.. as a matter of fact heat is blanketing the nation from sea to boiling sea.
Kansas 110+ degrees?
Colorado 110+ degrees?
Yes, indeed.
If you are still a stalwart that has doubts that the earth’s weather is changing, look no further to this story about how there are record highs being broken by temperatures that have never been this high in recorded history..

News from space. The wild frontier that we don’t have enough money to spend to get there anymore. Besides private companies, of course.
Amazing universe: Solar tornadoes as big as the US eat up the sun’s atmosphere..and not only that, but there may be 11,000 super tornadoes on the sun’s surface!
This is how solar flares can kill: A distant planet had an entire atmosphere blasted away by solar flares 60 light years away fom Earth..
Saturn’s moon Titan may have an ocean beneath its surface!
Exhumed rocks reveal that Mars water ran deep..
A few other headlines that made me cringe today
Disturbing: Sick drugged up patients asked to pay—at bedside!
The parents aren’t alright either: Father arrested because he left his two year old son in a hot car in Kentucky.. Why? He got ‘distracted’ and forgot to drop him off at day care, leaving him in his parked car outside of his office.. The child was strapped in his car seat while the temperatures climbed above 100 degrees inside the car..
How ethical is this!? Does anyone care about ethics anymore..? News now that the first GMO babies have been born, about 30 to be exact: Fifteen of the children were born in the past three years as a result of one experimental programme at the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science of St Barnabas in New Jersey…

I’m inclined to think that MAGIC MIKE will be the number one chick-flick of the weekend. Could be wrong..
According to Channing Tatum: Waxing in prep for the film was painful..
Reviews for the film are now trickling in..
And ain’t it just sumptin’ .. I bet most of the women you know, or if you’re a women, want to see this film this weekend or at least have made comments when seeing the poster. Perhaps the makers are on to something. Box office glory coming for male strippers? Waxed and ready. Is America?

This is an amazing image.. There were some pretty rough storms in Coal Country and other areas throughout the night last night. And today data shows that there were over 40,000 lightning strikes from the storms..

This photo of horrid Colorado fires taken by Helen Richardson of the Denver Post..
The winds and heat have made a troubling situation even worse.. And now it’s life threatening as one person has perished as a result of the series of blazes stalking and killing the land..
Entire neighborhoods have been erased by the fires as these photos illustrate..
A dire situation continues in Colorado as the hills are still alive with fires and fear.
Colorado Springs fire is now ranked as the most destructive for the state on record, there is a war room type effort happening, and now the fires have claimed their first fatality as homes and businesses continue to be evacuated ..
Extreme heat has blanketed the nation for days, today in some parts of the Rockies temprs will rise above 105..
A troubling situation awaits firefighters who battle the flames and the heat of nature..
![](https://coalspeaker3backup.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/tumblr_m6dozs3bay1qfjo2go1_1280.jpg)
It’s going to be as hot as hell today. It’s the end of June and not even mid summer yet. What awaits this nation? Hopefully not more fires and fear.. but that is exactly what Colorado is facing this morning. One death has also occurred as a result of the fires. More homes are evacuated.. more horror as lives are being shattered by the unpredictable flames.
Fire fighters are facing a troubling situation, as well: Fire and heat. Temperatures will soar above 100.. not easy for those fighting these fires by a stretch of the imagination. And the eyes of a nation are watching.. waiting.. and hoping that somehow the flames die down and fire fighters turn a corner in the battle against nature’s wrath.
Boulder is threatened this morning.
As are lots of other places, too..

Are you working from home or hardly working?
A new survey seems to suggest that those who work from home don’t always work and tend to squeeze some other things in..
But ask yourself this, office workers of the world: How much of your day is filled with work and not just maligning and hissing at fellow co workers or discussing the latest ridiculous reality show to grace the TV sets of Ameridumb? Employers: Pick your poison carefully..
Ann Curry bids farewell on the TODAY show.. it's pretty clear that at this point the 4 hour extravaganza of entertainment goo, ooze, and garbage, is clear: No news is good news
Truly.. she is about one of the few people with journalistic integrity that TODAY has.
Really.. if you want news you need to tune in for about the first 14 minutes. Then local weather plops itself on again.. then it’s Justin Beiber live and Katy Perry with clothes.
Now it’s Matt and Al for the duration. Who will replace her?
Kathy Lee?? If she’s sober.

Pretty big Supreme Court decision today
…they decided that big thing about military valor and lying.
Oh yea, and health care stands, Chief Justice Roberts sided with Obamacare.. and the rest is history.

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE HEALTH CARE
Twas the night before health care,
and all through the White House,
Not a staffer was stirring,
Not even mouse
Eric Holder was ready to endure his censure,
While visions of electoral votes danced in Obama’s head.
And Carney with talking points and Panetta setting a trap,
Had just settled in for a eerie summer’s nap.
When out in the Rose Garden there rose such a clatter!
Michelle sprang from her cheesesteak to see what was the matter!
Away to the window Barack flew in a flash,
Tore open the shutters and hoped for campaign cash.
The Supreme Court showed up with a decision in hand,
Promising to decide whether a mandate will stand.
Congress was there with a censure in plans,
Holder’s contempt will be the vote of the land.
A busy Thursday is coming for sure,
How much more can a White House endure!?
Now Scalia! now Roberts! now Ginsburg and Thomas,
Breyer and Alito, what can you promise?
Kennedy and Kagan, we may know your choice,
Is Sotomayor too new to voice?
We will see in a flash on Thursday for sure,
Censure and health care,
It will be such a chore.
Lady Gaga's semened-smell summer coming
Those summer nights.
This year, the summer air and early autumn evenings will have a whole new smell, thanks for Lady Gaga’s FAME, her perfume that is set to hit the market soon.
The fact Lady Gaga is marketing her own perfume is not news in itself. Almost all stars seem to get their own line of essence at department store prices. But Gaga’s include of her own blood extract and an unknown donor’s semen sample has created more than a typical buzz: Some websites are stating that it proves a demonic and even satanic element to Gaga’s persona. Natural News writes this:
It could all just be one big demonic publicity stunt to market the ugly black liquid packaged in an alien-like, egg-shaped bottle held by what appear to be slender claws. But several sources confirm that Gaga literally used her own DNA to create the scent, which included offering up a blood sample that was actually added to the fragrance batch. Where the alleged semen came from, though, is still unknown.
Besides semen and blood, another scent that lurks deep in FAME is apparently a plant that is termed “Deadly Nightshade.” Starcasm reports more on the ingredient:
One thing that everyone’s pointing out, but not really explaining is the first ingredient: Tears of Belladonna. It sounds like a Irish folk song or a Greek myth, and that’s really not far off base. Belladonna is a poisonous plant that also goes by the term “Deadly Nightshade.” It has been used throughout history as both an anesthetic (pre-Middle Ages) and a poison. All the parts of the plant can be lethal. It would take just a few of the sweet, innocent-looking berries to kill a child (about 20 to topple an adult,) and it would only take ingesting one leaf to kill an adult.
Perhaps the scent of Illuminati is strong with this one.
Rumors everywhere on FAME. And not a drop to drink. That is if you want to drink blood, semen, and poison extract. Most may just stick with Calvin Klein.
Of all the things Asbury Park would have to worry about.. this is not one
A council woman wants to do something that hasn’t been done in 40 years: Enforce a ban on people walking around Asbury Park’s boardwalk wearing a bathing suit—suits that even 40 years ago had more ‘clad’ that the semi-clad nature of skimpy swimwear these days.
Those who have been to Asbury Park may wonder why the ban would be needed. The town was once a bastion of family friendly activity and beauty.. riots, racial tension, fires, and fear led to a darker age for Asbury Park starting in the 1970s and extending even into the 21st Century.
On a trip there in 2005, I personally saw a town striving for a new identity, but sheltered on the perimeter by abandoned buildings, moss-covered relics of the past, and few people on the beach .. I don’t think I recall whether I saw bathing suits or not. However there was something very interesting and historic with the area.. something that drew me in.. Something that made me want to give the city in Monmouth County a chance. I would dare say most people who visit Asbury Park as a tourist get a double-pronged feeling: One partially of fear depending on your surroundings and another of awe as you look at the big picture. A visit to the Stone Pony to see someone who may be the next up and coming Someone helps, too.. The Boss played there, after all. As did lots of others..
Recently, a push has been made by residents of Asbury Park to bring dignity and tourists back to the town that once was. Instead of living in the past, some have abandoned the old days and in tribute to the past tried to soar above and beyond them, leading the city into a better place. And it’s working. There is a rebirth of dining and bars.. more stores and higher end markets. It has not been easy for those trying..
Which is why of all the things to be concerned with in Asbury Park, it’s quite surprising that Louise Murray wants to enforce the 40 year old ban on bathing attire.
CBS in New York reports on what the ban actually says:
No person clad in bathing attire shall be on the boardwalk or the public sidewalks adjacent thereto
Murray is 74. She told WCBS 880 that she recalls rules of the beach: You couldn’t go on the boardwalk unless you covered up and had on shoes. But the town is coming back.
Perhaps $2,000 fines and 90 days in jail won’t help the town recover from its ills of yesteryear but they are the rules of the game and repercussions of the bikini ban.
The state of New Jersey is cutting services. The city of Asbury Park is, too. Though some old friends of the archaic bathing suit ban say they want a return to the modesty that was the Eisenhower era, few think it will occur. The skimpier the better. Or sometimes worse, depending on who is donning the beach-but-not-boardwalk-friendly attire.

Weather outside not quite frightful--yet
*(Unless you are currently being drenched in Florida by 2 feet of Debby)*
New weather models forecasting extreme heat to blanket the entire East Coast by the weekend. Widespread 90s and 100s expected.. It is currently about 59 degrees outside Coal Speaker home base.. This summer night is more like an early fall evening. But changes are coming. Dog days are on the way.. get the grass mowed early because by high noon some day soon the blistering sun will bake the ground..
More weather models suggest: There is another potential tropical system set to develop some time in early July, potentially around July 8 as a big high develops.
Note to airline passengers: When you are transporting the ashes of a deceased relative, do your best to avoid the TSA.. the ashes may end up on the floor after an angry confrontation..
Yes it really happened.
And it made me sick to think it could occur..

One man serves his genitals, another born with them on her head: No drought in penis stories floating online tonight
Here’s the nuts and bolts of the story: Mao Sugiyama had his penis and testicles surgically removed in March and kept them frozen for two months before cooking them at a public event in May..
Diners each paid 20,000 yen ($250) for a portion..
And of course there is always a Debbie Downer: The mayor alerted police and now international headlines are being made with news that the event happened. No word on what taste the meal had..
No word on what spices were used.
But the Japan dinner is not the only penis story making headlines on news wires tonight.
Unfortunately something that may give new meaning to the word ‘dickhead’: A baby was born with a penis on her forehead (yes, her).. and yes, her forehead. Of course specialists may address the issue. And hopefully they do.. a dangling penis over someone’s eyes can certainly alter vision for the worse. Prayers with this girl. Not sure if prayers are with the man who served his genitals though.. can’t muster enough energy to grasp that one..
Those wildfires getting even more wild
The situation in Colorado becoming increasingly dire as the wildfire that is advancing advances even more, forcing thousands to leave their homes. .. Among the fallout expected: Tourism will take a hit.. There are thousands of people displaced near Colorado Springs . . Something not helping firefighters continues to be record heat.. Here is a map of where the fire is worst..

By now you've either heard of or seen kids bullying a bus monitor caught on tape
When I watched it, it simply sparked a deep anger and disgust in my own human race.. How can kids, regardless of their immaturity level, be so horrid in action and words?
So vile and reprehensible in their thoughts?
So vicious in how hurtful they are to a fellow human, one who is crying as they taunt her about her weight?
This video is outrageous .. but only so because it’s real and true.
I teared up for this person.. the KIDS AREN’T ALRIGHT. The Offspring were right..

Midnight in the desert
The former king of the night, Art Bell, chose to give up broadcasting Coast to Coast AM on a full time basis years ago. Unbeknownst to many, In October 2010 he did his final show when he did Ghost to Ghost AM from the Philippines .. Since then he has not appeared on the program, even though host George Noory signs off nightly using Art Bell’s name. Also on Saturday nights across radio stations and the internet, older broadcasts of Art Bell are replayed called “Somewhere in Time.”
For now..
Tonight on his Facebook page, Art Bell announced,
"I have made a request that Premiere Radio cease Broadcasting the Saturday "Somewhere in Time" shows."

This happened a few days ago.. but I read thoroughly about it this evening..
THICK HAZE DESCENDS OVER CHINESE CITY
Industrial accident? Chemical plant explosion? Naaahhh.. China says simply ‘straw burning’ is the culprit for a thick and mysterious haze that has descended over Wuhan city..
The haze is yellow-grey-green in color .. government tells young and old alike to stay indoors..
The haze started to make headlines around June 11.. Around that time, China detained 2 people for “pollution rumor” .. No word on whether those detained are still …around, so to speak..
One theory was that high school students were burning books after graduation.. Much more serious notions of why the thick fog showed up exist.

When I was a kid I purchased gifts for my dad (as I did this year) for Father’s Day. Of course having your own child and getting your own Father’s Day gift makes it special.
When I was younger and dumber I had this notion that I understood everything in the world.. I believed I could answer everything with sarcasm or irony. I could not, of course. As time went on I came to fully understand that..
But having a child makes you realize it even more.
Mother’s Day. Father’s Day. Days to honor those most important. Yes, indeed, those days matter.
There is a place for mom and dad in the world.. and regardless of television programs and commercials making fathers look absolutely naive and stupid, there is a place for me in the act of raising my son. As I age and become more of a father I see that. I see the importance of my actions… inactions.. and reactions. Life is short and sweet..
Fatherhood seems to make it even sweeter but yet shorter all at the same time.

I have been hearing some audible complaints recently that “we haven’t even had summer weather yet.”
Well… get ready. Ye ask, ye receive. Get your sweat buckets out, ice up the water, put the beer in the fridge.. and get ready to ring our your perspiration filled T shirts by noon: This week is going to see the first heat wave of summer 2012. From the looks of weather models and forecast maps, it will be intense.
Temperatures in D.C. will feel as hot as 105 or more. Places in Virginia could feel like 110.
Summer 2012 indeed here..

A big fat Greek election.
But this one has some very big implications for not only Greece but the world too.
The Greeks, sick of austerity, layoffs, and children being abandoned in the streets by increasingly poverty-stricken parents, may dump the Euro. Critics say if they do that, it could spark a world crisis on the economic front.
Get ready for a news blitz as events get crazy in Euroland.

Mitt Romney came to my home state of Pennsylvania this weekend.. He told people who were listening that he was going to win the state this November against Obama. Also while he was here, he was quite fascinated with Wawa, a chain of stores in the Southeastern part of the state. And he stepped into the debate in the state that divides it literally in half: Sheetz vs Wawa.
The Ticket writes it this way:
What inspired him: A computer at Wawa that allows customers to type in what they want on a sandwich, as opposed to ordering it through a human cashier. It was a technology, he said, that had been fostered by competition—competition he said the federal government lacks in delivering its services to Americans. He said the government’s lack of competition and bureaucracy was hurting the United States in keeping jobs that are moving to other countries.
But more than anything, Romney seemed blown away by the Wawa computers, which he raved about.
"You press a little touchtone key pad… You touch this, touch this, touch this, go pay the cashier, and there’s your sandwich," Romney said. "It’s amazing!"
I suspect Romney hasn’t had to be at a convenient store in a long time. This may be his moment of disassociation with reality. Remember in 1992 when George Bush senior was amazed with cash registers and the price of bread? … yes.. This candidate sometimes just can’t get ahead.
The irony of course is that people in Sheetz terriroty of PA, simply by default of the location, would have been more apt to have voted for him instead of the Wawa real estate portion. Maybe he also botched up some chances by siding with the Wawa market.
Father's Day Sunday Morning Sidewalk news
Despite how great of a day it is for me and other dads out there, the news goes on. Here’s a collection of what I read this morning .. I think I’ll stop for a while—it’s all too much—and drink some french vanilla coffee out of my new BATMAN mug…
Here’s the news. Read it and weep. Or just weep before you read.
Greek wildfire rages near Athens..

And for all the dads out there who like solar flares (me included) this one is for you
Geomagnetic storms are circling Earth’s poles in the wake of a double CME impact on June 16th.. Earth’s magnetic field has strongly compressed after the flares and impact.. After nightfall Saturday Northern Lights were visible even in the Northern United States such as North Dakota and Wisconsin..
There aren’t too many times I’d say I would like to live in North Dakota, but I saw some pictures on SpaceWeather and Facebook of the Northern Lights over North Dakota and it looked like absolute majesty in the sky.
There is beauty to solar flares.. until that day when a series of X flares knocks out power and modern life. But at least Northern Lights will be looking pretty amid the lack of technology.
A big happy father's day to all the dads out there
It’s my second now (yea can’t believe that). Feel like a veteran. My gift was a beautiful framed photo of me holding my son minutes he was born.. and my other gift is a BATMAN mug for my coffee. Pretty cool.

Maybe America is kind after all
Remember a week ago when the author of a book about the kindness of America was shot?
I thought things online would be there 'forever'
I had a website YEARS ago hosted on Angelfire. I also had a Guestbook that, only this week, I found out was gone forever. Seriously.. they deleted it on me. You know, I guess… things change. So this guestbook existed since the year 1998. There were tons of memories in there. I signed up with an email address that is now non existent. So if I had an email that was existent as the main contact, I would have known since April it was going away. Alas! I didn’t.
So there goes that guestbook.. filled with as many memories as a photo album. Friends…long nights of messaging back and forth when the internet was in its infancy.. drunken stupors in text. All that in this guestbook. The world was able to read it.
And now it’s gone.
I know people say if you type something online “it will last forever.”
Tell that to people who had websites on Geocities. Or those who had Tripod guestbooks. Or slambooks (remember those!?) Or ICQ.
I hopefully think that somewhere, in the vast universe, the keys we stroked and letters we typed still exist. But with all these companies folding their ventures and replacing them with nothing, I dare to think that there are some things online that will never exist again. And that’s sad.
What will exist is Facebook. .Maybe Myspace? That’s up to Murdoch. Maybe Tumblr, that’s up to Karp if he makes money.. and Google blogger, which is probably up to the CIA more than anyone else.
Yes.. what you type may not exist tomorrow.
Kind of sad, in a way. Years of Guestbook entries back when the net was young have just been deleted from countless sites…
They better not get rid of Angelfire. Or else if they do, my entire 18 years old to 21 years old period of my life is gone. Forever.
The latest Lilo: Paramedics rushed to her due to exhaustion in her LA hotel.. but she wasn't taken to the hospital
THE MONEY QUOTE
Celebrity news website TMZ meanwhile reported that the 25-year-old had been working for two days almost non-stop, including shooting parts of the movie near the hotel.
Her spokesman Steve Honig told E! News: “Last night she worked from 7:00 pm to 8:00 am. She was exhausted and went back to her room to sleep.
"Producers were apparently concerned and called the fire department and paramedics found her sleeping but determined that she was fine, just extremely exhausted and slightly dehydrated.

I was a young subscriber to TIME magazine, and I remember getting this issue in 1993. I now look back … I was 13 then and I am 31 now. I am a father. Wow.. I am what I’d never thought I’d be when I was 13. But now I am completely fine with that… It just fascinates me how life changes. By the way, I am posting this while my son, Ayden, is messily trying to eat his chicken noodle soup. He got mad at first that there were no crackers in his soup… I am at his command.
Yes, indeed, how life changes.
I wonder what will be on TIME magazine when he is 13. I wonder if there will be a TIME when he is 13……….
(By the time I was done writing this post, at 7:13 pm EDT this Friday night, Ayden dumped the entire bowl of chicken soup on the floor. Guess he’s not hungry)

Too bad SNL is on summer recess. Fox and Friends had an issue this morning, as Gretchen Carlson walked off the set of the show after male hosts made comments on how ‘women are everywhere,’ such as the Navy, golf, and tennis.
Go Gretchen. Low cut blouse-high-skirt-Roger-Ailes-Girl power to ya!

For those following, you know this: When there is dramatic testimony in the Jerry Sandusky trial that really means the news headlines should be rated X. Seriously, horrible stuff is coming to light. Today’s headline is that Sandusky referred to himself as the tickle monster. Even more, one witness said while a molestation occurred, he screamed in Sandusky’s basement while no one came to help..
All this in front a jury.. I can only imagine what is going through their minds this weekend.
"What was I going to do? Look at him, he’s a big guy, bigger than me. Way bigger than me."
That is what Victim Number 9 testified to today. This is why he said he took part in oral sex and all the like in Sandusky’s basement….
Happy valley indeed.
I am frankly at the point where I cannot even watch the news accounts of the trial or read dispatches anymore.. there’s no way I could have been on this jury. No way at all.
So you’re up next, Karl Rominger. And what say you defense team?

This one just fascinates me.. Hand prints in a cave so ancient, so old, so long ago, that they are not that of modern man. So modern folks weren’t the only artists .. Art began long ago in Spain.
The AP story on the Spanish cave paintings says this:
Testing the coating of paintings in 11 Spanish caves, researchers found that one is at least 40,800 years old, which is at least 15,000 years older than previously thought. That makes them older than the more famous French cave paintings by thousands of years.
Scientists dated the Spanish cave paintings by measuring the decay of uranium atoms, instead of traditional carbon-dating, according to a report released Thursday by the journal Science. The paintings were first discovered in the 1870s.
Did you read this? 40,000 years old
And here is more:
The oldest of the paintings is a red sphere from a cave called El Castillo. About 25 outlined handprints in another cave are at least 37,300 years old. Slightly younger paintings include horses.
So all those bad stories, bad press, and bad rumors about Neanderthals may have been false. Among them may have been a da Vinci, Picasso, or maybe even a Beethoven.
An amazing story…..don’t you think?
It's not done yet
Even more news that will intrigue and … make sick.. and convince you that the end is near. Even though it isn’t. Maybe we all just hope it is…

The summer of insanity: Corpses, cannibal attacks, collapsing currency.. and the summer Olympics
News today on the zombie attack: Newly released photos of the ‘zombie victim’ that the Miami Muncher attacked over Memorial Day weekend are circulating the web. Ronald Poppo is the victim. If you so choose you can Google the images yourself, I don’t think it’s appropriate to post them on here. The hospital released two very graphic images of his facial wounds—with his permission.
You may not need further proof after looking at the photos of just how insane the world is. It’s the summer of insanity. Bath salt mania. Frantic crime waves. Tide is being stolen from store shelves and being sold on the black market—a black market shiny clean with Tide, perhaps.
More oddity, again from Florida: A naked corpse washes up on Flagler Beach. There just must be something up with peninsulas this year as well.
It’s only June, folks. How much stranger and creepier could our daily headlines get? I suspect….just as the heat intensifies so will the strange factor. Zombies and rage… are vampires next?
